Back again ! Greeted by two wonderful happy women ! Last time we were rushed out of the place by two men who wanted to close the shop an half an hour early because they had no desire to be there ! I would imagine it was the two women husbands! Hence , the rush noted in my last post! The mood was very different! Food every where! Just treats : like overloaded cookies ; two for $8. It seemed it a little stale , but dipped in milk , most excellent! Pimento cheese loaded with bacon : over $10! This is a great little place to explore! Really not a blue collar place, but great for a treat in the middle of nowhere. xamen des cols bleus:

An excellent stop for unique food items to eat now or later. In fact, I found a number of Christmas gifts here during my visit AND scored lunch for a winery visit. Be sure to get one of the sandwiches or enjoy their chicken salad which is delicious!

Spotted this cuuuuute little market on the way to John Monroe's Highland. We had to stop on the way back - because, CUTE. The staff was friendly, helpful, and COVID safe. Orders are taken outside the door and treats are passed off, contactfree. We had two PERFECT Dirty Chai lattes with oat milk; truly perfect espresso, not too sweet chai. Please pop in!

Great little enclave of tasty treats and wine. Stopped briefly for sandwiches and quick conversation. Staff was amazing and the service was excellent.

Great foods and incredible coffee. They'll let you bring your own mug.

The delightful coffee kept me coming back. Then I had a breakfast sandwich and it was incredible. Hot, fresh, made with care. Lovely little gift shop and foods prepared to go. This is not your fast food "subway" but I was amazed how inexpensive it is for such quality foods. They also have oat milk etc. great friendly people. Support your local businesses.

Stopped here to pick up sandwiches to picnic at Jefferson Vineyards. It wasn't particularly busy but they seemed like they were just opening up (it was around 11am). Took a few minutes for him to take our order but it took unusually long to get two sandwiches. It was bad cuz we're talking cold and very basic sandwiches to put together. It took about a half hour making us late for our reservation at nearby Jefferson Vineyards. Should have just stopped at a regular sandwich spot on our way like Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's but wanted to take up recommended spot from vineyard. Guy threw in two bags of chips since we waited so long

Make a reservation, but there's also a little grab and go spot right when you walk in. Breakfast cocktails were yummy! I didn't feel guilty having a chocolate espresso martini for breakfast:) Bananas Foster Beignets was ridiculous! Benedict options were so unique. I recommend asking questions to make sure you're getting what you want. Hindsight I would have added protein to the green tomato Benedict. We also got a bowl that was much more like a salad and not like a hearty bowl. All were delicious, just not what was expected. We would return for sure!

The atmosphere being in an old house is cool. Our server was very overwhelmed and had a trainee. We got waters and looked over the menu. I first ordered the green tomatoes app. Later into service... wife ordered scrambled eggs with sausage and fruit, I had the Crab Benedict My daughter breakfast tacos. The app came out quickly..great! The mains came out around 30+ minutes. A bit long imo. Overall food was good, not great. Most disappointing was the tomatoes that lacked flavor. The crab Bennie was pricey and fell flat. My wife and daughter both enjoy their dishes, but eggs were somewhat dry. Coffee was very good. It's a beautiful place with outdoor option. But the food is over hyped and pricey. The service was rushed. I still will go back. 3.5 rounding up for atmosphere.

This restaurant is clearly formerly a small home, given how it has so many small rooms set up like bedrooms, hallways, narrow stairs, and living rooms with six-pane windows. Plenty of mason jars and small flowers spread on each table. The food exceeded my expectations. The coffee and espresso were made by a skilled barista who steams great milk and can tell apart a cortado, latte, and flat white. My sweet potato hash was very tender, salted to perfection, and matched with a good amount of turkey sausage they managed to present piping hot but not dried out. My companion's smoked salmon and poached egg easily split under a fork and coated the plate in delightful yolk. Sensibly prepared. Nothing dry or cold. I found the entrance quite difficult to locate when coming from the Oakhurst Inn, probably a consequence of how the property is laid out with so many cabins and houses on the grounds. If you can manage the maze of stairs and paths, you'll find a charming cafe across from a new housing development. Definitely come here if you want good espresso or an appetizing breakfast.

My trip to Charlottesville will be remembered for many reasons. It will be a fond memory and keepsake of this trip with my dog during this time in her life. Thank you, Oakhurst Inn for providing this service and making things so seamless. If you travel with pets, Oakhurst Inn offers select rooms. Call in advance to make sure one is available. Squeaky clean hardwood floors all over. Tasteful old furniture. Every staff member I spoke to was polite, courteous, and happy to help. The self serve stations for hot coffee, tea, and cold water was a convenient resource outside of the door. This inn appears to be made of several former homes that were turned into a campus of buildings making the Oakhurst Inn. It's not a single building. The small lawn in the center of the complex has benches, hammock, and a fireplace that seems welcoming and nice, but I wasn't aware of them until I left. There were a few problems during my stay. The inn requires guests to use valet parking which is $40 per night, not disclosed before my stay, and often required a long wait for the valet to return. This makes it hard to retrieve anything you need from your car. The front desk staff are often missing from the front desk - I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come back and check me in on arrival. Likewise, the bartender is often away from station and you might wait 10 or 30 minutes for the bartender to return. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the hotel rooms. The pool area was extremely dark at night, making it tricky or dangerous to navigate. The pool water was lukewarm, not warm at all. The sauna was out of order and the doorway was small and obscured by chairs. Not accessible and difficult to find. This inn has no gym. The lobby is very small and has no seating for guests or places to hang their luggage, although the nearby lounge has a few leather couches and a fireplace that doesn't appear to be working. Not the most welcoming or convenient. Overall I don't think it's worth the hefty price tag and would stay elsewhere when I return to Charlottesville.
