Gypsys Kebab Combo Plate

Went here on Tuesday for dinner. There were only two other guests dining. The staff had great customer service. The food was very flavorful and fresh. A lot of people were coming for takeout orders. Highly recommend

Salmon kabob and Chicken Kebab
Dunia S.

The best salmon kabob I've ever had and absolutely loved their orange blossom infused iced tea. The experience was great, the place was quiet, but sooo relaxing. We got there about an hour before closing. Service was amazing, they were so kind and sweet. Can't wait to come back here, especially for that salmon kabob.

The ice cream is AMAZING! The garlic sauce was also so good! You feel like you're being welcomed into your grandmas kitchen. Very comfortable, relaxed, and all fresh cooked food. The service was amazing also.

Turkish coffee!

Such an amazing little spot! Tried Turkish coffee for the first time and loved it! The food was delicious and the service was so warm and welcoming. They happily accommodated our party of five, and you can really feel the love in this family-owned gem. Can't wait to go back! gracias!!

Family owned since 2003, Gypsy's Persian Grill brings authentic Mediterranean flavors with a proud Persian twist straight from the heart of Tehran. Every dish feels rooted in tradition, from the perfectly seasoned meats to the vibrant sides that showcase real home style cooking. Located in the beautiful Belmont Shore neighborhood, this spot delivers warmth, flavor, and a sense of heritage that keeps you coming back. A true local gem with heart and history.

Cute spot right by a small pier... small and intimate with a back patio lined with fake flowers. Bathroom is small and outdated... building is old. Food was ok. We tried the sampler plate and the kebab combo. Sampler plate was on the smaller side. Hummus, cucumber yogurt dip, eggplant borani and 3 dolma. Nothing stood out as great but it was good. Dolma were eh. It was served w an ample amount of pita. Kebabs: we got the curry chicken because they ran out of Turkish chicken, and the kubide. Portion of the salad (we got tabbouleh) was small. The chicken was really good... cooked well and good flavor. Kubide was eh. Not much flavor. We tried their hot sauce and it tasted like thicker tapatio. Nice spot for a date night if it's walkable from you or if you're in the area and can find parking. Wouldn't seek this out in terms of the food.

i loved the sampler here!! the eggplant was my favorite as i typically do not get this side & it was a nice contrast to the hummus or other sides. the chicken kebab plate was delicious as well! i shared the sampler & the plate but would recommend getting your own plate if ur a decent amount of hungry. the inside was very cozy & they also have outdoor seating. they do close the outdoor patio when its windy so no sand getting in ur food. service was kind & friendly to everyone who was dining! parking was a little challenging but its near the beach so just be prepared to circle around

a hidden gem right by the long beach shore! we got the chicken and the lamb plates and they were honestly the perfect size for us. the saffron rice was super fragrant, the meats were well seasoned and grilled to perfection, and paired with the light, but aromatic garlic sauce the service was spectacular, seating us right away and giving us an extra side of tabbouleh! the restaurant itself was cozy, and in an amazing location right by the pier. 10/10 i'm still thinking about this the next day!

Food didn't even last ten minutes on the table. It was that good. Great spot, close to the beach, also very cute inside.

Turkish Chicken Kebab Plate

Came to dine in on a Sunday night at 7 pm and the place was completely empty with no other customers. Despite that they took so long to cook each dish. The dirty glasses from the previous people sitting at our table were not cleared away. I had higher expectations for this place after reading the good reviews. We ordered the Turkish chicken kebab plate, Kubide kebab plate, falafel side, and the sampler platter. Sampler platter: 8/10. Everything on the plate except the eggplant borani was pretty good. Falafel side: 8/10. The outside was crispy, but slightly burnt. Chicken & Kubide kebab plates: 6/10. The meats were pretty dry. Both the meat and the rice of both dishes were tasteless and the garlic sauce on the side didn't have much taste either. It would have been better if it was more garlicky and not watered down. Ambiance & parking: There is only limited street parking available. The restaurant is pretty small with a cozy cafe vibe. Overall the food was very underwhelming and I don't think I'd return back.

We stopped by here on a weekday because it was one of the dog-friendly restaurants near Rosie's Dog…read moreBeach. They have multiple outside seating areas where you can sit with your doggo. Ambiance (5/5): Although we didn't sit inside, it was super cute, with classy boho vibes. The restroom was clean and well-decorated (although, not gonna lie, I don't know how I felt about the big mirror facing the toilet). The outside patio area was airy, and although right by the street, I didn't find it unpleasant. Service (3/5): It was just so-so. They sat us down quickly, gave us our menus and checked on us maybe twice. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait to ask for things like extra plates and water for our dog. Food Overall (5/5): Food was delicious. We got the beef shawarma lunch special and got fries for the side (extra charge) and also the chicken shawarma lunch special with the hummus side. Beef Shawarma (4/5): It had a nice toasty flavor, perhaps from the spices, and the pickled veggies really complemented it. My only complaint was that I wish it had a bit more of the white sauce (maybe adding more hummus would have helped). It was also strangely a bit watery, maybe from the veggies. Overall, it was still a yummy wrap. Chicken Shawarma (5/5): The chicken shawarma tasted more balanced to me overall. I don't recall the meat being dry, although I did also slather it with a bit of hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed this wrap. Fries side (5/5): Their fries are made in house and it tastes so fresh. It was crispy on the outside yet still gooey and moist on the inside. I'm not sure if they make their own ketchup too, as it looked clumpier and tasted really fresh too. The kids gobbled this up. Hummus and pita (5/5): It came with a generous amount of both hummus and pita. The hummus was well flavored and blended, and it really complemented everything on the table. The pocket pita bread was not what I had in mind (I'm used to thicker ones), but the kids really loved it overall. Ice cream (4.5/5): We ordered two scoops from the dessert menu. They were both really thick, creamy and almost chewy like liquidized mochi. It was a very interesting texture but nonetheless a nice tasty treat on a hot day. I much preferred the vanilla bean, as the pistachio tasted and looked rather artificial (and I'm a pistachio ice cream lover). This place had so many to-go orders during the afternoon we were there. I can see why. Food is super fresh and tasty. I think we will be back the next time we are visiting.

Everything was going normally until I got to the sauce options at the end. The employee asked if I wanted barbecue sauce or hot sauce. I didn't hear her clearly at first and said "mild," and she responded in an irritated tone that it was either barbecue sauce or hot sauce. I told her I had never seen the barbecue sauce before and asked what it looked like. She repeatedly just said "it looks like barbecue sauce" instead of simply showing it to me or explaining it. I even asked if she could show me the sauce, and she still responded dismissively and seemed annoyed that I was asking basic questions before deciding what I wanted on my food. What made the interaction worse was that there wasn't even a line or rush happening at the time. I wasn't trying to hold anything up -- I just wanted to know what I was ordering. The receipt listed the employee name as "Estuardo," although the employee helping me was a woman, so the register name may not match the actual employee. I'm leaving this review as constructive feedback because a little patience and friendliness goes a long way with customers.

My BFF and I both ordered the chicken kebab plate and the chicken breast pieces were very salty. The hummus was waxy and the rice seemed more on the Spanish rice side (we figured they cooked on the same grill as their Mexican orders. Although we weren't impressed with their Med food, the portions are plentiful. I wouldn't mind trying their Mexican food on another day so that my change my perception.

I felt incredibly welcomed and comfortable, largely because our waitress was able to accommodate us and explain everything beautifully. She was so patient, clear, and attentive as she walked us through the menu, and her personal recommendations were absolutely spot on. As for the food--everything was incredibly delicious. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of care into their dishes. The portion sizes were also perfect; they were generous enough to leave you completely satisfied without feeling overwhelmingly heavy. The absolute highlights of the meal came at the end. You cannot leave this place without trying the pistachio ice cream--it was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Our server thought he heard my sister order the Lamb Mediterranean Bowl, but she actually ordered the Chicken Mediterranean Bowl. When the lamb bowl arrived, my sister immediately explained that the order was incorrect and that she had requested chicken, not lamb. Instead of simply correcting the mistake, the server argued with us for 5-10 minutes, repeatedly insisting that we had ordered wrong and saying, "You ordered wrong. You cannot returned the plate. The kitchen already cooked it. What is the kitchen going to do with it? Throw it away?" He even suggested that we could buy chicken kabobs separately for $7 ea. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager or owner. The server walked away, then returned, took my sister's plate and brought out the correct chicken plate. Mistakes happen -- we understand that. What was disappointing was the lack of customer service and the arguing instead of simply handling the situation professionally. I have never experienced a server refusing to correct an order and debating with customers over a simple mistake.
