Speaking with the owner, Gyroland takes great pains to ensure all produce is fresh. If it's not, they toss it out, not foist it on customers. The Spicy Buyurdi in claypot is an example of ultra fresh ingredients as a vegetarians' delight with a mix of peppers and onions. On the meat side - the bifteki is moist and flavorful. Not the first time here but love it every time we come. The food is delicious!!! We order a platter for two and always take quarter of it home. Meat is always fresh, onions are well seasoned (like it used to be at home - Central Asia), fries are homemade and bread is always fresh. Yummy!! They have a seating area for dine-in, small cute blue square tables for 2-4 people. Perfect for kids (have high chairs). Plenty of parking. A good place for a quick (not quick read below;) bite, pick-up and local foodies. The only downside is that you have to buy water (they don't provide water or even cups for drinks you buy). They are very slow with cleaning tables, and prep orders for dine-in. We always wait for at least 35-40 min to get our food. The cashier(maybe manager maybe owner) never smiles, never follows up, so be prepared for it. Will I come back? Definitely for food not the service. Stopped by this charming Greek bistro on the south periphery of Congressional Plaza (SW side of Halpine Road, fairly close to Rockville Pike) on a lark after running errands. I ordered four dishes to-go for my senior parents and myself, including a gyro wrap, a falafel wrap, a souvlaki wrap, and spanakopita. The meal was a very big hit with my folks, who are fairly well-traveled and enjoy all sorts of global cuisines. I found the wraps not only flavorful but fresh and the delicious tzatziki sauce was such a nice complement. I used to come here 3-4 times a week with co workers. It was always delicious. I don't know if they changed ownership or what but the food quality is 2 at best. All of my coworkers agree. Gyros were greasy the pita just becoming a sponge. We ordered a Greek salad halfway through eating it we noticed there was no dressing on it. We asked for dressing and the staff said we don't have any. The least they could have done was tell us that before we ordered the Greek salad. The staff was a little brash about it. I love the decor: They got modern Greek down to a "T". I love how clean the place is: Everything is bright, shiny, and new. It almost looks like they opened today. I love the portion size: The portion was huge. Tons of meat, a good size salad, and a nice handful of fries. I love the tzatziki: very tasty and fresh. Unfortunately this is where the love stops. 1. Gyro meat was underseasoned, lacked that signature tangyness, and the texture was way off. There was several portions of the meat that was just mush. It was fairly unappetizing. 2. The fries were not fresh. They were soggy and cold as many other reviewers noted. 3. The most disappointing portion of my meal was the salad. A salad that was obviously made a day or two before. The lettuce was completely wilted, there was a paltry specks of feta, and all of the veg had softened from having been sitting in dressing. It was so unappetizing that I ate 3 pieces and just stopped (realizing that I was forcing myself to try and enjoy it). This was really the most disappointing portion of the meal, as I saw entree salads being made, and all the ingredients that went into those large salads was fresh, crisp, dressing-less, and topped with large thin blocks of feta. I even saw one of the workers cutting giant blocks of fresh feta, and crumbling fresh feta in the back while I was eating. Why didn't I get any of that? My salad was definitely just scooped from a bucket of premade salad. It was in my opinion, next to inedible. I'm just very surprised that the same woman who was preparing the entree salads, put that on my plate and sent it out to be honest. 4. The soda's syrup needs to be adjusted. The diet coke isn't right. It seems like the workers really care about the location. They are constantly cleaning, they are preparing fresh ingredients, overseeing equipment. But, unfortunately this work is not translating into high quality served product right now. My suggestions for improvements: 1. Switch to pressed gyro meat. It's easier to keep fresh, and 90 percent of Americans are used to eating Gyro like this. 2. Never serve pre made refrigerated side salads with lettuce. Make all side salads fresh. 3. Make fries fresh to order. 4. Check your soda machine. 5. Check up on your customers. There was about 6 or 7 people working at the time. 3 tables with 4 customers in the restaurant including me. For having been opened by the people who did Mykonos, I definitely expected much higher quality of product. Unless there are some significant changes, I most likely won't be back. read more

I would've preferred it thinner and in strips or broken chunks. Next, the fries were in the pita as well making them soggy. All that crispy goodness was gone so I would've preferred them on the side. I also had the cheese pie and the spanokopita. I think it ended up taking five minutes, but when I waited outside a gypsy came up to me at random asking me to trade her something for a green matchstick she had (very bizarre). I visited Gyroland for the first time last weekend with my fiance. We went around 1:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded when we entered. The man who took our order was super friendly and answered any questions we had. After we placed our order at the register, he told us to take a seat wherever we wanted. Once we sat, our waters and food was actually brought directly to us, we didn't have to go get our food ourselves. Similarly, when we were finished, someone came and cleaned up our table. A little different and really nice for a fast-casual restaurant. We ordered some dips to share (Tzatziki, Hummus, Red pepper feta, and Baba Ganoush) and I ordered a falafel sandwich. Everything was pretty tasty and the portions were pretty filling. I was definitely full by the end of my meal! Overall, we had a pleasant experience at Gyroland. I'm glad I did because ppl are kind of harsh to this place. We walked in what seemed the back side, so we walked over to the front and were greeted. We ordered two gyros, two cokes, and took a seat. They brought our food over quickly and we dug in. Fries were seasoned perfectly, so was the meat. It was phenom. My husband doesn't like Tzatziki so he doesn't usually get a gyro but this place offered spicy feta as an alternative, he was in heaven. I got both sauces and died for it. Its saddens me to write a negative review of a local restaurant but it needs to be addressed. I was hungry and I wanted a gyro. Now I am thinking a place called Gyroland, you would expect something tasty, mouth watering and delicious. They even claim to serve halal food. Which I later find that to be false. I looove greek food and gyros. I had it millions of times. So I can tell you which places have decent high quality gyros and which places dont. The fact that this is Greek Restaurant and to be halal certified, Id expect better. Sadly my gyro, was pitiful. I can tell by looking at the meat it was some cheap it came from a restaurant food supply truck and not made in house. Halal food tend to be freshier, tastier and you can taste the difference. This was on the quality of a school lunch. My fries were soggy and cold. My friend was about to order a spanakopita but saw another customer order and groaned. He was not pleased with what he saw. The Gyros at Caspian Cafe or Moby Dicks ( I know its Persian) its 10x better. The service was good which is why I give 2 stars. read more

The gyro was lukewarm and it was stuffed with slimy-soggy-limp fries with tasteless and flavorless shredded chicken. I didn't even know it's possible to make chicken dry but soggy concurrently. The pita bread was chewy and soggy also with weird odor. I am disappointed that the gyro was coated with flavorless watery mayo sauce type substance. I refuse to call them tzazaki sauce. Visited Gyroland last night as I was doing errands. The gent at the register asked me what I wanted and I simply said "give me your best Sandwich"...and he did. Souvlaki Pork Wrap. Delicious! The tzatziki was creamy and well spiced and the pork was well spiced with the onions, tomatoes topping the meat. The surprise was having French fries on top of the whole sandwich all wrapped in a great Pita bread. More than filling! You can also have it as an open-face sandwich. The restaurant is modern, very clean, white and turquoise colors and comfortable. The young lady making the Gyro was pleasant as was the gent in charge. The men's room is very clean which is always a good indication of the rest of the restaurant I took a photo of the wall hanging in the bathroom...if you weren't sure it was the men's room you did once you saw this picture. Makes you wonder what is on the wall in the ladies room! Gyroland is worth a visit. Very reasonable. read more

After a great workout I was looking forward to a quick protein fix on my way home. Usually places of this nature have their lunchtime game down, if managed properly that is. Placed my order online when I walked out of the gym, arrived twenty minutes later. Their website seemed a bit outdated for such a new restaurant. Upon my arrival, I was not greeted, I had to practically wave to the cashier to get her attention. I said I was there to pick up and she proceeded to chat with the ONE COOK on staff, who I witnessed popping fries into the fryer and a chicken skewer on flat top (both mine) In the end it took 45 minutes to get my lunch, I didn't even have time to eat it because I had to get to work, And the Greek salad was a joke...just chunks of cucumber with some tomatoes and red onion, no flavor or uniqueness... I asked the cashier what was going on, and she said the machines were broken and no manager in sight...also a fellow customer who was also frustrated looked over and said to me "this always happens when I come here" It's sad because if this place were properly managed it could be successful and would definitely get my business! Looks like the owner has his hands in too many restaurants at once because prior to writing this review I wrote him a detailed email about my experience only to receive zero response... The decor inside was nice, but I'd suggest leaving the spinach pie container with heat lamp in the 90s Overall very mediocre food, actually it was downright bad. Very unorganized.
