As an Iranian, I was excited to find a Persian spot near Philly. The kashke bademjan and salad shiraz were really good! However, the chicken and rice were quite dry, and the baklava was okay but not my favorite. We were glad to discover this amazing place . The food is authentic and the service was amazing . The servers were super friendly and responsive . My son has an egg and nuts allergy and they were very accommodating for that . They double checked everything before serving , which we really appreciated . The decor of the restaurant is sort of a snap shot from a Persian restaurant from the 80s but that gives it a retro authentic look . Maybe playing Persian music would add to the environment even more . We order the Jojeih and barg kebab as well Fasenjoon.. Also ordered Humus and lentil soup . We enjoyed a delicious early dinner at Persian Grill. I've been expanding my culinary palette and dining here was delightful. The menu has plenty of meat and vegetarian options. The hummus appetizer was smooth and flavorful. The crispy and chewy pitas were excellent! For the entree, I ordered the Khoresh Fesenjan, a stew that tastes nothing like it looks. A rich sauce of walnut and pomegranate gives it a sweetness that complements the chicken. The basmati rice is as fluffy as it gets- perfect! The baklava was interesting, more of a spice cake taste than others I've had (Turkish/Greek baklava tend to be more heavy, drenched in honey and sweet, which I love). The service was quick and pleasant and the portion size is very generous. Looking forward to coming again and trying something else. read more

We were a party of six. We split two appetizers, hummus and an eggplant. The hummus is different from Middle East variety. It is thinner and creamer. The Mirza -Ghesemi, smoked eggplant akin to baba ghanoush, but chunkier. Both delicious. We had the chicken kabobs. Delicious. The Shirin Polo, a delicious dish that is served at Persian weddings made with Cornish hen and basmati rice and saffron, orange peel and sauce with . This means it's sweet. Too sweet for a full portion for us, but as said delicious. Adidas Polo lamb, ground beef. Other dishes were two different Persian stews. They were also delicious. One was sweeter than the other. Dessert was rose water, saffron pistachio ice cream. All loved it. Service was a minor issue. The server brought five waters, and had to be reminded about the sixth. Also about a sixth set up. She was very pleasant and apologized. Other reviewers praised the service, but that's why it lost a star. It is a destination. read more

For my last review of 2020 - a year like no other - it's time to eat Persian again. This time in an old standby restaurant right outside of Chestnut Hill called the Persian Grill. Of course because of pandemic restrictions, only take out was available but it was a good decision as it made for a nice feast for a friend and I back at my place. I'm gonna say this up front - Persian Grill does not serve the most delicious Persian (Iranian) food I've ever eaten (there are a few Persian spots in Vienna I would rate higher) but it does cook up tasty food in good portions at a decent price. And so many Persian favorites are on the menu. I began my meal last week with Mirza Ghasemi - a smoky and grilled egg plant + dish with a bit of egg. We also had a Moost O-Moosir appetizer (think seasoned yogurt here). Both of these were accompanied by pita bread. An Ash Reshteh soup was next and fortunately was laden with veggies. This soup also contains kashk (whey) and caramelized garlic. Of course my favorite dish always is Khoresh Fesenjan -over basmati saffron rice. The chicken was delicately cooked in the well-known sauce consisting of pomegranate, walnuts, and molasses It's a winner. Persian Grill is good to know about when you want to change up your usual bill-of-fare and delve into one of the world's oldest cuisines. read more

Aside from that, though, they're pretty good about gluten-free options, which was helpful. I think we'll be back again for some more takeout! I have tried Persian food in various restaurants here in the Bay Area and I can confidently say that I have never had better Persian food than this place. The first time I went there, I ordered Mirza Ghasemi and Halim Bademjoon. Both of them were on point. Then I ordered rice and Kabab Koobideh (both lamb and chicken). Honestly, I have never had better Koobideh anywhere in my life. They were so authentic, tender and juicy. Finally, I ordered Baklava and that was equally amazing. I absolutely fell in love with that place and during my 5 days visit, I went there 3 times, driving 30+ minutes. A shout out to the friendly servers and cozy ambience. There are very few good middle eastern and Persian restaurants in this area and this is one of the best. Their kababs are really good however I prefer other stuff on the menu. I really like chicken fasnjoon and spinach sabzi both are amazing. Here we come to their masterpiece which is the Persian ice cream. Something extraordinary. The Lamb Kubideh was not good at all. the awful smell of the Lamb used was overpowering every bite, I could not eat it. "hint Lamb Should not have this strong smell. The Barg Kabob had way too much spice or simply was too old. It had lost texture and flavor. Once we ordered though the food came our really quickly. Would have been nice to have had a bit of time to just sit back, enjoy the night and apps before diving into the main course. I ordered E17 (if I remember correctly lol) a lamb kebabs with rice. I've already said how AMAZING the kebabs were.. the rice too was awesome - so soft, fluffy, and tasty! E16 was chicken kebabs and those too were yummy! Also tried the eggplant dish (V7 I think?). It was mashed eggplant with some spices and garlic etc. pretty good! The lamb chops were good too but not as awesome as the lamb kebabs. Overall, the food was OUTSTANDING, except for the pita bread. Recently went to Persian Grill with a large party to celebrate a graduation. The staff was very accommodating and courteous. The service was pristine and quick as well. The only disappointment was the food. We all grew up cooking and eating Persian food so our standards were not low. However, there are no other Persian restaurants in the area so if you're craving something similar to Persian cuisine, it can do the trick. We started with Kashke Bandamjan, sabzi paneer, salad Shirazi, maast o kheir, and khoresht tahdig. The khoresht tahdig was my favorite part of the meal. The ghymieh was solid and the tahdig was nice and crispy. The rest of the appetizers were good as well. For my entree, I tried the Zereshk polo with the Cornish hen, khoresht karafs with chicken, and the chicken tender kabobs. The zereshk polo and Cornish hen were extremely sweet to the point you couldn't eat too much of it. The khoresht karafs was more like a soup with an oil and water based broth. There were minimal greens and flavor. Lastly, the chicken tender kabobs were good and the plain basmati rice was fluffy and buttery. Again, not the best Persian food but it can do the job if you're craving it and there are no other options. read more

I would give this restaurant 4-stars except for the chicken. Sometimes it has a texture that is not like real chicken. I'm not sure why. I have found the same problem in a few other restaurants. Maybe it's some kind of processed chicken? I don't know, but I don't like it. The weird thing is that not all of the chicken has this texture. On a kebab you might find that half of the chunks of chicken taste like real chicken. I have taken to ordering the ground chicken (which I love) or combining the ground chicken with a skewer of beef. I love the tahdig (burned rice on the bottom of the pot). It usually comes standard with the rice but one time it didn't, so now I always ask for it. Their menu would be complete if they offered toum. They do have a garlic sauce but it is not the same. read more

They serve authentic persian food. Best kashke bademjoon and mirzaghasemi ever! You can smell the smoked eggplant and garlic... so gooood! Also I had soltani and barg combo there. I liked them all. Other time I had khoresht gheime and khoresht ghorme sabzi, they were goof but a little bit watery. Other thab that everything else was perfect. BTW, don't forget to try the Saffron ice cream there!
