    Cuban sandwich and Arepa Pabellon

I was craving a Cuban Sandwich and saw the menu for Guava. It was authentic and beyond delicious. I could have cried from how good our sandwich and arepa were.

Great vibe & even better food! Love the family business. Fresh flavors and ingredients made every bite worth every calorie. Shared the 3 Amigos tostone, plantain & yuca basket. 3 entrees at the table- a Cubano, Arepa (AMAZING), and a chicken sandwich. Homemade hot sauce -holyschmoly.... Tasty and SPICY! Highly recommend.

The special. Ropa vieja with yuca fries and fried bananas , avocado , rice, beans and salad. $16.50.

Delicious. Hearty , full of flavor. It's in an older adobe structure. No music, quiet with great posters.

Pernil split sandwich with Caribbean spice runbed pork and nicely sauced. Great sandwich!

We were on way home from a weekend in Santa Fe, New Mexico and needed a meal for the plane. After searching the internet and yelp, we were intrigued by reviews of Guava Tree Cafe with two locations. It needed to be a quick stop and not a messy meal for the quick plane ride home to Phoenix. We chose the Tin Can alley location as it was closer to our route. The Latin American and Caribbean sandwiches looked too good to pass up. Our order consisted of the Cubano and the Pernil on a crispy and compressed sandwich baguette. A good Cubano has always been a favorite and this did not disappoint. The slow roasted pork was covered in ham, melted Swiss cheese, light coating of yellow mustard and pickles on a pressed roll. It was "perfect" and the flavor was bold. Nicely done! The Pernil was a spiced rubbed and slow roasted Caribbean pork covered in Swiss cheese, carmelized onions and a garlic sauce. It was also pressed. The seasoning was spot on and enough sauce without being sloppy. We encountered a small issue on the plane, other passengers wanted to know where we got the sandwiches at the airpirt and would we sell them? To Guava Tree Cafe, you do a very nice job with these two sandwiches and don't stop being inventive. We will be back to sample more of your delights.

I honestly don't know why people enjoy this place, I regret coming here! We only decided on this joint because the Thai place was closed next door. Walking into the restaurant, you can already smell and see how bad it will be. The restaurant looks unkept and looks extremely old and extremely dirty. We decided to sit outside and I ordered the Guava Pollito. I should've looked at the photos on Yelp, because it came out looking very unappetizing and not edible. I tried to finish the sandwich but ended up throwing it away (I've attached my photo). I would not come back here again.

LOVE this place and all the sandwiches. The yucca fries and Cubano are a 10/10 for me. The sandwiches are cut horizontally giving a thinner slice which is so good.

When visiting Albuquerque I always stop here for lunch. My favorite is the Guava Pollito sandwich. Shredded Chicken Breast, Swiss Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Mushrooms, Greens and Tomatoes, with our signature garlic sauce on wheat. Very flavorful! Friend staff and fast service.

Arepa, cuban sandwich, unique sparkling lemonade (with cinnamon and clove spices)

After our flight in from CA, we caught a ride to this cute, homey cafe with limited outdoor seating. Service was friendly. Ambience was a little dark inside but in a fun adobe-style building with a few 4-seater tables in the front and a couple taller 2-seaters on the side next to the parking spots. Cuban sandwich with fried plantains was good, though had slightly drier bread and meat than some others I have eaten. Fried plantains were delicious and sweet--just the way I like them. My friend and I got the sparkling lemonade with spices (including cinamon and clove), which reminded me of Christmas a little and was refreshing. My friend got the arepa: she found the meat to be a bit dry, could have used more cheese, but overall solid. An overall enjoyable lunch spot: good food, more mom-n-pop ambience, unique lemonade. Probably would not go out of my way to come back, but I'm a little spoiled when it comes to this type of food.

I love love love Guava Tree cafe! I have never had a disappointing experience at their original location in Nob Hill! Their cafecitos are so authentic and good!! I could have 8 of them. The service is always friendly and the ambiance reminds me of my grandmas house, super cozy! The sandwiches are also so good.

Amazing staff and efficient, clean kitchen :)

A hidden gem just steps away from UNM.....the food and vibe and love are as amazing now as they were when I shared my first review several years ago. The main feature of this review, the Pelotero, offered just the right amount of wonderfully tender and artfully seasoned ropa viejo, slightly crispy sweet plantains, yucca fries and a small house salad; and that heavenly creamy garlic sauce continues to rock my world! This excellent "lunch special" plate is accompanied by a large glass of Guava Tree's unusual and delicious lemonade....brown sugar, cloves, and cinnamon make this a unique and refreshing treat! Speaking of that special sauce, my friend's Pernil was topped of with a generous drizzle of that special garlicky wonderfulness. The bite that I enjoyed would have been quite excellent with just the juicy roasted pork and the delectable caramelized onions.....that sauce really took it up a notch! Thanks for continuing to share delicious food prepared with love, Guava Tree! Yelp on!

So yum! Quaint little shop with the best Cubanos. The space had an old house feel to it, lots of rooms to sit in. Good cafe con leches.

K'Lynn's Southern & Cajun Fusion is one of those spots that feels like a real find…read more The catfish is the standout. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and you get a generous portion, which makes the price feel like a steal. My husband's grilled catfish salad was huge and genuinely delicious, not an afterthought like it can be elsewhere. Sides were a bit mixed. The mac and cheese was overdone, but the red beans and rice were excellent, full of flavor and exactly what you want alongside that fish. Only real drawback is the hours. We found ourselves wishing they were open more often because it is the kind of place you want in regular rotation. Overall, great food, strong portions, and real value. We will absolutely be back.

I love Cajun food normally but I'll be honest this really wasn't it…read more The gumbo had a weird pasty chalky taste. It wasn't like a soup how we are used to, it was sort of thick and slimy, the flavor was a little too different. 1 star dish to be honest. We threw it in the trash. The jambalaya was a little better, but it still wasn't great. It actually made it to like a 3.5 star quality dish; it was good enough to eat, so we ate this. The fried oysters were pretty good, especially when dipped in their spicy tartar sauce, 4 stars for this dish. I might actually crave this once in a blue moon. Their Mac and cheese had so much potential. It was thick and creamy how I like it, burned cheese on it was great, they attempted to put som cajun seasoning in it that you can barely taste, but the part that docked them points the most was the Mac was overcooked probably sat on a heat lamp for a very long time. The fries were soggy after only a 5 minute drive. They also use styrofoam, which I personally don't like eating from due to the forever chemicals that leach into the food when it's hot. Also after spending $40 and asking for an extra sauce I got charged a dollar. I mean okay I don't thin the side sauce was worth the dollar but also the sauce that came with it was only filled half way. I mentioned that am still I was charged the buck. The lady up front had an alright demeanor, the lady cooking in the back seemed really sweet and asked me how i found them, had a smile etc. I think they should have someone like that cashiering.
