    Cuban sandwich and Arepa Pabellon

I was craving a Cuban Sandwich and saw the menu for Guava. It was authentic and beyond delicious. I could have cried from how good our sandwich and arepa were.

Great vibe & even better food! Love the family business. Fresh flavors and ingredients made every bite worth every calorie. Shared the 3 Amigos tostone, plantain & yuca basket. 3 entrees at the table- a Cubano, Arepa (AMAZING), and a chicken sandwich. Homemade hot sauce -holyschmoly.... Tasty and SPICY! Highly recommend.

The special. Ropa vieja with yuca fries and fried bananas , avocado , rice, beans and salad. $16.50.

Delicious. Hearty , full of flavor. It's in an older adobe structure. No music, quiet with great posters.

Pernil split sandwich with Caribbean spice runbed pork and nicely sauced. Great sandwich!

We were on way home from a weekend in Santa Fe, New Mexico and needed a meal for the plane. After searching the internet and yelp, we were intrigued by reviews of Guava Tree Cafe with two locations. It needed to be a quick stop and not a messy meal for the quick plane ride home to Phoenix. We chose the Tin Can alley location as it was closer to our route. The Latin American and Caribbean sandwiches looked too good to pass up. Our order consisted of the Cubano and the Pernil on a crispy and compressed sandwich baguette. A good Cubano has always been a favorite and this did not disappoint. The slow roasted pork was covered in ham, melted Swiss cheese, light coating of yellow mustard and pickles on a pressed roll. It was "perfect" and the flavor was bold. Nicely done! The Pernil was a spiced rubbed and slow roasted Caribbean pork covered in Swiss cheese, carmelized onions and a garlic sauce. It was also pressed. The seasoning was spot on and enough sauce without being sloppy. We encountered a small issue on the plane, other passengers wanted to know where we got the sandwiches at the airpirt and would we sell them? To Guava Tree Cafe, you do a very nice job with these two sandwiches and don't stop being inventive. We will be back to sample more of your delights.

I honestly don't know why people enjoy this place, I regret coming here! We only decided on this joint because the Thai place was closed next door. Walking into the restaurant, you can already smell and see how bad it will be. The restaurant looks unkept and looks extremely old and extremely dirty. We decided to sit outside and I ordered the Guava Pollito. I should've looked at the photos on Yelp, because it came out looking very unappetizing and not edible. I tried to finish the sandwich but ended up throwing it away (I've attached my photo). I would not come back here again.

LOVE this place and all the sandwiches. The yucca fries and Cubano are a 10/10 for me. The sandwiches are cut horizontally giving a thinner slice which is so good.

When visiting Albuquerque I always stop here for lunch. My favorite is the Guava Pollito sandwich. Shredded Chicken Breast, Swiss Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Mushrooms, Greens and Tomatoes, with our signature garlic sauce on wheat. Very flavorful! Friend staff and fast service.

LOVED this place! The food is amazing and so flavorful. The staff is so sweet and helpful. We loved it here!

Arepa, cuban sandwich, unique sparkling lemonade (with cinnamon and clove spices)

After our flight in from CA, we caught a ride to this cute, homey cafe with limited outdoor seating. Service was friendly. Ambience was a little dark inside but in a fun adobe-style building with a few 4-seater tables in the front and a couple taller 2-seaters on the side next to the parking spots. Cuban sandwich with fried plantains was good, though had slightly drier bread and meat than some others I have eaten. Fried plantains were delicious and sweet--just the way I like them. My friend and I got the sparkling lemonade with spices (including cinamon and clove), which reminded me of Christmas a little and was refreshing. My friend got the arepa: she found the meat to be a bit dry, could have used more cheese, but overall solid. An overall enjoyable lunch spot: good food, more mom-n-pop ambience, unique lemonade. Probably would not go out of my way to come back, but I'm a little spoiled when it comes to this type of food.

I love love love Guava Tree cafe! I have never had a disappointing experience at their original location in Nob Hill! Their cafecitos are so authentic and good!! I could have 8 of them. The service is always friendly and the ambiance reminds me of my grandmas house, super cozy! The sandwiches are also so good.

Amazing staff and efficient, clean kitchen :)

A hidden gem just steps away from UNM.....the food and vibe and love are as amazing now as they were when I shared my first review several years ago. The main feature of this review, the Pelotero, offered just the right amount of wonderfully tender and artfully seasoned ropa viejo, slightly crispy sweet plantains, yucca fries and a small house salad; and that heavenly creamy garlic sauce continues to rock my world! This excellent "lunch special" plate is accompanied by a large glass of Guava Tree's unusual and delicious lemonade....brown sugar, cloves, and cinnamon make this a unique and refreshing treat! Speaking of that special sauce, my friend's Pernil was topped of with a generous drizzle of that special garlicky wonderfulness. The bite that I enjoyed would have been quite excellent with just the juicy roasted pork and the delectable caramelized onions.....that sauce really took it up a notch! Thanks for continuing to share delicious food prepared with love, Guava Tree! Yelp on!

The cold cuts were flavorful, the bread was fresh, and the meat to bread ratio was just right since I like more meat than bread. This is an excellent option for a quick lunch, but I would recommend staying to eat if you can. The decor is simple, the space is clean, and there are a few tables available. It does get busy during the lunch rush, but the line moves quickly and is well worth the wait. While the banh mi definitely steals the show, there are plenty of other options on the menu. Their banh cuon, thin rice noodles filled with ground pork and wood ear mushrooms, was good, though still second to the sandwiches. They also offer pate chau, a flaky puff pastry filled with pork pate, including a New Mexico style version with chicken and green chile. They have a variety of Vietnamese desserts like che, which I did not get a chance to try this time. My coworker loved their traditional Vietnamese hot coffee. I do not drink coffee, but I did enjoy one of their smoothies, which was refreshing and delicious. Overall, CODA Bakery is a go to spot for authentic Vietnamese flavors and one of the best places in Albuquerque for banh mi.

I've been going there ever since. A few years ago, they added a bakery. It is chock full of delicious cookies, eclairs, cannolis, and you can even get a wedding cake there. Most recently, I went with some coworkers for lunch and ordered the Bella Mozzarella sandwich. Beautiful, thick slices of fresh mozzarella, loaded with tomatoes and basil. The bread was super fresh, and the potato salad was very flavorful. My coworker got an eclair on our way out. I just had a bite and it was divine. The older gentleman behind the counter was courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is laid-back, and the side wall is covered in shelves that contain imported pasta and various other products from Italy. There's a freezer case filled with premade meals and meat. I've been going here for almost 40 years - not sure what it's going to take to get it through my…read morehead that Tully's just isn't to my taste. Over the years I keep going back, about once a year: I've had their sandwiches, their pastries, their pies . . . all kinda "meh" and all priced pretty reasonably but not inexpensively. Sandwiches give you a lot of everything . . . except flavor. Pastries are . . . fine. Pies are . . . fine, and kinda small (and not inexpensive, maybe reaching towards pricey); it's the kinda thing you are willing to pay for in order to bring it to a gathering, only to find almost no one bothers to eat it. And so you don't bother. The cookies are pretty good, actually. (And, yes, I know Italian delis - my Italian grandparents brought me to them in New York when I was a child. However, I'm not judging Tully's against these (as in "it's not as good as Back East"), I'm just saying it never really turns my crank.) Today I had a hot chicken, cheese, onion and pepper sandwich, the Carmela. It was a lot of food. But . . . not a lot of flavor. A whole lot of drippy mess in the bottom of my basket, though: water absolutely sopped through the (completely unmemorable tasting) bread loaf and pooled at the bottom of my basket as I ate in. The potato salad served alongside was fine - like what you'd get at Albertson's. The chicken was tender and . . . essentially without flavor, not even salt. There had clearly been a little marinade (I could sense some oregano and maybe garlic in there) but man could this thing have used about five times as much seasoning and then a healthy dose of a vinegar/garlic/oregano dressing on top of it. Bland. Lots of food in that $17 (almost $25 with tip) sandwich, but not a lot of enjoyment. I've had other Tully's sandwiches (both for here and to-go) that were better, but I can't really recall any of them . . . and I _never_ rush back. Like I said, this is a place I think about ("Hey, I'm right nearby; I should try Tully's again!") about once a year . . . and then, meh. To be fair - I believe that I am pretty out in left field on this take: Tully's is popular and always hopping. Get here early unless you want to stand in line. I only had to wait about three minutes to order, but by the time I left at noon this Friday there was a line to order all the way from the counter to the door. In terms of the room, it's a deli. Reasonably well set out with a decent amount of seating set out well, as well as some outside seating that you might want to try when it's not in the nineties. You order at the counter, pay, go get your own fountain drink (they also have some beer and wine, which they will serve you), find a seat and they'll bring it to you. When you're done, you bus it yourself. Pleasant staff - I don't regret tipping, although they don't do much. (As others have mentioned, if you get a cup of water, Tully's generously gives you a decent sized Solo cup - another plus.) It's fine. If you go, at least get yourself some cookies - they're pretty good.

Their brisket, I really enjoy. It is fall apart tender, but it doesn't fall apart. Which I appreciate. It separates nicely when bitten into so you are not pulling a piece of brisket out when you are biting into your sandwich. The sandwich is jam packed with a generous serving of the brisket so I can't complain about that. I've only had the pleasure of the having the beans, and cream corn casserole among the sides. I can vouche for the tastiness both of them. The beans could probably be replicated, but the corn casserole is pretty unique in my opinion. I really liked it. Something like a corncake with bits of corn scattered through out. The sandwich alone is $13 or a combo for $15 which includes a side. I little on the high end in my opinion, but you won't be hungry when you are done. The only other fault in my opinion is the temperature. Both times I had them, my brisket was luke/room temp. Not really very warm at all. I dunno, but depending on your circumstances, you could always bring it home and nuke it! Sorry, no pics, I scarfed it both times without a single snap!
