My son's bike was fixed which is the purpose of my visit, but the customer service is much to be desired. My son was so excited to pick his bike up and wanted to test ride it and was promptly told no, bc it's too crowded in the store (plenty of space in front of the register). I was then told his seat was way too high and it shouldn't be moved from where he adjusted it. I was also misquoted as there wasn't a mention for a charge for a new tube with the tire. Overall the experience was soured by the lack of friendliness by the owner. read more

I bought a vintage 2003 mountain bike in late spring, a that was kept in the box and was hastily assembled. It was delivered to me and I was pleased to have a bike that I had wanted back in the early 2003. I wasn't too happy with the dated brakes and had bought to replace the original disc brakes. Bike King was recommended to me by a neighbor, who is also a Veteran. I noticed that this local bike shop does a lot of business. Ed said that he could switch out the brakes and give the bike a tune up. The shop has a lot of bikes and accessories for every type of rider. This was done and I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm always looking for opportunities to support local businesses. But I was really disappointed. The owner wasn't wearing a mask. It's a pandemic. Wear a mask. He was also rude and did some mansplaing of where I should put my water bottle holder on my bike. I came in to get a tire fixed. The price was reasonable. Quick turn around on the work, but terrible customer service. Next time I need bike repairs I'll be going somewhere else. read more

Because of the COVID many of us have found new hobbies or outlets. My family (4 adults') decided to purchase bikes as our outlet. We are not the type to buy on impulse and decided to do our research. We visited several locations in PA area and decided to visit Bike King since it's close to our home. When I arrived in the store, the owner was with another customer which was fine. I looked around at the many bikes displayed. Once the owner was finished with the current customer, the phone rang. The owner answered and I noticed he was short with the customer. My first thought was ok, he's short handed and under pressure to please in-store customers. Moving forward, I tell the owner that I have very little knowledge of bikes and was curious about the ones in his store. Before I could finish my story, he interrupts to tell me that all the bikes in his store are repairs only. He don't have any bikes to sell. His words. He eventually goes on to tell me that he plans to get at least 100 or so bikes in a few weeks. I thought ok great. I tell him that I was looking in the price range of $200-$250. He again cuts me off and talks to me in a condescending and arrogant manner. At this point, I decided that this owner is not worth my time or money. It's a shame because if he had been more patient and friendly he could of gotten a big purchase since I was looking for 4 bikes in addition to possibly 4 more from family members. Had the owner of Bike King spent the time to explain that bikes from specialty shops are more expensive, I would have considering spending the higher cost which is what I've done with another bike shop on Street Road. read more

I brought a bike in this morning because a pedal fell out. He just looks at it and says "can't be fixed" and then walks away. Then I say something and he comes back to look further and explains that they'd have to replace the whole crank arm because one pedal "wasn't put in right" on a bike I had for less than a week and I'd have to ask the company for a replacement arm because apparently no one has any way to fix a pedal screwing into a crank arm... not one person has any solution. But he just walked away like it wasn't worth his time to even explain it... like I ride these things all the time and know all these things. So apparently a $700 bike is now completely useless and beyond any remediation because "pedal wasn't put in right" as he put it... on this e-Bike. And I'm sure everyone else will tell me the same thing, I bet, except they'd do it better than this guy did. And without even bothering to continue I just left. He said, "if you contact them and get you the arm, then I can put it in." Yeah, you could... but I wouldn't take it back to you if I did. Also to replace an entire arm because of this simple thing breaking off is more expense than it's worth. I don't have the patience for it.... and don't really need a response to this. It just felt like he couldn't be bothered... so he won't have to worry about my asking for any repairs in the near future anyway. I'd rather drive down to my old place where I used to live and go there. At least they are a bit more personable about things like this. So, it's not that he told me he couldn't fix it.... it was like a sense of his thinking, "yeah, you're screwed.... sorry... should've bought one of my bikes...." and that will never happen... I'd rather duct tape this crap than to spend 2/3 its value to fix it. EDIT: 4/29/2022 6:59pm..... I was able to fix it. It wasn't stripped to where it was unrepairable. My neighbor gave me a hand and got the pedal screwed back in. So the bike I just bought 1 week prior is usable again. EDIT: A better solution was to buy new crank arms so I finally found the new crank arms and bought new pedals. Total cost $70. Watched some videos and managed to easily remove the crank arms and put new pedals on. This bike shop acted like I needed to remove the entire crank bar and get a new motor for the eBike (he really seemed to not like the eBike part of it but whatever)... Turns out all I needed to do was to remove the two crank arms and replace since it was what they call a "square taper." Very easy to pop off with a tool (including the gears attached on the right) and pop on a new set. No major assembly or parts.... or something that was as much as this guy was telling me it was. I fixed it for $70 that he acted like would've been cost prohibitive. Well, it taught me how to fix them myself and now the pedals are securely on the arms and I bought the right gear size for it that I don't need a new deraileur either. (in fact, the gears on this replacement was better than stock because it is a smoother shift now) A special "No thanks" to Bike King read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Owner is SO RUDE. Treated my sister like she was dumb because she asked him to make sure her bike was safe and the brakes were okay. He said "does the bike stop. Then the brakes work." So rude, don't go here ever. Has a punchable face. read more

Purchased a bike online after being told it was available. Called the next day to find out when I could pick it up. I was told that my money was refunded and the bike was sold to someone else. When I said that I could not believe that they would do that the salesman laughed and said he did nothing wrong. What kind of business does that. Went to Bike King to have two bikes worked on. Walked in with the first bike. The owner was in the back of the store working on bikes. Someone, I assume a store employee, directed me to the owner who seemed annoyed that I was interrupting him. He eventually came over and I tried to explain what the problem with the first bike was. In a condescending and arrogant manner, he told me what the problem could be. He took the bike to his little bike holder. By this time, I was so annoyed at his attitude, that I retrieved my bike. After exchanging words, I left the store. There are bike stores almost at every corner. My recommendation to anyone either looking to buy or to have a bike worked on, The Bike King should be at the very bottom of your list of stores to visit. read more

I had a problem with my kickstand. I wasn't sure if it needed to be replaced or not. Brought my bike in today a few minutes after the noon opening. Nice kid helped me right away. Tightened up the proper bolts and sent me on my merry way, no charge! Nice place, great service. Will return with money to spend. read more

My husband just had a terrible experience with this place. I called earlier this week to ask the price to get a new inner tube for a wheel, got quoted "around $21" for the tube and service. I told them my husband would be by this week, and he doesn't speak English very well but this is what he needs. No problem. Today he went in, and they tried to charge him $60. In addition, the man (Ed?) was extremely rude to him. I called to find out what happened. I was very polite but Ed was rude and dismissive to me on the phone, raising his voice and insisting my husband told him he wanted a new chain for the bike. No, that's not what he asked for, nor what I called about earlier. And if you look at the bike, it clearly does not need a new chain. I was initially thinking it was a simple misunderstanding ... but why such a defensive reaction? Maybe he tried to rip him off and is mad he got caught? Regardless, there is no reason why you can't treat others with a little patience and kindness especially if you are in a service business. You lost a family of customers. read more

I recently purchased a new Giant Hybrid from Ed at Bike King and could not of been a better experience. I am the first to say I have a tendency to over analyze everything but Ed put me at ease with his knowledge and more importantly his patience. I had a back spasm so i took the opportunity to get my bike tuned up. I took it in to Bike King and the owner (I never got his name) mentioned the bike was too small for me. I thanked him but I couldn't afford a new bike so I asked him to tune up my old one. A few days later, he called and said he just got a big bike in on a trade in and I could have it for $140, which was less than the cost of overhauling my bike. This is a great bike shop. Service like this is not available in the big chain stores. I needed 2 bikes for my 9 year old twin boys and Ed was very helpful and took time to sit my kids on bikes and get the right size for them. He was very informative about the bikes and history of the bikes. To top it off when I went back to pick up the bikes the Giant factory had sent him the wrong bikes that where similar to the ones we ordered but much more expensive. Ed was gracious enough to not make me wait another week or so for the right bikes and sold me the more expensive bikes for the same price without making me pay a penny more. Again unheard off in business today!! Great guy! Great customer service! and great Bike shop!. I would recommend anyone to go there. Went here once to have a bike looked at. The person in the store didn't seem like he had much interest in doing the work... he was very short with his answers, didn't really explain things well, and even started working on other bikes as I was talking to him. He just seemed very put-offish. I left and took the bike to another shop. Just felt like my business wasn't wanted there. Before he came over to ask if I needed anything, I browsed around a bit, and the store seemed a bit pricey. Not terrible, but not what I'd consider competitive pricing either. read more
