Great service and great food! We rolled up to the drive through pretty late but the woman that took our order was absolutely precious. She was upbeat and so sweet. She made us feel like she truly wanted us there and was happy to see us. We ordered two boxes and some drinks. We did wind up waiting a little while but she told us they were dropping fresh chicken and fries for us. I do not mind waiting on fresh food. A guy actually startled me, walking up between my car and the window but the cashier handled him with a smile on her face and got him to go back to his car. Apparently he had placed a mobile order and was wondering why he didn't have food yet. They were cooking his fresh, too. We noticed the drive through and the area outside the store was clean and well maintained while we waited. Our food was delicious. The chicken and fries were cooked to golden perfection. This seems to be a newer location on Hwy 280. I decided to stop here for a quick lunch after leaving my nephew's soccer game. It wasn't busy so I ordered quickly. The box with bbq sauce is my go to. I do nooooooot like Guthrie sauce. Yuck! My food was hot and definitely fresh. Dining in was cool and they even have TVs. I loved the decor. Since I am a Guthrie's fan , I'm sure I'll be back. Wow! I am in aw of this place. This was hands down the greatest chicken sandwich I've ever had! I love the golden crispy chicken and the lettuce was the perfect crunch. Oh my, it was such a delight to see there is a new Guthrie's location on Hwy 280. I remember when there was a location there years ago. I wanted a chicken sandwich and once I saw I was only a few minutes away, off to order that chicken sandwich! This was a drive-thru order and as I proceeded to order the sandwich with a side of fries, the young man asked if I would like the combo that included a soda. Lady with glasses and walkie talkie around 3:50 pm (older probably a manager) on Thursday April 17th was incredibly rude to me even after I offered to move my vehicle she said not to and insisted I wait patiently on her even though my carry out order was not even packed up yet. She was walking around looking outside the window instead of getting the carry out meal ready. She made a scene so much so as I was polite and quiet so much so that I will not be back. Even the drive thru gentleman stopped what he was doing to check on me as she got snappy. She was entirely too stern with a customer. Let me preface that I love chicken fingers and I love guthries so I'm very excited to see that they're expanding across Birmingham again! It's great to have them back on 280. I've visited this location twice now. The first time I visited, which was a day or so after they opened, the drive thru line was long but moved fairly quickly. When I made it to the menu board to order, I was surprised to see that they were charging $10.45 for a box. I know that the prices have gone up on everything, but this may be the highest price for a box that I've seen at local Guthrie's locations. With that in mind, I was hoping and expecting to have reasonably sized tenders. So I was disappointed when I received tenders that were basically slightly oversized nuggets. They tasted great and they were fresh, just tiny as all get out. The rest of the box items (fries and toast) were fresh and yummy too. But because the tenders were tiny, I wasn't happy with the meal. But I love guthries so I decided to stop by since I'd be driving past them to head home--have I mentioned that I'm excited about them expanding! There was only one car in front of me in the drive thru line, and again they moved fast. Value (what I receive vs. what I pay) is important to me so the second visit was a vast improvement from the first. They gave me appropriately sized tenders! Hooray! And again the food was hot and fresh (except for my toast - it was old and didn't have the garlic seasoning that I speculate they add). The experiences are trending up so I give them 4 stars. If they can consistently provide good portions and fresh, tasty food, I know they will be here to stay. read more

I will say that this Guthrie's was great until a recent visit. We frequent them often for late night to go orders and the service is friendly and food is typically always fresh, hot and delicious. Our last visit tasted like old grease and the fries were undercooked so we called (no one answered). Naturally we followed up the next morning. A young lady answered the phone. We let them know that we frequent this location - everything is typically great, however, this visit was a one off. She immediately became combative and kept mentioning that the food is not going to taste the same 5-10 minutes down the road. Mind you we always travel 5-10 minutes and have never had an issue so what she stated is both false and irrelevant. Eventually she agreed to have our items remade. Once arriving to the store the GM immediately comes out with a phone demanding the name for the order and the time that we called. It was a drive thru order. No names are given for those. Happliy provided our receipt. Did not bother to provide any further information or entertain him. He then stated "people always try to pull this, but never have proof of purchase". Again, the receipt was provided, therefore, your issue is again irrelevant. An individual who was the owner (Tommy or Timothy) gave us our food and informed us the food will not taste the same 5-10 minutes down the road. Please make note: Apparently you should not eat here if you are not eating inside or in your car in the parking lot. Of course, the food was delicious as it typically is 5-10 minutes down the road. Don't let this establishment know that though, since their quality is clearly too poor to uphold a travel time of anything past 5 minutes. Needless to say, I'm shocked that management and the owner acted in such an unprofessional manner. We've eaten here over 20 times since they opened and had an issue only once. This one time is enough of a turn off to no longer support this store. I managed restaurants for years. I wouldn't even dream of having an interaction like this with any of my customers. Everyone clearly is not equipped to work in this field and it shows more and more post pandemic. read more

I am a huge fan of Guthrie's fried chicken and have been for a bit, the food is always hot and delicious and the service is indicative of southern hospitality as the employees always have a smile on their faces. I order a box every time with a large Coke and while they are a bit skimpy at times with the fries the food is still nonetheless, delicious. As a drive-through spot, I do not have to worry about being in a loud sit-down area like at other fast food places and I believe this allows for the service to be quicker. I ordered my food for dine-in. The service was very good and fast. The lady who took my order was super sweet and friendly. They brought our food to the table and offered extra sauces and napkins. I went to Guthries because I used to live in Mobile Alabama and would always get Foosackly's. I wanted to try something similar and luckily they were. Since COVID-19, Guthries offers hand sanitizer and wipes down the tables each use. Overall, the staff were very kind and friendly and the food was amazing. When I approached the window I rolled mine down and said "hello" she completely ignored me and said "$11.39" she took my card, swiped it, then proceeded to having a conversation with her coworkers. Saw this sign that said Guthries by my hotel at night and it was dinner time so I stopped in and checked it out. First if the line action was closing in 10 minutes so I was still able to go through drive through. I was disappointed at first since the automated system came out saying that they were closed. As I was driving off a voice came out and I quickly reversed and they took my order. I for the tender sandwich, now the reviews stated some things like "better than raising canes". I have to day it does give raising canes a fight, the sauce wich is somewhat similar is yet different and thin. Did I like it? Yes, I did and it was good. Definitely a good choice. Food is just okay. Crinkle cut fries with no seasoning aren't special. The tenders are as good as Zaxbys or Cains. The stars are because the man who took and gave us our order was very nice. But there's no children's menu, we were told the snack is the children's menu. Stopped here for the first time since opening when I got off of work today! The drive through line was pretty long so I went inside to order instead because I wanted to give it a try. Upon entering no one greeted me and the screen with the menu wasn't even on. I walked up on a menu someone previously left that was laying on the counter and ordered from it instead. The little gal that was helping an older gentleman ahead of me already had a stank attitude with him so I already knew I was getting the same poor customer service.
