Little did we expect that our 58 year old son would die before us. When he was declared deceased we didn't know where to turn. My mother spent the majority of her life in Fresno California, and made her cremation arrangements there, with the choice to have her remains spread in the Chapel of Light in Fresno. She died in Prescott Arizona, with her body transported to the Tempe Arizona Neptune facility where she was cremated. Her cremains currently are in transit back to Fresno to complete her life's journey. "Mother's hold their children's hands for a while, but their hearts forever." - unknown Mom's final plans included a prepaid cremation with Neptune Society. The way that plans are purchased is basically to buy a whole life plan, with Neptune as the beneficiary. Shady how that works, but I guess it's law that you can't technically buy in advance. Not sure. It seemed like when it was needed, it would be all taken care of. The unfortunate day came on February 8, 2021. Mom slipped away to heaven, with her mortal vessel going to the custody of Neptune. They claim to help families, and to take care of everything to take worry from the shoulders of grieving family. Boy, was this not true. I get that there is a pandemic. But mom had prepaid for her cremation. To Neptune, it seems that it gave them permission to put her on the back burner. We were told that she wouldn't be processed for at least 6 weeks, and that no one could even talk to us for at least 3 weeks. So here we are, March 19, and she has finally been processed. We've had no closure, thinking of Mom's body sitting in a fridge for all this time. We're already grieving, and this is making it worse...with no apology. They told us that burials take precedent over cremation. I understand that from a preservation standpoint, but 1. Burials aren't running 24/7 and 2. We had prepaid to receive service. Having this company on the phone to make an appointment and go over initial info, it's not a good thing to hear other call center employees apologizing to other families in the background. Strike. My sister had an appointment today to receive the cremains. The front desk person acknowledged her, then searched for a mask for a good 10 minutes, despite having a plexi shield between she and the customer. She asked her name and my mom's name. She stared dumbfounded, and doubted her appointment. She goes to speak to someone, but comes back to ask her name and mom's name again. Because her pen must be wherever her mask is? She stares at my sister, who asks "should I sit, or is someone coming, or what?" A woman comes out and seats her in a room. A man receives the box and makes an attempt to transfer the cremains. I won't go into details because it's not the man's fault, but it is NOT a smooth process. Back at home, we realize that they have neglected to give us the obituary info and the death certificates that we ordered. This place is not close to anyone's house. At all. My sis drives all the way back, where the hot mess of a receptionist tries to give her someone else's certificates. At this point, I think that were done dealing with Neptune. I cringe for any other family who has to deal with them. Don't prepay with these guys. Your family will have more heartache. read more

My niece committed suicide with no warning to friends or family. As next of kin, but being far away, I called the Neptune Society to take care of her after the medical examiner was finished. I called on a Sunday and received immediate response from an after-hours person who gave me all the information I needed. Planning ahead for the end is what my mother did. We had no idea that she made these arrangements until we were going through her documents when she had to go into a memory facility. It was a year and a half in that home but when the time came and I received the call that she had passed the Neptune Society was already on it and way ahead of the curve. I could have never been so prepared as they were to handle the body and death certificates and so on. My mind was far off thinking of my mom and all of our time together. I would recommend addressing this when you're in your 50's or 60's to ease the burden one your loved ones. It's a final gift, so hard to do but so meaningful. I loved my mother but had no idea she set this up 20 years in advance like a final investment. It was so welcome because Neptune stepped in and made the unavoidable experience much less stressful. I purchased a pre-paid cremation contract for my wife and myself in October 2013 with Neptune Society. My wife wound up with advanced Alzheimer's and passed away June 12, 2023. At the time she was in a long term care facility and I was out of town. Neptune Society was contacted and they immediately came and took my wife to their facility. They were very efficient and caring and handled everything with great decorum keeping our family in mind. Ramon was very consoling and efficient. I sent that picture to Jody's business email address on November 2nd! This means that my mother has NOT been cremated. They can't do it without positive ID. They must prioritize those who pay post death as opposed to a pre-need. This is horrible. read more

The #1 most persistent, aggressive and offensive mass marketer I've ever encountered. 1. Endless insensitive mailings from them basically asking if I'm dead yet 2. They rudely address me by the nickname my mom used to call me. Completely unbusiness-like. 3. Irresponsible wasteful ... assuming they started hounding me when I turned 21 that's up to 4000 expensively printed paper mailings from them before I die, plus postage and their office overhead in the high rent district. I have been VERY disappointed with Neptune Cremation. My sister passed away 8/8/2022. She signed and paid for cremation 3/21/2018. Neptune has not upheld her wishes due to an estranged daughter of 30+ years. He body has been held in cold storage for 3 weeks. It makes no sense. I have power of attorney and am listed on her living will to be able to make decisions and carry out her wishes on her behalf. The salesperson at the beginning was very kind and acted as if she might care. She said after I paid for the services I would not deal with her anymore. That was strange to me. It was ALL downhill from their. The next person I delt with fell of the face of the earth and after 10 days I still had no response regarding my mom's creamation. I had to answer ALL the questions AGAIN that I had already answered with the saleperson. Extra charges were added that I was never made aware of and there was a 10 business day difference regarding the date the cremation was to take place...the manager Ramon took over and blatenly lied to me. My moms clothes were to be returned...I was told they burned them. They were to inform me the day she was to be cremated and they did not do that. Ramon said he was sorry and asked how could he make this right. Too late for me I said. Fast forward, I went to get a copy of my mom's death certificate and needed to provide the contract for cremation. I called up Ramon who is never in the office. I received a call back from receptionist saying they had the death certificate there. I went to pick it up and I was to receive 2 certified copies per the rep and only received 1...how long had they had the certificate? no one would answer me. That was Thursday afternoon. Still no call back from Ramon, still no copy of the agreement I signed. Today is Monday. Oh but wait, today I received an email from the very first director who fell off the face of the earth asking me to write a positive review for the company. I am positive that everything I have written is the truth. Losing a loved one is very difficult. I paid top dollar expecting decent service. I received anything but decent. Do yourselves a huge favor and find another company to help you. Save yourselves the grief and the money. read more

We purchased a plan for my wife's grandmother, since we knew she was very close to the end. We were told that Neptune Society would contact us within hours after the death. We were also told that the mortuary would be near our home. Well, neither were true. We had to initiate ALL calls to Neptune Society. And the mortuary was across town, not near our home. Yet, this was not the end to horrible experience. Once the ashes were ready, Neptune Society did not contact us. We called them and found out the ashes were ready for several days. Then, when we went to pick up the ashes, across town, the lady that we had been speaking with asked if we had an appointment. An appointment? Why wouldn't she have set up an appointment when we were speaking to her on the phone? Then, when were performing the graveside service and committal, we were informed that the urn was not a burial urn and we had to purchase a burial vault to place the urn into. We had told both the sales rep and the mortuary that we intended to have the remains buried. I'm not sure why they would not point out that the urn could not be buried. This seems like a really good service, but the empty promises and extremely poor customer service have ruined any chance of using these company ever again. read more

The arrangements were all handled well but we never received notice that her ashes had been scattered and where. We let it go. My father passed a few weeks ago. Again the arrangements were handled well. In the paper work I sent, I stated the address where his cremains were to be shipped. I also told 2 staff members and gave them the address verbally. They sent the cremains to the wrong address. Fortunately we were able to recover them but this was inexcusable. read more
