While I was waiting 20 min for him to go back and forth to the house, I got to know the men there. They are so knowledgeable, helpful and just kind. My biggest issue with this place is the staff. Not all. I have had some good and some bad experiences here. Some of the male staff have a tendency to treat female customers poorly. Like we don't know what we are talking about just because we are not a man. I buy guns fairly frequently, but I choose to buy them elsewhere that treats me like a person. read more

Excellent Ar-500 backstop. You can fire your SS-109 and N72 light armor piercing rounds or steel core with no problem. I had to take off three stars because some of the staff is extraordinarily rude. Most are NOT but a couple are. I watched one dress down an elderly veteran of the marines and police for lifting the swing arm table. He wasn't supposed to, however there were no signs to indicate that nor locks on the table. The employee cursed at him loudly and told him the same thing no fewer than six times at extremely loud volume. He talked to this elderly, though very sharp man as if he were an abused child. Unfortunately not the first time I've seen this behavior. Safety is important, but once you've got the point across, let it be. Verbally abusing elderly veterans is reprehensible. Personally I'd like to have seen this individual physically disciplined by the Corps and the police force. To top it off, the company arbitrarily decided to close an hour early. They had no regard for the fee we paid to shoot and I was not able to sight in the guns I brought in. They said they "didn't have enough business". Well keeping your advertised hours is a good start to keep business. Closing early with no refunds is a good way of losing it. Although I seem angry about the scheduling, I'm used to their lackadaisical work ethic. Far more disgusting is their sometime treatment of customers. I've even had them turn out the lights while I was packing up. Had to collect my tools by flashlight. Also rented a full auto AR-15. It was so fouled that it would fire only between 1-3 shots. It badly needed a full cleaning. That was without question the dirtiest firearm I have ever had the displeasure of handling. These should be cleaned every other customer on a schedule. I could not clear the fouling despite having some cleaning compounds. It honestly looked like caked axle grease in the chamber and bolt carrier group. Again no refund offered. Conclusion: the owners either need to be retrained on how to operate a business and discipline cruel employees or they need to to go over to Big Woods Goods and observe how customer service is supposed to look. Overview: MOST employees are very helpful. The backstop is fantastic. The flat fee for shooting is GREAT IF they keep advertised hours. I felt I should stress that so the entire review wasn't negative or reflected poorly on the kind and helpful good employees. The reason to come here is basically the flat fee to shoot. Customer service will be generally good. Range relations will be okay or abusive. Full auto rentals will be okay or non functional. Business hours will be whatever they feel like that day. And don't expect an apology from them if they wrong you. (There is an older individual who seems to be responsible for this behavior and trickle-down culture. If he gets ornery with you, just leave. He's not going to help you in any way or make any attempt to keep your business. I believe that man said his son owned the place. If so, he should have his father retire immediately and retrain or fire the abusive staff members.) read more

As an over-30-year-old woman, I've come to expect not being taken seriously when I walk into a gun store. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Hi Caliber! I was greeted by a couple different staff members, and was told someone would be with me momentarily. Bill (our salesperson, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful) came over and showed me the gun I wanted to see, going over all the different options available for that model. I had a gun I was hoping to trade in, and he gave me a very reasonable amount for it (more than I expected!). I decided which version I wanted, and he processed my trade-in and sale quickly and efficiently, making it a very enjoyable experience. In addition I received a free range pass and enrolled in the Rewards Loyalty Program, which allows you to earn rewards for every dollar spent. Overall a very good experience, so I'll definitely be back! read more

Came in on my lunch break one day buying eye and ear protection and just looking around. Everyone was very friendly and asked if I needed help with anything. I came back later that day for some range time and had a different staff behind the counter. They were also very friendly and helpful with me. They were nice and laid back but very clear about the rules of the range. As my first (and second, I guess) experience at this place, I'd say it was very good. After a frustrating experience at another store in Smyrna attempting to obtain information and accessories for my AR-15 I stopped by Hi Caliper in hopes that they would have what I needed. I was a little skeptical because they are not as big as some of the shops in Cherokee & Cobb counties. My fears were quickly squashed. They had a full line of accessories and not just Magpul and Tapco as other shops seem to exclusively sell. I bought two items and they even installed one item free of charge. The shop is clean and well stocked without being over bearing. They have a very nice place for the wives (or husbands) with big leather chairs to sit while the other shops. The staff seems eager to help and don't have that air of a lot of gun shop employees that make you feel like a moron if you don't know the twist of your barrel or the complete genealogy and history of the 1911. There was a first time shooter that had just used the range and they seemed to care that they had a good first time experience. I've used the range twice and have been pleased. It's well lit, clean, well ventilated and affordable. Even their range rounds are affordable. I'll be back to use the range and buy more accessories for my AR and possibly a gun or two. read more

I visited this indoor gun range today. It was my first visit. The store/ waiting area was nice, how ever anytime someone fired the cabinets and walls shook, outside of the range. Once inside the range it was extremely small. The targets are held up by homemade clips, so the targets are uneven and flew off on to the ground. One of their employees showed absolute disrespect to a military customer.His gun jammed and asked the worker for some help. The worker snatched his gun and stormed off. He then came back in the room yelling at service man saying " You can not use this ammo. You will be paying $10,000 for a new welding job.." and so on. Never was I asked to show them my ammo, or what kind I had. He showed absolute disrespect to a man in the U.S. military; in front of everyone in the range. The man apologized to the worker and said he didn't know. My party continued to shoot, and the same ignorant worker brought a family in to give lessons next to my lane. He proceeded to get made at each of them for jamming the gun so many times. He them laid his broom in the lane I was using!!!! This employee absolutely ruined our experience and I will no be using their service ever again!!! Not only showing disrespect to myself, but to a man that serves in the military. I am extremely offended as I come from a family with strong military action. I will be taking my business else where. read more

Since they opened, I have been a GREAT customer and have spent a small fortune at this store. I would hate to admit just how many guns I have purchased from Hi Caliber but I would venture to say there are few that have bought more from them. Today I decided to get a jump on some Christmas shopping and pick up a 10/22 for my son. After paying I asked about the range pass. I was told that Sean (the owner) had discontinued giving a free range pass with gun purchase a couple months ago. I would not have made the purchase if I had known this. Hi Caliber is not known for low prices. Cherokee Pawn has the same rifle for $20 cheaper. I don't understand Sean's business model. Both Big Woods and GA firing line give free range time with gun purchase and often at better prices. Also with a gun show in the area at least twice a month, there is no shortage of opportunities to find competitive pricing. I am pretty sure I just purchased my last gun from Hi Caliber. read more
