I recently inherited my father's pickup truck (2000 GMC Sierra) which was in need of a serious tune up to get him running as my daily driver. The guys at GAS (Gary and Jeff) took great care of my father's truck and got him tuned up and back on the road again. They tuned the V6 engine (119k miles) , replaced seals and gaskets to fix oil leaks, and replaced the compressor and blower so that I have air conditioning again! It took a few trips back to the shop to fix all of the issues but each time I was greeted with a smile, hand shake and a "no worries, we'll fix it" attitude. That's customer service! My car was stolen and taken to the lot across the street from here, but had a flat, I had a spare but no jack and in the midst of all of this Coronavirus crisis it was an hour wait just to get in touch with my roadside assistance much less get somebody out to me. One of the workers here was outside and said that maybe his boss would help us out. These guys were the nicest and most accommodating people ever! They tested out my tire to see if it was repairable (it wasn't), and then changed my tire as quickly as a nascar pit crew! And when I went to tip the guy for his services he said he was happy to help and have something to do and refused to take payment. It was such a nerve wracking process getting my car back, and these guys saved the day! Not all heroes wear capes! Gary and his crew are hardcore. There is no mechanical issue that they can't fix. Shop is clean and these guys know what they are doing. I have my fleet of trucks maintained by them. Sometimes the diagnosis isn't pretty and I pay a lot for their crack service but it is worth it. Always fixed right the first time. Lifesavers! These guys are awesome! We were traveling from out of town with transmission problems and a bad tire and got a referral to Guaranteed Auto. We limped in at about 11:45 am and Gary put a team on our car right away and had all repairs down in 30 minutes at a surprisingly reasonable price. Not only did they get the job done well, they were friendly and encouraging while we waited in their waiting room with donuts (bonus). I can't say enough about this shop. I live on the Peninsula and work in Hayward. I have a mechanic on the other side of the bridge but went into a total panic when my car started acting up on my way home from work. Luckily I had not made it to the bridge. AAA hooked me up with this shop and on a Friday night they stayed open late and made 3 parts runs so that I'd be able to drive home. Next time it was a Friday night again and my car died on the side of the road. They referred me to a tow company and when I looked up I found my mechanic Wesley parked in front of me. They didn't want me left of the side of the road alone. This time I had to leave the car over the weekend but they changed out her fuel pump on Monday and all is well. I wholeheartedly recommend this shop. These are nice people who know what they are doing and actually care for the people they serve! read more

I had a very bad experience with Guaranteed Auto Service. It started with a brake job. I could feel the brakes were shot so I stopped by Guaranteed Auto Service to have them check it out. We had a conversation covering all potential issues and causes and I left my vehicle there confident they would provide good service. The brakes were repaired satisfactorily and the price was fair. I did notice brake fluid all over the insides of my aftermarket wheels and tires. If you don't know, brake fluid is very corrosive and any professional shop would make their best attempt to keep it off any components. But being that the brakes were functioning and I had my car back I cleaned it off and didn't think anything more of it. Two weeks later I hear a potentially serious grinding noise as I drive. I jack my car up and sure enough, wheel bearings are shot. At this point I can wiggle my wheel back and forth approximately 1/2". I take the vehicle back to Guaranteed as this was an item they had specifically checked for wear. It was even listed as OK on my invoice. For the wheel bearings to be that long gone and for them not to catch it worries me, especially when this was an item we specifically discussed two weeks prior. So my car is there, they have confirmed it is the wheel bearings and that they are not sure how this item was missed. I give them the chance to make things right and that's when my attitude towards Guaranteed Auto Service really took a turn for the worst. The owner calls me and say the parts are expensive (sealed wheel bearing units). I ask how much and he says about $600 a piece. Luckily I know a decent amount about cars and this immediately raises a red flag. I look online and I can get the EXACT parts (same brand, same part #) through summit for $178 each. I call back thinking there must be a mistake. There wasn't. I was then told "100% markup is typical in this industry" and that they aren't reinventing the wheel here. I certainly hope your experience was or will be better than mine. But I will not be returning and will be on the lookout for a shop that actually does what they say they are going to. Also one that can correctly calculate markup percentages. 100%? more like 237% and that is NOT typical. read more
