Honestly when I went inside to order there was three men behind the counter. one man in the kitchen sitting & vaping. I ordered a plater & 1 lamb chop at the counter. that gentleman was very professional. The total was $32, which surprised me. the rice was bland with one slice of green pepper. the meat was very dry but flavorful. I added the lettuce, onions and the one tomato (they called it a salad) into the rice to create a crunch. Didn't eat it all as the porton size was for two..... I will not go there again. read more

This place is a hole in the wall next to a gas station. It doesn't look like much, but they make as good a gyro (and fries!) as I've found. The meat is tender and perfectly spiced. The sauce (tzatziki?) is creamy, tangy, and lightly herbaceous. The pita is puffy, with just the right amount of chewiness. The fries are lightly battered, and are crispy outside and pillowy and steaming inside--if you get them to go, make sure you can dig into them before they have a chance to get soggy from steam inside the styrofoam tray. read more

This place is excellent! It is a hole in the wall Middle Eastern spot that has reasonably priced food, great gyros and amazing fries. When I went, it was take out only and the neighborhood was not great around the restaurant, but the food was on point it was very reasonably priced. I got the #28 lamb gyro with fries and a drink. Gyro was very good, a little too much sauce in my personal opinion but I just used a napkin to wipe a little away. The fries were really good with a good crisp when you bite into them. Don't judge by the outside look. This little hole in the wall is great. They have a large menu above the register. I asked for some help, and the young man behind the counter recommended the 21. It has chicken, peppers, onions, and rice. The amount of food was enough for two. The smell was good. I watched the cook making magic as he cooked the food. We tried Gyro Kabob House yesterday for lunch and this small restaurant has amazing food. There are so few gyro places that have lamb. Usually it is lamb mixed with beef and I have an intolerance to beef so I have to be careful or I'll get sick. I had the Lamb Shishlik which is: Grilled lamb with a stir-fry of veggies. Onions, tomatoes, green peppers, crushed hot peppers and mushrooms. My friend had the Beef shishlik no mushrooms. My friend has an allergy to mushrooms and they were great working around that. The food was well seasoned the pita was soft and fluffy like a good pita should be. The white sauce was yummy, and yes that is what it is called. Ambiance- This place can seat about 15 people and the person at the register also cooks the food. He served us as well and was polite and willing to explain things to us but we were ok. He helped other people that came in after us and was very efficient and kind. We will be back cannot wait to try other items on the menu!! read more

Though the environment is very simple and plain and seating is limited, the food is tasty and service is quick. You simply order on the counter and get your drinks/deserts/other refrigerated food items from the fridge, and they'll call you when your food is ready! My boyfriend who has a strong aversion to cilantro was still able to enjoy the food. They serve the shshlik with half cilantro rice and half brown rice but the spices of the overall dish made the cilantro manageable for my partner. My wife, who is easy to please, wasn't pleased. I didn't finish my falafel. It was sweet, yuck, why? It was also slathered in unappetizing sauce, was it supposed to be tahini? The hummus didn't taste like hummus, just odd. My daughter doesn't like mid eastern food, so she got chicken tenders, which I don't expect to be good from this type of place. A consistent, delicious gyro. A stop I go out of my way to make since the first time I did it. Softest pita, great meat that always taste fresh, and amazing accompaniments. I've tried other items, like sides, but the gyro is the item that really shines through. Staff is always kind. It's just a small little restaurant, and I'm only ever passing through so I'll just eat in my car in the parking lot, but I've definitely seen families and couples sitting down and eating in there. We found this no frills, small kabob restaurant off the highway on one of our road trips to DC when we pulled over for gas. If you know about kabob spots, you know little spots like this pack that flavor! We decided on the Chicken Tika and Beef Kofta With rice as well as the Chicken Tika which wasn't on the menu but they were kind enough to accommodate since the wife doesn't eat beef. Our meals were wonderful, as expected. The spices were perfect and our dishes came with two different types of rice. The most memorable to me was the cilantro rice. As a Latina who loves cilantro, I've never had rice like this. It was sooo flavorful!! Overall, the service and food were delish!! It's so good I have to write a review again. The food is so yummy, that it is hard to try something new for fear of missing out. The flavor very consistent.. you can order something years from now, and it will taste the same as today. I usually order in large amounts- for 8-12 people. we have been get food from this place for the last 15 years and have recommended them to many friends. they were known for their delectable food. today I was so disappointed with the quality of the gyro and even more disappointed that when I called to let them know that the pita bread was like a hard shell taco .. there was no attempt at service recovery. the person on the phone was extremely nonchalant and said.. we were busy and it stayed on the grill for too long. not that the owner cares but you just lost a customer not for the one off food but for your non existent customer service.. try the word sorry sometimes.. it might just make a difference. that is all I was looking for! read more

We were stopping at the Biden Welcome Center to charge our car and get some food, but thanks to Corona, Burger King was the only food option open inside... so I got on Yelp and thankfully this gem came up and was only a 4 minute drive away from the rest area! Excellent Gyro. Soft and chewy pita. Gyro has fresh veggies. Sauce is cool and tastes of dill, tarragon, and mint. The lamb is well executed and served in large chunks. It is very savoury and properly seasoned. The portion is generous and we'll balanced in coolness and meatiness. I've been missing getting delicious Gyro Sammies and Platters since moving to Southern New Jersey from NNJ/NYC. I work in Wilmington and my friend put me on. Oh my goodness. I've now had the gyro pita Sammie and the NY Platter (chopped pita and lamb over rice). Delicious. And the server both times - very friendly and welcoming. I can't believe I have not reviewed this place yet. Gyro Kabob House used to be my goto place when I stayed in Delaware. Let me describe the experience. So you enter the place and it looks like a regular small fast food place with a TV and few tables. The line to order food keeps growing and sometimes is out of the door. So be prepared to wait. The menu is standard Mediterranean food with falafel and gyros. You place order and wait for it to come out. Heavy use of plastics even if you are dining in. What differentaties is the food quality, people and free chai. Let me start with chai (tea with milk). They have a pot out there for yuh out to enjoy tea while you wait for your food. It's a bit on the sweeter side but always warm and has strong cardamom flavor. Really very good. The people are very attentive and polite. The guy keeps a look out for you even if he is extremely busy. Kudos. Finally, food tastes awesome. Well cooked meat full of flavors. Their white sauce is excellent. Loved it. Also, the prices are very reasonable like around $7-$12. They have family menu options which might be cheaper if you are a large party. Few things you should note - no restrooms. Could not find any. And, if you take things to-go then they charge you 50 cents for sauces which typically is free when you dine in. Overall, I highly recommend this place for some good-ol Mediterranean food. read more

Final conclusion: I thought that the falafel was good here, but I think that I still prefer the food cart in Newark...just my personal preference.
