My parents took me and my boyfriend here, and there are some pros and cons to this restaurant. First off, the food is delicious! All the curries we ordered were seasoned perfectly! The garlic naan was delicious. The veggie samosas were bursting with flavor! I would not order the chicken pakora again. You get eight tiny nugget sized pieces that are only OK. They were a bit tough, and I initially thought that they heated up some chicken nuggets and just seasoned them. The ambience was delightful! The coloring of the walls and the music was the perfect setting for a delightful dinner! The Service, however, was surprisingly slow. There was one person working and she was doing a pretty decent job. She was respectful and kind and super sweet. However, there were only two other tables in the restaurant at the time. We arrived around 4 PM on a Sunday. Our food came out incredibly slowly. Our boxes arrived slowly as well. The whole experience took almost 2 hours, which was excessive.

Lovely space with friendly attentive service and delicious seemingly home cooked fare. We really enjoyed the saag lamb (greens with chunks of lamb meat), chicken momos (Nepalese dumplings which were quite flavorful and herbaceous with a nice sauce), and aloo paratha (potato stuffed whole wheat bread). The daal makhani was a bit tasteless and needed salt and more flavor. It was fine when we added salt but we would skip this one next time.

It's a solid Indian option but I think I just haven't found the item that I really love here yet. The veggie platter is a great deal but the samosa just didn't seems so fresh, I found on the tough side. The takeout portion for the curry seems small for $15. For those of us that don't love cheese, what's the best vegetarian item here?

We have been to Bombay House a few times, so decided to try nearby Gurkhas instead. Glad we did - it was excellent! It's much less crowded and has a very tranquil atmosphere. Started with veggie momos - the Nepalese dumplings. Delicious - especially the turmeric laden sauce that it comes with. Had the chicken tikka masala and dal makhani for our entrées. Both outstanding. Garlic naan was light and flaky - nicely done. Decent beer list, but the wine list definitely needs some work! Haha.

This is a very good choice to satisfy your next Indian food craving. The service was great. The food was amazing and the restaurant was clean! I got the tikki masala with medium spice, and it was pretty spicy!

Came here randomly because it was on the way to REI, and I'm so glad that we did. During lunch there is a buffet with a pretty decent amount of offerings for vegetarians and meat eaters. On the vegetarian side, there were three different types of rice, stir fried noodles, saag paneer, aloo kerau, vegetable coconut karma, naan, fried naan, mixed pakora and mixed lentils on top of a small salad bar. On meat side, there was the goat, butter chicken and tandoori chicken. That's a lot of food. We also ordered onion bhaji, vegetable pakora, yellow dhal soup, and aloo bhindi with garlic naan. Yes there were a lot of containers to bring home. Out of the buffet, I recommend all three of the meat dishes. They were tender and delicious. I loved the mixed lentil and the aloo kerau for the vegetarian dishes. The onion bhaji and vegetable pakora were great, fried perfectly. The aloo bhindi was okay. We have had better at other places but still decent. The Daal soup was fabolous, very flavorful! Definitely would recommend.

I ordered through their online ordering system, which was a little clunky, but it got the job done. I thought the food was delicious. The portion sizes were great, the flavors were excellent, and the pick up experience was hassle free. The interior was dimly lit and seemed quite cozy. As I was picking the food up, I made a mental note to be sure to eat in next time. My biggest complaint was the spice level was too mild for me. I ordered medium spice level, but couldn't really taste any spice. I have found Indian and Thai restaurants vary greatly with their spice levels, so I will just remember to order it spicier next time. Overall, I really enjoyed Gurkhas, and will be relying on this place for my Indian cravings going forward.

Really loved Gurkhas! The parking isn't the easiest since it shares the lot with the strip mall, but overall not terrible. We loved the decor and atmosphere being very peaceful. The onion bhaji appetizer came out hot and was a generous portion. My only complain would be the green sauce (I assume mint chutney) was bland. Our entrees though we're fabulous. They came out extremely hot and fresh. The chicken for both were so juicy and tender. The butter chicken is the best we have had in Salt Lake City so far. The naan..... wow wow and wow. Again so hot and fresh, thin and crispy but also fluffy. Really blew us away. Service was good, they kept our waters full and were very nice.

The best part? You can order custom sushi rolls made fresh--no waiting around for dried-out rice rolls here. We tried the Sunrise Roll, which was bright and citrusy with a lemony kick, and the Tequila Roll, which packed some serious heat. I tapped out after one spicy piece (spice and I are not friends), but my other half loved it and polished off the rest without hesitation. The buffet line is a solid spread too: sashimi, nigiri, a seafood section with peeled shrimp, mussels, and rock crab, plus a bunch of hot dishes to round things out. Pro tip: The plates and bowls are underneath the buffet counters. It took me a moment to find them, but my shorter half was already ahead of the game--of course. They've got a dumpling station that's worth lingering over, and the pork belly buns were so good I may have gone back for seconds (and thirds). And if you're a prawn fan? They've got them every which way: chilled, grilled, fried--take your pick. The soups are self-serve and include miso, seafood, and egg drop--classic, comforting, and great for warming up between plates. Special shoutout to Nico, our friendly and helpful server who explained how everything works since it was our first time. Always appreciate service with a smile. We left full, happy, and with a couple of come-back cards for $3 off lunch and $5 off dinner--nice little bonus! While it may not be our go-to for sushi-only cravings, it's definitely one of the better buffets in town, and we'll absolutely be back.

It will be hard to find a better restaurant view in SLC than this one and the interior has a beautiful elegant vibe to it and it wasn't even busy when we were there for a weekend lunch. As for the food, I ordered the Pork Osso Buco - the pork was nice and tender and fell right off the bone. The rice had a nice flavor to it and the mango salsa complemented the dish with some fresh sweetness. My one slight point for improvement was that the pork could have been a bit more flavorful / seasoned more, but I still really enjoyed this dish. $34 was slightly on the pricey end but understandable given the quality of restaurant. The complimentary bread to start was also great, as it was soft and the berry jam was delicious. As mentioned, the environment is beautiful with floor-to-ceiling windows of the city views. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and the service speed was decent. They had plenty of seating available with no reservation needed. Y'all also really know how to give a guy high blood pressure, because some of the meat was overly salty and overcooked -- especially the brisket. Please ease up on the salt moving forward. My mouth was tingling. And if y'all are repurposing the old meat into the brisket, at least mask it better or repurpose it into other dishes. My tastebuds were not prepared for that level of assault. As a steak lover, I usually get my steak medium rare, but out of the hour and 45 minutes I was eating there with my family, there was only one time the steak came out bloody. Every other time? Another round of applause -- well‑done, with a hint of medium well here and there. My table also got skipped a couple of times by one of the waitresses carrying the meat, but our main waitress was very responsive and respectful, so props to her. The menu states that you can request certain cuts, but apparently that rule has changed. When we requested a specific cut, we were told they have to go through the full rotation before serving it again. Long story short: just wait until the cut comes back around. If that's the case, remove that option from the menu -- it's misleading. Or simply tell us you're short‑staffed; we'd be more than understanding. Bacon‑wrapped beef was good. Top sirloin tasted good but was overcooked, same with the center cut. NY strip was overcooked, brisket was salty, linguica was overcooked, pineapple was solid. Not a lot of positives with the beef -- the only positive thing was that it was steak. Please watch those cook times and how much seasoning is going on the meat. That was a one and done meal.
