I've taken three different cars here over the past two years. These guys are great. Their estimate process is the best I've ever experienced. My issues were clearly explained including photos, when applicable. Q: I've got a leak. A: Here's a photo of what's leaking. This is how we'll fix it. No crazy up charges for parts either. Confirmed Contradictory Diagnostics On Visit #1: Their invoice states the fuel and ignition systems were functional. The long-crank problem was supposedly "addressed." On Visit #2 (after I told them nothing was fixed): Their own technician documented: * "Fuel pump is weak." * "Fuel pressure bleeds down through injectors." In other words: They charged $182.50 for a diagnosis that not only failed but was directly contradicted by their own later report. This is not a misunderstanding. I had Gustafson re-paint the hood and roof on my F150 because the clear coat was going away. I have no complaints about the quality of the paint job. The reason for my three star rating is because the grill is attached to the hood on my truck. With the grill being made out of plastic and the fact that they did not detach the grill from the hood before removing the hood, when they set the hood down, it rested on the plastic grill and they broke it. The replacement grill cost me $900 bucks that I shouldn't have had to pay if they had been a little more careful. read more

Just had my car repaired at Gustafson's Brothers in Huntington Beach. Someone hit my car while I was at Stater Brothers. I had a $500 deductible and was in no hurry to get it fixed. Rae was my contact and kept me informed as to the repair progress. She called every day with updates and as promised I had my car back exactly 8 days later. As a single woman, walking into car shops can already feel intimidating and this place absolutely confirmed my worst fears. They quoted me $2,500 for work that two separate shops both quoted around $1,500 for the exact same repairs. That's not a small mistake -- that's a $1,000 attempt to take advantage of me. I'd also like to add that they told me they'd be doing a diagnostic on my car but never once clarified the cost. I was shocked when I got the bill and saw a $178 charge. For me, as a college student, that is a huge expense -- especially when I was never told up front. Yes, I can take accountability for not asking more questions, but the lack of transparency and integrity here is unacceptable. It is disgusting and predatory to exploit someone who just wants to get their car fixed safely and fairly. This is the only place I will ever take my cars as long as I live and they are open. This is the most professional, honest excellent auto repair facility in SOCAL. I went to Subaru on Beach Blvd and they told me it would over $5000.00 to do a 60,000 maintenance when my Subaru only has 41,000 miles on it. Then I went to Rallysport Engineering on Harbor who was awful and took a lot of money and did not use original Subaru parts like I asked. They also did not fix the original reason I went in which was sluggish acceleration. Lastly, I came here to Gustafson Brothers and they treated my car like it was one of their family member s and made it run brand new again.
