    Lunch buffet variety

Very few Indian places have lunch buffet anymore and that's what I was really looking for. I've been here once before. For two of us lunch buffet was a total of $34. Had a good selection of your main Indian dishes. It was all very good and the naan came out hot and fresh. The service was good and the staff was very friendly and came to check on us throughout.

I came here for dinner early in the evening when it wasn't busy. The service was excellent and my food came out quickly. Vegan options were clearly labeled. I got the curry vegetables and the tandoori roti. I asked for hot for the curry and the dish had a nice spice to it. The bread was really fresh and had a good texture to it. I would definitely come back.

Pros: complimentary chai and naan, lots of vegetarian and meat options, good price for buffet, lunch and dinner buffet options. Plus points for the various chutneys accompanying the samosas. Cons: meats were all chicken dishes, dishes could be spicier. Gurkhas is a clean and appealing restaurant offering AYCE Indian buffet options for lunch and dinner. Veg dishes I tried: Dal makhani, saag with paneer, veg korma, veg stir fry Meat dishes: butter chicken and tandoori chicken All the dishes I tried were fresh and flavorful albeit a little bland for my pallete, but the price and service was top notch. I'll be back for sure!

Overall (D) This place is not good. The food during the lunch buffet was watered down "Indian" food. The positive reviews have got to be from individuals who have not been to an Indian restaurant before. Honestly if this is what passes for decent Indian food - I will open up a place in Colorado Springs. Food (D) It was bad. The chutneys were watered down. Naan took forever to come out and was average and the food - ehhh. Yes it was edible but not memorable. The only thing I will remember is literally throwing up after ward. Yes I am not making this up. But threw up the mango dessert. The "tandoor" chicken was not. All the items were flavorless. Look I am not trying to be an Indian food snob. I really like Americanized Indian food and I have found my share of gems in small towns. This food is just not good. Yes it's a buffet and they had a decent selection. But just not a good one. Even the samosas had a weird taste. Service (C+) Typical old school Indian restaurant service. Staff is untrained and slow. I feel bad for them because they have not been set up to succeed. But it is what it is. The naan took forever to come out and of course all the tables got it at once. The lady is nice and pleasant but the guy is a bit of a weirdo. Value (B+) So it is only $15.99 so it is cheap and if they improved the quality of food they could charge $19.99. But the food was bad. So I'm conflicted. I guess what should I expect? So maybe this is my fault. I guess it's like going to a Chinese buffet and being disappointed. So I'm never going there again and I would strongly recommend anyone who does to try other Indian places. There has to be better options. Even for buffet. It can't be this bad. I am kicking myself for wasting all those calories on such crappy food. Avoid this place at all costs It is not a 4/5 more like a 2/5

This place is a wonderful Indian buffet! The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is fresh, automatic, plentiful, and delicious. It is not close to my house, but I will make the journey to enjoy their food.

True buffet eaters know we shouldn't be expecting too much on the rate scale from buffets, especially here where it is not common. We're from CA where you can find buffets blocks from each other so we wanted to give this a try. The place is huge first of all. There's so much seating available. Very well kept. Service was great. Minimal talking with the waiter. TV's muted but on display. There are so many food options. Deliciously looking too. The Chinese food was good. The fried chicken entrees were definitely the same as every buffet, overcooked & tough. But those sauces they drown it in are so good!! The Mongolian grill is such a plus! Sushi was good. Way more options than we expected. I was definitely eating my money's worth in sushi. Sauce stations have delicious sauces. Dessert/fruit bar was good too. We're not the biggest fans of the overwatered "soft serve" ice cream at buffets even when it's included but they have a chocolate fountain, which paired well with the strawberries & marshmallows. True rating: 3.8/5.0 Leaving a 4 will gladly be back :)

They get mad when you pull out a stack of money and they expect you to tip them when they treat you poorly or pay them more money than what the shit's worth this place is gone to a joke. I've gotten cold seafood. I get looked at every time I go in here like they think they're better than one another. I've never been so disrespected in my life. I was getting to go orders and the dude literally ripped the fucking boxes out of my hand because they told us one thing when we walked in and then when we were checking out, it was a completely other, so what would any normal person do try to get them to agree on what they originally said which was they'll give us the price of two boxes per one box I went in there at 9:20. I wanted to eat just real quick 10 minutes and just sit there and eat for 10 minutes and said they handed me four boxes and said they'd get it charged for one box right then when I go to check out they say $70 when all reality I would've got as much food is I took with me home for $45 and then a dude wanted to rip the boxes out of my hand.

The Hot Spot seems to be under Vietnamese ownership, judging from the big Karaoke setup in the middle of the room and the surround music being Vietnamese songs. I'm sure this place becomes lively when there is a party and people take to their singing skills. But on this regular Saturday afternoon, it was not even half filled. Customers have a choice of ordering regular Vietnamese fares or be seated at a hot pot table to enjoy cooking your own food. One nice thing about The Hot Spot is that we weren't limited to 90 min or 2 hours. Could be because it was during a slow time. Food wise it was far from an elaborate hot pot experience. The broths don't have distinctive flavors from one another and there lacks a sauce station! Which is a signature hot pot spot! The meats, when brought out, especially the beef slices, tend to be on the darker hue, to me that signals less fresh. And the booth seats aren't the most comfortable. I think they make shift to turn the booth tables into hot pot compatible where the outlets are in the way of your knees (if you're tall and have long legs) or if short like me, the seats feel sunken. All in all, it was still a fun experience for AYCE hot pot, especially when not under time pressure and the staff is friendly albeit not the fastest.

We stopped into King Restaurant and I ordered their hot option of chicken tikka masala (Indian hot was the top, but I didn't wanna take the risk). My fiancé got their butter chicken, which ended up tasting very similar to the tikka masala. One of our other friends got the chickpea curry in medium, which honestly tasted a bit more spicier than my hot. We had two orders of garlic naan for the table. Let's start off with my spicy chicken tikka masala. It has the bright orange creamy look which suggest a more tomatoey based curry that I enjoy. The pieces of chicken were spread throughout, and were quite small. It honestly reminded me of the Tyson grilled chicken strips that were cut up into cubes and added into the curry. Not too impressed with the chicken. I also could've gotten away with the Indian spice because the hot was not spicy at all. My fiancé got the butter chicken which tasted very similar to my tikka masala. Very early into the dining experience, he had a piece of metal that was almost consumed. Upon closer inspection, it looked like a piece of aluminum foil. We alerted the waiter and he brought it back to the kitchen. He shortly came back and apologized, saying they wrap their chicken in aluminum foil and must've missed removing some when preparing the food. This adds to my theory that they just add in precooked chicken instead of marinated protein. They didn't offer to remake or comp the dish, but we just came from a long flight and needed something to eat. The naan was okay, it was more bready and cakey to what I normally prefer. It tore easily and did not have a chewiness to it. I prefer my naan to have more bounce and stretch to it. Overall, each curry was about $20. Back in CT, this is on the higher end. One of my favorite spots charges $16 and includes large, marinated, tender chicken breasts and their spicy is actually sweat inducing. I was not too impressed by the quality of the curry for the price, and the naan did not save the experience. The aluminum foil that could've been ingested was also a big negative of this dining. Based on the number of higher reviews, I am hesitant to try other Indian restaurants if this was placed at a higher caliber.

It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.
