Wow, first thank you Yelp for being a site where you can turn to for referrals. Now let me tell you my AC stopped working in my 2017 Escalade. After reviewing a few companies on Yelp, I felt the need to call. Francisco answered the phone and listened to what I was experiencing with the AC. I booked an appointment for the next morning. The shop was busy and I waited my turn in line. A few of the customers that I saw coming in had been in before for other reasons and obviously had a positive experience because they felt like they knew Alba and Francisco really well and trusted the team. Within a few minutes, my car was being looked at. I took a walk around the park, which is very close by and came back in 30 minutes and they assessed that I need a new compressor. Luckily, before I got back, Alba had already ordered it, and it was on its way taking about 30 minutes to get there. A price was quoted, and it was fair and reasonable. Because it was gonna take a few hours, my wife picked me up and we ran some errands. I received a call and it was from Alba around noon. He said they installed the new one and took it for a test drive. It worked good for a few minutes then stopped. He assess the problems already ordered a new one and said he'll have it done before the end of the day. I received a call around three saying the car will be done by four so at 3:30 I headed to the shop. The car was waiting for me out front. Alba took the time to explain what it happened. He also went above and changed many of the fittings as he seen problems with them before. He even changed one of the belts that control the compressor at no charge. Alba and his team are truly a rare find. Noticing all the workers were always engaged and working. They really have a good team. Well, in the lobby, there was a sign on the wall I read I wish I took a picture of it, but I didn't. It spoke to listen to the customer write down the problem. Assess the situation and determine the solution and communication with the customer. You can tell that this establishment embodies that culture. They do more than just AC as I heard other people were in there for brakes and other things. I definitely will recommend this company to my friends and family. This is an honest Repair shop that goes above and beyond. And towards the end, I realized they were AAA approved. read more

After I dropped off my vehicle, I received a call from an employee named Alba informing me that the price had increased to $756. When I politely asked why the quote had nearly doubled, instead of receiving an explanation, the conversation became hostile. I told him that the new price was not what I had been quoted over the phone and that I felt I had been misled. He responded by saying, "There's no crime in lying. Where's the law about lying?" He then told me to "pick up your car and get the f*** out of here." When I told him that his language and behavior were rude and unprofessional, he replied that I was displaying "typical California shit" and again told me to "get the F out of here." What disappointed me most is that I wasn't upset simply because the price changed. I understand that estimates sometimes change if additional work is required. I have gotten service at this location several times now. My Subaru Forester need the brake pads (as well as the struts) replaced due to wear/corrosion and when there was some squeaking happening after that was done, they took my car in for go-back appointments to rectify this issue. Alba is absolutely fantastic with customer service and his candor goes a long way. I just know the high stress situations involving deadlines and talking to customers who's livelihoods (and a lot of the times is their only form of transportation) are wrapped up in the services he needs to explain cannot be easy to deal with, yet he does so anyways with poise and grace. Honest & fair! Most places I've taken my car to assume that I don't know much about cars because I'm a woman. Just a follow up. Unfortunately a couple of weeks later after getting my car serviced. The engine light came right back on not to worry I was on my way coming back from Riverside on the way back. I was advised to bring the car by. I'm at a convenient time which I did unfortunately they had to keep the truck. It was something to do with a faulty. I'm oil pump on the car thank the Lord for warranties on the part. I am absolutely blown away by the service at HB Auto & AC. I brought in my 2015 Hyundai Sonata because the AC was blowing warm air. I had a diagnostic done elsewhere previously, but I completely forgot to mention it to them. Within a few hours, they called me. Not only had they found the issue, but they had pinpointed the exact problem I had suspected. Here's where it gets incredible. I explained that I didn't have the funds for the repair at that moment. Alba told me that as long as I could pay by the end of the week, he would go ahead and do the repairs so I could have my car back, and that a loaner car would be provided. I was completely floored by this exceptional customer service. It's rare to find a business that trusts its customers like that. Not only did they fix the AC issue, but they went above and beyond. They performed a few other services for me that I wasn't even aware were needed. If you are into reading reviews, you will notice that every bad experience someone has had with this shop was with Dallas, who is a piece of work. My encounter with Dallas began with him boasting about how he is an engineer, a certified mechanic, and how he's the only game in town when it comes to servicing Tesla's. He went on to saying how Tesla would only sell parts to certain shops, and he's the only game in town, etc... I'm sure you get the gist of the usual sales talk. I own a 2016 Tesla Model S and my AC stopped working. Instead of taking it to Tesla, I decided to give these guys a try based on my initial conversation with him and the fact that he quoted me half the price that Tesla originally quoted. Being that the savings was equivalent to 2 months of disposable income for me, I went ahead with the service. Boy was I in for a surprise. Initially Dallas had told me something was wrong with it. Then when I called back, something else was wrong with it. Not having the proper diagnostic tools or knowledge about Teslas, it seemed like he was figuring out things as he went along. Initially he told me he'd need X day, to finish the car. Then something else went wrong and he needed to order parts, but he claims that Tesla only ships parts, they don't have tracking as to when the parts will arrive, so we're clueless when it will come, if it in fact will come at all. Can you believe that? At one point he even asked for my tesla username and password and responded to inquiries in a shady suspicious way. It almost seems like every time he called, something else was wrong with the car. It got to the point where he called to report a broken body parts that he didn't see was broken originally. He assured me with "don't worry about it, I'll just charge you for the parts, not the labor." Clearly we know who broke them. Being concerned, I visited the shop unannounced to find someone else working on the car, the car's trunk and interior completely apart, everything was everywhere as if someone was having an experiment with my car. After weeks of not having the car, I asked to get the car back to take it to Tesla and the heat began. He started talking about how I neglected to service the car which caused all the issues he ran into and that he's never worked with a customer so impatient etc... LOL super comical now that I'm thinking about it. I said whatever man, just give me the car back. Well guess what?? I wasn't going to get my car back without paying their bill, which was 50% more than his original quote due to unforeseen items. I asked him "well, is the car fixed?" Then after a few exchanges of words, he shoved me outside his shop and locked the door on me with my car inside the closed gate. I was actually dumbfounded by the level of stupidity and recklessness this man possessed in treating a customer. I ended up calling HBPD to assist with retrieving the car. I explained I'm happy to pay for the service if I could just get into my vehicle to test if the services rendered cured my issues. They wouldn't let me come near the car. Here they were, forcefully impounding my car until I paid them their bill. After a ton of back and forth, while HBPD wasn't able to make them release the car, they agreed to lower the bill to a more tolerable amount which I ended up paying because I needed to get on with my life and needed my car to go to job sites for work. When I got into the car to drive off, my key didn't work. The very key that I used to drive the car there was now un-paired from the car because they had to do a hard reset, but was not able to pair it back as they lacked the tool to do so (as explained by a Tesla tech later on.) This was only the beginning of the night mare which ensued but I'm sure you're tired of reading a single review by now. Let's just say they trashed my car, I'm missing parts in my front bumper, they ruined my heating/cooling control module so I no longer can charge at a supercharger (previous to visiting them, I was able to charge at a supercharger fine). This forced me to only be able to charge at home which limited my daily range, and since I drive from jobsites to jobsites, this hindered my work terribly. To date, about 2-3 months from my visit, I am still without AC because while my wiring loom was fine when I brought the car to HB Auto, when Tesla diagnosed it the day I got the car back from HB Auto, the wire loom was burned and of course, it is back-ordered from Tesla. HB Auto never diagnosed a burned wire loom or mention of anything close to that in any of the multiple interactions with them. So I know this happened while in HB Auto's possession. I drove straight from HB Auto to Tesla the minute I got my car back from them. Sadly I wish I can say this is the end, but I'm still waiting for a new wire loom from Tesla. He was very busy, still made me feel like my car was most important vehicle there: He assured me that he would get to me asap. After he diagnosed my car, he explained cost and time it would take to complete the job: At that point, he would not be able to complete the job until the next day. Since I live in Los Angeles and it would take him a day before he'd be able to complete the repair.. After I accepted the repair cost He offered me a FREE loaner car. I hope he doesn't get in trouble. But after picking up my car and heading home I noticed Dallas had installed new windshield wipers, two front and one on the rear. He also washed my car. I brought a 2014 Toyota Tacoma in for a pre-purchase inspection that I was considering buying from a nearby dealer in Huntington Beach for my daughter's 16th birthday. Am I ever glad that I brought the vehicle to HB Auto & AC for the PPI. Alba was a total professional from the very first interaction. They put the truck up on a lift and spent over an hour doing a detailed inspection, even bringing me into the service bay to show me their findings. Alba followed this up by sending me a text link to their 65 point inspection. What I thought was a clean truck with an impeccable Carfax service history revealed 13 different items that needed to be addressed - 4 of which needed to be addressed urgently. I had just bought a '91 Celica and the A/C line had a leak and found out that the previous owner(s) had used the wrong gasket for the line. They were able to fix it for me at a fair price. They got my cool temp down to 67 degrees. They also did a compression test and found that I also need a new AC compressor; which I suspected as it makes a loud noise on cold start up, and the cool temp is slowly going up. Along with the compressor is a drier and expansion valve. I got this service about 2 months ago and the A/C served me well through the end of the heat wave. I will definitely be back for the compressor, drier, and valve once the weather starts getting warmer again. I have used this shop over the years (10 or more) so I took it to them for a simple Oil change on 4/27/2023. At the time there was new guy working the front of the shop later I learned his name was Dallas. I waited for the service that day and after the service was presented with a bill for $99.80 I as shocked as the last several services were done with the same brand of oil (mobil 1) for under $60.00. He also presented be with a list of recommended repairs, but no work order, for 7 items and said the cost estimate was $3000. No you have to keep in mind we are talking about a 1999 Mustang that isn't even worth that amount on the open market today. Dallas immediately without a prompt from me said he could discount that number to $2500 for me. Then he went on the explain that the only way he could offer that price was if he sourced the parts off the owners accounts and that would require a cash payment. I got the feeling he was trying to personally pocket the money for the job and keep it off the books. I paid the bill and told him I would think about which I did. Even though I has miss giving about how he presented the "deal" to me after giving it thought and knowing I had had work done at the shop be for and was satisfied I decided to get the work done. On 6/6/2023 I went by the shop to finalize the work to be done and get a solid estimate. I sat with Dallas again, he was happy I brought the original piece of paper with the work he had suggested because he didn't remember. At that time I reconfirmed verbally the estimate of $2500 for the list of seven repairs to be made. When I asked when would be a good time to drop the car off, hoping he would order the parts and have them ready to install before I had to leave the car as it is my only transportation. Dallas ten said his main tech was just finishing a job and would have time to start on my car right away and suggested I leave the car right then and offered me a loaner car. Because I had the offer of a loaner (free) I left the car with a incomplete work order that only said Check Clutch. When I questioned Dallas about not providing a complete work order for me to sign and approve he stated that he wanted to have the tech go over the car again to make sure there was nothing else that needed attention.He also said he could email me the complete estimate before days end. I thought that was not right as I know that repair shops need to get a signed work-order before starting any work on the car. But felt ok because of my previous experience with the shop and I had spoken with the owner Chris that day. Well I should have followed my gut feeling because I never got a complete Told I was there to pick the car up but I noticed it was still up on the service rack. He checked with the tech who said they were bleeding the brakes ( there was suppose to be a complete brake system flush) as part of the work to be done. While I waited Chris and I sat in the office and had a long chat about how his business was going and the issues he was having getting the shop up to speed where he was booking enough hours per day. Given my background in management I offered a few suggestions he seemed to like and he even asked me what I thought he would have to pay for a person to come on board to do the tasks I suggested. We talked about that a bit it almost felt like he would offer the job to me so I told I was retired and had a aged father to take care and didn't have the time. During the conversation with Chris I had mentioned I never got a complete work order, his face looked like "ph no not again" I even said isn't that was is suppose to happen, he said reluctantly "usually". Before the car was done Dallas returned and Chris told me to work it out with Dallas who looked like oh no he has been talking with the boss. Dallas immediately became confrontational as I mentioned again he had never provided a complete work order and I wanted one. We went around and around he was acting in a very treating manner, I didn't back down. It ended when he locked me out the parking area by pulling their gate and locking it. He told be he would not release my car now until I paid him $4500, a full $2000 more than the original verbal estimate and it had to be in cash. I was left stranded and had to call a friend to come pick me up. I was ready to tell him release the car for the original estimate and not in cash or they got keep the car as it was not worth $4500 to me. I came home made a few calls to get a ride and arrange to borrow a car until I got this all worked out. While on the phone to arrange all this I saw call come in from the this shop, didn't answer it. After I finished my call I noticed a voice message, it was from Dallas telling me he was parking my car outside the gate and that he was taking the $2650 bill out of his pocket, right! At this point I don't know what changed his mind, I suspect the owner told him not to go down that road. read more
