two years ago Lee built me custom carbon wheels - outstanding. Last week I got a retune / repair for one of my bikes (bleed the brakes, clean the drive train, re-tape the bars, fix a nasty indexing in the headset). I rode it today, and it rode cleaner, quieter, smoother than when I first got it. This is the most satisfied I have been with a bike shop in 20 years. Was able to get in and out AND get my pedals put on my bike for me (only 6 bucks, which since I was in a hurry was definitely reasonable) in under 20 mins, which was awesome. I needed to get a basic bike so that I could ride around with my two young boys (5 and 8) they are really into their bmx bikes. I purchased a used Mongoose mountain bike off of Craigslist and took it home, knowing that it would need some work to be roadworthy and ready for casual bike riding. After riding around for a few weekends I knew the low mountain bike handlebar needed to go and I bought a more upright handlebar to make it easier on my back to ride - I put it on and it's a perfect fit - but my brake and shifter lines were now way too short! I found Guy's Bikes on google and emailed them, got a response overnight. They were the most reasonably-priced of the 4 other shops I contacted in the area, and gave me a good feeling they could do it right. I asked them to replace my cables and a front fork on a budget. I dropped the bike off in the morning on Tuesday, they called me today and it's all done - all ready. They did the job professionally and it looks perfect, I can't wait to ride with my boys this weekend! Guy's has a big shop and a service entrance in the back, the people there are super-friendly and answered all my questions without any attitude. They're not even close to where I live, but I will continue to make the trip here to get good service like this. read more

My partner and I went to Guy's Bicycles yesterday to look at buying a new mountain bike for myself. Chris M. asked what type of bike I was looking for. After he determining what size bike I needed, he showed me 3 based on what I was looking for. He had me sit on the bikes to make sure they were the proper fit. Since it was raining, I could not test drive the bikes. I told him we would be back tomorrow (today). We arrived back at Guy's today around 11:30. Chris saw us and remembered our names. Today I got to test drive both of the bikes. I decided on the bike I liked and bought it. Chris showed me different accessories for the bike. There was no pressure to buy anything. I brought my bicycle here, They were recommended by another shop who didn't have anyone to service my bicycle. So disappointed. My grips had get melty so they were to replace with a pair from their stock. The grips wouldn't stay on so tech poked holes in them when I came in to pick it up. Tech hands were greasy and then so became the handles. tire tubes come with valve covers, yes! Well They only put on one. It's been a few weeks and both tires are nearly flat! I'm left with wishing I had done the work myself. I'm sure they could care less but I won't go back to. read more

Awesome service! Not only did they fix my bike in record time but they were extremely nice! During this Covid time they have a service area set up outside and their staff comes outside to take your bike or invite you inside to purchase. There was 3 people ahead of me but they had plenty of staff to help so I didn't wait long. My tire was fixed in 10 minutes and I was on my way. I listened in on other people asking questions and showing their bike issues and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great service, nice people, very rare these days! read more

Surprised there aren't more 4 and 5 star reviews unless Guy's customers are too busy out riding to write reviews. Most likely. I'm one of those but after yet another excellent experience I felt it was my duty to write this shout out for Bob and his team. Woohoo! They are all 100% customer driven. Bob and team are not looking for the 1 time quick sale, but rather looking to build a bond with their customers. It's customers like that that spend more over time with each trip back. But more importantly get what best suits their needs. Why, its Guy's no pressure selling. Bob is passionate about getting folks on the right machine with the right equipment. Case in point, yesterday my wife and I dropped by (busy Saturday of Memorial Day weekend), Bob saw us, said he was with others but if were patient he'd get to us. He got to us in under 15 minutes and we spent a good deal of time discussing possibly buying a new bike for trail and canal path. Bob had me test ride a Cannondale Slate with Lefty fork (aka gravel bike). Was a great ride, but not exactly what I had in mind. I was trying to mimic a 2000 Specialized Rockhopper A1 Comp FS that I mistakenly sold years ago. Was an awesome road and trail bike combo. Very special and made for 1 or 2 years. Then we spoke about my current mountain bike which I converted to a daily commuter/hybrid bike, and ghave been using on the canal path and on some trials since moving to the area. Bob suggested I bring in my Fuji America bike so we could examine it and see it was a candidate for yet a 3rd conversion to a trail and canal path bike (it's 3rd life). See no pressure at all. I brought back the Fuji America bike 30 minutes later. Bob inspected the bike, tested the components and was quite pleased with the super light aluminum frame with mountain bike drive train and gearing set up. I had replaced the mountain tires with road slicks which have been good on the hard pack.... she is fast. All in all, the bike got his thumbs up and all we needed to address was a bike fit issue (lower pack and shoulder). So with a new stem with higher incline height he was able to adjust my positioning on the bars. Next we swapped in new dual purpose pedals (cleat for when I want to go out and tear up a trail ride and for sneakers when cruising locally or on canal with my spouse); plus new cleats. Bob made the entire experience fun and stress free. Can't wait to take out my newly converted bike. All said, $211 spend and a huge smile. We will be back back again to pick up a Garmin computer with 1:1 training so that I can continue to explore great road routes on my road bike. read more

I was in the market for a road bike after almost a year of abusing my hybrid on long rides it had no business doing. I had already test-ridden several bicycles before I landed at Guy's to purchase a Felt. On my first visit, Keith assisted me. Ask for this guy by name - he was very patient, listened to what I wanted and checked out the spec bicycle components to make sure everything matched up with what I was looking for. I wasn't sure what size I would need. Keith is clearly very knowledgeable and loves cycling ... and loves helping other people love cycling too. He helped me order my new bike and I felt very confident in my purchase. When my bike arrived, I worked with Bob to get fitted on my new bike. Again - ask for this guy by name! Bob was very warm, understanding, and helped me make the right shoe and pedal selections for my needs. He didn't try to upsell me or encourage anything that didn't fit my cyclist profile. He explained everything, gave me tips, and allowed me to practice clipping in and out of my new pedals until I felt comfortable. This is quite possibly the best cycle shop experience I've ever had. At no point did I feel rushed, pressured, or looked down upon for not being a crazy cycle-head. I was treated as if I was their only priority and part of their family. The only thing that would make this shop better would be to become a dealer for Twin Six cycling apparel - but that's what the internet is for. I went in two days ago looking for a replacement seat tube quick release. I stripped the threads on mine during a ride this past Sunday. Lee, a mechanic, and possibly a manager, not sure, got on his computer and rapidly found two that would fit. When he told me it had to be ordered from Trek, I sighed and said I'd like to see if any other bike shops had one in stock. After arriving home about a half hour later, I thought, what am I screwing around for. I never shopped the part, called Lee back and left a message, to please order the part. Another fellow called me right back and said he talked to Lee who remembered me and said he'd like to take down my name, number, etc. The part came in today, one day later. I had spoken to Suzanne I think twice about getting a fitting appointment. On both calls she was professional and helpful in explaining what they do. When she heard I had a mountain bike, she regrouped a bit and said they mostly do fittings for road bikes. She then very pleasantly asked me what exactly I was looking for. After I told her, she said they could definitely help. So today, I went in to pick up the quick release part plus get a few things "fit" properly. Bob did this and during the fitting and chatting a little, I learned he and Suzanne owned the shop. Bob is pleasant as can be, was quick but did not rush, and spent time on my issues plus made some really good recommendations. I left with a bike that fit to a "T", and some great advice. Like others who have written about Guy's BIke Shop, I, too, either pass other bike shops I have tried, or know of others much closer to my home. Proximity is not everything. Good service, very decent pricing and did I say good service is mostly everything followed by knowledge. Guys gives both! Service is everything to me. They did a great job fitting me to a frame, and helping me decide between a few different bikes. I placed an order for a Marlin 6. Then I called and changed my order. Then I called and changed again. Noone seemed annoyed and were all happy to help. After making my final selection of an X-Caliber 6 I was told the bike would take about a week to ship and assemble. I was pleasantly surprised to get a call the next day that it was READY! After a week of riding I brought it back for some checking as they told me. The tech made a few adjustments, and showed me things I can check on my own time, and how to adjust them. The best part is I didn't have to make an appointment, or wait, they told me to just come up and 10 minutes later everything was done. They offer free brake adjustment for the first year, but the tech also told me that if I had any problems to just bring it in. Very friendly and informed staff here. Store selection for products is awesome, much more than other local places. I'm lucky to be within riding distance of this great store. read more

The experienced and knowledgeable staff can help everyone from a beginner to recreational to elite level cyclists. My son and I race road and cyclocross and Guy's keeps our bicycles race ready through the season. They are also very helpful with mountain bikes, always offering tips and suggestions on setting up the suspension and for the type of riding we do. The customer service is fabulous and the staff really get to know the customers. From bikes to accessories they are capable of discussing options and providing input on advantages and disadvantages of various equipment based upon your needs. We were in town for Thanksgiving weekend when my husband was looking for a new helmet and some cold weather gear, and not only did we find those things but found a staff who went over and above to make our trip pleasant. They had a wide selection of biking clothes and gear, and they even let us borrow a helmet when we couldn't find the right size helmet to purchase. As if that were not enough, they also pulled up bike trail maps for us as we weren't familiar with the area. Coming from NYC, we're always shocked when people are just nice for no reason. I've never been in Guy's Bicycles before but had an great experience the minute I walked through the door. Dan greeted me from the counter and asked if I needed help. I told him I bought a Thule bike rack over the internet, ended up putting it on my car and noticed a locking nut was not locking right. Dan walked out to my car to look at the bike rack and he even brought tools to try and tighten the locking nut himself. Unfortunately the store did not have the locking nut but he recommend a place who might have it. Dan also helped me take the bike rack off my car and gently placed it in my back seat. I ended up buying a bike mirror for my bike with the price being very reasonable. I will be shopping their again in the near future. Thank you again for a great experience. read more

I have not been on a bike, basically since I was a kid in middle school. I have spent several months researching bikes, trying to get into triathlons to give my knees a break from running. The store is the largest I have seen to sell bikes, and they have a wide variety of gear, clothing, nutrition, and bikes, priced from the normal range to higher end Cannondale, Trek's, etc. Bob and Suzanne are extremely nice and very patient. I had many questions, often went back and forth in deciding what to buy, and not once did I feel pressured to buy a bike, nor any frustration on their behalf. I have spoken with other staff members as well, and every one has been extremely nice and knowledgeable. I will continue to shop here for parts, maintenance, etc. due to their excellent customer service. Cannot be more pleased. read more

In-store i'm sure you have a good experience, because you do not have to deal with the lazy and apathetic owner, Suzanne. Ordering on-line is another story. She is late to reply to emails, orders are not processed in a timely manner then at the last minute after waiting for a week for an item to ship, she decides she doesn't want to ship the item out of state, regardless of the fact that the website is setup and processed my transaction. I was going back and forth with her via email and she decides to change up the communication to a phone call to a line we barely use. When I ask her to expedite the shipping due to the multiple delays, she directs me to another vendor. Poor business practices and ethics. read more

Just had a super-disappointing customer service experience. I have been in 3 times in the past 2 weeks looking for a comfort, hybrid bicycle. Have not purchased a bike in 37 years. Wanted to give my business to a small store and not one of the chain stores. Every time I went into Guy's, I felt invisible.....including today, when I went in to buy a $600.00 bike that I put a deposit on several days ago. Everyone working there always seems really busy, so I just stood at the counter (for a while) waiting my turn, without so much as an acknowledgement (such as "hi, someone will be right with you"). Dan, who sold me the bike, seemed extremely nice and knowledgeable, but was off today. He actually introduced me to a better bike than I was looking for. I test drove the bike and gave a deposit. Today, I really wanted someone to spend some quality time with me, to show me how everything works, as well as making sure the bike was "fit" correctly for me. The man who "helped" me had trouble with the brake assembly and getting the wheel on and off the bike. He was trying to show me how to do it, but it seemed like he really just wanted to get rid of me. I asked about being "fit" and he told me it wasn't necessary for the type of bike I purchased. Now I have a brand new bike with some features on it that I have no idea how to use. He took the front tire off to get it into the car, and I don't have a clue as to how to get it back onto the bike! I am sitting here considering returning this bike and purchasing it elsewhere. So very disappointed, especially after seeing how many people posted good things here. Added 8-28-15: After being really upset by the whole experience, I decided to call and ask for a manager. Spoke to Chad who seemed like he really wanted to make things right. So I went back today (with the bike). Same treatment as yesterday. Walked in the back door by the service area, past 3 or 4 people who work there (including the person who "helped" me yesterday)! Not a "hello, can we help you".....nothing. I walked to the front of the store, and no one was there, so I had to go back to the service area. You would think that MAYBE the guy who helped me yesterday would have recognized me (and you would be WRONG)! Chad was not in, but Suzanne took some time to teach me how to put the wheel and brakes back onto the front tire, as well as explaining the gear systems and making sure the seat was the correct height for me. She also told me that the store offers free maintenance classes the last Saturday of every month and recommended that I check them out. I appreciated that she helped me, but I am not changing my rating. This was overall, an uncomfortable experience that should have never happened. I spent time saving my money, researching what I was looking for and where to purchase it and I just feel like my business was not valued. read more

Couldn't ask for a bike store to have better bikes, accessories, and customer service. I came here hoping to buy a mountain bike for my first time. Immediately upon entering, a staff member approached us and asked what he can help with. He spent about 30 minutes providing a very thorough overview of what factors to consider when buying a bike and showing a few models that he recommends within our price range. He then helped pick out the necessary accessories (ie. good bike rack) and told us which accessories are unnecessary and simply wastes of money. Guys also offers free tune ups for the first year after your purchase. I have come back a few times for minor adjustments and each time I wait for no more than 5 minutes. I recently stopped in here to price new cruisers and I was blown away by the service. The person who helped me on my first visit was knowledgeable, patient, and listened to exactly what I wanted. He took his time going over all of my options and there was absolutely no pressure. I took a night and decided what I wanted.
