Awful disappointment. Missing a sandwich from the order and the food was cold, dry and flavorless. I do not recommend.

Wing Squad - Wings clearly weren't fried fresh, but were reheated in an oven,...where they burned

My buddies and I normally meet up for wings after work on Tuesdays. Since it's been a few months…read moresince we've been allowed to see each other in person, and since it's looking like it'll still be some time until we can meet up again safely - we decided to do wing-night remotely. I could have ordered from another more established wing place, but I decided that for the price, maybe I'd risk getting wings from a smaller joint - support a local business and all that right? The wings were delivered in an inedible state. They had been previously fried and were clearly reheated in an oven...or perhaps the surface of the sun. There's really no way to tell since beneath the buffalo sauce, the wings were burnt to literal ash (picture attached). Of the 18 wings that I ordered, I found maybe 2 or 3 that were actually fit for human consumption. If you're looking for comfort food during this trying time, look elsewhere.

If your time is brief, bottom line up front DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE…read more The concept behind this restaurant is virtual dining, which really means that one kitchen fills the order for multiple restaurants (and there's no real way to resolve issues except through your delivery service). Sounds good, but the execution is lacking. We were given an incorrect order (ordered from Wing Squad and got an order from Flavortown Kitchen, another restaurant that shares this kitchen), but decided to give the food a shot. It was still chicken, after all. The chicken sandwich was awful and overdone, the fries seemed like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for ages, and the jalapeno poppers were covered in some sort of mysterious sauce we were unwilling to even taste. I ended up dropping the whole bag in the trash unceremoniously. If that's indicative of the food quality of that kitchen, I think it's safe to say you're best to steer clear. Note to business owner or manager: going delivery-only doesn't relieve your team of the responsibility to make sure the right stuff is getting picked up. Also, please start cooking edible food.

Nothing felt gimmicky, everything was thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance is outstanding. Walking in, it felt like one of the better spots I've dined in Boston proper or New York. The space has real character. Our server Lou was exceptional. First-timers at a tapas-style restaurant, and he made sure we understood the portions, guided us through choices we weren't sure about, and kept us from over-ordering. That level of attentiveness makes a difference. The food was outstanding. The broccoli alone (yes, broccoli) was a standout. The ahi tuna and rice cake were equally impressive. My martini was perfectly executed. The owner came by, introduced himself, and actually spent time with each table. That kind of engagement from ownership tells you everything about the place's standards. I'm already planning my return to work through the rest of the menu. Whether it's a full dinner or just drinks and a snack, Njord Haven is worth the trip.

The delish cocktail less (which are NOT cheap) have almost no alcohol. I'm not a big drinker, but typically one will suffice. Two is a big night out. When I have three cocktails and almost no buzz, that makes you feel robbed. Who wants to feel ripped off? Several of my friends feel the same way and do not frequent for the same reason. I do hope the lovely owner does the right thing.
