Met former coworkers for lunch here. The food was very good but the service was a little lacking. Not sure how long this place will last since they didn't seem busy at all but if you do need a solid lunch option in the area, I recommend it.

Visited Frangos Peri Peri for dinner with a friend on Wednesday evening. I was super excited to try this place as it seemed like an equivalent to Nando's, and I was not disappointed! We ordered the meal for two which came with 1/2 chicken, 5 wings, and 2 sides. We opted for the lemon & herb spice for our 1/2 chicken, mango & lime spice for the wings, and garlic bread & spiced fries for our sides. It was the perfect amount of food for a great price, and everything was absolutely delicious! The servers were also attentive and friendly -- everything about the experience here was great. Will definitely be back!

Chicken cooked with unique sweet and spicy flavors. If you dine in, there's a selection of sauces at each table so you can experiment with the whole flavor range.

Excellent peri peri! Absolutely on point! I haven't had peri peri this good in years... and I've been searching. Everything was so good. The chicken was grilled perfectly and had the right amount of sauce. The chicken was crispy outside but flavorful and juicy inside. The rice corn and coleslaw paired nicely together and complemented the meal. It's open late and I'm glad i decided to stop in and give it a try.

I've been to Frangos Peri Peri before and I must say, the more I go, the more I fall in love with it. The food is absolutely delicious and halal which makes it easy to take my family to. It's a small place but from what I've seen, most of their orders are takeout so if you chose to, you can definitely dine in (even as a large group on a weekend). Aforementioned, the lamb chops are a must in my book, but honestly anything here is great. I hope to return here again with my family.

Nice service, good fresh food, love the mango sauce and also the garlic herb. Definitely will be coming back !

Was expecting something very good from the high ratings but the main star, the chicken, was kinda disappointing. My brother and I got the Peri for Two takeout which portion-wise is clearly enough. Maybe it was just the wrong choice of sauce or what but lemon & herb was not it. It was thick and gritty with a strong lemon taste and I don't mean it was sour either. The chicken pieces were coated thoroughly with the sauce. Good thing there was a small cup of spicy sauce which somewhat helped. The coleslaw was standard. Also, the chicken was grilled for too long on one side to the point it's burnt, not very pleasing taste. The chicken breast was super dry as well. The seasoned fries were the best part.

This place was delicious! They have a small outdoor tent set up and weren't too busy on a Friday night. Given how amazing their food was, I was surprised there weren't more people in line! The chicken was tender and flavorful. You can pick which sauce to go on top of the chicken and when the food arrive, they also give you all the 6 sauces on the side. We got our chicken with the hot sauce and I dipped my pieces in garlic and herb. It was perfect. For the sides, the seasoned fries were addictive!!! Highly recommend this. The jalapeño poppers were pretty good too though probably not the best deal for the sides. Would definitely come back! Such a great restaurant

Clearly the sauce was only on the surface..

Stop by for a takeout meal, seemed like a solo business. Really want to support restaurants especially due to the current NY situation. However, quite disappointed. Came in right when it's open at 12pm. Ordered a chicken togo. From the moment I came in and left, no eye contact from the chef/host, definitely feels the cold and unfriendliness. He's also solo so he cook and take order and pass order himself. I hope he washes his hands (very sensitive right now) honestly I'm not sure. Also all table has a water bottle already filled with water, also I'm not sure that's a good idea and I would not want to drink that water if the table has been emptied if for even 30 minutes without a cover .. Here comes the food, uhm.... I've had many peri chicken and this one was quite not okay. The sauce was acceptable but only sit on top of the chicken skin. The meat has no flavor at all. Especially since I don't eat the chicken skin, after taking the skin off, I was left with a flavorless chicken. I'm sorry to leave this review but you gotta love what you are doing if you want to own and operate a restaurant in NYC. Cooking a good chicken is not that hard and you gotta just spend the time to marinate it instead of just dumping some sauce on too when you serve it.

I can't remember what it was like prior to the call for social distancing. This was the weekend before it all went down when we decided to try Peri Peri for our monthly eating adventures. It was a very cute space with water and sauces already placed on each individual table. There was only one person working during the lunch hours. We had to order in the front. The garlic bread was heavenly. The fries were nice and crunchy though the "spicy fries" were more like Cajun fries. The lamb chops were good. I forget which sauce we got, but the wings and the chicken were a but too sauce-y. The burger was very interesting in a weird way. We all agreed that we would not get it again. It tasted artificial. I hope this small business survives the COVID pandemic.

More peri peri and that's grand! Sit down spot in the East Village brings the flavors. Already addicted to Portugrill I hopped over for lunch. Multiple sauces and cute folksy seating. The sauces remind me more of LLo's seafood shack uptown than simple peri peri, but whatever. Ate: Peri peri shrimp Grilled cauliflower Total$16 The food was really delicious but a charge of $3 for white meat on a quarter chicken seems excessive

Truly loved this restaurant. Nice little cozy spot , it's fast causal. Had a great dinner there. Chef Barry was very helpful and guided us , and suggested things . Overall the food is really good and very different. You won't find this flavor every where else. Peri Peri Sauce is a hot sauce made using Piri Piri or African Bird's eye chillies. Recipe also uses red peppers, red onions and garlic but the show stealer of this sauce is African Red Chilli or Bird's Eye Chilli. We got a bit of everything from Wings Roulette to Lamb Chops . Wings Roulette is a great starter as it comes with all flavors. We also did the chicken thighs , nice and juicy boneless cut packed with flavors. Lamb chops and the sides were amazing , especially the FRIES. Also the place is Halal Certified Ambiance- 10/10 Service - 10/10 WiFi - Not Sure Parking - Street Reservation - Not Needed They are on Multiple platforms like THECRAVEAPP

I love this place. Not only because the food tastes amazing but it tastes just like Nandos. It's everything I was looking for in a peri peri chicken. The price is perfect for the amount of food you get Their chickens are amazing and so are the wings! The fries are well seasoned. The half chicken comes with 2 chicken leg+thighs. Whole chicken comes with 4 of those and so on. The burgers are a bit small but its packed with flavors. Plenty of parking spots around the area too so if you wanna come here with your car then go for it. I ate at this place for 3 days straight and regret nothing. Its perfect.

The food and drinks were really good and the staff were working hard to keep up with the overwhelming amount of people. I read that Lagos has great food and drinks and they did not disappoint. Lagos decor was exquisite and on point. It was great admiring the display of artifacts on the walls. It was also a great place to people watch. My fiancé ordered a Yassa Yassa Grilled Chicken Bowl and I ordered a custom bowl. The delivery was very quick and it got to where we were faster than I expected which was a plus. Service was very good! I got a call saying one of the sauces I wanted was out unfortunately but they were helpful in providing me with alternatives. The Yassa Yassa bowl was very delicious, full of bold flavors, and a beautiful contrast between the spicy aromatic jollof, the sweet plantains, and the tangy onion sauce. The chicken in this bowl was definitely a little overdone and could have used more flavor. For my custom bowl, I got a chicken suya bowl with jollof as my base, plantains and the kale stew (Efo riro ) as sides and initially wanted the peanut (mafe) sauce which they were out of so I also tried the yassa or onion sauce. My bowl was absolutely delicious! Same bold flavors as the first bowl but the chicken was juicy, tender, and well spiced. Made all the difference! Both came with a nice chimichurri like spicy sauce called rof which I really enjoyed since it added a spicy, herbal, bright kick to the bowl. This place has amazing flavor and is very filling! I love the fast casual nature of it and how nourishing it feels. This is basically a Chipotle but West African inspired. The portion of meat was very generous in each bowl which was nice. The jollof was amazing! Highly recommend trying one of their suya meats since the seasoning is incomparable! Will be going back again for more bowls in the future.

Chef Kwame Onwuachi's Afro-Caribbean masterpiece tucked inside Lincoln Center is the kind of meal that makes you go quiet mid-bite. We ordered the Bodega Special, oxtails, Mom Duke's shrimp, the wings, and the collards, and every single dish was a 10 out of 10. No weak links. No "it's fine." Just plate after plate of food that made me want to stand up and applaud. (We're at Lincoln Center, it felt appropriate.) The oxtails were fall-off-the-bone tender with a rich, glossy sauce that had layers I'm still thinking about. Mom Duke's shrimp arrived dramatic and beautiful, whole shrimp in a deeply spiced sauce that felt simultaneously fancy and deeply soulful. The collards were unlike any I've had. Complex broth, perfect greens, gorgeous presentation with edible flowers that somehow made the dish feel even more intentional. How is a bowl of collards this exciting?! And then. THE WINGS. I don't throw around "best wings of my life" lightly. I have eaten a LOT of wings. These wings broke my brain. That glaze, that crunch, those dipping sauces. I genuinely don't know what Chef Kwame did to them but it should be illegal. Life changing. I will be back for the wings alone. The room is stunning, the plating is stunning, the whole vibe is fun and lively and cool without trying too hard. This is the best meal I've had in New York in years, and I live here. Book it the second Resy drops the reservations. Do not sleep on it. Do whatever it takes to get a table. You will not regret it.

I didn't even like the cosmic brownie. :(…read more Over and over during my ten-year anniversary dinner at Tatiana, I kept thinking some variation of: "is this it?" This is the best restaurant in the entire city according to the NYT and various knowledgeable food-fluencers? What are they so excited about? I think Tatiana's high-low is great for two groups of people: a snooty Columbus Circle crowd thrilled by the novelty of elevated and safe Real New York Cuisine that makes them look woke; and well-seasoned ordinary New Yorkers who are gratified to see their culture and childhood getting its fancy due. But there are better ways to experience NYC's particular brand of global African diasporic food, and better places to have a fancy dinner. My husband is from Jamaica, where complaining about a restaurant's rendition of any Caribbean dish is something approaching a national sport. But I think he nailed Tatiana's problem when he tried the goat curry patties, hesitated for a moment, then said, "it's like ... they want to elevate this, but they haven't taken time to get the basics of a patty right yet." I'm a vegetarian who doesn't know Jamaican cuisine, but I had the same reaction to the scallion pancake: this isn't a good scallion pancake. Where's the crisp? Where's the sesame oil? Why is it so thick? You gotta nail that before you start innovating. A lot of Tatiana is fine but ordinary: a bright piri piri salad with lots of avocado, a spicy margarita that tasted like a watermelon jolly rancher, cornbread with some kind of eggy butter, okra sliced lengthwise and fried within an inch of its life, a brownie and ice cream masquerading as bodega snacks, a loud soundtrack that overpowers conversation, and decor that could have been a fancy hotel lobby in Cincinnati. I don't think I was missing anything in the long months of no reservations, and I won't be back. I get all the winks and nods to the experience of Chef Kwame's upbringing in NYC: a world of takeout Chinese food, Jamaican patty shops, egusi, bodega chopped cheeses and Hostess donettes. But I'd submit that those ordinary originals are perfect, and I found these elevated reinterpretations paradoxically ordinary. You want to experience real New York, even though you never had a student MetroCard? It's out there. Go forth!

The setup inside this dimly lit restaurant had a bunch of steam tables offering various beef and chicken dishes, a handful of rice options, and a bunch of salads/fruits. Having no idea what we were looking at, we asked the friendly owner for some advice. After some contemplation, two of us made a plate with all beef over some jollof rice, and another with basically all chicken items over a different type of flavorful rice. We knew it was too much, but our goal was to figure out what we would come back for. Honestly, I did not enjoy most of the chicken because it's sitting in steam trays getting overcooked. Not saying they were terrible, but it all fails in comparison to all the great beef offerings. OMG! You really can't go wrong with any of the beef dishes. The fufu is your utensil. You pinch a piece, dip it into a stew, and that's your bite. I didn't get a stew this time so I kind of freestyled it... dipped mine into the jollof rice with that tomato/meat sauce they put on top and grabbed some lamb. Still hit. One thing to know: there's no traditional restroom setup to wash your hands. They'll bring out a bucket of water and liquid soap so you can clean up at the table. It's normal, but if that's not your thing, just bring hand sanitizer and you'll be good.

The jollof rice was a simple rendition of perfectly seasoned, fluffy rice that packed deep West African spice with every bite. The accompanying red chicken stew was addictively tangy and had enough spice to singe the taste buds. So yummy. The spinach had an unctuous vegetative flavor that paired nicely with the dough-y mellow fufu. The only thing I didn't like was the bits of fish cooked in that still contained bones. Felt like I had to be cautious going through the spinach. The big fried fish pieces were simple and tasty but had a similar but lesser problem. A bit of a first world problem, I know, but it makes the experience just slightly less enjoyable. The hibiscus drink was perfumed with floral sweet and sour. Service: Service was immaculate. The wonderful staff behind the counter asked if it was our first time and had us sampling all the different rices and stews/soups to make sure we liked what we ordered. Ambiance: Very much a hole in the wall in East Harlem with very few tables. Simple but effective. The predominant foot traffic was all the food service drivers coming in and out of the establishment (which there was a healthy flow of).
