I have been to this location several times on a personal visit and have absolutely nothing but positive things to share. I'm greeted every time. Employees ask if they can help me find anything. They're helpful and informative. I also work with a local little league. This business has been nothing short of generous with sponsorship and donations. They were always extremely professional with me and my fellow board members. Roberto and Cristoph went above and beyond! They deserve a 10/10 in customer service. i posted a review about GC back in Mar 2023... I will freely admit that at the time, until i got a manager involved customer service was not stellar... that being said, i recently purchased a Fender Telecaster Ultra II. The experience of purchasing (traded some guitar + cash) was excellent. The only issue I had was with the quality of the instrument. To Fender: Do better! After i couldn't deal with the persistent string buzz and the guitar constantly out of tune... I went back 5 days later with the intent of returning and/or exchanging. That experience was also awesome. Ethan helped me out and was very understanding. His first response was to offer to ship me a new in 2 days... I asked about in stock items and he indicated he had another one in the store, still in the factory carton. So i asked to check that one out... it was worse than the one i bought. I asked if i could have the store tech look at my purchased instrument. He introduced me... can't remember his name. He was rather dismissive regarding my issue but made some simple adjustments while i was there.. I took it home and it pretty much the same... I'm now at a point where i'm ready to chuck it all, still mulling it over but i wanted to give a shout out to CG for its much improved customer service.... Shout out to Ethan! read more

Based on the reviews I was expecting to have a miserable time, but honestly I had a great experience. They have a wide selection of beautiful guitars and all the accessories you might want. The highlight was talking to Josh, someone you could tell was there just because of the love of guitars. He was awesome, gave me 1 on 1 help for like 30 mins, answered all of my many questions, and gave me all the insight I need to get started in the guitar world. If I ever go back for lessons I'm requesting him specifically. I'm still shopping around for my perfect guitar but I'd be glad to give my business to guitar center. read more

I love it here. I went to the this place once a week before the pandemic to practice ukulele. These lessons were fun! I really enjoyed the layout of this store. The ukuleles and other instruments displayed here were very cool to look at. I wouldn't mind coming back and purchasing an instrument! Guitar Center offers great lessons and products. They have plenty of parking and this place is great to check out because the staff are wonderful and helpful. read more

Just go to the Roseville location, this place is trash. Every single guitar was gross and covered in crust, like someone ate oatmeal with their hands then decided to touch everything. I also noticed most of their guitars had rusty frets, even their new Gibson guitars, so they probably never clean their products. I wouldn't trust a product purchased from here unless it was sealed in an air-tight box. read more

To be honest I feel like "yelping" is kind of lame but this is the second time that I have had an uncomfortable experience with Crystal and it has to be addressed. I've been coming to this Guitar Center location ever since I was a teenager, I'm in my early 30's now and each time I go in I dread that Crystal may be on her shift. She makes me feel like shit to be quite honest. My first experience with Crystal was when I needed to find the proper cables to run my laptop into my fr-12. Not only did Crystal give me the wrong cables, but when I came back, she was visibly annoyed that I came back in to under mind what she said. I trusted her and left. I came back a third time to swap out her mistake with the right cables and she was obviously upset. I drove 6 miles 3 times just to find the right cables and all I got was a bad attitude and wasted gas. That experience kept me away from the Arden location for a good 6 months. I thought maybe she just hates her job, I'll wait for her to quit. Nope. I went back a few days ago for some business and it was the same bad attitude, as if I was giving her a hard time by simply existing in her presence... while she was on the clock. I don't think I'll ever be returning. Which is a bummer because I have so many memories in this store. I bought my first Les Paul from here, took my ex girlfriend on dates to explore this store before the reconstruction and so much more. Welp I guess that's over. read more

It is nice to have a store where equipment is still displayed and in stock vs today's online shopping environment. Went in to cash out a gift card that had a balance of less than $10. Waited in line for over 10 minutes as "Crystal" made sure to tell us where to line up while also letting us know that he couldn't help us at the moment. When it was my turn and "Crystal" had finally started helping customers, he said "hey folks, what did you need?" To me. Mind you, I was by myself. When I told him why I was there he just looked annoyed - I get it, not a sale - and he just began busily and dismissively typing away at the computer acting so put out by having to help a customer. He eventually asked for my phone number and after doing some more entry into the computer, issued me my cash. I politely said, "Thank you for your help." His response "yep". Today, I inquired about trading in of three Pioneer PLX 1000 turntables and was informed that I could bring them in after 4:00 PM. This review is for the employee Trevor, who helped me with my purchase. I came into the store looking for a bass guitar. After perusing for a few minutes, I was approached by Trevor who set me up with a bass guitar to 'noodle around' with. I did some research beforehand but am in no way an expert, so naturally I had a few questions. Trevor was super helpful in answering all of them. I told him that while I was open minded, I was looking specifically for the Stingray Ray Sub 4, as I had heard rave reviews and he went to the back and found exactly what I was looking for. Additionally, I told him I wanted bare essentials as far as an amp and cables to get me started. He wasn't pushy, didn't try to up-sell me on anything, and got me exactly what I needed and within budget. I was out the door within 30 minutes, and within another, I was home and jamming (albeit atrociously) on my new bass guitar. Stand up guy, great service, not sure why there are low ratings but per my experience this GC get 5 stars (give this dude a raise), and I will likely return for future purchases. To all the folks that had a poor experience, all it takes is grabbing the attention of one of the staff. Not everyone likes an overly pushy sales staff. I personally appreciated that I was mostly left to my devices until I had a question. This is the place where I buy replacement strings for my classical guitar. And this is normally something I do every 6 months (to a year)...which is much like when I play something on my guitar! Or sometimes, I rely on the 3 D's (decay, duration and dullness) regarding guitar strings. There is a lot of strings to choose from. And since I'm no virtuoso on a classical guitar, I go for low or normal tension types, tie ends. And since I love my guitar (which I had since 1985), I do not skimp on price. D'Addario EJ45's when I just had payday. Or even Augustines on any other day... It's hard to find staff to get advice from inside the store. But when you do find one, it's also a hit and miss with how much knowledgeable they are with the query you may have. Anyway, there's always Google... Browsing the store is always a lot of fun...and heartache. A lot of fun to try out all the classical guitars they have in store...a few bars here and there. And a heartache when you find a nice sounding guitar and get to look at the price tag. But being in the store always feels like Disneyland for the music playing or appreciating kind! The store was not overly crowded when I went in the mid day. The staff was helpful. I was looking for some wireless mics for my church and they helped me find the right equipment for the needs. When I realized I left my wallet at home the staff was more than willing to hold my purchase until I could return the next day. The store has a good selection of equipment for production of quality sound both audio and music equipment. I saw many people coming for lessons on various instruments but mostly guitars and electric bass. read more

I bought a new Traveler EG-1 at the Hollywood store on Saturday and they were having a brand new one sent down from this, the Sacramento store. Being a bit impatient, or should I say, anxious, I called to check the status of my purchase. I've often seen Yelp reviews where it is said, "Zero stars should be an option." That sentiment absolutely applies to Sacramento's Guitar Center. The store was not well regarded when it opened years ago, and it is far worse now. Every department is a mess. Products and packaging debris are strewn about with seemingly no organization, and the staff is ignorant, discourteous and unprofessional. Too bad. I was reluctant to walk in, but now I know I will never return. And I will actually enjoy seeing this store close permanently, as it undoubtedly will in light of the numerous online options for buying musical instruments (not to mention the lack of customers). I just want to say - "I was planning to give a 1 star review" for my tonight curbside pick up experience, however, what it changed my mind to put a five stars instead, is only because the store security good person is very responsible to care the FedEx carrier for helping him to open and hold the front door, the security worth a raise, because he was super very friendly for every customers come in and come out the store, while I was awaiting my curbside pickup order for nearest half hour!!! The curbside pick up experience is not meeting the standard, and not even curbside anything; if the system screw up and the on-chat associate screw up, why would you have the curbside pick up option available for all customers; No one's time is supposed to be wasted like that. I try and try to be a customer of this local Guitar Center, but I don't have time to wait for someone to unlock the guitars, or to wait in a long line to pay. Who does the schedule in this location? Do you just not have enough help? It is ridiculous how there is always someone in repairs, but never someone on the floor to unlock the guitars. (No, the luthier will not get you a guitar.) There is always only one cashier. Customer service is non-existent at this location. It is uncanny how consistently bad the service is. Going back to the start of these attempts, I walked a $4000 Music Man up to the counter. Both employees disappeared to look for the case for a full 45 minutes! I finally left with no guitar. The manager was working the counter and his only reaction after reading the situation was to "hold on." To management asking that I reach out, for what? Do some research and you'll see the problem. Start with yesterday, 2/2/24. Check yesterday's video. I was the guy at about 12:20 in the Foreigner shirt who didn't buy the Archon amplifier because there was already 9 people in line with one cashier. Who was the lady working the front counter for 8+ hours in the hoodie? Most of the time by herself with 10 plus people in line? No other employees aside from the luthier were on the floor. I already told you he won't help. Who was supposed to unlock the guitars. I sent my daughter in to buy the amp about 6:00 and the lines were still unmanageable! I wanted to rent a guitar when I was visiting, and called ahead before I even traveled. One of my questions was whether the store would be open on the day I was leaving, which was a holiday (Labor Day, I think). They assured me it would be open. So I got to the store, and they had a guitar ready for me, but I asked again if they would be open. The guy said yeah, but I still wasn't convinced. Finally the guy decided to talk to the manager just to shut me up. Turned out the store WASN'T going to be open. So if I had believed him, I would have gotten this guitar, planning to drop it off on the way to the airport. I would have been stuck with their guitar and no way to get it back to them and needing to catch my flight. What was I supposed to do with it then? The people I was visiting lived too far away for me to drop it off the day before and then have to drive back to them. They need to make sure the staff are up to speed on everything. read more

I'm really happy that my favorite music place is still open after all these years. As all the big box stores are fading away Guitar center is still open and available so you can see and hear first hand before you buy. There's always a good selection and the people are very helpful and chill. Keep in mind if you have 20 questions it'll take a while for the staff to make their way to other customers. I would recommend doing your research ahead of time, calling in to see if the item is there at the store before you head down. Otherwise browse the current inventory and be happy or keep a stiff upper lip. I'd like to give a shout out to Brandon, came in clutch on a Black Iconic 5150. Couldn't be happier.
