Rude, unhelpful and DANGEROUS! We had them install a gas range through AHS insurance. Months later we discovered a gas leak (BGE came out to isolate it) in the connection to the gas line. I called them to report this. They hung up on me twice and refused to come out. Don't let them near your house--this is life-threatening! This is the worst company that I've ever had the misfortune of working with. Our dryer has been broken 3 months and still has not been replaced. The company has refused to come and fix it without anyone home, and they refuse to schedule us at a time where we will be home. When we finally worked out a time for them to come, the wrong part had been ordered. The wrong part has been ordered two times. We're STILL waiting for the correct part to be ordered. Still no resolution!!!! Horrible experience! Timeline of events... On May 4th I completed a Service request through American Home Shield. On May 5th I called the servicing office and left a message for a callback. No one called me back until the next day. On May 6th I received a callback and scheduled a technician for May 7th. On May 7th A technician was dispatched to my home, assessed the situation and stated that they would order the parts to fix both our ice maker and washing machine. My brother took a whole day off of work for just 15-20 minutes with of "work". On May 13th I received a call that our parts had arrived and they will dispatch a technician the following day. On May 14th around 12:30-1 the technician calls me and lets me know he is on his way only to call me back minutes later stating he doesn't have the parts. He then went back to your office and picked up what he thought were the correct parts and I left work early to meet him at my home. Upon arriving, he discovers that the prior technician has ordered the wrong part for my ice maker and therefore cannot complete the work. He then proceeds to the washing machine and cannot complete that work either due to the fact he does not have the correct tools. May 15th I called the local office to try to get some type of date/time of resolution only to be given the "I don't know I'll have to ask my boss" answer. May 16th I call AHS they can do nothing because they can't even get ahold of their own contractors. Promised my money back and call back ... neither one of which I have received yet. May 17th the service technician said the earliest they can come is Monday 5/20 May 20th technician shows up at noon. Fixes my ice maker and supposedly fixes my washer and leaves. 5 min after leaving washer is doing the same thing they were called for in the first place. May 22nd called gulf appliance several times. AHS has no record of a recall. Spoke with Dave he basically said it's not his problem and is blaming his office. Still no washer and more parts ordered hopefully. When is this nightmare going to end??? It would be one thing if there were only a few missteps in this process however, there were several from start to finish and this has affected my time away from work, time/money spent having to wash my clothes elsewhere (laundry mat). read more

Had to call American Home Shield on a claim for two appliances. Was somewhat reluctant when I saw all the negative reviews concerning Gulf Appliance Repair. But my reluctance was quickly alleviated by the outstanding service I received. The arrived on time and had both the fridge and dryer completed in under and hour. The technician took his time and explained everything he did, and how to prevent the issues from happening in the future.Great job on my dryer and fridge!!! A part for my washer was ordered through Gulf Appliance at the end of Feb and it took over 2 months to finally come with a wrong part. Technician came and spend hours to figure out how to install. then he went back stating he will come back with correct part. Never came back and no call back from Gulf appliance. then one day they sent information to AHS that the order is completed and AHS charged me $100 for deductible. Gulf Appliance repair was chosen by our Home Warranty provider to fix an issue with our ovens. It took well over a month for the part to be delivered and for the repair work to be completed. Three years later we're now having the same issue with the oven. So we reached out directly to Gulf Appliance and quite honestly they have been relatively non-responsive. It took weeks and several follow ups just to get a response to our initial email. After that we never heard back regarding the next step towards getting our problem addressed. We've wasted too much time waiting on them. We're moving on. read more

DO NOT USE THIS APPLIANCE REPAIR COMPANY! Three months and my dryer is still not fixed. Electrolux outsourced the repair to Gulf Appliance Repair and it has been a nightmare since the beginning. The technician came, spent maybe five minutes, was extremely rude, told me the dryer needed just about every part replaced - including the heat reduction motor(?)! They supposedly could not get the one part - it was always on "back order". This lasted over two months. I called repeatedly and got the same runaround/excuse every time. Finally, I called Electrolux and they sent the part to me - this took one week. Once the part came the repair appointment was scheduled for the following week, with a 4 hour window of 8am-noon. There was no call the day before to confirm the appointment. This made me nervous considering all I had been through to this point. The day of the appointment I called at 9am and per usual, got voicemail. I left a voicemail. After awhile I called back. The man who answered told me, very rudely, that "computers were down, he can't see the schedule for the day". I asked if the technician would call before he showed up. The man said yes, 15 minutes prior to arriving the technician would call. 11:50am and still no call. I call and surprise, surprise - voicemail! To this day Gulf has made no attempt to contact me. No explanation for why they didn't show up for the repair appointment after THREE MONTHS. Terrible customer service. Just terrible all around! I called Electrolux and told them NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. They have multiple complaints unanswered on BBB - and are about to get another!! read more

In retrospect, there was a reason why they had same day appointments. American Home Shield (AHS) sent them to my house to fix a refrigerator. The incompetent technician showed up and tried to convince me that nothing was wrong even though my refrigerator was completely defrosted. Anyway, he did something so that he can collect the service fee. A few hours later, the issue was worst so I contacted AHS again... my request was expedited and it has been 5 days with no resolution or diagnosis. I tried requested a transfer to another company and they went back to AHS and convince some representative to cancel the transfer. Not only are these people incompetent, they are rude and dishonest. They refuse to speak to me and have now scheduled two appointments without my knowledge. There a numerous discrepancies in the reports and feedback they are giving AHS and the representatives at AHS are not holding them accountable. In reading all these reviews, I don't know why AHS is still using this company. They don't seem to understand customer service...I don't even know where to start. Changed part and tried to leave before we could test for the previous problem. Got very upset when we insisted he stay for 10 minutes. Result - same problem occurred. Had to use this compant twice through our home warrenty. The first time we canceled our appt and they still tried to bill us the $60 copay(which we didn't have to pay, thankfully!) Don't ever use this company for your appliance repair! American Home Shield (my insurance company) hired this company to fix my broken fridge. They are nothing but a bunch of rude and incompetent people. Here's why: 1) The technician came over and when he moved my fridge, he scratched up my floor. 2) When they contacted AHS, they gave AHS the wrong serial number for my fridge resulted in huge delay in getting the repair authorized. 3) When I called them (Gulf App), they were very non-appologetic about the situation and it's as if not having a fridge for a week or two is nothing! 4) They don't call me back when they said they would and they don't always answer their office phone. My experience with Gulf Appliance Repair echoes that of other customer who posted their reviews. I really understand their frustrations! I would definitely remove the "one star" rating and give ZERO star, but this 1 is the lowest rating available. This company should take a step back and re-evaluate their business and training. Gulf Appliance Repair (their invoice shows the company name as Gulf Appliance Repair of Maryland) was dispatched to me through America Home Shield home warranty for a work order to fix my refrigerator. The problem was that food was freezing in the refrigerator. The technician assessed the issue; a part had to be ordered; part arrived and the technician replaced the part. He spent about two hours with the installation and left. About an hour later, my refrigerator started making a very loud motor-like noise. The noise came on continuously about every 5 minutes interval, each time lasting about 5 minutes. Then, the refrigerator started showing evidence of condensation inside the unit and no cold air circulating--the refrigerator is now warm! I called Gulf Appliance Repair to tell them about the noise and then thereafter, called again to tell them about the refrigerator not being cold. They refused to send a technician out right away to resolve the issues which stemmed from their work and told me the next available slot would be the following week! The company did not communicate an apology for the issues that resulted from their visit. Needless to say, days later from the time their technician installed the part, I am still with a refrigerator that does NOT work and an extremely loud noise that still continues, which could be heard from the upstairs bedroom (all day and all night). read more

When I called her to complain she hung up on me. I then called the manager to tell about the situation and she basically told me too bad and SHE hung up on me. They were chosen by my home warranty co to do business with. I called them and told them they are to be removed from my account and to never provide service to my home again and they stated they would escalate since it is unacceptable to treat a customer that way. I am also an American Home Shield policy holder and as such you never know what you are going to get. What I got was a company that attentive, reliable and communicative. I have a double oven and neither the top or bottom was working correctly. With some shuffling of parts from my lower oven they fixed it so that my top oven functions perfectly and ordered parts for my lower oven. Every step along the way they have kept in contact with me. A week later he replaces motherboard and says oh sorry it wasn't the motherboard it's the motor. So the company calls yesterday and says the part is in and wants to schedule an appointment so I schedule it for Monday. Less than 24 hours later they call my wife and say they're canceling the appointment because the parts not in. I call them and say when can I expect this dryer to be fixed we are going on 3 weeks without a dryer and the woman says I don't know who told you the parts were in but you guys insisted that we make an appointment even though the parts aren't in. I told the lady you guys called us to schedule the appointment and said the parts were in and why would I call and say I want you to come out when the parts weren't in that makes absolutely no sense and asked her does that make sense to you? These guys came out through American Home Shield and they are impossible to get a hold of as well. Do not use American Home Shield because they use companies like this that are horrible and will stretch out the repair process for weeks. So at the end of the day that hundred-dollar payment you make may seem like a good deal but ultimately it's going to cost you more money and more time to get anything repaired so you might as well just do it yourself. This is my first time using Gulf Appliance Repair sent to me via AHS-- and my last. The serviceman came out and did not have the coil to fix my stove, although I specified the model to AHS as well as the problem. My tenant was told that the coil had to be ordered--I was not called and no return date had been given. I called the company and was given a return date several days later. The serviceman came back with the coil but could not finish the job because he admitted to breaking the range clock. He said he had to order that part. I am contacting AHS for another company to check behind him, see how much damage was done, and fix my stove properly. read more

I am also a member of AHS, in December my dishwasher wasn't draining and called ASH and they sent out Gulf Appliance, I was told I needed a new pump and they needed to order it, they came out a week later and installed the new pump, only that wasn't the problem, the hose that connects from the dishwasher to the sink was clogged and again they had to order the new hose, it took 6 weeks to get the dishwasher working 6 WEEKS!!!! How ridiculous it that. But it gets better, my washing machine will not spin so again AHS and Gulf comes out and I was told I needed a new control panel, two weeks later they come out and it wasn't the panel they now need to take the machine apart and its a 2 man job so they have to schedule another appointment, at this point I'm going to the laundry mat and losing time at work to meet them for the appointment. A week later they come out and they don't need two men for the job because they don't need to take it apart because I now need a whole new drum and it could take 2 weeks to get. I called AHS and at this point Im fed up. Two weeks go by and I was told that I could have them fix it or I could do a buy out which means I take the money of what it cost to fix it or let them fix it. All I want to say, 1- very incompetent, they don't know what they are doing and it took 8 weeks for them to tell me that they cant fix the washer...2- I would never recommend them or use them again. 3-Very rude on the phone as if they are going to the laundry mat once a week and spending $40 for 8 weeks. Now my dryer will not dry and shame on me for calling AHS, cause they are next to hear my wrath, they sent out gulf after I told them I don't ever want them in my house, they fixed the dryer which wasn't drying and I did a load of laundry today and guess what my clothes are still not drying. So advice from a frustrated customer. DONT USE GULF APPLIANCE AND GET RID OR AHS, CAUSE THAT WHAT IM DOING!!! read more
