I heard a lot of great things about this place and for the most part its true~ I loved their chicken. It was flavorful and not as greasy as other places. I had the 3 pc dark plate. It said all of its check is hot and spicy but I didn't really feel it was spicy. Maybe a tad bit salty but thats about it. They give you a slice of bread maybe to help with the salty chicken but I wish they would have corn bread or biscuit instead. I know i'm form the South so thats what i prefer. The parking lot is SMALL. The place is big they will will have a problem with parking. There isn't any parking in the back. You might just have to park at other stores but I did find that in the back there is an empty antique shop with plenty of park available. I'm sure weekends will be a bit more relaxed with parking. Just try to come early or late and avoid the lunch rush. You can choose where to sit and everything is served in styrofoam plates. YES you have a server and you need to keep in mind of tipping. Seems like this place is new and most of them or at least our server was still in training. I wish they were a bit nicer and it took so long to get our water. I honestly don't think they need servers for food that comes out on styrofoam plates IMO, but it is what it is. Be prepared to wait at least 15 mins once you order. They fry your chicken fresh so make sure you have time. Looks like to go orders are popular too. Im glad to see this close by work. Other than the server, I enjoyed the food. My first time here and I came with my co workers after a business meeting. I wish the service would have been quicker because we had another meeting to attend. Staff was great and friendly. The food was so good. I don't eat a lot of fried chicken because it's rare that it's made to my liking but the chicken here was so crispy and meat was juicy. It's not too spicy which was fine because it was delicious. The fried green tomato was so yummy. I never understood why people liked green fried tomato but after this, I definitely see why. I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed eating here. I have seen Gus's driving by almost every morning and never really thought much of it. Fried chicken is something I'm pretty familiar with especially growing up in the south. When you first walk-in, you take a seat anywhere you please. Very simple decor. Much a southern kitchen and very spacious. When we sat down we were greeted by a wonderful waiter. I sadly forgot her name but she was very nice and inviting. She was very patient with us and caring. The food was very delicious. I ordered the 3 wing combo with fried okra and mac and cheese and sweet tea. The sweet tea was just like a southerners tea. Very sweet but not too overbearing on the sugar. It was very delightful. Fried okra was on point. Crispy crunch and had a good flavor while the Mac and cheese was just delicious. I am a sucker for wings and the fried chicken here was just so juicy. Seasoned well. However and this is just me saying, I thought it was gonna be spicier. I like a kick when it comes to spicy but I wasn't complaining when it came to the food. Overall meal was great with clean bones and a clean plate. I recommend Gus's for family and friends to come by. I have wanted to try Gus's for a long time now. I don't need to go back...ever. I don't know how many things the waitress had to do while we were there, but they were ALL more important than taking care of her customers. I ordered a two piece dark with fries and greens. I got a two piece dark with double fries. No biggie other than the fact the fries had no flavor and we had to ask for salt and pepper since they don't keep shakers on the tables. The chicken was OK; definitely not as good as all the rave reviews I have read/been told about Gus's. You get better chicken at Popeye's and it's cheaper. I had a leg and thigh. The leg on my plate was pretty small, but that's not a big deal; at least I know the chicken didn't come from a mass production farm. The thigh was only half a thigh. I don't know if they butcher their own birds or get case goods, but so-so french fries, one small drumstick, and one half of a thigh leaves this dude HUNGRY! Go once so you can say you have been and then the next time you get a craving for fried chicken go to Publix or KFC or Popeye's or Bojangles; save some money and get better yard bird. read more

There are also other lots nearby but I don't know the rules on when it's ok to park there. Space - Medium to Big. Several tables + and bar area Service - Your meal will come out ~20 mins. Had a 3 piece chicken on a Sunday afternoon and it was incredibly dry. Tasted like it had been sitting there for hours under a heat lamp.

Have been wanting to try this place...the fried chicken is good, I'll give them that. The fried pickle appetizer was good too but you get MAYBE a total of half of a pickle sliced and fried and pay $6.75 for it. The Mac and cheese and beans were cold. Barely room temp. Their honey mustard sauce was good but for paying over $30 for a two piece combo plate and a 3 piece chicken tenders plate and fried pickles, wasn't worth it. When you count everything involved, the chicken itself wasn't good enough to go back for me. The best way I can describe their fried chicken is cracklin-skin fried chicken. That's what it tastes like, and it's awesome. Every bite is light and crispy, like a cracklin and is even seasoned like a cracklin. We thought it was way too expensive at $3-4 per piece, but man, it was good. What can I say that hasn't been said? Our experience here was divine. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Upon entering we immediately were seated. Our waitress was friendly and very pleasant; she happily answered our questions and was prompt with service. We ordered 3 wing plate, 3 chicken tender plate and 2 piece kids meal. The bone in chicken is spicy, 6 out of 10 spice level. The tenders were not as spicy. The crunch level was perfect and the chicken (drums/wings) were juicy and flavorful. I've been to the Gus's in Memphis and Sandy Springs and Peachtree Center so quite naturally when my gf suggested Gus's for Sunday dinner ...I said you can't go wrong. Boy was I wrong. It started from the phone conversation with "Domonique" whom I later found out was the manager. I have never experienced such rudeness and bad customer service over the phone. I wanted to cancel my order but I wanted to drive there so I could complain about being treated disrespectfully. That's how I found out she was the manager. Richard brought my food out. I asked about Domonique and he was equally as rude. He seemed to be upset that I was asking about her being the manager. It's a shame how certain people think that its ok to treat you any way they want and there are no consequences. The food wasn't at all as good as the other locations. The mac was made like Kraft boxed mac with shredded cheese on top. How basic is this Mess? I was highly disappointed and needed a blood pressure pill after forcing myself to eat that chicken. We have visited Gus's about a half dozen times over the last few months. Sometimes we order too much food and others not enough. We love the hot fried chicken. Once we got the tenders and decided to settle on the breast and wings and have not been disappointed. When the chicken arrives we both wonder if it is going to be too dry. Never has been. Always perfectly cooked. Some reviews complain about the size of the chicken pieces, not us the smallest pieces have a tendency to be moister and tenderer...big is not always better. Sometimes the chicken comes quicker than other times but that is no problem for us. The reason for a rating if 4 versus 5 are the sides. The Mac n cheese is hot and cheesy but doesn't rank in the homemade to me. But it is pretty good. The coleslaw is average and probably great if you like a lot of mayo. Haven't had any of the desserts but one day soon. Love the wings too much here. Service is always great, just might have to wait a bit for the great chicken. Highly recommend. read more

Got home and we were Missing food so had to turn around and Go back. Then we sat down to eat and half of the chicken was undercooked and we Couldn't eat it. I am super glad that they opened up a location in Chamblee because now I don't have to go all the way downtown to get some good ol' Southern fried chicken! Got to savor this moment with my best friend from HS - grew up southern and 20+ years later eating southern with the following: Fried Green Tomatoes: classic with requested buttermilk ranch PROS: - good crispy cornmeal breading - good flavor, not soggy. - decently shareable but only between two people CONS: - could be more in quantity to make it more shareable Fried chicken wings (my order): I ordered the combo so I could get the side of slaw but didn't necessarily crave the baked beans. It also comes with two pieces of toast. PROS: - crispy breading, slight heat but not enough to take the roof off your mouth off (there is also extra hot sauce at the table with honey provided upon request) - came out hot - good quantity for those who like wings (and only wings) CONS: - not quite shareable because it's only 3 wings for the plate. Fried Okra: a southern favorite! PROS: - fantastic quantity for sharing - cornmeal breading makes it crispy - came out hot - great with ranch dressing CONS: - none One of the things I also liked was their service. While it was during a weekday and during the lunch hour, we were still able to get almost a small room to ourselves! She even offered to do 50/50 sweet tea/unsweet tea when we were concerned with sweet tea being too sweet (some things can be broken in the south haha although it may be considered a cardinal sin by locals). I've eaten here a few times, but never left a review until I received such awesome service from Mark today! I placed a large order earlier today for my coworkers and myself. I added one ala-carte tender so my husband can try this delicious chicken! My extra tender mistakenly wasn't included in my lunch order, usually I wouldn't have even bothered with it, but business was slow at work, so I called to see if I could just get the charge for the tender put back on my card. I spoke to the manager Mark and he asked if I could come in later today so he could make it right by offering me a free meal for the inconvenience! Well I realized I was getting the best deal so I agreed. I popped in after work and Mark remembered me from our earlier conversation and had the kitchen cook me a few fresh new tenders! Everyone was so nice for the few minutes I waited, Mark had me have a seat and make myself comfortable in their cute and immaculately clean dining room and they got me a refill of their awesome sweet tea from my earlier order.
