She was efficient, checked up on us, kept our drinks full and even showed how considerate she is. We had first eaten from a location in Atlanta via DoorDash but had yet to try this location out in person. We ate here one fine Sunday morning. It was packed and there was a wait. After being seated, I noticed how colorful and whimsical the decor was. But because it was so crowded, I didn't get a lot of pictures. I ordered the garden veggie scramble with the moon dusted potatoes and a side of beyond sausage. My guy ordered the waffle breakfast. The food was just as delicious as we remembered it to be. The star is always those creamy grits. I'm not sure how they make them, but I wish they would tell me their secret. The biscuits are always light and fluffy, and with the apple butter that comes with it, it's a match made in heaven. Pro Tip: I've ordered food from here courtesy of DoorDash but it's always been a disaster. The order was always missing random items or I received the wrong order. I come here often and usually order the Biscuit, Eggs and Gravy, it's a chicken sausage gravy over an egg on a biscuit and it's wonderful. Very flavorful gravy! I often got it with scrambled eggs until I had a waiter suggest eggs over medium. The slightly runny eggs mix with the gravy wonderfully, held up by the fluffy biscuit. It's an amazing meal. The meal comes with a side of cheese grits which are superb, I'm not a huge fan of grits unless they are creamy and have a taste beyond simple corn, and these cheese grits nail it. read more

I have been to the Shops in the Colonnade a few times, but if you're not in the same "section", you would miss them and that's exactly what happened to me. I've always been on the "Edgars" side and I never "saw" them. Started in 1993 in Georgia, now they have 34 franchised locations throughout Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Texas. I love the look of the FBC. The painted murals on their wall (featuring Birmingham) is stunning and eye-catching! Applause for the creator! I'm not sure if they have seating outside, but inside there's roomy seating with high ceilings and ceiling fans. Open for breakfast and late lunch, we were seated quickly and drink orders taken. With their extensive menu selection, they could easily open for dinner in my opinion. Don't let them fool you into thinking they're just a breakfast place. In addition to their awesome "breakfast" items, they also have plenty of lunch items like chicken tender concoctions and burger specials. You gotta go online or look at my pics of their menu to see just how many different delicious options to choose from. I finally decided on the Dirty Bird. The large home made waffle was cooked perfectly. On top of it were crispy buttermilk fried chicken tenders. On top of those were two over medium eggs and on top of them was a slather of their famous chicken sausage gravy. Yom Yom Yom Yom! I couldn't finish it and gladly took the rest home. Ending shift on a very happy Monday morning, I finally got to drop into try The Flying Biscuit Cafe. It was Exceptional! Around 0800 on Monday there was no wait to be seated or for service. Withing 5 minutes of ordering, the food arrived at the table and the waitress was attentive, topping the coffee off at least 3 times. The highlight of The Flying Biscuit Cafe is definitely in the number of unique menu items to choose from. They offer selections that aren't common at other breakfast establishments. In example, what i ordered was a standard biscuit and gray that was elevated with a fried egg and a piece of fried chicken on each half of the biscuit. It was absolutely delicious. What a good brunch! We tried this place, as we are passing through and knew we are getting one. Hubs had a smoked salmon scrambler with a dill cream cheese, and a side of potatoes. He added a biscuit with cranberry apple butter and hollandaise on the side. One negative the hollandaise was not good. Had he ordered the Benedict I would have had a different rating. As it is an add on, we are writing it off. The hot dirty bird chicken and waffles hit. I did ask for the hot sauce to be ok the side so I could control how hot, and the egg, I was skeptical about chicken sausage gravy, so I sampled it before. Wow. It is the best chicken sausage gravy I have ever had. I almost ordered differently because of the past ones I have had before. The building decor is great. Our server, Jacquie was phenomenal. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict and it was pretty disappointing. The "smoked salmon" was artificially colored pink cubes that tasted only like tuna, or generic "fish." Nary a smoked nor a salmon flavor therein. You can buy a higher quality packet of smoked salmon from Walmart for $5.83. I can't comment on the Hollandaise sauce, because I couldn't taste it over the tuna fish. The poached egg was a shade above raw; I don't mind eating raw eggs, but it didn't hold up in the dish because the center wasn't jelly/gummy. It exploded in wet yolk as soon as the fork touched it and soaked the English muffin halves into soggy oblivion. I substituted potato for the grits and they were clearly frozen potato cubes warmed up. I didn't know what to expect from here, but for a sit-down restaurant that usually has a wait time, the food was worse than McDonalds, where you can at least get a properly cooked egg. The hostess and waitress were polite, but I was approached by a busser attempting to take my plate of unfinished food while I was still eating! I definitely won't be back. read more

I chose double cheeseburger, spouse chose BLT, it Was deemed "decent"; he did clean his plate lol. My cheeseburger was delicious, cooked perfectly medium as requested.
