I had such a blast working with Guillermo and his team to create two looks for my wedding, and everything came out completely stunning! I came to Guillermo with inspiration for what I wanted based on things I had tried on in bridal shops, and he adapted those ideas to make them so much better and more "me" than I ever could have found in a store. Everything fit perfectly and flattered my body precisely. The clothes moved beautifully during my wedding events and were a pure joy to wear. My mother also had her mother of the bride outfits made by Guillermo and she loved the process and looked fantastic. We both can't wait to have another opportunity for custom made clothes! Guillermo leads a talented team and, as a hobby sewist myself, it was super fun to get a peek into this amazing world of couture and see all the fabulous projects they were working on. I especially want to give a shout out to Manny, who drew the design for the embroidery on my top, came up with a very cool idea for 3D details on the top, and helped me with my accessory choices. I needed a dress made from scratch in two weeks for my wedding in Lima, Peru. Guillermo was gracious and speedy and made me a beautiful couture one-of-a-kind dress for my special day. He styled my dress to fit perfectly with my body and even came in on Memorial Day for my last fitting to ensure that everything was perfect from start to finish. I agree with below review. Don't go to Guillermo. He asks for payment first, and seems all nice, but after he gets his money he's horrible. So unorganized. Doesn't remember his appointments and doesn't really seem to care and take his time altering your dress. Doesn't really work on your dress until the last minute!! I took my wedding dress to Guillermo because I saw him on the NY mag list for good wedding tailors. I don't know what the f**k NY mag was thinking. He's NOT GOOD. I had about 4 fittings and he never had anything done until the day before I came to pick it up. He had me stressed out until I finally picked up my dress. Not a good experience. He even forgot that he had an appt with me one day and he looked all confused when I came in. He literally had nothing done every time I came in, so I kept asking him why nothing was being done. He always ended up giving me 100000 excuses. Finally the day before I had to pick it up, he had everything finished, BUT I went in twice in one day just because it was done SO last minute. AND I work, so it was VERY inconvenient that I had to go back twice. It looked fine, but the process was horrible. He doesn't seem to care about your dress since he got paid up front. BEWARE. DO NOT GO TO SOMEONE WHO ASKS FOR PAYMENT FIRST. This actually reminds me that I will write to NY magazine that they should take him off the list. read more

I am so pleased with every dress he has tailored for me. His team's craftsmanship is simply unmatched. My wedding dress was taken in a full size, hemmed and the straps were shortened. Despite his alterations, every bead and sequin looked as though they were untouched--he's that good! Guillermo himself is also a very genuine person with a lovely demeanor that is always positive and professional. He is truly a skilled tailor and a great person! Guillermo saved my wedding dress!! After weeks and weeks going back and forth to a terrible seamstress in Brooklyn I ended up with a terrible uneven patchy looking dress 2 days before my wedding that was unwearable. I emailed Guillermo late at night telling him my situation and my incredibly short time frame. He saw me first thing the next morning and completely fixed the dress in a day and a half. Not only did he rescue me but the quality was far superior, the atmosphere was calm and welcoming and the cost was very reasonable. Added to the challenge was the groom's mother desire to have the bride wear her wedding dress from decades ago. My chore was to get the dress styled and tailored. Where does one go? Horrible!!! Do not give this man a dime of your money. Unprofessional, irresponsible, disorganized, dishonest and untalented. I hired Guillermo to design my wedding dress after several failed attempts at trying to find the specific dress I was visualizing. I was in the market for a short, lace, fitted wedding dress. I couldn't find any bridal ateliers or designers who carried this look and so I decided to hire a dress designer to make it for me. I did some research online and for some godforsaken reason, New York Magazine and another reputable source both recommended Guillermo. In my initial meeting with him he was all smiles and over the top promises. When I stated my budget of $2,500, he claimed he starts at $4,500. I reluctantly agreed to his price of $4,800 under the condition that I pay for half in cash to avoid a portion of the taxes. *Remember this for later. After that first meeting, it was a crash and burn experience. I have a traditional 9-5 desk job but Guillermo operates in a fantasy world where his clients should drop everything they're doing to accommodate his rigid schedule. He only works Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-6pm. He refused to be flexible with days and times and I had to move my very busy and demanding work schedule around several times for him. All in, I had about 10 appointments with him and here's why: There were two separate occasions where he completely forgot about our appointments and instead of squeezing me in, he made me reschedule. The woman he hired to handle administrative tasks is totally disorganized and was rude/unapologetic on a consistent basis. Not once did she reconfirm an appointment with me. I always had to reach out and often times she didn't respond to my emails so I had to call her at the office to make sure we were still on. After forgetting about one appointment, you'd think they'd be more aware the next go around...nope. It happened again. The second time I received a rushed apology. How nice of them. On top of forgetting appointments, they were always running ~15 minutes behind causing me to go over my 1 hour allotted lunch break. *Beware: they won't let you take a picture of the dress that you're paying them to make which is very frustrating. When it came time for me to pay the second installment, they didn't tell me ahead of time. Instead they sprung it on me while I was in their office because who doesn't walk around NYC with over $2,000 in cash on them? I clearly didn't have enough and to make matters worse I forgot about our agreement as I was overwhelmed with wedding, work and personal things. When we first agreed to the 50% in cash, I expected them to have that noted somewhere. Silly me. I absentmindedly handed them my card and they swiped it. Later on when I I noticed I was overcharged by $200, I brought it to their attention. His admin looked at me smugly and replied, "it's too late, it's already been invoiced and there's nothing we can do." So much for friendly customer service. This was after I emailed him and he responded, "let's talk about this next week and figure out how to fix it for you." Half way through the cycle when I attempted to lift my arms, he causally mentioned that I wouldn't be able to raise my arms at all due to the design of the dress. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? What bride doesn't want to raise up her arms or be twirled around on her wedding day? I was livid. He knew what the design would be and how it would be made from day one of our initial consultation. Fast forward to a week before my wedding/final fitting, I met them in their office for my second to last fitting. There was a very noticeable and very ugly fold of extra fabric down the front of the dress. I pointed this out and he promised he would fix it. When I showed up for my final fitting, it wasn't fixed. He completely forgot about it. I brought my friend with me as a witness in case anything went awry and it sure did! She told him he HAD to fix it before the end of the day. He claimed it would be done by 5pm. I rushed back to his office at 5pm....no difference. I was flying out the following morning for our wedding and rightfully so, I started totally freaking out. He then proceeded to lie and claimed it was "the light that was causing the illusion of a ripple in the dress". I literally wanted to punch him after he said that. I told him he had the evening to fix it. Finally, at 8:30pm, one of his workers dropped it at my apartment. I tried it on and not only was the ripple still there (though less noticeable) but it was now a size too big because he had to "take it out a bit" in order to smooth the ripple. Needless to say...I was beside myself. To top it all off, half way through my wedding reception, the dress ripped down the side!! Guillermo is a real piece of work. He is a subpar dress maker and a terrible "business man". I'm taking him to small claims court in June and I fully intend to get every last cent back from him! read more

Horrible!!! Guillermo made a wedding dress for me and the entire experience was awful. He was pleasant at first until he got the full payment and then he was difficult, unresponsive and rude. Went to 5 fittings and dress still didn't fit. Bought an extra plane ticket to fly my dress back when it was supposed to be done and it was not done. Was charged $700 extra for a built in bra that did not fit. Was told I needed to lose weight repeatedly. Asked for a refund or partial refund and was not responded to. Was told by Guillermo that he did not sew the garment himself. Did not get my dress until 1 week before the wedding. Please DO NOT work with this person, especially for your wedding. This experience completely ruined my entire wedding and I still regret it. Between traveling to see him, and the dress I am out thousands and I had to wear a last minute dress that was not a wedding dress. I am so disappointed. read more

I agree with Stella and Rinata's review below. Avoid at all costs. Charges exorbitant prices upfront, then produces products worth nothing close to what you paid. Totally unorganized. Every single appointment was rescheduled. A dress he said would take 2 weeks to make I couldnt pick up until 2 months later, and I had to sit and wait in the office for 45 minutes while the seamstress was frantically trying to finish. I ended up demanding a refund when I got the dress because it was made so terribly (the refund I thankfully did get). Do your research and find somewhere else. read more

He created the most beautiful, elegant gown that was sexy but also age appropriate. I had several fittings throughout the process and no detail was overlooked - all to ensure that I had the best possible fit. The appointments were made so that they fit around my work schedule, and he and his assistant were very helpful and generous with their advice. After looking at the typical dress stores, I knew that what I envisioned for my wedding dress was something that had to be created from scratch. I found Guillermo Couture through a Google search and after meeting him in person, I knew this was the place that was going to create exactly what I wanted. The final product was above and beyond what I ever could have imagined, and Guillermo made me feel like a princess on my wedding day. Throughout the whole process I must have visited Guillermo over 20 times, and each time he listened attentively to all my ideas, and he was just so easy/flexible with all the ideas I threw at him. In addition to Guillermo, Rosie & his staff was amazing and made me feel so special. I would highly recommend Guillermo Couture to anyone who is looking to create the wedding dress of their dreams at an affordable price. While I hopefully won't have to use Guillermo Couture for another wedding dress, I would not hesitate to use him for other occasions, and have referred all my friends to his services.
