We needed blinds for our new construction home. I didn't need anything super fancy. Just needed to get some privacy up in here... I requested quotes from a few businesses. Kim was the first one to get back to me. (Someone else got back to me by the time Kim got us a quote & we agreed on pricing!) He came all the way up here to Splendora & gave us a good reasonable quote. It only took about 2 weeks to get our blinds & have them installed. It was super cut & dry & that's the way I like it! I never had the pleasure to meet him but he worked with my husband & I. We love having our privacy & they looks really good!

Firstly, he was able to come on short notice to show me the samples. I agreed with his recommendations for shades and booked him the same day. I requested a second visit to make sure my husband was ok with my selection. After 3 weeks of waiting, our roller shades were ready! I am so relieved to take off the temporary paper blinds and our new home feels so much warmer. We love our shades and they are a fraction of the cost of the "designer" blinds from The Shade Store and The Shade Shop. The shades were installed by Robert and they did a wonderful job! We are so happy we got our window treatments right before the weekend. They are secured nicely and the opacity is just right. Thanks Kim!

I have never shopped for blinds, shades, shutters, etc. before, and was feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options available. I ended up using Yelp to search for highly rated companies that serviced my area. That is how I found Gulf Coast Blinds and Shutters. Kim Van Wieren came out to do my in-home estimate, and he brought a massive amount of samples to look through. After coordinating with my sister who lives overseas, we settled on a colour and amount of transparency. Once the shades were ready, Kim came back out and did the installation. I could not be happier with the quality and the overall look. Switching from the old dated plastic miniblinds to modern shades made the room really come alive. This was the BEST decision I could have made and Kim was so patient and kind throughout the whole process. read more

I'm a little late with my review. We had blinds and static arches installed in my daughter's home back in June 2020. During our initial search for a blind company, we had 2 companies no show on their consultation appointments. Not wanting to waste the day, I searched out new companies on Yelp. Gulf Coast was the only that could shuffle their schedules to make this appointment happen that same day ( we had to leave for Austin that night ). Ken was great! Very honest, and full of options designed to save you time and money. We will use him again and recommend GCB to family and friends. read more

i would not recommend them. Installed shutters and a few were cracked. He said he would order replacements and get them installed. i paid in full and he never replaced the broken shutters. (beware- won't do that again) Chased him down a few times " i am coming to replace them - never happened. i just gave up. read more

I was very impressed with Kim and Gulf Coast Blinds from start to finish. First off, I had a really busy weekday schedule and Kim was willing to meet me at the house on the weekend to measure. No other company I contacted for an estimate was willing to do this! Second, I was stressed and running late back home, Kim patiently waited for me, which was really nice of him. Lastly, after the measurements were taken, my blinds were ready to be installed within a matter of days! Because of Kim and Gulf Coast Blinds, I was able to move into my home comfortably on time! Unfortunately, you need to go through their Rep system to purchase (else there would be no reason for this review 2) The Installer that worked on our blinds was excellent. 3) I only gave this vendor 1 Star so that I could file this review. One Star is way too generous of a rating for what we went through to get these blinds! The review focuses on the customer service and lack of professionalism by the Representatives at Creative Blinds. First off, we were bounced around between Sites because we are not in the Houston area. Second, we knew what we wanted but Creative Blinds (Bay Brook) insisted my wife drive 2 hours out of her way just to talk about the order. Then they sent a Representative to our house to measure. That Rep knew nothing about what she was talking about and was only there to pick up the check. She measured for the blinds and then weeks later we were told the installer would have to come out and measure (which he had never been scheduled to do by Creative Blinds). So, we waited for that to happen. Then we were told our blinds were ordered and given an estimate on delivery date. That date came and went and when we called, I am pretty sure the blinds had never been ordered because we were them told the same time frame all over again. That date came and went and no call from Creative Blinds. We even gave them several additional weeks grace period. Finally, we called and experienced the worst customer service from the Rep from Bay Brook. Basically, she had no capacity to listen, repeatedly talked over our questions and repeatedly stated she would have someone research and call back. That never happened. Repeatedly. Finally, I called and experience the same treatment. I cornered the Rep into giving a time frame for when she would call back or I would contact the BBB. Stating don't just tell us some one is looking into it. She called back, left a VM and stated "she have someone looking into it and they would call back. Never happened. I contacted the BBB and that is what it seems it takes to get an honest answer from this vendor. Long story short. Blinds were months late; the charger was never ordered and took months more for that to arrive. and at every contact with the vendor, we were blown off with dated business practices and age-old ploys. Worse customer Service experience we have even had the misfortune to experience! Under professionalism and customer service for this vendor, go to the lowest box and then pencil in one even lower and you would be starting to get close.

Somehow one of windows was a different shade, the valances weren't what was described, and we didn't like how they looked (personal opinion) but others liked them. They did everything within their power to satisfy us as their customers. They contacted the manufacturer to correct the issues that were pointed out and did it without any animosity. Rich owned the misinformation given to me and that's powerful. This could have been a 2 star review, just because of all of the things that "went wrong". I understand not every transaction will go smoothly, which happened to be mine, but the way they handled everything was Chik-fil-a top tier, lol. I didn't want to mention the series of unfortunate events but to me that is what brought out their best service. FYI the issues were out of their control and I am picky. At the end of the day, people buy from people. I will continue to refer business to them.

On my latest install, they were professional from start to finish, although not perfect in some areas (more on that later). I'll start with the issues, and then close with the positives. On our first house, I encountered some disappointing challenges during the execution/installation phase. Our garden was trampled on, one of the windows were installed on the wrong spot, and a light fixture was damaged and the crew tried (poorly) fixing it without notifying me (all caught on CCTV). With all that said though, the company stands by doing the right thing and resolved everything on a timely manner. How it was handled was much appreciated and influenced me to use them again and refer others. On our second house, almost everything went smoothly. All windows were replaced in just two days! Just encountered a minor hiccup when a wall was damaged and a worker claimed it was pre-existing. Luckily, I purposely took before-photos and was able to provide evidence that it was not pre-existing. In the end, it was fixed within satisfaction. As for the positives, I really have to give credit to Milton, the supervisor on the second house. He was very professional and accommodating. On one of the windows, he found water damage and pointed it out to me instead of trying to cover it up. The damage and source were all fixed. Seriously, he could have moved on and I would have never known! All the windows were installed to my satisfaction. Few minor quirks remained, but possibly due to the window manufacture (or so I was explained). Also appreciate how floors snd countertops are covered to prevent/reduce damage and dust. I recommend this company. Here are some tips before using them (or any other window company): - Take lots of photos of each window before the work starts. Ensure to get several close ups and different angles of the trim and corners, both inside and out. Ensure good lighting for a useful photo. - Check with your HOA to see if it's the window replacements are allowed. Some care about colors of trim and grid vs non-grid. - Expect the order to take several months to come in. Get your quote early if it's a house you plan on moving in.

Not League City Glass though. They were prompt on arriving for the quote, fully informed us about expectations, and the turn around on the quote followed professional communication expectations. Additionally they came out a second time after some modifications were made to our project to double check their measurements. We put 50% down so they could order the needed supplies and they arrived quickly and we were able to schedule the install. On the day of the install they arrived with a 4 man crew so they would be able to carry our 500 lbs piece upstairs safely. As you can see in my attached photo the end results look spectacular. The Job started on October 31 and was finished before Christmas. We had to live through the demo and construction so the put up lots of heavy plastic drapes to protect the rest of the home from dust. The crew kept a very clean work area as well. Any questions or concerns we had were addresses promptly. This was a large job (for us). All the lighting fixtures were changed, the old island was pulled out and replaced with a much more functional custom island, and appliances were updated and/or added. I do not know how I ever lived without a double oven. The backsplash tile work looks great and we love the new sink! I could go on and on. The final product was outstanding! We love our new kitchen. Please view some of the photos. This was not the first time I have used her. I have used C & L to put real hardwood flooring in my formals and Pergo Laminate in our family room. I have also used Cyndy in the past as a designer. She helped us with custom curtains, wallpaper and recovering furniture. Because she is a designer, she brings addition value when discussing options for colors, style and trends. She has a keen eye to detail as well. After Hurricane Harvey, my "Boss" needed a contractor and I referred C & L. Seriously that how much I trust Cyndy and C & L to get the job done on time and on budget. She just finished up on her home and they moved back in July 4th. Their whole bottom floor was gutted. My Boss was extremely pleased with her work too. I cannot sing her praises enough. I appreciate her pragmatic approach to each of the jobs that she did for me. Her estimates for each job were very accurate. Each job was finished on time to my complete satisfaction. In 2013, this company helped me redesign my kitchen. I also had many parts of my home (built in 1955) updated to look modern and stylish. I swear, it looks like it's straight out of a design magazine. People complement "my design skills" all the time, but I didn't do any of it. It was all Cyndy! In 2016, I had them come to my home again to re-floor my kitchen, mudroom, and media room. Her team put in a new wood floor in a few rooms and even matched it to my existing, original wood floors! They also put down new tile (which looks great thanks to Cyndy's interior design experience). Honestly, looking at the one negative review on here really made me scratch my chin. I'd highly recommend C&L Contracting and Design to my friends and family. I will continue to choose them for my design and contracting needs.

Kim came through for us when we were in a bind. We had new windows coming and needed shutters removed. We could find people to put them up but not take them down. Kim took them down then he and his crew put them back up and did an excellent job! You couldn't tell they had ever been removed. After multiple appointments with several Shutter/Blinds companies I decided on Gulf Coast and so glad I did. Tim is very professional and accommodating, he was kind enough to come in on a Sunday to measure our windows. I was happy to support a small local business in Friendswood as well.
