Spicy Buyurdi in Clay Pot - Yum!
    Todd B.

Been coming to this unassuming place in Rockville for several years and it never disappoints. This is high quality, authentically prepared Greek fare. Speaking with the owner, Gyroland takes great pains to ensure all produce is fresh. If it's not, they toss it out, not foist it on customers. The Spicy Buyurdi in claypot is an example of ultra fresh ingredients as a vegetarians' delight with a mix of peppers and onions. On the meat side - the bifteki is moist and flavorful. Hard to go wrong - unless it's a close-by parking space you're after. But, walking off a meal at Gyroland IS one of life's great enjoyments!

This place is a hidden gem with great fresh ingredients and a laid back atmosphere! Well worth giving it a try.

Lovely local place for great Greek food! Decided to split the mix grill platter for two. It was a lot of meat but very delicious! The beef and lamb gyro was our favorite, so flavorful! The sausages also stood out. Service was pretty quick. It can get a bit warm in there but we were able to sit next to an air conditioner which helped.

Gyro wrap... very little fries with combo and we're soggy after wrapped with gyro... okay, not great.

Too small of fries stuffed in wrap. Fries soggy and gyro jyst okay. Service was good, store was clean. No lamb ready by lunch time.

Let me start off by saying that the food was really good. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great. The service was not that great though. The person at the front didn't greet us and didn't help us in any way to order. After we ordered he told us that they didn't offer and water unless you wanted to buy the bottles in the fridge. But the table next to us got water which I found weird. We waited a pretty long time before the food came out. The platter that we got was great but we also got the assortment of dips and that was a really big let down for $15. I didn't feel like it was worth it but the platter was.

I've stopped in here a few times in the past two years, and are very consistent in their food quality and customer service... I usually get a Beef & Lamb Gyro wrap or platter. I always intend to order Falafels, but I just love Gyros a bit more I guess....

Not the first time here but love it every time we come. The food is delicious!!! We order a platter for two and always take quarter of it home. Meat is always fresh, onions are well seasoned (like it used to be at home - Central Asia), fries are homemade and bread is always fresh. Yummy!! They have a seating area for dine-in, small cute blue square tables for 2-4 people. Perfect for kids (have high chairs). Plenty of parking. A good place for a quick (not quick read below;) bite, pick-up and local foodies. The only downside is that you have to buy water (they don't provide water or even cups for drinks you buy). They are very slow with cleaning tables, and prep orders for dine-in. We always wait for at least 35-40 min to get our food. The cashier(maybe manager maybe owner) never smiles, never follows up, so be prepared for it. Will I come back? Definitely for food not the service. At the end of the day, the taste is what matters.

Stopped by this charming Greek bistro on the south periphery of Congressional Plaza (SW side of Halpine Road, fairly close to Rockville Pike) on a lark after running errands. I ordered four dishes to-go for my senior parents and myself, including a gyro wrap, a falafel wrap, a souvlaki wrap, and spanakopita. The meal was a very big hit with my folks, who are fairly well-traveled and enjoy all sorts of global cuisines. I found the wraps not only flavorful but fresh and the delicious tzatziki sauce was such a nice complement. When I dine on site I plan to size up to the open/platter versions; I definitely want to explore more of Gyroland's menu.

Had an enjoyable experience here. Walked in around lunch and we were able to order and grab a table for 3. Lots of tables inside. I ordered the falafel sandwich and really enjoyed it! The fries came in the sandwich which was different. But very filling and okay price for ~$12. Nice lunch experience

Came here to say for dinner and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Service was good, the restaurant was clean and organized, and the food was delicious. We started with the dip sampler and the pita and all the dips were very flavorful. It was hard for me to pick a favorite but the spicy one stood out to me. We also ordered a chicken gyro and a gyro platter. Everything was extremely flavorful and the portions were great sizes. I'll definitely be returning!

Modern Greek interior with generous portion sizes. I don't eat Greek often, but after visiting Gyroland, I'll be developing FOMO for Greek foods. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and glowing in natural materials, from hanging driftwood lamps, elongated wall features, and stucco walls. I ordered the Mix Grill Platter for 2 when it really could feed four. The platter includes your choice of meat for gyro, sausage, and skewer; pictured is beef patties / lamb / pork. Every bite melted into the next - meats were tender to the palate and paired so well with the Tzatziki sauce / fresh cut vegetables / pita. My only recommendation is to add more seasoning to the grilled meats as I found myself edging toward the hot sauce for a bolder flavor. Either way, the sheer volume left me impressed.

My boyfriend and I went to Melina for the first time, and we both left with the exact same thought: this is the best restaurant we've ever been to. To begin, our server, Justin, was the absolute best server we've ever had. From the moment we sat down and were handed the menu, Justin immediately began to explain the starters and appetizers. He didn't just explain what was on the menu; he broke down the origins, the ingredients, where they were imported from, why they were named what they were, how they were cooked, and even how they would make us feel! We left that introduction knowing exactly what we wanted and why, with zero guessing. Neither of us is from Greece, yet we didn't feel like we had to look up a single thing on our phones to understand the menu. Everything we had was a perfect combination and an incredible experience. When it came to the main dishes, I chose the Portobello Mushrooms, which come with a hazelnut farro. Justin remembered that my boyfriend is allergic to nuts and thoughtfully had the farro served on the side so that my boyfriend could still try the rest of my plate safely. That level of care and thoughtfulness is something I've never encountered in all of our dates. Between the jokes, the perfect check-ins, his menu encyclopedia knowledge, and the overall vibes, my boyfriend and I left the restaurant overwhelmed with joy. Neither of us has ever left a restaurant review before, so that alone says a lot. Melina and Justin will definitely be a regular staple in our lives moving forward. Cava Mezze had some of the best customer service I'd ever experienced. The staff was so attentive--everyone from my server to the manager. Any member of the staff that simply passed my table made sure to ask me if I was enjoying my food or give me an update on the status of my food. My server also made sure to inform me about the restaurant's cuisine and menu before I ordered. As a solo diner, she made recommendations about what may be best since I wouldn't be sharing the small plates with a party. As for the food, I ordered the saganaki and grilled octopus. The restaurant also provided complimentary pita and harissa. The pita came out warm and the harissa was actually one of my favorite parts of the meal. The saganaki was good, but was ultimately just warm cheese; So as a solo diner, the $16 cost wasn't worth it to me. If dining alone, I probably would spend my money on a more unique appetizer like the hush puppies or mezze tasting. The elements of the grilled octopus were good, but felt like they were slightly off or missing something when paired all together. The grilled squid was tasty (well seasoned and smokey), but had a few too many burnt pieces for my preference and was /slightly/ tough. I still really enjoyed the flavor of it though. The fava puree was sooo good! Again, it had a great, slightly salty flavor that I really enjoyed. I think it was perhaps the brininess of the capers that threw off the flavors off, but the dish felt 100% more balanced once I mixed in some of the complimentary harissa! I really enjoyed my time at Cava Mezze and am excited to return to try more items from their menu. This restaurant is solo-date approved!
