My friend and I met up for lunch at Guiradelco and honestly, this store reminded me of California. I've been craving Filipino food for years now and I'm glad my friend told me about this place. You order your food and you can either take it home with you or just sit down in the back and enjoy it. We were able to pay after we finished our meal. I missed chicken adobo so I ordered that! A good friend of mine told me about this hole in a wall spot in Long Island. This place is located in a parking lot behind a Tex-Mex place. At the entrance of place, there is a tiny supermarket and a buffet style where you can order freshly made meals. There are no combo meals except for breakfast on the weekends. We ordered the breakfast combo of longsilog, two fried eggs, and fried rice for $10. I also ordered a BBQ pork skewer for $3.50. The skewer was very good and worth the $3.50. The breakfast combo could be better if they had the option of garlic rice or fried rice. The longanisa was pretty good. I also ordered a pakbet to go but I was impressed. I also ordered ube turon, and that was good and not messy. I'd definitely return to check out more items. So glad I found this Filipino place in westbury. So close to home and do not need to drive to East meadow. You walk in and you order and then you can take it to go or there is a back area where you can eat and a small area in the front for snacks. All the food is already made so it's so quick to grab something on the go! My usual dishes here: Beef menudo, kare kare, pork sinigang, halo halo. I wish they had grilled pork but they don't. Before COVID-19: This place brings so much memories. My family and I have been going here for decades after mass in Queens and take a few minutes drive into Westbury, Long Island for lunch. It's a favorite of my parents, especially to eat with relatives or friends who want comfort food and this is it. This is definitely a no-frills, small mom-and-pop. It feels like a homey Filipino restaurant when coming here... The interior is dated and decorated with paintings of the Philippines. Most of the patrons eating here are Filipinos from around or living in the city. It's part grocery store and part restaurant. There are several table seating for parties to dine-in. Guiradelco is also a turo turo restaurant: a point what you want, cafeteria style place. They also have a menu up top but the food in front changes everytime we come. The staples are always there though and one that we always order is the kaldereta! Their goat kaldereta is my favorite. The meat is super tender and the dish is super saucey. I love taking the sauce and adding it onto my rice like a curry because it's just that good! Of course, in breakfast or brunch time, we get some silogs, my favorite being tocino. Overall, I also grew up on their food. I can't think of a bad experience. I'm always left full and satisfied. It gets really sunny inside as well. The location is a bit strange where you have to drive behind a building into a parking lot to see the strip of businesses. The owner is super nice and loves talking to her regulars. Also note they do affordable catering here! We usually order ahead of time for New Years Eve party and is always a hit. Bathroom available. Accepts cash and card. First off I am Filipino and wished this review was better. We came here a couple of times. First time we came our experience was ok. But pleasant. Food was decent and close to home. Don't know of any other Filipino restaurants around this place. That all changed when we brought our son. He was around 2 years old. He was curious and walking around and checking things out. I was walking around showing around and my wife was picking out our food. The servers behind the counter looked very annoyed and almost didn't want to serve us because of my son. At first we thought they were just having a bad day, but they treated the other customers differently. Then they told us to pick a table and wait our food. At that point the waiter came to serve us the food we picked out at the counter. He also was annoyed. We felt very uncomfortable. The whole time we talked about while we ate was that this will be our last time coming here. So unfortunate because my wife loves filipino food. You enter and there are Filipino baked goods and canned items from the Philippines. Further in, to the left, is a selection of prepared dishes of the Philippines. Employees are very courteous. The ginataang, a dish with squash, shrimp, peppers, green beans, and ginger in coconut milk, is rich and creamy, with a bit of a kick from the peppercorn. I like it with some brown rice (not purchased from Guiradelco - don't believe they sell it). We are on our way to visit our friends in Long Island which we miss a lot since this pandemic erupted and thought of bringing over some Filipino food to share with them. The food here has the authentic taste and highly recommend. The portion of the chicken bbq was bigger than the usual as compared to other similar Filipino stores. IMHO, the chicken adobo recipw has a different twist to it and must be from a specific region back home. I just prefer the Tagalog adobo. Taking my kiddies here after visiting my Dad at Holy Rood nearby, it brought me back to going here after mass with my parents. I told my kids stories of what I'd eat: a half kaldereta, a half kare kare, and 3 bowls of rice. My son has memories of coming here when he was a toddler, and the chicken tinola brought him back to those days. Filipino food is like a warm embrace from a good friend. 1st review for 2016, now there are not too many filipino restaurants in the Garden City, Westbury and Uniondale area, Guiradelco came up on the radar as I placed a search for Filipino food. The place is located not too far from the LIRR "Post Ave" station. As you travel north on Post Ave from Old Country road the restaurant can be difficult to find since it is off Post Ave and located in a small secluded street with parking right in front of the restaurant. The decor is dated and hosts a small grocery store with mainly canned and dry goods for sale, but I was not here to shop at the grocery store. When you walk in there is already prepared food sitting in heated trays with varieties of your favorite filipino classics like, kare-kare and beef Karedata, and other dishes I can't even begin to pronounce. The kitchen will also prepare items like Shanghai Lumpiang, Lechon Kawali and Crispy Pata to order. We decided on the kare-kare, beef Karedata and ordered the Lechon Kawali. After ordering we seated ourselves in the throwback 70's tables and seats which was cool since style points don't count here, only the food and service matters to me. The person working the front also doubles as our server. Our Kare-Kare and beef Karedata dish arrived on our table right away since it was on the prepared food tray. The Kare-Kare tasted bland as bland can be, even the shrimp paste (Bagoong) wasn't that good and the oxtail did not have much meat. The beef Karedata was tough and chewy. We had to wait almost 20 minutes for the Lechon Kawali to come to our table and we were disappointed. The pork was not crispy or tasty, we surmised that the oil probably did not get to temperature. I did not like the dipping sauce for the Lechon, according to my Filipino bud it should be liver based, but he said it was not even close to what it should taste like. The people were friendly but that alone does not make or will a good meal. Parking was a plus which was the only notable highlight that day. read more

Decided to finally check this place out after hearing some positive reviews from friends and reading all the positive reviews online. Definitely a little tricky to find and the reviews were right that the outside doesn't offer much, but parking right in front is nice. There's a little grocery area where you can find many Filipino snacks and canned goods. On the other side there's prepared food. There wasn't that much of an assortment when we arrived (mid afternoon), but we decided to order some halo halo. Not the best I had, but definitely satisfied the craving. All in all an ok spot, but not too sure why or how it got the reviews it did. Seeing as how it was only slightly closer than driving to Queens to some of our usual spots, we will keep it on the back up list, but likely aren't itching to come back soon. read more

Never been to this place for a long time until today if not for an emergency need to bring a dish in the office. The dining place looks old to me ( I was here just to pick up my order btw) but their food based on the one I have ordered is still one of the best in town ( Long Island). The Lumpiang Shanghai is a hit in the office. Can't believe that inside these petite spring rolls are just a mix combo of pork and celery. I am thinking there were tidbits of onions and carrots that go with it. The reviews of my co- workers who have tried it for the first time are surprisingly good in all aspects. The pricing is affordable and economical to its serving portion. Actually their price was lesser to what my caterer charge. I may continue to use their service in the future catering needs. The place has a grocery store inside. Lots of childhood snacks that I am surely missing are available for purchase. Too bad I am in a hurry to meet our luncheon party time. What I like most was how they entertained my order on a last minute placement. I was grateful to Dan who picked up the call at 7 am and have my order ready on time. The location is hard to find. The entrance takes you into a tiny "marketplace" that has lots of Filipino snacks. M quickly decided we were going to peruse after lunch. You walk to the left and there are hot foods already made. The menu is pretty standard and it seems like the food that's behind the glass plate rotates. The prices were more than fair with the service and amount of food we got! Everything was absolutely delicious and the ladies behind the counter were a joy! There is a small parking lot which is a godsend in NY but it can be easy to miss the entrance. Food is precooked and instead of keeping it hot , you get the food that s barely warm - barely warm rice , barely warm pre cooked eggs that just sit there in a pile . the grill that they use is tiny and doesn't grill the meat too well - the barbecued pieces are not barbecued all the way and are barely warm . Barbecued meat covered in some Ketchupy flavored bland sauce . Kidney stew is swimming in bland vegetables including mushrooms from a can . I saw the guy who works in the kitchen bring in Ronzoni pasta and some aweful cheap supermarket pasta sauce to use in cooking 'authentic ' Philippino food The only redeeming point to all this is Dessert that's sold right by the cashier - namely Carioca and Ube Turon. Good Filipino food, unhygienic food handling I have been to this restaurant for so many times maybe because there's no other better Pinoy restaurants in the area. Since the COVID19 pandemic happened, their workers started using gloves. However, this server has practically not changed her gloves for the 45 minutes while I was waiting for my order. And she was was using it for everything else that she was doing. One of them also does cashiering because the owner/regular cashier was having lunch.
