The quote also happened to be the cheapest of the 3 companies I got bids from. - The installation went very smoothly. I understand that direct vent water heaters are a little tricky to install, but Brandon installed perfectly. He arrived on time, got rid of our old water heater, and added a new water heater with several fixes: the overflow pipe now runs to the sink, he used a "flex vent" kit so the water heater can sit on the ground, and he put the water heater in a tray to reduce issues from slow leaks since I don't have a basement drain. - After the install, Brandon taught me how to change the temp / turn the water heater off / how to flush it / how to change the anode rod. Very pleased with the work and my new water heater is working flawlessly. The only downside was that there was no permit. I'm no expert on permits. He received half of the payment down, $4300, dug up my whole front yard, put a hole in the city's storm drain pipe and then ghosted everyone. He didn't even fix the piece of pipe he was hired to fix. He also left all of the equipment he had rented, 2 trailers and an excavator, at my property. Thumbtack has now removed him from their platform, the city and county are both looking for him and I'm out $4300 and have to start my project all over again.
