I did have a certain amount of expectations coming here and it met my expectations. I must say going to this place was a great idea! I had a good experience. If you're ever in Dublin, visit and have a taste of Guinness. I learned a lot and spent more than two hours at this place. There's a lot to see and do here. We bought our tickets online in advance and were glad we did! Even in the somewhat off season, it was crowded. The self guided tour was really interesting and walked visitors through the whole brewing process including the sourcing of all the ingredients. The exhibits on advertising were fun; there is even a short video in the cinema area with television ads from over the years. We went up to the Gravity Bar for the view but then went down to the 5th floor to Arthur's for our pints and a nice place to sit. The view is amazing on the 7th floor, but it was standing room only even on a weekday afternoon. If you're not into standing with your drink, I recommend this option. You can also get food at Arthur's which is nice as well! Yes, Guinness here is definitely different and better than what we get in the US even if they have it on draught. This was a great self guided tour of the Guinness brewery. There were several different floors that illustrated the history and making of the well known beer. There's even a hosted tasting of how to properly enjoy your Guinness. In the mid level, there's a restaurant and a grab and go store if you find yourself hungry. At the top, you can receive 1 free glass of guiness and for a little more extra money, you can get your face printed on the froth of your beer. It's a fun novelty. Also. We booked the the self guided experience, which includes a Guinness beer. There are seven floors to explore. We went from floor to floor using the escalators. There are only escalators going up though. In order to go down, you either had to take the stairs or wait a long time for one of the two elevators. While we were there we also ate at 1837 Bar & Brasserie on the 5th floor. The 7th floor is where the Gravity Bar is and where you get your pint of Guinness. The bar has great views of Dublin, but it may be hard to find a seat. I'm not a beer person, but these are one of those things that you just go and do while in Dublin. read more

You just simply can't do that. That would be like going to London and not stopping by Big Ben or coming to Chicago and not having a Chicago style dog or slice of deep dish. And my love affair with Guinness stout started while I was a teenager and our bar, at the time, was the Chicago lakefront. A friend brought a six pack of Guinness stout and we had it at room temperature and it felt more like having a meal - it was that thick and good. Fast forward to adulthood and I was able to visit this monument/brewery which is full of so many things to read and admire and ponder. It's just a wonderful experience, not to mention the delight of having a beer or two as you stare out and soak in Dublin. The Guinness storehouse has plenty to observe and learn about the history of the "black stuff." The view at the top floor was very cool. You can get your picture stamped onto the foam of your beer. I was surprised at how detailed it came out! Lots of photo ops and quirky fun stuff. If you don't like Guinness, they have a couple alternatives as well, like Carlsberg. This may be one of the coolest attractions in Dublin. Even if you are not a beer drinker or don't appreciate the smooth taste of a fresh cold Guinness you have to check out this storefront, attraction, and 360 degree view of Dublin. I'm a sucker for a great view and the Gravity Bar at the top of the storehouse is the best way to see Dublin. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand because it was a very busy place. Although there were lines forming in the front of the building, the wonderful layout and the accommodating staff keep the flow of people moving gracefully. This is a self guided walking tour through the history of Guinness. They also have audio guides available, and QR code information. You learn how Guinness is made, how the company started, the masterful marketing, and how it has evolved throughout the years. There is so much interactive info where you truly experience the smell, taste, sound, and feel of a Guinness in the making. Now I understand why this is the #1 Tourist Attraction in all of Ireland. (#2 are The Cliffs of Moher which we also loved). Even if you don't like beer, this is a very interesting history of the frothy brew famous round the world -- and a history of early Irish factories. Place is HUGE with 7 floors to explore. Lots of interactive stuff, and TWO beer tasting areas with the best being on the top floor with AMAZING views of the entire city. I never much cared for the taste of Guinness here in the states -- but getting a proper pour of FRESH beer made all the difference. Allow a few hours as there is lots to see and you can relax at the top floor enjoying your free pint. When we started our plans for a holiday in Ireland, our first planned place to visit was The Guinness Storehouse and it did not disappoint. The tour was great and buying the tickets and reservations online was very easy. We enjoyed the self guided tour with the audio feedback all the way up to the Gravity Bar and our sample pints. The tasting room experience was fun with the mini pint [you'll have to experience that yourself]. I would recommend that if you want to have dinner at the Guinness, especially 1837 Bar and Brasserie to have someone go there and put in your reservation when you pass it on the 4th or 5th floor. Then go to the Gravity Bar on the top observation deck, have your pint and then go back down for dinner. Prices aren't bad for being at the Guinness headquarters and the food at Arthur's Bar [across the room from 1837] was not bad. Arthur's is a seat yourself pub while 1837 has a reservation system. First time in Dublin! Read some reviews about the Guinness storehouse and everyone said to skip it! But honestly I think it was very much worth your money! It was a self guided tour, doesn't really mention that but it's nice to go at your own pace. We did the stoutie and a free taste test. The taste test was really cool because you got to go into this whole room which was filled with the aromas for the the beers. It was delicious and we got a little history of Guinness. The stoutie was great as well we got to take a picture and after 30 seconds later we were drinking our faces!!! Super cool concept. Very much enjoyed it. When we went to the top it was very pretty and you can get a few different beer as well as NA beer too! Amazing opportunity to learn the history of Guinea's. It's a self guided tour that takes you through its history, origins, culture, brewing process, and much more. At the very end you get an amazing view of Dublin and the hills around. My family and I went to tour the Guiness Storehouse. We were able to book our tickets online and were assigned a time to show up. We arrived a little early but got in right away. There are several choices and we opted for the tour that ends at the Gravity Bar which is on the top floor with a 360 degree view of Dublin. There are a number of displays with information about the history of Guiness as well as how the beer is made. One floor has hops growing which I found interesting as I had no idea what hops were. One floor has information about the coopers-the people that built the kegs and the skills required. I especially enjoyed the floor with the advertising history which information about the characters chosen and examples of past advertisements. There was also information about the ships that carried the kegs of beer. The last and top floor was the Gravity Bar where you are given a glass of Guiness and have a great 360 degree of the city of Dublin. There is a gift shop on the first floor with many kinds of memorabilia available. We really enjoyed the tour and were glad to have done it. read more

I was not expecting such an awesome tour! When we arrived for our tour the line was super long but the que moved very quickly and we were all the way into the main part of the building in less than 15 minutes. The actual tour is amazing. The tour is self-guided and you learn about everything from how to brew beer, to the history of Guinness, to how they transformed marketing and advertising over the years as you wind your way up several floors. The rooms throughout the tour were spacious and I never felt cramped or crowded until I got to the bar at the very top. The whole tour plus getting a beer took about 90 minutes but I could easily have spent more time there. Albeit incredibly crowded, the view from the bar at the top of the building is incredible and worth being squished among a hundred other people. read more

I visited the storehouse on my last trip to Dublin. The tickets are fairly priced and I opted to purchase the option to have a selfie placed on top of my drink, which must be done beforehand and is an additional €5 (but it gets you an extra drink ticket, your regular ticket includes one drink, the €5 is separate and is a completely other pint). I arrived about 20 minutes early to the storehouse and thought I would need to wait but the check in time is more of a suggestion and there were no formal tours that I could see, it was more of a "go at your own pace", which is fine because every room tells you all of the information you need to know. Now, I found out pretty quickly that Guinness wasn't for me. I don't normally like beer anyway so this wasn't a surprise but still, I was a little sad and disappointed in my own tastebuds, but when in Dublin... But, the Storehouse is lovely. They have many many many floors of information and they even have a taste testing room where they teach you how to properly taste Guinness (swirl it, let it sit in your mouth for a moment before swallowing and then breath in through your mouth after). Even though I didn't like Guinness, the view afterward from the Skybar is amazing. Best view in Dublin(even if it is a little crowded). As for the selfie pint, I thought it was a cute idea but as I was by myself, the novelty didn't seem as worth it afterward, so I'd recommend doing this mainly with a group. read more

This self-guided tour is worth a visit - if only for the opportunity to get your face printed on the foam of a pint of Guiness. With your entry ticket, you get a face printed pint & then a second (non face printed) one too. The Gravity Bar is at the very tippy top level. The store also offers a selection of clothing, chocolate, & other goods that are better priced than elsewhere. The Guiness pints that we drank here was much more delicious than any I have tried in the US. I'm not a drinker usually, but I easily could have finished a pint here on my own. By far the best part of our trip to Dublin was the Guinness brewery. I did not expect to spend 4 hours in this amazing place. The atmosphere was so relaxing and full of history. The rooftop had a view of the city and history of Dublin. The food was amazing as well. We had sausage dogs and oh my god can you say mouth watering. I visited the factory in 2015 and again on a recent trip in August 2023. They made a lot of changes - some of which are a big confusing to navigate the path w/ the stroller and elevators but overall, it was really fun! Super interactive. We brought our 6 month old baby - the smells, lights and sounds were a delight to him. We enjoyed the guided tasting room and the pint selfies the most! Eh, it's OK I guess. It's obviously very touristy, but something you have to check off on your list of places to see in Ireland. The place is quite large (six stories tall), and you can easily spend a good part of the day here. It took us about 3 hours to get through the whole thing, It's €18.50 per adult to get in (if you purchase them online), and it's a self guided tour. There's a spot in the middle of the ground floor that has the original lease from 1759. This is where you start your orientation tour. A guide comes out every 5 minutes or so, and greets everyone, and then explains how to start and where to go. After that, you are on your own. You don't get to see the actual brewery, but you get to see a lot of history about Guinness, the brewing process, and an entire floor dedicated to the history of Guinness advertising. This floor was quite interesting. There's an open air cafeteria on one floor where you can have lunch and a pint or two, and a bar & brasserie on another floor for more of a sit down dining experience. Included with the price of admission is a ticket for a free pint of Guinness. You can redeem it at the Gravity bar, or at the Guinness Academy, where they teach you how to pour a perfect pint of Guinness - yes, there's actually an art to it. If you want to check out the Gravity Bar with a 360 degree view of Dublin from six stories in the air, go up there early and do it first. When we got to the top, it was wall to wall people and you can't get views of the outside, let alone get a draft. It was CRAZY packed and I could only handle a few minutes of that business. Once you return to the ground floor, there is a HUUUUGGGE gift shop with any Guinness paraphernalia you could imagine for sale. ***Buy the Dublin City Pass to get free admission. read more

I absolutely HAD to visit the Guinness Storehouse (Brewery) when in Ireland. It's what Ireland is known for in the rest of the world, besides great whiskey. It's billed as Dublin's number 1 tourist attraction. The price was 25 euros = $27.44. Not too bad for everything that's included on this tour. Each of the 7 floors on this tour has something new to reveal about Guinness. The gift shop has everything you could ever dream of buying related to Guinness. I learned how Guinness is made using the simplest ingredients: roasted barley (at 449 degrees Fahrenheit), hops, water, and yeast. They used to deliver Guinness in wooden barrels they made on-site (at the Guinness cooperage) and send them out on ships. Although it appears black, Guinness is actually ruby red when you hold it up to the light. I really enjoyed the advertising floor. They had all the sketches and drawings created by John Gilroy from 1930 until 1965. These advertisements were known worldwide. They even had some statues of his art and the iconic Guinness harp, which is displayed on every can and bottle of Guinness. We entered a tasting room on 5th floor and sampled some Guinness from a pint shaped, shot sized glass. The spokeswoman showed us how to smell it and then drink it quickly to avoid the bitter head that negatively changes the flavor profile. She encouraged us NOT to keep these miniature shot pints. On the sixth floor, they show you how to pour your own pint from live taps. It is a two part process to get it right and you have to let it rest a bit after the first pour. No one discouraged us, so we went in for a second pour. This was the freshest possible Guinness I will EVER have and I savored every last drop. Finally, the tour culminated on the seventh floor at the gravity bar. There was a 360 degree view of Dublin and it was breathtaking. We drank a third pint up here and then rushed out for a tour of the nearby prison, Kilmainham Gao, where many Irish Revolutionaries were executed. read more

Their website glitched while I was trying to add one more ticket to my already purchased tour, it was telling me I didn't have the already purchased ticket so I ended up buying two so we could do the tour. But of course I know I was charged for the first ticket I bought that the website was saying didn't exist. I asked them how we could rectify the situation considering their website was the cause of my extra purchase. This place was highly recommended, and I would have liked it more if it wasn't so crowded. We had a 3:30 reservation on December 31st. There was still a long line to wait in. The part that we were looking forward to the most was the view in the round roof-top bar where you get your complementary Guinness beverage. The bar was so packed that you could barely look out the windows because they were covered with people. There were no seats available, plus we had to wait about 20 minutes to get our drink because they only had a few bartenders working. So we grabbed our beers and went to a different floor to enjoy them in peace. Why did i give it 3 stars? I really enjoyed the beer, and I don't really like beer. When I came back to the states, I ordered a Guinness, but it wasn't as good over here. Plus, I'm assuming this would have been a better experience if it wasn't so crowded. Three words: Once is enough. Sure it has great history but it's overly priced and didn't move me at all. The best thing this place had to offer was the free pint with views from the roof top bar (which is what you pay the $25 for). Honestly, I'm not a beer drinker but I did the mini glass taster beer with seriously 50 people in a room gave me anxiety because my nose started to bleed right before the big cheers, very convenient. As many might think it's kind of a pilgrimage, it's very noisy and jam-packed. This tour was a tad disappointing, probably will never come back here again if I had to. It just didn't wow me. This place is HUGE and very, very, very busy. When we first decided to take a quick excursion to Dublin, I discovered that this is the #1 most popular attraction in Dublin. Dublin is the birthplace of Guinness and they are quite proud of that! (+) The actual tour came with a free audio tour guide and was stretched out over the course of 6 floors! A LOT to see and do here! (+) Did I mention live traditional Irish song and dance?! It was awesome to take it all in while enjoying my Guinness! (+) You had the choice of either a complimentary pint of Guinness on the 7th (and top) floor with some spectacular views of Dublin or you could get a flight of 3 beers out of a choice of 4 different drinks. One of the options is their non alcoholic beverages. I wonder how popular that one is compared to the other 3 :P Oh, and while enjoying our flight there was a loud and lively traditional Irish dance performance as well! This was all a lot of fun! I'm glad I did too. 3 floors, each one took you through the process of making the beer but what's cooler is on the last couple of floors you not only get a tasting, but you have a food court with selections that pair perfectly with the beer AND, you learn how to pour the "perfect pint" where you can then take it to the top floor to enjoy it while you have a 360 degree view of the city.
