The ambiance is like an old cabin feel, almost which I liked. I was a little concerned at first as it took a bit longer to be seated than it should have and then my waitress took a minute to get over to the table for my drink order. That was the end of my worries with the wait staff, everything was great after that. I had a house salad with honey mustard and the salad had peas in it, which I'm a fan of. The waitress brought over a couple of rolls which turned out to taste much better than they looked. I had the Bone-in Ribeye with a baked potato. The potato was a bit on the smallish side compared to what you normally get with a steak. It was cooked perfectly, a little char on the outside but medium rare on the inside, just like I asked for. We had dinner at Guthrie's and enjoyed the view on the back patio where we were able to sit with our 2 small dogs. I asked for a wine list 3 times and when it was finally brought to the table our waitress stood over my shoulder hurrying me to make a selection so I ordered as quickly as I could. I ordered the 5oz filet with a baked potato and liked that they offered some smaller meal options. The steak was prepared perfectly and was very flavorful. My husband ordered his meal and asked to sub the side for fries... we ate our meals and he never got the fries and we didn't see our waitress the entire time to ask for them. When she eventually came by she asked if we still wanted them and brought them at his request. Overall the food was good and the patio was nice but the service was really lacking especially for the price of the food. Not sure if we will go back in the future. read more

A very simple place. I sort of expected something a little newer but don't be fooled. The service and food were both very good. I ordered the bourbon bacon burger which was cooked a little over temp but it had really good flavor. Definitely get it with cheese! The sweet potato fries were crisp and mildly sweet. They needed something, maybe salt? My friend ordered the lasagna which we both liked but we could have used more cheese along the cut edges. Creme brulee was as expected and the raspberry cake was good but on the dry side. I'd recommend trying the creme brulee before the raspberry cake. Forgot to take a picture of the fries ravioli but it almost seemed like it was fried wonton wrappers with a feeling. I'd pass on trying these. We went here for an event and it was a lot of fun having the back patio outside reserved for us all to mingle and grab a quick bite. Disappointing. Their food just wasn't good and neither was the service. The one positive is that it's a cute place. They have a ton of tables outside- though strangely the patio wasn't clean so they weren't sitting anyone out there. I ordered a wedge salad and Buffalo flatbread with extra chicken ($3 up-charge). The view is wonderful here! I remember this place when it was the Lakeview restaurant. We finally went when we were in town. I had chopped steak and hubby the filet . There was a small oops on his order he was given a chopped steak but they fixed it and even took it off the bill. The char on our meat was fabulous! Went for lunch. Beautiful views of lake from many tables or outdoors on the patio. It was late lunchtime, most tables were empty, but she placed us in an inside table with no view, when I asked for one of view tables she seemed annoyed but switched our seating. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Steaks and sauces were delicious, as well as the sides. Portions were generous. I added a crab cake to steak, probably would skip that next time. We had a wonderful time here celebrating my Grandma's 96th birthday! The wait staff were so friendly & kind, attentive & patient (we had a group of 8)! The ambiance is nice enough for a date night or business dinner, but definitely relaxed enough for us to celebrate her birthday! We were all so happy with our meals, from start to finish. Host , waitress , and view were good. Food ? It's prime rib Wednesday and so we ordered it with 3 grilled shrimp . Medium well prime rib was served cool , others prefer that way but I like it at least warm . No seasoning . The horseradish was not good . The three small grilled shrimp was served cooled . As hot as it was today , all my food were served I'm guessing less than 80F. Even the three small grilled shrimps were served cool. The House of Prime Rib in SF was a 5 star , this place was a 1 star food . I'm not saying it should be 5 star but I was hoping it would be at least a 3 star . There's a great view out the big picture windows or you can actually eat out on the deck and have a beautiful view of Lake Cumberland. Full bar and a pretty nice wine selection also. Driving home from the lake, we decided to try Guthrie's Grill. We dined here years ago when it was called something different. I like the changes to the interior. Great deck with views of the lake when weather is nice. Atmosphere is casual. Menu has something for everyone and a few GF options. Great bourbon selections too. We ordered the fried pickle spears with cilantro ranch dipping sauce. So good! I recommend these. Also ordered the catfish and basil chicken sandwich. Nice that they offer smaller portion sizes on some of the entrees. Service was very attentive! She even made some to go drinks for us. We'll be back next time we're in the area. read more

We're from out of town and friends recommended Guthrie's to us. I was pleased to be able to make a reservation for the patio (since #COVID) and they were very friendly over the phone. When we got there, it was busy with many people waiting but they sat us immediately. The food was good. Highly recommend the chicken nachos, definitely the star of the show. As good as it gets in the Somerset area. This is the place with spectacular river views and food to match. Our burgers were perfect, right on point. The fries were also perfect, not over cooked but just right. The restaurant is super clean and fresh and the seating is comfortable. Access and parking are super easy. The mozzarella sticks for our appetizer were not good.....bland and tasteless....dry and left an unappetizing aftertaste. We left most of the order untouched. My wife's spinach stuffed chicken was good. My salmon was good but small. Every table we saw were served dinner rolls, but we were not. $55 check before tip for the two entrees and appetizer, no drinks and no dessert. Expect a $100 check if you order steaks. The " Lower the Quality, Raise the Price, Offer Zero Customer Service" business model should NOT work. Yet again, we have another thriving example at Guthrie's Grill. What this means is that "We, The Consumer" are the Idiots. It was worth my $50 to make this point. So, keep your free meal, I doubt that a 3rd attempt would change my opinion. I won't be back. As bad as I hate to do this I feel like I have to, appetizers came out they weren't the best but they weren't bad either. I figured whatever let's just see how the entrées come out. I had the 10 oz filet ordered medium rare and it came out well done, so I sent that back since it's 40$. While that was cooking my fiancé found a hair in her Naples chicken stuffing. Service began quickly, but after we received drinks, it seemed to grind to a halt. Took more than 30 minutes to get our appetizer (spinach/artichoke dip which was delicious), and then at least another 25 for entrees to arrive. I didn't receive the sweet potato fries I ordered, and did receive tomato on the burger which I had asked to have removed. At least they took the up charge off the bill for the fries, but since I didn't get them... It wouldn't have been so glaringly obvious that our particular service was slow, but other tables seated 30 minutes after us already had their salads before we ever received the entrees, and had finished their entrees about the same time we did. I came to this place on vacation with no expectations or idea of what to expect. You can tell this is a popular place among the people who live here because it's one of the nicer and more decent ones around. Get there early or you'll likely have to wait! They have a nice variety of food on the menu, so that was good. The food was decent, but nothing amazing or mind blowing. The reason for my 3/5 star review mainly has to do with the service from the staff. Many times our waiter never came to check on us. I sat there with my salad for 15 minutes while everyone else ate because they never brought a dressing for me. When the dressing was brought, they spilled it all over the table and almost on the person next to me. Whenever staff brought us food or drinks, they didn't utter a word. You could tell that they weren't really happy or friendly towards us. Now, they were busy so maybe they were all just having a bad day... But it was a little awkward all around. If I lived here, I'd give this place another chance. My advice would be to go early before the dinner rush and you will probably have a better experience! read more
