Absolutely awful experience from start to finish. When I first arrived, Mark was very unfriendly and short with me. I live down the street and my car was overheating on my way to work, so this was only option as I was desperate. My uncle, who lives over two hours away, gave me heads up about there being a likely coolant leak coming from the upper hose. I relayed this information to Mark and he said they would charge me a $150 inspection fee that would go toward the work being done. I agreed as I just wanted to know what was going on with my car. Mark calls me and confirmed that it was an upper hose coolant leak and that he could only get this hose from the dealership (lies). He quoted me $480, which is way overpriced. I called a different shop and they quoted me at $388, but it made no sense to go elsewhere because I still owed Mark $150 for the inspection fee. We go forward and he said he would receive the part the same day at 2pm and my car would be done at 5. I arrive to the shop at 5 and not only is my car not done, now they discover my temperature gage was broken which he charged me $125 for. He said my car would be done the next morning at 9. My car wasn't ready until 11am. I drive to work with no problems and no overheating which I was so relieved about. The next morning I come out to my car to go to work and see a path of coolant on the cement. I couldn't miss another day of work so I leave my car and get a ride to work cause the shop wasn't open yet. I call Mark and give him a heads up of what's going on and let him know I'll be there around 4 to drop off my car. I get off of work early and take my car to the shop and walk home. Mark calls me as I'm walking into my place and says there's nothing wrong with the car and it's residual coolant leakage mixed with condensation/water coming from the air conditioner that was collecting on the bottom shield cover of my car. He even took me back to where they looked at my car and mansplaned it to me. I rush back to his shop to get my car before they leave. The next morning I have the same exact leakage and wait until they're open to go back instead of going straight to work. Mark condescendingly explains the same thing and insists I'll be fine. I drive to my uncle's place for the weekend and my car starts to overheat while in on the highway. Thank God, I safely get to my uncles house and he does a REAL inspection and discovers they clamped the coolant hose on incorrectly (please see photo) and that's why it kept leaking. This awful establishment took advantage of me because I don't know about cars and didn't do their due diligence after over charging me and making me feel crazy for continuing to return after my car continued leaking coolant. I've done my fair share of oil changes I'm a blue collar man and am mechanically incline however my mother is old she went into bear automotive to get an oil change because they were close and didn't get terrible reviews however my elderly mother was charged $400 for an oil change that should've cost max $120 she drives a smaller car and on top of that they said she needs a new ball joints which I recently replaced and are in perfect working condition. They are out for money and trying to up charge people should not be trusted! read more

Bear automotive was awesome after I ran over a piece of wood on the freeway and tore the plastic off under my car so it was dragging. They replaced it (and fixed a few cosmetic issues also) at a reasonable price and I had my car back after a few days. The body-work specialist was easy to work with and did a Great job fixing some scratches and dings also. I always feel like my car is in good hands at Bear Automotive. We've been Bear Automotive customers for about 15 years now and I've sent many, many friends their way. They are VERY honest and reliable!!! we have taken our vehicles there multiple times thinking that this or that needed to be replaced or repaired only to have them call us and say that no it was not that that it was something much simpler. Most recently I had taken my Toyota RAV4 to the Huntington Beach Toyota dealership, the 50,000 mile service because I had a coupon.... upon arriving to pick up my car, they handed me a sheet that recommended all sorts of different things, including telling me that it was eminent and urgent that I get my front brakes replaced and the rear brakes would need replacing probably within the next 6 to 9 months. They said the front brakes were at 20% and the back brakes were 50%. Took my car to Bear automotive and told them I needed new brakes and they shook their heads- they were baffled. I had 65% pads on the front and 85% pads on the rear. Toyota lied through their teeth!!! Bear could have changed my brakes and charged me the $$$ for it- but instead they were super honest!!! read more

This is a great honest, reliable, and reasonable price to get your car worked on...The owner/manager will give you an estimate and if they find more issues with your car they call and let you know. I took my Lexus for an alignment to Lexus dealer, and cost me almost $3,000 when they found other issues on their computer. Being a widow women I paid. a few weeks later my light for oil change came on, so I took it to Bear auto, showed them my receipt from Lexus and they told me they added stuff I really did not need plus over charged me. I appreciate honesty. My oil change at Lexus is over $200, Bear charged me under $100..The whole team there has always been friendly and helpful.. hard to find great help like them. Took 2 of my vehicles to get new brake pads and what a nightmare. I had to bring both vehicles back multiple times because the brakes squeaked horribly after they worked on the cars. The issue never got fixed and I ended up going to another repair shop after paying well over a thousand dollars and paid even more money to have the job done right. WAY OVERPRICED!!!!! The service was horrible, they find every way to rip you off. Don't even waste your time they will tell you one price, then charge you another. I also had to go get my car fixed again after I brought it here and paid a lot of money. The workers are rude and have a bad attitude , especially Mark. I had two items that costs less than $10.00 each installed (price given in E-Bay for the same item) and cost me $166.00 plus tax plus installation. Now that is a total rip off. I would not recommend this establishment. I was looking for a new mechanic and had high hopes. I had work done on my car and a weeks later I heard rattling under my hood. I took my car and the owners son sitting at the front desk said there is no one there to look at it. So I had to take it somewhere else and found out it was a loose hose. They were the last that worked on my car. Very bad customer service! I also had my brakes done and they felt low. I called them and the owners son said I had to break the brakes in?? I still brought it in and asked them to look at it and found out they forgot to do something. Dangerous. I won't be going back. read more

Went in early am talked with Mark about diagnosing my car troubles. Mark acted as if he didn't want to bothered, he was distant, uncommunicative and arrogant. The only full sentence he spoke to me was... "pick it up at the end of the day, give me the keys" When I returned at 4:45 Mark told me I 'probably' need to rebuild my engine which would cost around $5,000 I told Mark to write me an invoice and I'll take my car home and make a decision later. After 10 mins Mark called my name for pickup and he didn't charge me a dime but he refused to give me an invoice showing what kind of inspection(s) they performed. *Wow, awesome right? The next day I took my car to another mechanic, he told me I needed an ICM/ignition control module and two coils which attach to the ICM. Total cost $437 My car now runs perfect. *Above I stated I returned to pickup my car at 4:45pm. Because I live two blocks away, at various times throughout the day I would drive by to see if my car had been pulled into shop. My car sat all day in their parking lot and at 4:30 I watched them pull my car into the shop from across the street at Albertsons. So when I came in at 4:45 they had less then 15mins to look at my car. Which means they did nothing, yet I'm told by Mark I need to rebuild my engine. This is why he didn't charge me dime and refused to give me an invoice. read more

I have a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado that decided to throw a main bearing, rod, or something in the bottom end due to the previous owners abuse and lack of care, rendering the current engine useless. (I am very familiar with engines, working on my own vehicles constantly, but this was out of my league) Sean called around for pricing a new engine for me and called me back within a few hours. An extra few hundred dollars bought me a brand new engine, as opposed to a refurbished option, with a 2 year warranty. I had my truck back in a week and a few days, and it currently runs like a top. I would not even give this place one star. We took our car in for a regular transmission maintenance and some shaking. They told us it was the motor mounts and the transmission mounts service the transmission. We paid them $1200. a week after we got the car, the car started jerking and shaking. I told my husband to check the transmission fluid. They never replaced the dipstick. When we took it back to them, they denied that anything was their responsibility at all. We have been going to this place for years and have loved them. They are now under new management and they are TERRIBLE and RUDE read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! Nothing but con artists and thiefs!!!! I took my car here because the check engine light was on (after having plugged it in to get the code myself). I let them convince me it was something else. To the tune of $600. The same problems continued to happen and the light came back on. Took it back to them to tell them they had not fixed the problem, and they tried to get me to fix 4 other things. At $1200. I plugged it back in and the original code came back, so I took it to ECONO LUBE one block down. They fixed the original problem (not the "other 4" ) for $200. My car runs great and the light has not come back on. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else instead. I recommend Econo Lube. Ask for Bruce. He won't try to f&@k you over. read more
