We recently ordered over $50 worth of food and we enjoyed every bit of it until we got to the fries. The fries were completely undercooked, which was a shock to us because we've never had this happen from them. I called them to let them know, the owner I believe is the man, handed the phone over to the older lady who takes orders at the till. I let her know that our fries were undercooked. Instantly, she cut me off and said "No our fries are crispy, so that's not true." (It was crispy on the outside, uncooked inside). The attitude completely shocked me. I continued stating my experience and she continued to speak over me, denying they're undercooked, and saying no one has complained about the food. My mother then told her that nobody is perfect, they made a simple mistake, and we are calling as customers to give feedback. She started shouting at my mother and calling us liars. She was yelling on the phone saying "this doesn't have anything to do with customer service because we don't have problems with our food, and everybody has the same batch of fries. You can come and get new ones but I don't believe what you're saying." When I asked to speak to the man who I believe is the owner, she didn't allow me to. There are negative reviews online that didn't deter us, even though there were some regarding her. One that was very recent regarding her 'unwelcoming' attitude, which is very accurate with the experiences some have had with her. But I always brushed it to the side. Common courtesy is to apologize for the mistake, but she said they don't make mistakes. I have never ever experienced this type of rudeness, unprofessionalism, and lack of accountability from an establishment. I am honestly so upset because we've loved their food and I've referred a lot of people to them. Please, Gyro Grill, have some decency. read more

My husband and I decided to check out this local gem after being in Maricopa for almost 2 years and we were pleasantly surprised with how lovely everything was. We both had the gyro plate and the lamb and spiced beef were outstanding. We also had the baklava and it was delightfully delectable but not too sweet. A perfect balance! My favorite aspect was the service. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I never once felt like I was bothering the staff and they were genuinely glad to answer my questions. We will definitely be coming back and we highly recommend everyone add this restaurant to their round robin when deciding where to eat. Ps. I have patronized this ONLY greek restaurant in Maricopa since moving here nearly four years ago. Until today I thought that things were at least decent. Today's experience was unacceptable in more ways than one. My daughter, a more frequent customer than my wife and I, ordered meals for herself and us. For us she ordered the chicken kabob plate with rice and salad. I asked her to ask if they could simply add an additional kabob to the order since my wife and I were splitting it and put the salad in a separate container. My daughter called me to tell me that they could separate the salad but would not add an additional kabob, even if we wanted to pay for it. When my daughter brought it home and I opened the box I saw 6 pieces of chicken, lots more rice, and a lot more salad in a separate container. In my experiences with this establishment I was under the impression that I was getting more than simply 6 pieces of chicken. When my wife saw the food, still untouched, she was unhappy enough to go to the effort of bagging it back up and heading out the door to return it to the establishment or get an extra kabob. She was greeted by the cook, 10 minutes before closing, informing her that the food had left the building and that he could not give her a refund. Ridiculous! So we are supposed to accept something that we paid for that was not what we were expecting? After the gentleman told her that he could not take it back or give her a refund because the food had already left the building my wife proceeded to inform him that there was no clear and obvious statement of that policy visible in the establishment. He insisted that there was nothing that he could do and that she would have to wait on the manger that was due to arrive by 9am. She opted to wait. Mind you, this could have all been easily remedied by offering the option for my wife to pay for the additional kabob, get a full refund, get a store credit to be redeemed at a later time or even maybe simply a soda. When the manage arrived she fully refunded my wife and he took the food back and disposed of it behind the counter. Not sure about health violation implications but something doesn't seem quite right about that process. This could have been easily resolved with the offering of options and focus on customer service. To say that I am shocked by this experience is would be a gross understatement. My previous experiences had been good. But to deny me extra chicken, even with my willingness to pay for it, and end up throwing away a box of food where you loaded me up with three times the normal rice and twice the amount of salad is I unconscionable. The customer service experience is critical to continuing success. This was a considerable blemish and stain on this one. read more

I have often seen gyro offerings but never took the stab on trying them. While visiting my brother in Arizona, he suggested eating at the Gyro Grill which they frequent. I was up for it and we stopped in for some Greek dinning. Gyro Grill is located in a strip mall and has plenty of parking. The outside looks very nice. The inside is basic tables and nothing fancy. The counter is small so the line can build up quickly with just a few people in it. From the counter, you have an excellent view of the offerings including the rotating meat they shave pieces off for your selection. I went with the Gyro Wrap as did most in our party. The food was delivered quickly and we all dug in. The Gyro Wrap reminds me of a thick soft taco more than anything. Don't let that fool you, though, because this is nothing like a taco. It's much better. The shaved meat is composed of finely ground beef mixed with lamb which tastes amazing. Added on top is a Greek white sauce that was wonderful. I'm getting hungry as I type this! The Gyro Wrap tasted fresh and not greasy as one may expect. In short, it was delightful. I grabbed a few of my nephews fries and those were mighty tasty if I say so myself! I have to say, I am excited to visit my brother again and come back to Gyro Grill and enjoy some great Greek food. Yum! We've had Gyro Grill twice while visiting Maricopa. Quality and taste of food is fresh and delicious. It would be nice if they were better about answering the phone. I called four times before I got through to place a pick-up order. We got to the restaurant early and while the cook was working efficiently and as fast as possible to make orders, it seemed the cashier was just standing around. I saw the cashier ignore the phone ringing and at one point he purposely picked up the phone to hang it up. My guess is the cashier was a family member helping out the business and didn't want to be there. I understand a business being too busy to answer calls but purposely hanging up the phone like that is not a good practice. I'm hoping it was an off night for them and will still rate 5-stars based on the food and how courteous the cook was to us. We recommend trying the Gyro Plate, Gyro Wrap, and Veggie Plate. read more
