I just ordered takeout from here because I was craving some good Hispanic comfort food for dinner. Delivery arrived 10 min earlier than expected which was a huge plus. I ordered the pernil (pork) with several sides- macaroni and cheese, sweet plantains, white rice, red beans, and a salad. My total came to just under $20 (including tax and delivery fee). When I tell you...you WILL get your money's worth here. The only reason I ordered so many sides to begin with is because it's so affordable, I decided to get a sampling of a few different things. I have plenty of leftovers to spare. Everything was flavorful and my stomach is quite full. They give you a generous portion of pernil which was tender and juicy, the salad doesn't come with dressing (which I didn't need/want), the plantains were scrumptious, the Mac and cheese was decadent...I was only able to eat a few bites because it was so rich, and the beans and rice were good too. Overall I'm more than satisfied with my order and will be eating from here again.

2 burnt potato balls and yuca

Recently moved to the area so it's my first time ordering from here and must say very disappointed I ordered chicken breast and they sent chicken soup (see pic) the guy had the nerve to tell me that's their version of boneless chicken breast. I ordered Dominican cake they sent chocolate cake claiming they "tried" calling me bs. I ordered potato balls and yuca (see pics) totally disgusted with the food and customer service (the guy hung up on me mid sentence and I wasn't even being rude)It's a shame that restaurants keep getting away with high priced lousy food.so I hope my review helps someone else. Anyway I would never recommend this place to anyone but I thank Grubhub for refunding my money.

Right after that phone call I called the restaurant and told them what happened
    Lisa J.

They told Grubhub that I took the food and lied about what happened.Horrible business especially being the owner and explaining to what happened with the driver he advised me to call Grubhub and that he would approve the refund. If you type in the address that I put to deliver it clearly shows a red house with a gate but the driver said he was at a White House with no gate.I was on the phone with the driver for 7 minutes while he went back to the wrong address and got the food back from the people he gave it to and then wanted to deliver it to me and that is very unsanitary that's why I called the restaurant but management handled the situation in a horrible way by saying he will approve the refund but then lie and say that he gave me the food when Grub Hub called to confirm my story

Horrible! Not even half a container for $5. Literally one spoon scoop.

I truly wish I could give zero stars. I ordered this weekend (first time). The online menu was ok, typical choices and no serious thought required. But then the order arrived. The delivery driver called and did not speak enough English for me to understand anything. At the very least, I heard "Gusto" and knew it was my order. I went to the front door and he was in his car! Did not get out at all. I had to walk up to the car to retrieve my order. Once inside, I quickly realized a big issue. The Octopus salad was $5 on the menu. I will post the picture in the gallery. The amount of salad was literally a spoonful. It didn't even fill half the container. I promptly called and the young lady on the other end, after I explained there was only a spoonful in the container, had the audacity to laugh. She proceeded to say that it what you get for $5. I told her any Spanish restaurant in the area, including Bayonne at least filled the container half way. She offered no alternatives or extra service. Only one quasi-action. She said she will tell the owner about it. This was already a bad experience. I sat down to eat my pork shoulder (pernil) and sweet plantains (maduros). Talk about bland! I was in awe that this food was coming from a Spanish restaurant! I ate about half and could not take it anymore. Into the trash it went. The peanut butter and jelly sandwich I made afterwards was far more rewarding than the meal that cost approx. $17.50 total. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT waste your money at this place.

Yummy food! Even though they forgot one my Maduros! I still enjoyed the pork with rice and beef soup! We will be ordering here again!

Prices seem to always fluctuate. $10 for a regular side of red beans is a bit excessive.

Very flavorful pork with crispy skin. Not at all dry. Good roast chicken too. If it were closer I'd go here more often

Since we were big fans of those alcohols, we decided to check it out. The walls of the space were covered in colorful murals with Latin American imagery. There were banquettes along either wall with small tables and ottomans scattered in front of them, providing separate, little areas for each group. Large playing cards were fanned across each table with Jack, Queen, King, and Ace cards each having a menu on its backside. There were bar bites, a spirits list, classic cocktails that could be reimaged with your agave spirit of choice (picture a tequila mojito), and even a custom beverages. The creative drinks were not cheap, coming in at around $20 on average, but they certainly were complex! My La Balacara featured Casamigos Mezcal, spiced pear, Luxardo, orange, ginger, chestnut honey, and a chili tincture. I thought the drink sounded outrageous, but, sadly, all I tasted was that honey, the ingredient of which I was least interested. In fact, the smokiness of the mezcal really did not play well with the chestnut honey, leaving it to taste sort of like licorice. I was not a fan. My companion's El Encanto included Casamigos Cristalino, Lillet Blanc, strawberry-lemongrass cordial, guava, and basil, which sounded herbaceous, but really just tasted like a fancy daiquiri. He enjoyed it, but I found it unimpressive. Our drinks were accompanied by a complementary bowl of spiced popcorn, which was delicious. We had come from an earlier dinner, so the snack was as much as I needed. However, the few larger food items that I saw others order all looked great. While I would go back to Perico to try some other items, I felt like I had had better, more affordable cocktails upstairs at Panela.

In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, I made my way to Noches de Colombia. Established by a family who migrated to the United States in 1997, their small test American dream project in New Jersey came to life. They realized that variety of food and love were the keys to a quality restaurant experience. The restaurant was the ideal hang-out for the local community and offered the perfect combination of music, conversation and TVs for the quintessential soccer fans around the world. As this was right next to "squirrel park" where the lil black beast loved to take walks, I constantly saw this business. Would I plan to share "futuro noches con comida de Colombia" with my friend!? PURCHASE Filete Empanizado w/2 Sides Frijoles Negros & Arroz Amarillo ($18.75): A ginormous piece of thick fish folded in half to fit the takeaway container, this was perfectly deep-fried while the inside meat was steamy and supple, it was served on a bed of hearty potatoes-au-gratin. The sides were homemade, flavorful, and enough as a meal on their own. The portion sizes were off the charts and provided for multiple meals. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=juHQRjwkcffynHUk-v61qA New York Steak Con Camarones w/2 Sides Frijoles Negros & Arroz Amarillo ($28.03): A little surf-n-turf action, it was a huge slab of medium-cooked meat with a nice outside crusting and moist inside on a bed of various veggies along with a handful of medium-sized plump shrimp. They easily took our walk-up order, the entrees took about 15 minutes while the desserts/pastries were immediately available. Unfortunately, the personalities of the staffers weren't the friendliest, so don't be offended - gracias. PARKING (Street; N/A this instance) This was an easy flat 10-minute walk from my friend's place. Otherwise, the only option was the plenty of spots along the main drag of Central Ave. and all surrounding roads - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A tidy interior layout with display/order counters at the entrance, a quaint bar area, and the rest of the floorplan covered with booths/tables. Colorful paint and pictures covered the walls. Decent natural lighting came through the many windows and doors while electric recessed ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several TVs at the bar while music (and TV volume) played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=Mjuiz-_VduPLwL3kUb1wZQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Noches de Colombia's Jersey Heights location was awesome and would definitely return! From large portions, tasty food, reasonable prices, varied menu, and the service was efficient. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible (regional in this case). I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $90.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
