Pinpoint Bridal is incredible! I came in with my mom's 36 year-old wedding dress, which had also been her mom's dress in the 60s, and it was in terrible condition when I dropped it off. My wedding dress was altered to perfection and fit me like a glove! The whole experience was so pleasant and completed in a timely manner.

On trend with the last minute person I am, I purchased my dream dress off the rack at RK Bridal. Because of the short turn around time, I could not get my dress altered at RK Bridal so they gave me a list of tailors that could work with my short (and last minute) time frame. Pinpoint Bridal was on the top of the provided list and rightfully so. The owner of Pinpoint Bridal was kind, patient, and worked efficiently. She has extensive knowledge of wedding dresses and alterations. She hemmed my dress, adjusted the sleeves, added beaded embellishments across the back of my dress, and created the bustle in a short period of time. The owner was so patient with me as I came back several times for my fittings by myself and with my mother and aunt. She even advised me on the type of veil I should purchase, allowing me to try on one of her handmade lace veils as a reference. The store is clean, private, and peaceful. Unlike the larger Bridal stores, where you feel like a number or a sale, the owner makes you feel as though you are her ONLY client. Let me tell you a story about a girl who could never be bridezilla because she had no images in her head of what her wedding would be. A girl who is carefree and mellow all the time. Until, of course, the day where she trusted her mom's seamstress to make very simple alterations to her dress which turned out to be a HUGE mistake. I'm not going to recount all the terrible things that witch did to my dress but I'll just say that when returned to me my dress was held to the hanger with SAFETY PINS. Oh, and this was 5 days before the wedding. Wedding dress alterations done here and in the end it all turned out good and fit well, but the whole process leading up to it was stressful. As with Alison M. I had a sample dress and also had a longer timeline until my wedding, which I'm pretty sure means, they don't do any alterations until right before, because the same thing happened, where the alterations weren't actually complete or done until the very last one. I also had a bunching near the waist/bustline and she kept arguing with me until I pointed it out ecplicitly in the mirror and also had my sister take a picture and then she finally said, ok maybe I see it. They never replaced a crystal they said they would. They can NEVER find your dress. Whatever you do don't loose your ticket number, because they do not save things by name. On top of all that, I had the entire thing quoted and priced and paid half upfront, it included the alterations, cleaning and press, it was all written on this little piece of paper. Then at the last fitting it was a different woman and she tried to charge me extra for cleaning, but cleaning was written ON THE RECEIPT. I could see it, I pointed to it. And she replied "Yes but it should be a separate item" and I said well maybe its because I first came last year and prices were different and she wouldn't honor the ticket as it was written and added $50 onto a check that was already fully written out to include tailoring, clean and press. Then she had the nerve to try to ask for cash only instead of credit card for final payment. What a rip off. If you want to keep your sanity, don't go here. read more

I too am sad to have to leave this review , but I think it's important to share since there is no day quite as important as your wedding day ! I was asked to come back for about 6 fittings and more than one of these fittings I could tell nothing had been changed from previous fitting. But I went along. In the end I paid $500 for a change to the straps, belt sewn on dress, bustle in back and hemmed. I was ok with that price. I didn't experience any customer service issues. They were always friendly and accommodating in the store. The problem really happened on my wedding day. I was aghast to unzip my dress and see that the bottom was dirty (I did not bring in a dirty dress) dress was wrinkled and there were still needles stuck in the dress. In hindsight I should have inspected the dress before the big day. But I still would have expected dress to be in much better condition that it was. My bridesmaids spent about 2 hours cleaning, steaming and removing random pins from the dress. After all this was done the dress did look good. But it wasn't an ideal experience. read more

I was referred from Kleinfields where I bought a sample dress. I initially went to another tailor who said that they would charge $1200 and even then the dress would never fit perfectly. I am so happy that I brought it to Pinpoint as they were able to alter the dress to fit perfectly at a lower price*. I was very surprised to see any negative reviews regarding customer service - in my experience everyone here is lovely. *the total cost of altering and cleaning the dress was $200 more than what I paid for the dress and the total came out to similar to the original price of the dress, which I mention only to warn brides who are buying samples in order to save money! I love my dress and had less than 6 months to get a dress, so I personally have no regrets. read more

I love, love, love them! They performed miracle work on my wedding dress! My dress was about 2-3 sizes too big on me (bought the sample or else it wouldn't arrive in time for the wedding) and I was nervous about finding the right tailor. I did a total of 4 fittings, which should have only been 3 but it was my fault because i forgot to bring the heels and bra to the fitting. They were patient and gave me a 4th fitting. I was half an hour late to one of my fittings and arrived close to their closing time and they were still super nice and sweet despite the fact. I am in love with my dress because they tailored it so well and fits me perfectly. I highly recommend them! read more

I had the best experience here. I had a bridesmaids dress that I needed altered with only one month before the wedding, and the owner (i'm forgetting her name) repeatedly said, "don't worry, I'll take care of you." And she really did. Even though I only went there three times total, each time I went she and her son were extremely warm and inviting, almost as if they knew me. Most importantly, the dress was fitted to perfection, and she even gave me lots of ideas about how to alter the dress so that it could be more casual once the wedding was over. I went to Pinpoint Bridal after getting my dress at a sample sale at Kleinfelds. I decided to go to Pinpoint because they were listed as one of the shops that works with Kleinfelds. I thought I was going to get quality tailoring but I was wrong. I went for an initial fitting and was suppose to come back in three weeks. I called them the week before to confirm my appointment and Remiyze didn't have me on the calendar and couldn't find my dress or receipt. I was told that she would find it and that I should still come on my scheduled date. I decided that if no alterations were done that I would take my dress and go to another seamstress. When I got there, the only alteration that Remizye did was cut my dress - meaning that I wasn't going to another place of business. I had three other appointment at Pinpoint to alter my dress. Each time , it became more and more stressful. I finally got my dress in one piece to find on my wedding day that Remizye still did not do the final alteration along my bust line and before walking down the aisle, my bridal party and I realized that the bustle had ripped and I (and my MOH) had to carry the dress around during the reception. For the amount of $$ paid, it just isnt worth the hassle. Any other place could have done a better job. Stay far away from Pinpoint!!! I also had my bridesmaid dress alter at Pinpoint and Remizye made promises to girls that she didn't keep. I honestly believe that she get so much business that she doesn't know what she is talking about but wants to charge an exuberant amount of money for shoddy work. read more

Sucks that I have to write this but I feel like it should be known. I came in 10/6 (Tuesday), called beforehand to make sure there was a time opening and agreed on a time. When I showed up I still had to wait because there were 2 people there already. Luckily, I was off of work that day so I wasn't in a rush. I brought in a convertible bridesmaid dress and the seamstress reassured me that she's hemmed dresses exactly like this before, which made me feel good. She started pinning the bottom and half way through she decided, "oh I should tell you the price before I keep going. It's going to be $110.". This is EXTREMELY expensive and such a rip off for the dress i brought in. I was comparing with the other bridesmaids on how much they were charged, and they were around the $20-$40 mark. At this point, she had already pinned more than half my dress and it would've been rude to say, "forget it, I'm not paying that". So I let her proceed and was willing to pay that cost and was in a time crunch. I'd set the date to pick up on 10/14 (clearly written on the ticket) and I showed up at 6:30p (30 minutes before closing). I didn't have my ticket (my fault) but i showed her the exact picture of me in the dress and she remembered me but could not find my dress for awhile. Then she remembered it was 'downstairs'. She rang for her son to bring it up. When he brought it up, you could immediately tell she hadn't even touched my dress. 1000s of pins still in my dress, bunched up the exact way we left it. At this point I was LIVID but didn't want to be rude to her. I politely asked her to just give me my dress and I would take my business elsewhere. She offered to rush it in the next hour and delivery it to my apartment, but at that point I wasn't going to pay $110 for a rushed job. I will not be coming back here, they obviously don't understand the importance of a deadline. read more

PLS READ BEFORE BOOKING*****I went to Kleinfelds for my wedding dress. After booking my appt, I stopped into their beautiful and professional sample store and immediately fell in love and purchased my dream wedding gown. The rep there referred me to pinpoint bridal. While I already use a tailor who comes to my home, I felt that I wanted the "experience". I needed the following done: 1) the dress taken in (a lotttttttt) 2) the beading fixed 3) the bustle + hem and 4) the dress cleaned. ***THEY MAKE YOU PAY ALL CASH *** The first fitting was normal aside from the pressure to pay all cash. the assistant was pleasant and gave our group a lot of time. We agreed on alterations and sent the dress in to have the alterations done...and I couldn't wait to go back. THEY BOOK SUPER CLOSE TO YOUR WEDDING DAY ....Everything went downhill after the first fitting. On the second fitting, I could tell that the dress HAD NOTTTTT been taken in. I was told "that I lost weight". (I did not.) ALTERATIONS WERE NOT DONE **** There is no argument- the dress was not altered. For the third appointment, the beading was supposed to be fixed and The bustle was supposed to be done. The beading was NOTTTTT fixed but we were told it would be finished during the cleaning ($250 deposit and the total at this point was only supposed to be $450 including the cleaning). I went to pick up the dress which was already sealed which I KNOW IS NOT how it is EVER done in any reputable bridal salon AS I HAVE BEEN TO MANY. You alwaysssssssss try on the wedding dress after it is complete. Alwayssssssssss. But guess what, the studio was packed and the assistant double booked over my appointment. The dressing rooms were taken and there was no room to try on the dress. I reluctantly took the dress home and opened the bag. ******Nothing had been done. My beautiful wedding dress still has the beading falling off and is dirty at the bottom with hemming and other material hanging off. After spending well over the $500 that we were quoted. Thankfully, I opened this bag before my wedding day. (Unfortunately unlike some of the previous brides who posted before me) *** Ladies, spare yourself the time and manipulation. There is so much to do, don't add on the stress of this tailor as well. Avoid, avoid, avoid. *** In response to the post below mine, when you do bring up that your dress is unaltered while you are in the studio, the response the staff gives to customers is that "alterations were done"...and they argue trying to convince you while your dress falls off! *** I would recommend actually doing the alterations before this place gets shut down. read more

I came here to have my bridal dress altered less than a month before the event. Though my husband and I got married out in LA, few of our family members were able to make it to the wedding and as a result, we wanted to have a (late) wedding reception/ one year anniversary party back East to celebrate with the rest of our family. Balancing school and everything else in between, the women at PinPoint Bridal were very accommodating to my schedule. I love how my dress turned out! If I could give a zero rating I would. My mom had her dress altered here for my wedding two weeks ago and it came back a wrek. Her dress was taken in only one side and the other side was popping out at the chest. It was uneven and had thread pulls all over the dress. When my mom picked up the dress she was unable to try it on and rushed out off the store. This establishment is over priced and very unprofessional. I am so sad to report that my train was completely removed during the "hemming" and "bustle creation" at this tailor. My mother is horrified and we are considering purchasing a new gown. I am so unbelievably upset and my wedding is weeks away. I cannot believe this happened after so many fittings and conversations about how much I loved this train. I will post an update on what we decide to do but please see the photo below. The left side is my beautiful dress BEFORE they took off my gorgeous train...the right side is what is left of my once stunning dress :( words cannot express the absolute panic that I am dealing with now. Additionally, upon inspection with Madame Paulette (thank god for Gladys ~ highly recommend them) the "bustle" was PINNED UP - not created with buttons to pull up and close. Very upset by their workmanship. They were very nice, but butchered my dress. I had to go back six times and they still couldn't get it right. The top of my wedding dress is now asymmetrical, the seams are uneven along my bust line, and there is odd bunching going on. I finally realized that she just was never going to get it right, paid what I owed, took my dress and ran. Over $500 later and my wedding is in two weeks, I now need to find someone else to fix the mess they made. Very very very upset at what they have done to my dress. read more

The lady was nice but it is a total rip-off place for brides-to-be. As many brides do, I was so excited to bring in my wedding gown to seek for professional consultations. I told the lady that I would like to see what you would recommend me to do in order to make it perfect. Then she told me to put it on and she started to pin before telling me the price. She said i have to lift the shoulder up and maybe to tighten the booty area. First the shoulder is what I expected. Then the booty area is kinda redundant as she makes it too difficult to move. Only these two areas of alterations, she told me it is $500. What??? I could have brought it to other reputable tailors in town who I consulted afterwards they said it would be around $150-$200 for the shoulder and a bit in the booty area! read more

Brides, avoid this place like the plague. Having my alterations done here is one of my greatest regrets about the whole wedding process. I just assumed this place would be great since it was recommended by Kleinfeld, but I was sorely wrong. The ~$550 was high, but worth it for a wedding gown IMO. Unfortunately, for what I got, I wouldn't have paid $40. The place is a trek for me and I drove in for every time. I came in maybe 5 times, and each time would have to wait 15+ minutes after my scheduled appointment time to be seen. At the end of my appointments, the seamstress would make the next customer wait like I had, so it seems like a domino effect. For 3 of my appointments, absolutely nothing was done to the dress. Instead, I was driving into the city to try on a completely unaltered dress. One of these times when I was waiting to be seen, I could hear a bride complaining to her party that nothing had been done to her dress, so it seems to be a common theme here. During one of these instances, I had to complain to the assistant that my dress was still unaltered. She understood, apologized, and then trimmed the length of my dress with scissors--This was the $550. That 5min. service was my $550 in alterations. The only thing left to do was to replace a missing gemstone along the waistline, which I was told would be done when I came to pick up the dress at my final fitting. The gemstone was sloppily glued on (you could see the blobs of glue), a completely different size and shape from the others, and also not even glued into the prongs. At that point, they had been holding my dress hostage for months and I didn't have time to leave it there for them to continue to do nothing, so I took the dress and ran. read more

I have nothing to say about their services, just about their customer service. I called 2 days ago to ask when they would open on Saturday so I could get my bridesmaids dress altered. They said 9am. I showed up at 8:45am and waited until 9:25. The store DID NOT open while I was there. I called their number multiple times and no one answered. It was $5 round-trip on the subway and 1.5 hours of my Saturday morning wasted. I was going to go to them because they were recommended by a bridal shop in my neighborhood. Instead I went to the cleaners down the street and they're going to alter the dress for me in one week for probably far less than I would have paid at this place. It seems they don't care about their customers at this store. read more

I bought a Vera Wang dress at a sample sale for a great price, so I was very selective when it was time to choose a tailor. I gathered quotes online and through the telephone, and I put aside an entire Saturday to traipse around Manhattan carrying my dress, garnering in-person quotes for the work I needed done to my dress. Luckily, there wasn't TOO much work: just hemming, cleaning, bustling, and putting on straps (it was a strapless dress when I bought it). Pinpoint was my last stop that Saturday, and I knew it was the one I had to choose. The shop is neat, bright, and presentable and immediately you know who will be doing the work on your dress. It's apparent that it's a family-run business, not one of those wedding accoutrement mills. Remziye also used to work at Vera Wang bridal, so that put me at ease. Their pricing was on the lower side of the quotes I had gathered, not shockingly cheap, but good enough. Going to what some other reviewers have mentioned, it is important that you call to confirm all your appointments with them and keep your slip. Also, keep good records regarding your payments and what you want done to your dress. If you make payments in cash (their preferred mode), be sure to write down what you paid and what the balance is. And be firm about what you want and don't want. I went for my fittings during the height of the summer wedding rush (I had a September wedding) and on more than one occasion, they seemed overwhelmed. But if you follow these guidelines (common sense, really) and bring a little patience, you'll be fine. At each of my fittings, I asked Remziye to hem the dress further because I was paranoid about tripping down the aisle. In the end, it was the perfect length. She constructed straps from the organza left over from the hemming, and they looked great. All in all, I was very pleased with Pinpoint. read more

I had a 90 year old delicate silk wedding gown that needed to be completely re-done to fit my taller figure and become more modern. I honestly did not expect the job to be possible. I was able to show her photos of my style and exactly what I wanted. Over the next few months, I had a series for 4 different appointments where she gradually fitted the dress perfectly to me and in the exact style I asked for. I couldn't be happier with my experience and the way my dress and veil came out. My dress was purchased from a sample sale from Pronovias. Renzi and Fatima customized this dress and paid so much attention to detail. It really couldn't be more perfect for me. Renzi custom made my veil so it was the same shape of my dress and matched the color perfectly. By my last fitting I really felt like they were family because not only are they so talented, they take their time and really know what they are doing and are so warm and genuinely friendly.
