This beach is perfectly located on the west coast and I love that it's always such clean , clear waters. Sunrise or sunset, this beach is in my top 5 of Florida beaches for sure. It was the perfect mix of people .. also .. not TOO many people either .. very populated but not crowded and having easy access to a food place , a bar and restrooms ( Caddy's ) is a very nice feature. I visited Upham Beach for a sunset photoshoot with a photographer and I have to say the scenery did…read morenot disappoint. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, and the beach made for the perfect backdrop for photos. One thing I wasn't expecting was just how busy it was even on a Sunday evening. There was so much going on from photographers taking family and couple photos to proposals and other special events. It definitely seems like a popular spot for capturing memorable moments. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend arriving early because parking can be a challenge. We had to spend some time looking for a spot and I imagine it's even more crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings. Overall, it's a beautiful beach with gorgeous sunset views, and I'm glad I got to experience it. Personally, I don't think it's a beach I'd go out of my way to visit again on my own since I prefer quieter beaches but I'd definitely come back if a friend invited me or if I had another photoshoot planned.

There is no Dog beach. People have made this up and keep posting pictures. When the police are called, people are asked to leave and may be fined for this infraction. Articles like this on Yelp are misleading and causing problems for people who truly want to obey the law and have great vacation. When they come thinking their dog can go with them to the beach and find out otherwise, it can ruin one's holiday. Please correct this information. Many just bring their dog anyway after they find it is illegal hoping they won't get caught. Sunset Beach and all beaches in Florida are a protected ecosystem that needs to be maintained. No natural predators of birds, turtles, crabs, or other marine life exist in this ecosystem. Protect our beautiful beaches. Take your wonderful dog somewhere else where it can enjoy the vacation, too.

Wow! What an experience! We took a 9am tour to Shell Key on Cap'n Dalton's boat. There were only…read moresix passengers on board, which meant there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sunshine. Dalton provided expert commentary about the area, even pointing out a few celebrity homes and yachts along the way. It was a gorgeous ride over to Shell Key, and we even saw a few dolphins along the way. Once on the island, we had about 45-50 minutes to explore the beaches and do a little snorkeling and shell-hunting. The island is aptly named, with rows and piles of shells along its white, sandy beaches. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. Soon enough we were back on board and heading back to the harbor. And that's when the magic happened: dolphins! Following along in our wake, and no doubt attracted to the enthusiastic squeals of one of our dolphin-loving fellow passengers, the dolphins put on quite a show. Even Dalton, who I assume sees a LOT of dolphins, was impressed by how long they followed in our wake and performed jumps and flips for us. It was truly one of the most remarkable experiences of my life! Thank you Dalton and Island Ferry for an amazing and memorable tour and one of the true highlights of our vacation!

Mother's Day Madeira Beach…read more May 2026 We waited until later in the evening to finally walk out onto the beach after the Florida heat cooled down enough for us to enjoy it safely. The Gulf was is so beautiful at this time of the day , the breeze felt soft against our skin, and the fine white sand stretched endlessly beneath our feet. My mother is in her 80s now, and as we walked slowly together along the shoreline, I found myself thinking quietly... how many more days... months... or years do I have left with her? Life is so precious. Time moves faster than we all realize. Being able to spend quality time with my mother is a rare and precious gift.. moments like this at the beautiful ocean with the sound of the waves crashing along the shoreline... the warmth of the sunset wrapping us with tactile and visible heat .. OuiOui. What a beautiful feast indeed, non-commercialized, natural, secluded, what seems to be a never ending dream.. a paradise, as far as the eye can see, never crowded. Keep walking, ponder life's journey, then, keep going.. breathe in the sea air, you become "elated." To walk or tread on air is to feel "elated." Every breath you take, every step you make, walking, breathing, free flowing breathing, living in the moment, breathing in the Madeira beach sea air, breathing in the precious spark of life, inhale, exhale, the name of God, reminds me of the story of the name of God.. "There was a moment when Moses had the nerve to ask God what his name is. God was gracious enough to answer, and the name he gave is recorded in the original Hebrew as YHWH. Never…read moremind the amazingly beautiful scenery, the boat's Captain (Captain Ned) and First Mate (Dave) made this trip the highlight of our entire adventure. Communication and education between those two and with the passengers were amazing the entire trip. They are both incredibly knowledgeable about the sea/sea life and boating and offered any and all necessary information to the passengers. They know how to have fun, man! Highly, highly recommend if you're anywhere near the St. Pete/Tampa Bay area!
