The food was delicious as usual. Took my friend for her first time. Let me tell you the service was a bit too much. A waitress at your table every 5 minutes. She rushed to give us the check and came back twice before we finally paid. I asked her if they were closing soon ( knew we had a few hours to spare ) and she needed us to leave. She said oh no, take your time. She then continued to come back every 5 minutes even taking the check, my food as I was finishing and proceeded to slowly bus the table while we were in a deep conversation. Very awkward!! We decide to leave when looked like she was headed for my water and placemat, the one two things remaining. Maybe she was bored as it as very slow besides take out but seriously.... I love Indian food! After reading the reviews I was pretty excited to try this place, but I was a little disappointed. We did Takeout, everything was packaged well, nothing spilled. But the flavors weren't quite there. I got Chicken Coconut Korma, and it was a sweet sauce, but didn't have much depth to it. Their rice was just plain basmati rice, which isn't bad, but definitely not the best. I asked for mild and they delivered on that, which I really appreciate! While I was eating, one of the pieces of chicken had a bit of a crunchy tendon part that I had to spit out. Kind of becomes unappetizing when you get that crunch. My husband got the Lamb Saag and it was a different color and texture than other Saag. It's like the spinach was just chopped and not really blended well for the normal, gorgeous green of a Saag. He also asked for a medium, and it was too spicy for him, which he can take spice, but he said it had too much of a kick, so beware of spice level if you don't want it too spicy! Their cheese Naan was ok, I prefer the white cheese that other restaurants do, over the yellow cheese this place used. Overall, I would come back, but it's probably not the first Indian place I would want to go to. read more

What makes this place unique is that it has Nepalese cuisine in addition to north-Indian. I ordered a standard dish in American Indian restaurants: a chicken tikka masala with paratha, and asked for the spice level to be "authentic". And man... Guras Spice House does well in the spice game! The tikka masala curry was rich in garam masala, tomato and cream. Yet, it was spicy enough to make my nose run, and my ears pop a little. Despite that, I probably finished that dish in less than 5 minutes it was that delicious! And for an Indian restaurant, the price wasn't horrible! $21 (including a 20% tip) is a tad less than what I'd pay at many other Indian restaurants. I have got to come back at some point just to try the Nepalese dishes they have! read more

Summary: Do not dine in, order take out. The food is really good! I ordered the chicken vindaloo with garlic naan and was pleasantly surprised how great the taste was. Definitely satisfied my Indian food craving. The drawback of this place solely revolves around the cleanliness of the dining area and the attention to detail, or lack there of. This is why I recommend ordering your food to go. Immediately after sitting down at our table I felt something go down my shirt. At first I didn't think anything of it but after a couple more seconds I saw a particle float down onto the table. I looked up and saw an air vent caked with something that resembled dust but seemed thicker if that makes any sense. (Picture attached) I immediately asked to be moved to a different table. After moving to the new table, the waitress took two waters from our previous table and moved them over to our new table. I had ask the server to please bring us new waters... why do I have to ask that. Once we got new waters, one of the waters had a black bug in it. We just didn't drink that one as we didn't want to cause more trouble but still thought it was worth mentioning here. (Picture attached) Not really an issue but what still had my brain going ???? was that the waitress refilled our full glasses of water. I appreciate the attentiveness but how am I supposed to move the glass without spilling? The attached picture shows where the level of water was before and after the refill. When we eventually got our food, we actually got one more item than we ordered. We pointed this out to the staff and they gave us the extra entree for free. That was nice of them so thanks for that. When we were all done with our meal we asked for two to-go boxes. One of the boxes has a whole in the bottom. It looked like it may have been melted or something. I asked for a new box and they obliged. Overall the experience was a disaster but the food was so good that I might actually order from this place again. I will however only be ordering take out and I urge you to do the same until they get this figured out. read more

We had a brother's night out as well with my dad. There were 8 in our party and we ordered so many items (24) to share it went a little overboard. Luckily a reservation was made a day in advance otherwise would have been difficult. Had no idea there was a Nepalese/Indian style restaurant this far West in Herriman? Food came out quickly, some stuff was super spicy other stuff was just perfect. They had an awesome mixed pickle that went well with the curries. We couldn't finish even 1/2 of it so we all had take away containers. We noticed they had a buffet table for lunch. Great service, fresh cooked food, nicely spiced Nepalese cuisine with some items borrowed from India. For sure will be back and also want to try the lunch buffet. read more

Yum. Yum. Yum!!!! This place has some delicious lamb coconut curry and there's a ton of meat. The house sweet (peshwari) naan is good too, except I wanted the bread to be a bit more crunchy like the other side. Colors and decor looks romantic with the dark dining sets and red popping napkins! I love it! Excellent service and the server helped me decide on the appetizer and entree. Came around often with water and always had a smile on his face. Very friendly and would love to come back and try the rest of the menu. I wish it was closer to where I lived. read more

Alem is the best waitress this place has ever had. In fact she ran the entire from area from seating parties, taking orders, bussing tables and answering phones. WOW, what a rock star. Guras has always had the best Indian food in Utah but there service always lacked...no longer. They are really lucky to have this caliber of attentiveness. My knife fell during our meal and while she was near the back on a call, she proactively brought me a clean knife. Food speclatular as always. One of the better Indian and Nepalese restaurant in the Herriman, Riverton and South Jordan area. Their Samosas are to die for. Great flavors with the perfect crispness. The Chicken Tikka Masala is a must order along with the fluffy basmati rice it comes with. You also have to get their garlic naan as it is baked to perfection. This place was empty for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I couldn't tell you why except is was a Holliday weekend. The food was excellent, and the serve wasn't intrusive although we were the only patrons. It's a peaceful little gem of a restaurant. The lamb korma looked like, as chef Ramsey would say (only cuz I've been watching a lot of kitchen nightmares), looks like dog food. And it was $15.99, it was such a small portion. I ordered takeout and was excited to try the garlic naan based on a review I saw online. Unfortunately, it seemed undercooked and was very doughy throughout most of it. The chicken tikka Masala was decent and I can't complain about the taste. I enjoyed it! However, the Togo packaging for the curry does not seal completely and when I arrived home it had leaked quite a bit into the bag and through it. Luckily I was able to get the stain out of my car seats so there was no permanent damage. It's a good option on a Sunday when there's no other Indian places open near you, but definitely not my first choice. The medium spiced chicken tikka masala was overpowering with heat but seemed not to have the usual buttery taste that helps balance spice. Started watching the show family karma and seeing all the food they were eating I had to order Indian food. It was $47 order before tax and tips which made it about 62. It took about 40 minutes to get the order I live three minutes away. The chicken tiki marsala that cost $13 was in a very small container but it's delicious with the basmati rice. The chicken biryani was great. Tasty spicy rice with chunks of chicken. The chicken pakora was not good. It was very hard and dry, like it was from yesterday. The sauces helped a little but I couldn't eat it. The chicken momo are like Chinese dumplings or Goza. They were good. Overall it was a very spicy tasty meal. read more

We love Gura's! We dined in a few times but during the pandemic we started ordering to-go & got accustomed to that. The food is always consistent, good flavor, and great portions. In my opinion they are up to par if not better than Bombay House. The staff has always been friendly & prompt with service. My go-to order is their chicken curry medium spice & my husband loves their lamb vindaloo mild spice. Their spice levels are good, not too spicy where you can't finish your meal but a good heat. And we have to each get our own order of their garlic naan so we don't fight over it! read more

Oh man! Where do I start?! This place is by far one of thee BEST Indian restaurants I've ever been to. We ordered: Chicken Tandoori, Lamb Boti Kabob Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan and a Strawberry Lassi. We ordered mild for all the dishes which I warn you, the mild does have a kick. But it was very tasty. For one of the Lamb Boti Kabobs and the Chicken Tikka Masala, we ordered hot. Our lips were ON FIRE! It was delicious though! The Strawberry Lassi drink was fantastic and tasted very healthy (there was yogurt in it... :) ) We liked all our dishes but our favorite dish was the Chicken Tandoori. The rice was a bit on the hard side...if it was softer, I'm sure it would have been phenomenal. I highly recommend this place. It was very clean and a relaxing place. I really like the location - only because I live down the road. But I think a restaurant like this IS needed in Herriman. I hope this place stays in business and more people check it out. I'm surprised I hadn't left a review already....anyway, total five star all the way. We've eaten here 4-5 times since they arrived here in Herriman and been satisfied each time. I've eaten curry from Singapore to Dubai and places in between and this place rocks it every time. Dont be shy to ask about spice levels for your best personal tastes. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait, but in my experience that means I'm getting super fresh food, which always I have. Don't miss this diamond in the rough.
