Chicken Souvlaki Skewers, Beef and Lamb Skewers
    Carina H.

The pita here, cooked with tallow, was the best pita I've had and came with the skewers. The Chicken Souvlaki skewer and Beef and Lamb skewer were juicy and well-seasoned. For the quality of the food and the friendly service, this spot was very reasonably priced. There's not much seating, but the seating didn't feel too tight.

Located in a small space decked out in cute blue and white decor, Gyro City is a welcome addition to the foodie Mecca of Macdougal St. Come visit for hearty and fresh Greek food prepared with care and be served by a friendly face. It's best to preorder for pickup as cooking up your order takes time. There is a counter with a handful of bar stools to sit and eat, or you can take it to an NYU student lounge at the Kimmel Center, or Washington Square Park available to the public. Note that the eatery is not ADA accessible as there are stairs to climb for entry, and there is no customer bathroom.

Solid gyro spot - authentic Greek gyro with French fries folded in. We tried the lamb and beef gyro. We were pleasantly surprised by how much meat was included, which made the price ($17) well worth it. The gentleman working the front was very helpful as we made our choice. He shared his favorite personalized gyro with feta and all the sauces. I'll try that next time

Excellent chicken gyro. It's massive . I would've loved more meat and less fries in there , but I'd still say their pink signature sauce and the flavor is just right and it's a very damn near perfect gyro . Their fries were hand cut and highly addictive as well . Easily the best greek food I've had in years!

One of the best tasting gyros. The beef and lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce is so delicious. The fries are included inside the wrap. The pita bread is huge and thick. Big portion. I couldn't finish it all. It's a small place up the stairs, but the gyro is easy to eat on the go. Nice and friendly staff.

I enjoyed the gyro and Greek salad, good stuff. And the staff was nice. :). I'll probably do a bowl next time though.

Sweet server! Really dry food that was lacking flavor. And vegetables. And freshness. It was quick though!

Not much to say except the best gyro I've had in NYC and excellent service. Very quick service. Everything is fresh.

Reservations open 2 weeks in advance around 10am and they go super fest so I recommend you try for the day you need as for me I could only have gotten brunch on a Sunday. Those people spam the crap out of their buttons for the dinner spots and when I went I can see why. The place is brimming with old school New York charm and it's completely overwhelmingly beautiful and has an old jazzy vibe to it. It's large and spacious and they sat us in the middle of the entire restaurant. (I had a group of 6) The vibe was so good you don't really want to leave and they also don't really kick you out. I think we were the last ones to exit for brunch but they were so nice they didn't kick us out. Their espresso martinis are ok. It wasn't as amazing as a regular cocktail bar but it is just ok. We started off with a shrimp cocktail, smoked whitefish Caesar salad and the two plates of truffle monkey bread which was soooo good. I really enjoyed this as it's the main reason we came here. It's almost like a honey dinner roll with truffle. We got everything next which some people got their own and some shared. Some people got their own American breakfast platter which was some overdone eggs and a meat with gigantic toast and if you only order scrambled eggs it comes in a bowl but I would much rather order their classics like steak sandwich and the spicy shrimp was pretty good! Fries are top tier! I can see why people just come here for dinner. I would give it mostly 5 stars for the overall ambiance and environment and a few classics. I think their old fashioned is better than their espresso martinis though even though it looks so good in this type of setting! It's hard to get a reservation though so next time I'll need to try some new things if I score another!

Decor/actual restaurant: This particular location is very small and tight with limited in-store seating. The interior is cute, I like the blue color theme they have here. For a restaurant designed for to-go orders, I believe that there could be more waiting room and a couple less chairs. Service: Like many "fast food adjacent" restaurants, the people who work there have good customer service but I imagine deal with the worst. I know they're doing great with the situation they're in. Kudos to them. Food: this is probably my harshest critique. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was fine. I don't believe it was worth the $16 I spent though. The chicken was kind of bland, tasted similarly to frozen grilled chicken pieces you buy from a grocery store. I do wish there was more sauce. The pesto tasted good but overall there was too much bread. I fear you would be better off making something like this at home for a comparable price. The bread was good, just too much. I don't want to base the menu on this sandwich alone, a lot of the menu options sounded delicious, but this was just the experience I had!

For a dairy-intolerant vegetarian, Le Botaniste offers safe, healthy, clean, diverse, and delicious food, and friendly service - why should one go anywhere else? When I entered its bright, spacious and nicely decorated premises, I was greeted right away by a staff, who most patiently explained all their food items and the process of ordering, answered my questions, and offered great suggestions. Everything on display was a feast for the eye and and enhancement for one's appetite. I chose the combo meal of half Longevity Bowl (I really wanted to try their Falafel!) and soup of the day (tomato soup). Everything comes with a pile of add-ons. I don't remember them all, but whatever they suggested and gave me, the combination tasted just awesome! The soup was thick in texture, rich in flavour, crunchy with the chopped nuts and seeds, and piping hot. Every bite of the Longevity Bowl was surprisingly delightful. I wasn't super hungry but somehow devoured everything as if starved. I didn't feel stuffed afterwards, just totally satisfied, but the actual "fullness" lasted much longer than I expected. Such is the magic of life-enriching organic produce. Upon departure, I was handed a card, which records one's visits, and after 5 visits, one gets a free bowl! I will certainly come back enough times for that :-)

On top of that, drinks come with ceramic cups and meals are served in ceramic bowls along with stainless steel utensils.
