What we walked into was a SCAM operation disguised as a gun shop. Not only did they steal our money, but they did it with smug attitudes, lies, and ZERO accountability. That was the "customer service" from a rude, untrained young woman who apparently runs the place. I recently moved to El Paso from California and wasn't sure if I was able to purchase a firearm at the moment. Gun Central assured me that I could. I just needed to provide them proof of residency. I showed them the documents they requested and then the submitted my information for a back ground check. That was back in 09-29-2023. I took on some work out of state and never heard from them again. It is now 06-29-2024 and I'm back in El Paso. I lost interest in the purchase and requested my money back. Initially gun central refused. Then they said they will charge a restocking fee. I argued how can something be restocked if it never left the shelf? Employees are great, but I was sold a defective weapon, that I wasn't allowed to touch until after I purchased it. It turns out the magazine would not lock in. One of the employees even dropped it on the floor. When I got it home, I discovered the problem. I took it back, and they said they would fix it. After nearly a month I asked for store credit instead. The owner said no, and didn't even come out to talk to me. Even the employees were surprised they wouldn't work with me. Finally I contacted my credit card company, and requested a refund. In the end my credit card company said there was no proof that I returned it 3 hours after the purchase, yes, it was my mistake for not getting something in writing. The shop kept telling the credit card company that I purchased it, but didn't admit to having it all this time. So, after several months of fighting to get a refund. I broke down and picked it up. I asked for something in writing for what had been done, and for the first time the owner came out to talk to me. He said it was fixed, and that's all I needed, when I pushed the issue he said I was bullying them. He said if it went out again, I could send it to the manufacturer. Surprise, surprise, it went out again. After years of spending about $1000 a month, this is how it ends. My warning is, if they won't let you touch it before you purchase it, be wary. If you take it back for repairs, get something in writing. I will no longer be a customer, and have learned a valuable lesson. read more

Gun Central specializes in pro-active defense weapons. I have always found their staff to be helpful, professional although their prices are a little higher across the board. They carry a good selection although they only had 2 45 cal in stock . Most of the handguns were either 40 cal or 9 cal which I found somewhat disappointing. They carry a good supply of holsters although I think you can do better on line. Their selection of ear protection is excellent with many brands to choose. There is a gun Smith on duty three so modifications can be down on the spot. The rifle selection is also above par. They really make a good attempt at fitting the proper weapon for you. read more

The SD9VE handguns that they advertise can be bought almost anywhere else for $50 cheaper. Unprofessional staff, I watched an employee pull his gun from his holster while "joking" with another. Beyond that display the staff aren't very knowledgeable or helpful. I tried to sell a gun (an HK P7) to them and was quoted at $200. This seemed low to me. We get to this place to shoot and they charge me 45 dollars to allow my son and I to shoot which seemed a little steep but oh well. We came with regular .223 ammunition FMJ nothing fancy, stuff you can get at Walmart for target shooting. My ammo is immediately checked and it was determined by their staff that I cannot shoot the ammo I brought because of their "burm". (Last I checked, I thought we were at a gun range and this place clearly sells semi auto rifles) I have never had a problem shooting this ammo at any other indoor gun range. So now I must purchase Gun Central's ammo which from what they tell me is some water down version that they sell me for 15 dollars (20 rounds). To make it worth my while I buy 40 rounds which equal 30 dollars plus the 45 I am spending for my son and I. So now we are at $75 to shoot 40 rounds of .223?? We then have to wait about 30 mins for a lane to open up because this place only has 5 lanes. We get in there and this "burm" they speak of will clearly absorb my regular .223 ammo without any problems. There are people in there shooting fully automatic weapons without any issues. Bottom line I felt like this place really just wanted to have their way with my debit card. I understand you guys are a small business but you really need to stop the price gouging if you want any customers to come back. Be careful if you're not a good shot at the range, if you hit their range system for any reason they will charge you. Five bucks for every time you hit the top part near the head shot & supposedly 9,000 dollars if their system is otherwise damaged and rendered inoperable. We hadn't visited in over a year so we had a few waivers to fill out...about five minutes. But an older gentleman with a gun central shirt kept staring at one of my sons who was standing over to the side waiting for me. It made me feel uncomfortable because kept staring (review your own cameras). My son was the only Black person in the store and the man's staring was obvious and constant. When we entered the range the young man (range cadre) was rude, short, and snappy. He seemed perturbed every time we asked a question. He can definitely use some customer service training.
