I first visited Tayler Young in January 24 and she presented herself as understanding; however, it was just the opposite after a few months with her. She prescribed two medicines ( including several other combinations) that should not have been prescribed because I have had approximately 20% drop in my kidney function by taking it. I informed her that I stopped it in August 24 because I was having heart palpitations. She was trying to treat blood pressure and improve kidney function with one medication. I did not pick up one of the medications because it had been red flagged by the pharmacist. He advised me not to take it. My last visit to her in January 2025 lasted for about five minutes of her time. She told me to come back in February in spite of the fact that my blood pressure was now normal because she had honored my request to double the original blood pressure that I have been taking for over 50 years. I missed the February appointment because the cab did not arrive. That was a good thing for me because she then denied my two prescriptions (meanspirited), saying that I had to come in. Meanwhile I had to go to several doctors for other ailments like severe ear infection, wart and muscle spasm--and to the emergency room for elevated blood pressure. I sent her a photo of the reading and she lowered it in her notes. My blood pressure is fine and I am now trying to reverse the kidney function. I came here several times for COVID testing during the height of the pandemic, and always had good experiences. When they transitioned to primary care and I had an urgent need to find a new advanced care practitioner, I came here and found Tayler Young, who is excellent. She is patient, thorough and very attentive to her patient's needs and limits. She is now basically our "family doctor". The staff here has also always been very professional, courteous and helpful. I know some are frustrated it's no longer a walk-in clinic, but once you're a patient, it's fairly easy to make appointments, get refills, etc., through MyChart. I would definitely recommend and am happy this place is part of my healthcare team. read more

My son had blood In urine the last couple of days, we go to this GW location and the front desk turned us away citing they no longer except walk ins. I used to work directly above this office, so came frequently. I had constant issues where I would make appointments and be seen 30 minutes to an hour late. I would also receive past due notice on bills that were not mentioned to me as I checked out, being told that once I paid my copay, everything was "good to go." Bills were postmarked well after the "last due date" listed on the bill itself, and one time it was referred to a creditor before I had even received the bill. The last straw was when I went for sleep issues/anxiety. The doctor rudely said something along the lines of, "Oh , boy issues?" when I was discussing my symptoms. read more

RE: Dr. JOEL WILLIS: I called the practice to schedule an appointment for severe and debilitating pain and while I was discussing my condition with the staff, Joel Willis rudely entered the conversation, raised his voice and refused to answer any questions. I asked if I had a right to ask what services the practice offered in relation to pain management, he essentially told me that I had to come in for a visit to find out. I find this attitude to be extremely dangerous, especially given the spine and neurological conditions. Upon doing my research, Willis is neither trained nor qualified to assess such issues but forces patients for visits - possibly to boost profits. As a warning to self and others, it would be prudent to exercise great caution in consulting with this medical professional as his demeanor, attitude, lack of empathy and unwillingness to listen to a patient's concerns can result in faulty diagnosis and prescriptions that could be life threatening. read more

The visit itself was fine, but I called the practice multiple times with questions about my medications and reactions I was having to the medication with no response whatsoever. Their answering machine guarantees that they will call you back within 24 hours - that did not happen even after calling again and again and leaving messages each time. They finally called back weeks later when my week-long antibiotic was long completed, and they said, "Well, you should be feeling better now." Doctors have a responsibility to the people they treat, and I was very disappointed to be left hanging with no guidance. I won't be returning, and I don't recommend them. read more

I have been here several times now and love everything about this place. Dr. Naing is excellent: patient, smart, kind, and thorough. I can't rave about her enough. And the sport physician. Dr. Sahi is excellent, too. The front desk staff members are very good, especially when you consider how busy they are, and how they have to deal with anxious, irritable people all day - who are anxious and irritable because they're in pain or sick. I've had x-rays here and blood tests, plus visits with the sports doctor after twisting my back. Every test was professionally expedited - with a smile. A big THANK YOU to everyone there. Yep not all heros wear capes. I walked into this place not expecting much, but the ole revolving door and it wasn't here. I was in so much pain I literally could barely walk. I was checked on by three different people who yes they were in a hurry but generally cared about my issue. I had all three staff members apologize for my wait which was not that long. I finally was seen by Dr Sahi who again apologized for my wait and again was not that long considering I was a walk in. When was the last time you had a doctor who really made you feel like you were not a number? I strongly recommend this primary care facility to anyone. I am a patient (well now former patient). My waiting times were always long even when I would book my appointments ahead of time. It was also incredibly annoying how long I had to wait to schedule my annual primary care visits in advance (note: need to book 2-3 months out). However, I stuck with them because of convenience (near work). Well... not anymore! Thank goodness (freedom at last!!!). Today, I called to see if I could get antibiotics for a UTI (I've had them before, each time was unbearable pain). The woman who picked up the phone was very rude. After explaining to her that it was painful for me to walk and that I've had them before so I can accurately self diagnose, she told me to either come in (in person) or go to the ER in a very rude, "I don't care about you" way. She wouldn't let me talk to a prescriber and sounded really annoyed when I asked. When a patient is in pain, the least you could do is show them empathy considering you work in the health care field. I did not receive that with this woman. I understand that practices have their standards of care but I don't think being extremely rude to a patient is one of the standards. If you have a non life threatening condition, like a UTI, pink eye, sinus infection, sprains, etc. do yourself a favor and use telehealth. That is exactly what I did and it worked out in my favor significantly. I quickly downloaded the Live Health Online app and was seen by a primary care doctor right away. He spent more time answering my questions than any of the prescribers at this facility. Amazing! My insurance didn't cover the telehealth services but it was only $49 without insurance coverage -- which is about the same or more as urgent care WITH INSURANCE. You're getting more bang for your buck with the app vs. coming into this facility and having to deal with the rude front staff. Anyways - I won't be coming back. I had my annual check up scheduled months ago for tomorrow but canceled it because of my experience today with the phone staff. I'm going to look for another pcp facility because the customer service and long wait times are not worth it. Esp when you have so many other options such as telehealth and other primary care in DC. read more

Came in for a pre-procedure COVID test with an order from GW hospital. Refused service and not offered any alternative because they only have specified hours for COVID testing. None of this is posted or shared with patients. Don't do pre-procedure testing over the weekend either. Staff was unhelpful, no alternatives, no offer to look in the system for the order, or to call the office that requested it. read more

Very good experience all around! I noticed this place when it opened about 6-8 months ago... and decided today to stop in. I somehow hurt my foot at least a week ago, and finally decided that I needed to go get x-rays done. I called first to see if they had an x-ray machine, and the male attendant who answered the phone said yes, and told me that they weren't very busy at that moment if I wanted to come in. He was friendly on the phone as well as in person. I arrived at 2pm, was seen within 25 min, met with a Physician's Asst. (Shannon Gorrell), got x-rays taken, was diagnosed with tendinitis, fitted with a boot and ace bandage, had a prescription called into my pharmacy, and given a referral to a podiatrist... and was out the door by 3:30. All things considered, it was a quick trip, and certainly a much better experience than what I would have had at an Emergency Room. Front desk and x-ray staff were very polite, friendly and nice. Shannon Gorrell seemed to be quite knowledgeable, and also was very friendly. The space itself was spotless. Beautiful front lobby with comfortable chairs, plenty of magazines, and CNN on two TVs. My examining room was state-of-the-art, and also impeccably clean. They take insurance... (at least they take CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield), and are associated with GW Hospital. Shannon told me that they also do Primary Care, and I told her that i'm a member of One Medical Group, and that the vibe of this place reminded me of One Medical (which I also really like). She then said that they often time get overflow of One Medical patients when their doctors are over-booked. Highly recommended! read more

I call the front desk several times back to back for hours then repeat the next day and the next day etc same thing no one picks up the phone. So i decide to walk over to the office to make an appointment where im told I'm to busy to make an appointment you can wait or come back or call. The doctors are nice. However, the team at the front desk isn't responsive, ignores calls and are incredibly rude. I can't count the number of times they've told me to "please hold" and have hung up on me. I then have to call back continuously to get an answer. Today after sitting for 20 minutes after signing in for a scheduled appointment I politely asked how long the wait would be for my appointment. One woman snapped at me that I had to be signed in...I told her I had, even mentioning the specific time, and pointed out that they were sitting there. One got defense and said she wasn't there. Pretty terrible experience. So, I am in search of a primary care doctor. I decided to try Metro Immediate and Primary Care at their downtown location despite the doctor I originally had wanted an appointment with not being in this particular location. My main concern was their inability to give me any idea on what was covered or how much I would be billed. My first encounter was with the front desk reception, who told me that she couldn't tell me what my insurance covered and how much. That seemed a bit odd to me. So, I asked for the hospital administrator (her manager). She told me that they would not be able to tell me how much a procedure would cost me, only the amount they bill to insurance. And that if I wanted to know, I would have to call the insurance myself and that there was "no way to know." This seemed odd and I was questioning how this could be, because how do I know I can afford the tests or treatments? I was pretty sure other hospitals I attended were able to liaise with my insurance and give me an estimate on costs. However, without knowledge if this was something I should expect as a hospital service, I didn't argue any further. So, I try to call myself but the insurance company (who was trying to be helpful) is asking for codes and other information that I just don't know. She seemed baffled that the hospital would have me call (she referred to a "provider line."). However, I had made the time to come to the clinic, wanted to get the visit over with and it was a pretty routine check up, so I just went ahead and continued with my appointment. After consulting some of my doctor friends they were told me this was pretty substandard care. That usually a clinic would have a financial person and/or a "patient liaison" who could work with the insurance company to provide estimates for costs to the patient. There is so much more to this story but I really wanted to emphasize and review that this place is substandard, particularly with the administrative staff. The NP himself was ok but nothing impressive and definitely not impressive enough to make up for the incompetent admin staff. read more

I have been here multiple times and thought it was a pretty decent urgent care; yes, there is always a wait, and yes, the doctors are not as thorough as if you go to a primary care doctor, but in my experience this is just what you get with urgent care and I thought this was better than most. However, my boyfriend came here last week with a fever and bug bite on his leg after visiting Africa and the doctor was horrible. Most people, let alone doctors, know that when someone comes back from Africa with a fever and bug bite on their leg, there is always a chance of malaria and a thorough exam should be done. However, when he went to show this doctor the bite on his leg and tell her where we were specifically in Africa, she cut him off and said "no, I only care about your symptoms." Not only was this rude, it was extremely negligent. So in short, he wasted 3 hours and $30. I'm highly disappointed in the way things are (especially at the 1101 15th street location). Every time I've called I hang up up after being on hold for almost 2hours! I've only gotten a response in one occasion (from NP Aima Payton). I sent 4 emails to 3 different Dr.s trying to get my results. When one Dr called my house number (my cell was my primate number), she left a message with the person that answer and said she'd call back in the evening. She didn't call back and I still haven't received a response to any of my emails. The Rhode Island Ave location wasn't always like this. But, as of lately they're just as bad at answering and responding to calls/emails as McPherson square. I only gave two stars because I appreciate being able to come in on any day as a walk-in. read more

Was there twice. It was a hit and miss situation. One physician thought I had diverticulitis, when the cat scan cane out negative she diagnosed muscle spasms. I disagreed with her assessment and she asked me to go to another doctor. Thank God I was able to send my results to my doctor and he prescribed the appropriate meds. The next time I was there, I was skeptical but I did need to see a doctor. I definitely asked for a different doctor. And that was a good call. He was very nice, attentive very caring, a bit to caring for my taste but hell I am from New York, (I am not used to that). This place doesn't deserve the bad rap they've gotten. I walked in and was seen within an hour. Bedside manner matters and I'd say all of the staff were professional and polite. With my insurance coverage, I was only out of pocket $20. The waiting room was well lit with outlet plugs and had a desk space to work (which I'm sure many a Washingtonian workaholics put to use). The office is easily accessible via metro - a short walk from McPherson Square station. It's no bells and whistles concierge service like OneMedical, but if that's what you're looking for go there. After my appointment, I asked the receptionist where I should go to fill my prescription and she suggested an app that provided me a list of pharmacies and the price listing of how much my prescription would cost with a digital a coupon (GoodRx). read more

Honestly GW MFA should be avoided at all costs, but this particular location is especially bad. The non-medical staff are straight up jerks, and Dr Yang is very dismissive of people's symptoms. This place also pushed prescriptions like they are candy. It's decent for immediate care but in no way should anyone do primary care here. Its 100% a place pretending to primary care. I've been here twice now (once for a friend and once for myself), and both times, we've been in and out in a reasonable amount of time! I came a Monday afternoon as a walk-in. They told me I'd have to wait probably 40-45 minutes. I waited 40 minutes and I was brought in, explained my symptoms to the doctor (Dr. Yin Naing is AMAZING and SO NICE), and I was given my prescriptions. Such a smooth process. I'll definitely be coming here the next time I need to stop by an urgent care facility!! read more

This place was a headache after I visited. My visit went well but afterwards was a huge chore. The doctor I saw was professional and helpful. He ran a test for me, and said they would call with results. I waited about a week and then called to inquire. No one responded to my message. I called again three more times over the next 4 days, and still got only an answering machine, and no call back. I finally had to go back in person to ask about the test results. They billed me after my visit, with an error on the charges (they charged me twice for something), and claimed I was already overdue on payment despite this being my first notice. I called asking about this as well, and again got only an answering machine. It's really frustrating that it appears no one there answers the phone. Overall, I would say that this place is helpful in a pinch, especially since it's open on Saturdays, but go somewhere more organized for your primary care. read more

This place just wants your co-pay. I needed a referral. I emailed them asking them to contact my doctor for a referral to a dermatologist. I had a cancer scare and wanted to have a mole checked out. After three emails (marked urgent), and no response, I finally was able to reach someone. Rather than giving a referral to my dermatologist, they wanted to schedule an appointment the NEXT week. Dr. Niang is not a dermatologist, so I would have had to go in, pay a co-pay, let them bill my insurance for her to tell me she wants me to go to a dermatologist....then go to them and pay a co-pay. I just went to the dermatologist and skipped this. Dr. Niang was not understanding at all that I had a legitimate scare and did what I needed to do to ensure I was okay. Rather than giving me a referral and saving me $300, she denied me and wanted me to prolong the issue. Avoid this place. read more

I came here because I thought I broke my foot and needed an X-Ray. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Judge Judy that was playing in the waiting room, I spent more than 2 hours waiting in the back for the radiologist to review my x-ray. If expectations were set that it would be a long wait, that would've been fine.... but the staff kept telling me "it'll just be 10 more minutes" and then disappear. Very frustrating. After a little more than 2 hours, they told me it was not broken and sent me limping on my merry way. This place is nice and clean, but the staff was not helpful. This office has definitely gone through some growing pains, (especially about contacting patients) but I think they've worked most of them out. I've gone there for both urgent care and primary care. I went there early on Monday morning to get a nasty cough checked out, and was seen pretty quickly without an appointment, got evaluated, and got a script written for a cough suppressant in a timely manner. I appreciated that the office seems to be staying within reasonable prescribing guidelines - they didn't automatically write me a script for an antibiotic and the cough medicine is a non opioid. A lot of the negative reviews here are complaints about not getting antibiotics for a viral infection, but I think it's great that they resist the pressure to do that! It shows an investment in the health of the community and that they follow treatment protocols. read more

Huge mistake to come here. To start with, I had to wait over an hour and a half to be seen even though I came in at about 8:30 in the morning. Others have mentioned that the waiting room is ground level in a building downtown with plate glass windows, so anyone walking by on the street can see you sitting in there. So for almost two hours I'm sitting there sick and nauseous in full view of everyone walking around downtown DC that day like a fish in a tank. It's extremely uncomfortable. Then I only got seen for about 5 minutes, and it didn't feel like the doctor took me or my symptoms particularly seriously, even though I told her I was having sudden dizziness and trouble breathing. I tested negative for the flu and they just sent me away. I paid fully out of pocket at the clinic before I left, but the real dealbreaker and why I'm giving them 1 star is that they've continued to send me bills for the flu test that I paid for that day. It even says on my bill that I'm getting billed twice for it. I've called their customer service line twice and was told it was a mistake and they'd correct it, then the third time I got a bill I emailed them but have gotten no response. The next time I needed a clinic I went to a different one (not sure if it's appropriate or not to say the name of the other one so I won't) and that one had a way shorter wait, the billing was handled transparently, and the practitioners listened to me and followed up with me a couple of times to check on my symptoms and ask me to come in for a followup (for free). Definitely will be using that clinic instead of Metro from now on. Update: They finally called me back about this issue and said that I was actually supposed to pay twice when I was in the office and it was their mistake not to bill me twice at the time. For one thing I'm really skeptical of the explanation that they gave me, but I'm also annoyed that it took three months and three calls to their customer service to finally get that explanation. Going to this clinic was definitely the most expensive mistake I've made in a while. read more

I'm sitting in my room now for 30 minutes waiting on another doctor to see me. The doctor who came in, Black older female with locks, has the worst bed side manners. It's as if she's bitter to help people, as this is her job. I'm sure she's making a decent salary but clearly money cannot buy class and self respect. Enough self respect to be empathetic to a patient, no matter of what degree. She's grossly unprofessional and should be removed from this practice and not be allowed to practice anywhere. Doctors are great. I love Dr. Naing - she is so helpful and kind and always pays attention to me during the visits. Non judgmental and easy to talk to. The immediate care is probably fine. My mistake is assuming the primary care would be okay. HOWEVER. The front desk and admin staff. WOW. 1) Do not, under any circumstances, expect them to answer your call. I've left 10 voicemails within the last week regarding having medication transferred to another pharmacy, my insurance provider has left almost as many, and we have not received a single call in return. The voicemail says they will return the call within 24 hours. Not a chance. 2) Do not, under any circumstances, expect kindness or expedience. I had an appointment at 9:30 one morning, so I arrived at 9:15. At 10:15 am I asked how long the wait would be and she said "you wait until your name is called" so I told her I had to get going and she said "ok" and I asked for a refund, she asked my name again, printed me a receipt, and wordlessly turned around - didn't ask if I'd like to reschedule, apologize, anything. I have no idea what is going on with the staff at the front desk but they are quite literally the rudest people I've ever had to work with. If I ever receive my prescription refill, I will be going elsewhere for primary care. This is ridiculous and they are completely holding my prescription hostage which is for a life threatening condition. I also cannot get an appointment to have this refilled so I'm on my last few days of medication not knowing what's going to happen. read more

This place is awful. They are never able to see patients on time even if you have an appointment. They absolutely NEVER answer the phone or return voice mails. They don't call in prescriptions when they are supposed to. Worst of all is their medical notes don't in any way reflect what actually occurred during the consultation. I have been going to Metro Immediate & Primary Care for years. However, my rhythm was thrown off a bit when they closed the NOMA office. That said, I've been to this downtown location a few times and have seen someone different every time I've been there. I set up an appointment through their website at this downtown office. I get a call 30 minutes ahead of time (I'm already en route!!)...saying that I was not eligible to schedule an appointment with the available doctor since I had never seen him before and I needed to establish myself. Apparently all the other times I had been going to this practice did not count. I'm fine if I don't understand attribution at this practice. But to CANCEL on me thirty minutes before? I had already received an email confirming the appointment - if there was an issue, why would i have received that. The woman who called me was extremely unhelpful...you understand that you are cancelling a DOCTOR'S VISIT on a SICK patient. If I had know that you would be cancelling on me, then I would've gone somewhere else to begin with. I think I'd still recommend the other practices, but this one leaves something to be desired - namely competent staff. read more

I hate this place. I've written a previous review of headaches that I have had. I stopped going to their offices because I was often misdiagnosed (while still given prescriptions), wait time is hours even with an appointment, billing is horrendous, and they have no concept of customer service. Like today, get home and what is waiting for me? A bill. One that has already been paid. For a visit that occurred OVER A YEAR AGO!
