This is a great place to unwind and to grab a beer. You will get seated by a hostess is you choose to not sit at the bar. I've been here twice before and thought the food was unexpectedly good. We're so lucky to be one of the few cities with access to the guinea experimental brewery! Is a must visit from Baltimore, and is only about 20 minutes outside the city, near BWI. There is plenty of parking available there. I've never tried it myself but I do think ride share would be easy to access if you'd like to avoid driving. Speaking of which, there is so much to try here outside of the traditional Guinness! Besides a tour of the brewery and accompanying history lesson, you can also try over 20 experimental flavors! There are flight options and smaller pours available to maximize the variety. The servers are all very helpful and if you're seated at a table rather than at the bar there is an app that facilitates the ordering very easily. Another aspect of Guinness that I love is that the food here is actually excellent, much better than most "brewery" food! There's a huge outdoor space as well with room for my kids to run around if you're with little ones. They have an outdoor bar and will bring food out to you if that's where you decide to post up. Just took the tour and tasting with tour guide PIP. We've been on many tours and unfortunately we found this one to not be good. They were extremely condescending when answering questions. They did swear several times which isn't necessarily bad, except for the entire delivery seemed so unpolished and negative. They ripped on the heritage of the building. "I don't know if any of you have had 7&7 lately but they still taste like shit". They ripped on their parent company. They ripped on other major brewers. It was awful. read more

I wish the table had offered a better view, but was told those tables were only used for reservations. Great location to visit, host an event, take a tour, or just hang out on the beautiful grounds listening to music and enjoying some amazing brews. Went on the History Guided Tour which included 4 generous pours and super interesting information on the Guiness family and the brewing process. Had a quick lunch in the restaurant where you can taste any of the beers, including the many experimental flavors. Had an enormous pretzel with beer cheese and a spicy mustard before diving into a Caesar salad with Maryland spiced shrimp on top which were nicely chilled, seasoned and huge! First time coming to a brewery this size and although I am not a beer drinker I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. First thing I noticed was plenty of parking, and also accessible parking located close to the main entrance. I'm not sure about an elevator though, as there are plenty of steps to walk up to get inside. There's also plenty of outdoor seating, what looked to be firepits and tents. There's a bar area with plenty of seating, some other areas with window seating or seating for two or for scattered throughout. The gift shop and bathrooms also located on the main floor. An upstairs (private events?) and also a downstairs (where beer is brewed). Our bartender let us sample beers, answered all of our questions, and checked in on us frequently. The menu also had a lot of options for non beer drinkers and some with zero proof. Loved that, because it gave me so many options. I didn't end up ordering a drink but I was able to sample some of the lighter beers and actually enjoyed it. I was completely enamored with the pretzel and beer cheese. Was it the best pretzel I've ever had? No. But it could easily feed at least four people, came out nice and hot, and was served with spicy mustard and beer cheese. Absolutely love Guinness! We stopped by the other for dinner in the Taproom. They have such an extensive drink list, and service was extremely quick. The one downside was that the drinks took awhile to arrive and the food was slightly lukewarm, although delicious. The beef stew is phenomenal and I couldn't get enough of the brown bread. read more

This is a wonderful, great, lively place, but the service can definitely be better here. I went to this place in June with a singles group from Meetup.com. There were numerous people who attended, so we were sitting at different tables. The music was so loud that you couldn't hear what the person next to you was saying. When it came time to order food, I ordered food at the table I was sitting at and there were 3 servers who came to our table. Two of the servers were great, but there was one server who was bad. I had ordered a veggie burger and an African American man wearing glasses came to the table and said my name softly, but no one could hear him because the music was so loud. He does not bother to circle around the table and see who to deliver burger to. He only mentions name once at the end of table and walks off. A good server, like the other 2, would walk around the table and see who to give burger to. Like I said before, the other 2 servers were good and walked around the table to make sure people got their food, but the guy holding my burger did not. To me, that guy was lazy if he didn't want to do his job properly. It seems to me that delivery of food could be better at this place and improved upon especially if can't hear what people are saying in general if music is playing so loud. read more

This brewery is huge! You can't miss them with their gigantic sign on the building. I came here for the first time for trivia with a friend. It was a busy busy Wednesday night. We sat at the bar and I sampled a couple beers to figure out which one I liked. I ended up choosing the Peach & Plum Ale which had a very mild peach flavor and wasn't too bitter for me. Trivia host did a great job and we had a good time playing and just hanging out. Lots of space indoors and outdoors. The service is mediocre here but the vibes are fun. Our reservation was at 6pm, and we were not seated until 6:20, when there were plenty of open tables. The service was horrible. We had to text some drink orders in using their QR codes because the server was no where to be found. I, and two others, ordered the beef stew, and it was dry. Literally no gravy/sauce to be found. Had a really amazing tour today with my girlfriend where Pip was our guide for the historical tour. They were incredibly funny, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We went for profs & pints and they were clearly unprepared and probably understaffed, which I understand, but as someone who worked in restaurants for years I can also tell when staff is just lazy. Someone spilled beer at my table and we could not even get napkins. In fact, food was run to our table and the servers just ignored it. I asked the host if there were napkins at the host stand and she just said "nope‍"...Can you get us some? I was completely ignored at the bar. My husband ended up getting napkins from the bathroom, which is gross. No one was given silverware, napkins, plates for the food. Nobody checked on any of the tables. We decided to take another 7 hour drive to visit Baltimore, and especially Open Gate Brewery. This place is more fun in the summer time, even though we did appreciate it when it was cooler a few months ago. They are a wide array of new beers from what was available a month or so ago, and they were all good. We also tried some more food, which was all very good. The staff is really friendly and attentive too. Overall, this is probably one of my top favorite places in Baltimore. I wish them nothing but success. Also, I really wish their beer was available in other parts of the country. Everyone thinks of Guinness as this bitter stout beer, when Open Gate has done a phenomenal job of creating a variety of beer for every type of palette. One criticism: It is ridiculous how many children are playing in the beer garden, many that arent with adults. This isn't a park, and if kids are present, I shouldnt have to duck frisbees, soccer balls, and from them running into us. There were scores of kids in sports jerseys who probably came here after games, but there were no adults with them. We experienced this on two separate days. We went here for the 2024 Arts and Drafts festival they had on their grounds over the weekend. The grounds are well maintained and perfect for this function. All the vendors had booths all around the periphery with lots of items from pottery, jewelry, paintings, and lots more. It was truly an art wonderland. Inside the brewery, there were sampling rooms, a huge 4-sided bar, and a restaurant for those who wanted to have something to eat. From what we saw, the food looked really good and to quench your thirst, 18 kinds of beer on tap! It was very busy there. It was a perfect day for this event, and it drew in the crowds. Most of the event goers ended up inside. For the children, they had a room set up to color refrigerator magnets and a yarn craft. This brought out memories of summer camp days. To top it off, they had a jazz band playing on the balcony, nice touch for all to sit back and enjoy. read more

The only Guinness Brewery outside of Ireland... I'm in there like swimwear! Located in Baltimore, this attraction is worth the visit. Come thirsty, come hungry, and come looking for fun... you will not regret this. Offering everything from a wide variety of Guinness, to tasty food items, to a novelty shop... oh yeah, I almost forgot about their in house tours. This is a must see when visiting Baltimore. Stout de Suite Opened in 2017, at the time of our visit, this *was* the only Guinness Brewery in the US, but they've recently opened another location in Chicago since. This gigantic compound serves as a legit brewery, tap room, restaurant, and even as an event space. The bigger issue that I can't figure is we've been traveling to PA via MD for years, and somehow, this place has eluded us--which is kinda crazy because we're both huge fans of Guinness. The Good: *Huge parking lot, so that shouldn't be an issue. *Private event space available to rent *Order and pay thru the website, and they bring the food out to you. *Lots of great experimental beers that can only be had here and may only be available for a limited time. If they happen to have any barrel-aged beers, then definitely give that a try--those are a real treat! *Service was friendly and fast *Tour was fun and informative, and you get a nice tasting at the end. *Huge dog-friendly outdoor space *Great gift shop full of Guinness swag *On our two visits, we sampled quite a bit of their menu, and I gotta be honest, all the dishes were very good to outstanding. The highlights being the Heritage Burger was cooked perfectly and had great flavor; Guinness Beef Stew was excellent and the concomitant brown bread was delicious; Old Bay Wings were crispy and delicious; and both desserts were very rich and chocolatey. Also, make sure you get their barrel-cut fries as they were truly outstanding crispy fries. The Meh: *Two different menus depending on if you're sitting inside or outside. It's not that I care, but it can cause some confusion factor if you like to study up before arriving. *They ID you before entering the compound, but both times, the security people could care less and had that Baltimore charm we're so used to. The Ugly: *When ordering beers/drinks, it requires you to enter your birthday which is fine--but the fucking thing makes you scroll endlessly to get to your year and month. When you're an old fart like myself, it was a waste of five minutes of my life I'm never getting back. TLDR: I officially call this our new "go-to" restaurant whenever we land at BWI from now on. If you're a fan of beer and classic delicious pub fare, then you need to swing-by. read more

A solid four stars! We went to the tap house for dinner and then took a history tour and tasting. Beer of course was excellent. We tried some of the experimental drafts they had. Food was okay - sandwiches were hot chicken, French dip and crab cake. I thought the crab cake needed more flavor. What a great place to stop when leaving/going to BWI! We stopped in on a Saturday before a flight for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. We sat inside since it was in the 30s and too cold for outside seating but had no issue getting a table. We started with oysters that were fresh, cold, and delicious. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which was yummy. The fries were so good with the house made ketchup! My husband and I split the wedge salad to start. Love the uniqueness with the scotch egg. **DISCLAIMER** I DON'T LIKE BEER! This last visit I made to the Guinness Brewery was my second time there. In my opinion, it's literally FINE. It's a really cool place in and of itself, lots of cool things - there are outside areas, different inside areas, a store section, and some other things. There is a large bar in the middle of the place, which functions as the center of the restaurant portion, which is actually pretty nice. My first visit here was about 18 months ago or so, and I came to meet some long lost work colleagues for lunch. I don't remember exactly what I ordered, but I do know that whatever I had was no longer on the menu on this go around. I also swore they used to have mac and cheese, but I might have been wrong (because it was also not on the menu). Anywho, I came here this most recent time with some current coworkers for trivia night (every Wednesday night at 7p), which was pretty fun to be honest. It was mostly just my friends and I clowning around and having a bite to eat because we are CERTAINLY NOT trivia experts! The service was pretty decent, especially for the place being so busy (again, trivia night - so quite loud and chaotic to be honest). I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Hated it - it was super dry and might have been fried in some old/dirty grease because the meat itself just didn't give that nice freshly-fried vibe. I asked another member of the waitstaff (not our original waiter) if I could get something else, and they were extremely friendly and accommodating, and I switched that sandwich out for a turkey sandwich which was much better. Overall, I like this place and would probably come back to hang out - I just don't particularly care for the food and I don't drink beer, so I definitely am not the target audience! I would DEFINITELY go back for trivia night though! I wish this place was closer to my house because driving an hour to go to a 7p trivia night in the middle of the week is definitely a "probably not" for me. read more

I think.) they were funny and knowledgeable and offered up information from the "other" tour readily and recommendations. The food was better than expected and the space was just incredible and relaxed after a morning of travel. Big open spaces and friendly staff!
