    Lamb combo

It's halal food from a street card and it's exactly what you thought it would be and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that - solid portion for $6 (lamb combo) - Decent line (15 min wait) which means you know it's good - Pretty good flavor - You feel like crap afterward and want to take a nap after They throw some greens and tomatoes in the combo platter also.

Came here for lunch today. Got the mix over rice for $7. The lamb and chicken I think are seasoned well on their own. The red and white sauce are watered down and add something not as desired to the flavor. Loss of a star for these. The hot sauce is decently hot for once. The mini salad is better than most as it has better greens and eggplant. Nice guys and I'm sure I'll be back, but will try one of the other five carts first.

Absolutely my go to cart in the FiDi! It's easily noticeable as it's the only real truck/vehicle in the Zuccotti Park area and on the front of the truck it states Gyro House. It's also situated away from the rest of its competitors on the SE corner of Cedar St and Broadway. As for the food, it is not only delicious, but extremely filling! The chicken and lamb tastes so much fresher than the other carts and they give you your money's worth inside the box. Many carts just add lettuce and tomatoes, but gyro house adds onions, chopped peppers and zucchini in there as well! You're not going to find too many carts that add all of those ingredients. My coworkers were going to a few different carts over the last few years and I took them here once. They also agreed that the flavors in the chicken/lamb over rice here are amazing and the serving size is more than they could ask for! For $6 (which is typically the going price these days for street meat chicken/lamb over rice), it is totally worth the price if you get it from here!

The quest to find the best halal cart never ceases! I was sitting at my desk 12am at night looking for a cart still open. Bam, Gyrohouse was open! and its a TRUCK! Rice: OMG, when I got my order, I nearly dropped it as my hands were burned from the extremely hot box! While most chicken rice plates are hot, usually that's just the meat. They kept their rice hot in a rice cooker! Speaking of rice, their rice is more on the fragrant side, almost floral. Hot moist and fragrant rice! Its great that one can actually enjoy the smell of the rice before even eating it. Chicken: The general characteristic the chicken rice was moist. The chicken was moist, the rice was moist.Besides chicken, there was chopped peppers and onions in the mix. Kinda of like fjita veggies. Reminded me of a Mexican take on the chicken plate. The salad was fairly simple, its basically fresh lettuce with a few pieces of tomatoes. Sauce I took a taste of the sauces and immediately I was like "mmmm...MMMM?" The white sauce was on the tangy and sweet side, kinda like Japanese mayo. Hot sauce was sriracha! This blend created a different but enjoyable tangy spicy profile, unlike other carts. All the ingredients had a very distinctive twist in taste compared to your o your standard halal cart. This kept the oohs and aahs rolling bite after bite. Pleasant surprise indeed. $7 for chicken plate, so not the cheapest of the carts.

Outstanding quality and generous quantity...and fresh chickpeas, fried onions, cucumber etc makes this unique! I visit here because it's close to my workplace but even if it were not so, I would make a trip once a month just to relish it!

I got a mixed plate over rice and salad $6.50 and $1 for a can of soda. It's was okay, the meat was average, chicken and lamb taster the same. The rice was neutral, the plate automatically comes with white rice with a few spices in it. The salad was mostly white, not much of greens and did not look or tasted nutritious. Just fills you up.

    Chicken over Rice ($5)

I don't know if this truck replaced the 'Halal 'Frito Lay' Truck' or this is the Frito Lay Truck. Signs point to that it is the Frito Lay truck because you can still see one of the logos above the passenger side door. The truck looks exactly the same, however the staff is different and the meat seems to be cooked slightly different, unless if it's because I haven't been here for a while. Gyro House makes a notably delicious chicken over rice for $5. I also asked to try the lamb which the chef gladly threw a couple slices on top. The chicken was tender and flavorful, good and exactly what one would come to expect. I received a couple slices of lamb from the outside of doner kebab, which resulted in a very crispy side with moist ground lamb underneath. It was not as salty as the prior vendor, making for a much better lamb. The yellow rice was heavily seasoned, though not to the point where you would gag, making for a yummy rice mixed with sauteed diced onions. The salad was typical with the shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes, but the addition of very bitter cubes of zucchini kind of threw me off and made me gag once or twice. I never knew zuchinni could be that bitter!! As for the sauces, white sauce was standard, but thumbs up for their hot sauce which actually had some decent heat. Enough to really hit me in the back of the throat. Generous portions, decent lines signifying a strong following, and a hot sauce that actually packs some heat. I think Gyro House is definitely a step up from its counterpart, the Frito Lay truck. My coworker ordered the Falafel Platter for $5 which actually seemed quite interesting with French Fries and an assortment of colorful vegetables (peppers, pickles, etc.). I may have to come back and check that dish out.

The platter comes with perfectly seasoned chicken over rice, along with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I don't go as much as I use to, as the price has more than doubled since 2017/18. However, that has nothing to do with my rating. My problem is that meats have gone downhill. I used to love gyro meat - never sure what it was exactly lamb or beef - but now it is just gross and greasy. The chicken which used to be excellent is now very dry. The white sauce is great and the rice is fine, but that is it. Not worth getting anymore. Maybe one of their competitors is better, can't really be worse.
