Car was all done and waiting for me when I arrived!
Shel G.

Really happy with the work done by HB Auto & AC. Needed new brakes on my Subaru Outback. Called for an estimate, pricing was fair and everything was explained. Brought my car in for an appointment and they were able to add on an oil change and take care of everything in just a few hours. Would highly recommend this shop for anyone needing work on their car, I'll be bringing all our cars in here whenever they need some work.

Since my truck was out of warranty, I wasn't sure where to turn. I reached out through Yelp and heard back from Ed almost immediately. He had a good idea of what might be wrong and invited me to bring the truck in for an assessment. After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. He walked me through everything clearly and provided a very reasonable estimate for a full rebuild. Throughout the entire process, Ed was easy to communicate with, always professional, and genuinely helpful with his advice. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond after the repair. I was told this type damage might be covered under my comprehensive auto insurance. Ed then took the time to work directly with my insurance company--providing detailed documentation and expert insight. Because of his effort and experience, the claim was approved and the repair ended up being fully covered. That level of service is rare these days. I truly appreciate Ed's honesty, professionalism, and follow-through. He did exactly what he said he would do and then some. I wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend him to anyone in need of transmission work.

I was on vacation 400 miles away from home when my van started bucking whenever I accelerated and…read moreslowed down. I was extremely stressed because dealing with vehicle problems was the last thing I wanted on my mind while trying to enjoy my vacation. I spent some time on Yelp reading reviews for several transmission shops before deciding to call Transmission Masters. One of the reasons I chose them was because they've been in business for more than 48 years and had consistently great reviews. I also like reading the one-star reviews because, let's be honest, you really can't please everyone. I just wanted to find an honest and trustworthy shop. I called and spoke with Ron right before closing time. He took the time to listen to everything I was experiencing, explained what he thought the issue could be, and told me to bring the van in the next morning. Their shop opens at 8:00 AM, but when I arrived around 7:45 AM, they were already there working on vehicles. When I walked in, Ron remembered our conversation from the previous day, which immediately made me feel comfortable. He scanned my van but didn't notice anything unusual. He reset my ECM and another setting, and thankfully that solved the problem. What impressed me the most was that Ron didn't charge me a dime for his time or help, even though I genuinely wanted to give him something for helping me out. I drove all the way from Disneyland back home to Northern California without a single issue afterward. Ron, if you happen to read Yelp reviews, I truly want to say THANK YOU for your time, honesty, and knowledge. You helped turn a very stressful situation into a positive experience, and I sincerely appreciate it.

I told Adrian Ciejka specifically what I needed done and informed him I had already replaced the filler tube O-ring, installed a Moroso transmission pan gasket, and replaced the speedometer gear and O-ring myself. The fluid visible on the inspection cover was clearly seepage from the accumulator O-ring -- exactly what I told him before he even looked at it. Instead of listening, he claimed the filler tube was also leaking and then told me the transmission would need to be dropped and the crossmember removed just to replace the accumulator O-ring. This is factually incorrect -- the accumulator on a TH350 transmission is accessible from the outside without dropping the transmission or removing the crossmember. Either he doesn't know basic transmission repair on a common GM unit, or he was deliberately misleading me to justify a full reseal at $400+. When I declined and asked to pick up my car, he charged me $180 just to remove an inspection cover -- a 10 minute job with no upfront disclosure of the diagnostic fee and no discussion of cost before proceeding. To make it worse, I dropped the car off with the transmission fluid low and picked it up overfilled by half a quart. An overfilled transmission leaks more visibly -- a well known trick used by dishonest shops to justify expensive repairs the customer doesn't need. I paid $60 in Lyft fees to get there and back, $180 for nothing, and left with my car unrepaired and the fluid level tampered with. Classic car owners beware. This shop does not listen to the customer, fabricates unnecessary repairs, and will upsell you on work you don't need. Find someone honest who will do the job you ask for. This is not that shop.

Then telling me it would take over $5000 more to do the repair. Total repair bill was $6950. Absolutely ridiculous. After paying the initial diagnosis fee, I was stuck with them because after speaking with other transmission shops, it was gonna cost about the same at this point. I went to the shop on the advice of my normal mechanic that I trust. I did go talk to three other shops after I found out it was gonna be $7000 and the other three were competitively priced and all right at about $5000 including diagnosis. That was if it had to have every single thing rebuilt. I also found out I could've had a factory rebuilt Ford transmission installed by my normal mechanic for less money. That would've had a 3 year warranty and would've been honored at any Ford dealer. HP transmission only has a two-year warranty. They completely overcharged me. The transmission does work as it should now.

I then mentioned my problem was I had to warm up my truck for 15 minutes and then she would be good to drive. Having to do this every time I had to go to work or after work I'd sit there for a while was becoming annoying. Bill kept the truck for over night to see how she would run in morning. . Bill drove her and he expierenced the same thing I did. Sure enough it was the transmission. I took her home and drove it about a week so I could notify work. It was going to cost me 4,800.00 for a rebuilt 3 year warranty. Bill called and said there was another piece that needed repairing so I paid a little over $5.000. All in all I liked the fact Bill had my truck ready in 4 days was fantastic he originally quoted me 5 days. I had the best quality care for my vehicle. Bill was very professional.

About a week later, I was able to bring it by and he did a great job of performing my much needed 60k mile maintenance. His shop is small but Ken is easy to deal with and quite trustworthy. The other reviews online tell a similar story. Avoiding the costly dealership is a must for a car owner. Finding a mechanic you can trust and rely on is as important as a good dentist or plumber. Add them to the Rolodex and stop worrying. Cars still need work sometimes but you have peace of mind.
