Food is 5 star. The Tequila Chicken Pasta dish was out of this world flavorful. It seems it's primarily a nightclub. I wish I could say the ambience was nice. It's not. They need new tables, or at least paint the old ones. We ate next to a drum kit. I'll bet their live music is killer. They have Mexican sport stations on at all times. Plus a nice selection of Guatemalan beer and our server was knowledgeable and helpful. My meal was 17$ and I got three meals out of it. We'll be back. The food is DELICIOUS. Full of flavor. We had the Pollo en crema, Camaron Frito, and the Shrimp Pasta. The portions were good as well. The waiter was nice and conversed with us about Guatemala and the culture there. We came during the day, so there wasn't much going on, but there is a dance floor. I wanted to go try out a Guatemalan restaurant out of the crowded Los Angeles area. I looked this place up. Me and my family decided to try it out. It's a hole in the wall. We got there and the lady server was very very nice she served out delicious food. It was very authentic. We had Caldo de Gallina, Garnachas, we had Chile Rellenos all of which was very delicious and served hot. I think that hand made tortillas would've been nice but to get this kind of food out there was unexpected. I felt like I was in Guate. Can't wait to go back! I would like to see this place grow! I ate here once - soft tacos that were pretty good. It seems to be a popular place for the guys who do so much of the hard, hot work in our valley - there are generally work trucks parked out in front - here for a cold one and/or some authentic food of their home country. I wouldn't rate the place lower just because the bar and sports t.v. atmosphere isn't for me - that wouldn't be fair. But then for ages they had an old, dirty table out front - only used when they were hosting something with live music and the activity spilled outside. There it stayed, month after month, never wiped clean and often there was litter on or near it that wasn't picked up. I don't get it - how can an owner or manager not realize what a bad impression that makes? But they didn't, so I wasn't convinced that the cleanliness standards in the kitchen would be spectacular. That's why, despite some of the great reviews, I've never been back even to order take-out. (To their credit removing the table must have been their decision - I can't believe it would have been at the behest of Ramon Plaza, which for years has been the most poorly managed commercial property for miles around. It used to be better and could/should be such a nice little shopping center but they allow it to deteriorate. They allow addicts to loiter, leave trash and clutter, and do some real damage. And they won my coveted award for "most prolonged period with a scary dark parking lot" because for a couple of months they were too broke or something (I was told) to repair some circuits so NONE of their parking lot lights were working. This in a center with a 24 hour gym and other businesses open at night! The tenants were livid but couldn't get anything done about it. No wonder most of the remaining vacant units stay vacant; sometimes deals have been made and signs posted that say "------- Coming Soon!" - but the deals nearly always fall through. For the sake of our neighborhood I hope this center is sold to some entity with a functioning brain who gives a damn.) read more

Was trying to find a place with good ratings still open after 8 PM for dinner this popped up while driving around Rancho Mirage. I and 2 coworkers headed there and while at first glance I thought we were going to get back in the car and head somewhere else, it turned out to be a great find! Good food transcends the appearance of a dive any day, and this place delivered on food. Even better, they created a new dish on the spot (grilled vegetable plate) as we needed more vegetarian options for one of the diners. Server was friendly and even turned down the music when we asked him. Guatemalan is different from Mexican, and the food tasted fresh. We have been searching HI and LOW for a quality Guatemalan restaurant. It's funny to find one in Cat city considering I live in LA and there is nothing that compares to it. We tried both breakfasts and both were amazing. I had the tipico breakfast, which comes with eggs (ranchero style), black beans, plantains, hard cheese, cream, and your choice of sausage or bacon. I found it by accident the other day for lunch GPS took me there thinking I wanted BBQ.. Heelllooooo need to bitch slap my GPS or maybe not.. What a nice surprise and GREAT grub. If you have ever been to Guatemala or neighboring countries you'll know you don't need a fancy ass atmosphere to get good food no sir eee. This is a bare bones joint but very clean and friendly. You know the kind.. vinyl chairs, plastic table cover just what you would get back home and so is the food and after all that's what counts. The food is REAL what more can I say.. the folks that run it are REAL and the whole experience can be had for under $10 for lunch and maybe push it to $15 for dinner. I guess the best way I can describe this place is #1.. I will go again and again.. #1 I will send my friends there that are maybe looking for something different or to switch from going out for Mexican.. #1 HEY.. Best place for Guatemalian food, my wife and I ordered pupusas, garnachas, churrasco, and mojarra. With some tikys and famosa beers, amazing, just by itself definitely worth the trip to Palm Springs, we have tried other places in LA and they are not even close to the food served here, don't get fooled by the exterior facade, go inside and enjoy the food!!! read more

Both breakfast options are AMAZING & enjoyable at any time of the day. The chorizo is delicious, the frijoles negros refritos (like a black bean purée with sprinkled cheese on top) pair perfectly with the scrambled eggs, and the fried plantains are out of this world.. the second breakfast option has all of the above, plus carne asada, which was VERY tender and flavorful. When we walked in, we were greeted by a raucous group of Spanish-speaking men at the bar and a no-frills, partially dark interior. Since no one greeted us, we almost turned around and walked out. However, the friendly owner finally appeared from the kitchen and seated us. I am glad we stayed. The food is really, really good and the drinks potent. We stayed with the Guatemalan choices, and the flavors are distinct from Mexican food. It does feel a bit like you walked into a dive south of the border, and the loud, tipsy men at the bar contributed to that ambience. We will be back. read more

Was looking for Latin American seafood with my Salvadoran wife and came upon this place after driving around Palm Spring area. What a great surprise, even more so for my wife. Let me start by saying my wife who knows her centroamerican food was pleasantly surprise when she ordered the "Ceviche de Concha Negra". She loved it. This was just like being on the coast in El Salvador even though the restaurant is Guatemalan food. A plate like hers is hard to find. For me I order the Champechana. An enormous seafood cocktail served in a large glass V shaped cup. I loved it and it was filling. Don't forget to order a Famosa beer! Overall my wife and I loved the food and left very satisfied. The restaurant seems setup more for karaoke or small live music bands, but this is also a restaurant too. Prices were fair, about on par with other good quality food at casual restaurants.
