Ok. It's been a while (two years), but I wanted to give this neighborhood place another try. I am much more impressed. The service was much better and uniform and the food we had was good. I liked the pita bread they brought over. It's a large piece, with a crunch on the outside, but not doughy on the inside. My mezza plate (called "traditional platter") was good. It is a sampling of hommus, tabouleh, baba ghannouge, a kibbeh, a grape leaf, and two falafels The baba ganouche was flavorful as was the hummus. The tabouleh was bright and fresh. The kibbeh was meaty (lamb) and the grape leaf was well stuffed and flavorful. I liked the falafel, but, although they were warm, I would have preferred that they be hot. The kibbeh was warmer in temperature. The lentil/spinach soup is very good. There's a fountain soda dispenser for free refills. As I said, the service was much better than our last visit and the food good. I'll be back. Probably to try chicken kabob or schwarma. read more

This location is right in the heart of Rockville Town Center where all of the shops and restaurants are located. You will find plenty of public parking garages and this location is quite convenient. For some reason this location has then chicken sandwiches I like called Djaje M' Sahab which includes minced chicken with garlic sauce in a pita bread wrap, and the other nearby location does not offer it. It could be because this location does have the rotating chicken rotisserie. The chicken shwarma and the rotisserie chicken are both also good options here too. Because of the convenience of this location, I am able to visit many other local favorites while here, like Bonchon and Trader Joes. read more

I want to start out by saying I placed the order at the wrong Lebanese taverns and they were great at replicating my order and getting it sorted out. The cashier looked at what I had ordered and offered an alternative to the zataar flatbread since they didn't have it at the location. My daughter loved the alternative flatbread and wouldn't share a bite with me. It was that good. And the lentils soup was delicious. Even enough for a second day. Definitely coming back here. It's been awhile since I've been to Lebanese Taverna. I ordered delivery this time. Disappointing. My chicken shawarma sandwich was very dry and they either skimped on the garlic sauce or just didn't give me any. Definitely nothing was available on the side. The falafel sandwich was just a little better but still dry and again no sauce. The fries were greasy and smashed into the box. Definitely skip these. Grape leaves were okay. I went here with a group of friends after falling down at the ice rink so many times. We had a late lunch but my food experience was sub-par. Walking in you're greeted by a nice lady who graciously took our orders one by one. She was nice and prevented this from getting a two star rating. I got the mixed kabob platter, and I was hoping for a bit more food for the price I paid for but it was very lackluster. You get chunks of chicken, steak, and Kafta which is Kofta in other countries but it's ground beef with onions, spices, parsley. The food came out a bit cold and I was a bit underwhelmed honestly. The meats, they were cooked fine but again just not for the price I paid for. Rice Pilaf was great, but you don't get enough of it. The salad is well, salad. Can't really complain there. If there's anything I do have to mention, it's this tomato sauce that's under the grilled meat... I really hate to say this but it reminded me of Chef Boyardee. I'm not really sure how I came to that conclusion but I didn't like it. The pita with the garlic paste, it was good. You get a lot of Pita and I'm just surprised that I got so much for such small of a dish I had. Would I come back here? Probably not. I tried Lebanese Taverna for lunch and had a very average experience. The inside is nice, the seating options are great, service was quick, however the food could use improvement. I ordered the falafel wrap and was very underwhelmed. The pita tasted like it had been left on a countertop for 2 weeks. It tasted stale and bland. I wish that the wrap had been lightly toasted to bring the pita back to life. The falafel itself was just ok. It was a little grittier than I prefer falafel and not nice and fluffy like I would expect an authentic falafel to be. The wrap had some veggies and sauce which were all average. Really if the pita was better I would not be so critical of the ingredients inside the wrap. Lebanese Taverna does not have many other options for vegans to try. Since I do not want to eat that pita ever again, I do not see myself going back. I hope they will consider toasting their pitas in the future because I think it could really elevate their menu. read more

Lebanese Taverna recently did a fabulous job catering a big birthday party for us, feeding 75 people at a rented hall in Rockville where we had the party. Catering Manager Maroun Wazir was the best - very helpful, accessible, well organized and friendly. The food arrived on time, was hot and delicious, and so generous!! We even had significant leftovers. We ordered chicken, falafel, rice, roast veggies, salad and got hummus, bread, and all the sauces - a good variety for our party guests. I just decided to forget it. The hummus is flavorful. The bread was yummy. The portions are decent. There is a variety of menu items. We lingered at the table. The employees were nice about it. There was a group of approx 8-10 youth that decided to just come in and sit (and cause trouble) without ordering anything. The employee did a great job of politely/firmly asking the group to leave. Right on the town square - this nifty little gem offers indoor and outdoor seating and a variety of food and drink options that are delicious and well-priced. I got the beef shawarma platter and will say that the beef was a bit too overdone for me, but the flavor was definitely there! The salad and rice were delicious and the hummus stole the show! My daughter, and I stopped by Leb Tav for dinner. I ordered the Shawarma platter, and my daughter ordered hummus and the falafel basket. I'm used to fresh Middle Eastern, cuisine, and bluntly, expected to be slightly disappointed. I'm very happy to say that the food was much better than expected. The platter was fine, the falafel was fresh, and the pita was hot from the oven. There was a slight error in that the Shawarma I wanted was lamb, and I was given chicken, but since I didn't specify when ordering, I don't feel it was the restaurants fault. The best thing about the restaurant was not the food, but the attitude of the lady taking the order. She was professional, helpful, and very positive.Even my daughter commented on her pleasant nature, and that we should have tried this restaurant before now. BP and I found a great Groupon to use for lunch! BP ordered the Falafel platter and I ordered the Beef and Lamb Shawarma. BP's sandwich was a lot better than mine. The Falafel were cooked to perfection, soft in the middle, yet crunchy on the inside. They also were flavor-packed. I liked the veggie to Falafel to pita ratio and very much enjoyed the side of fries. So, if you haven't guessed by now, I ate a lot more of the Falafel than I did the Shawarma! Here is why: The lamb and beef in the Shawarma were a lot more gamey tasting than I anticipated. I eat beef regularly and eat lamb fairly often, but something about the sandwich felt a bit off. IT also got very soggy very quickly. It was because of the sauces that soaked the pita in combination with the gamey meat that I decided to switch :) BP didn't mind the taste of the meat, but agreed that the sogginess of the pita was hard to overlook. The restaurant was clean, but the staff was too busy stocking garlic for the chicken in little containers for the evening customers to really welcome us. Luckily, there was only one other party dining in at the time, so i don't think others felt the same lack of service that I did. Honestly I only came here for an afternoon snack, so I can only comment on what I did eat here. This is a typical order at the counter place with a bunch of different food options. I grabbed the soup of the day, and they just took my order and I waited at an open table. I came when it wasn't busy so they just brought the food up to me. Soup was pretty good, but honestly kinda expensive. I also think the portions wasn't that big for the price. It did come with 2 bread things (pretty big, it's like a empty pocket). Good stuff though, but the food there looked slightly expensive for the amount you get. They're also pretty friendly. Might come back here to try something else. read more

I had eaten at this place before, a while back, but I don't really remember what I had since it was so long ago. Decided to give this place a try again, but decided to get a Chicken Kabob meal instead. I got it to go. Meal came with chicken with its own sauce, salad with a light sauce, rice and 2 pieces of pita type bread along with some white sauce in a container. I didn't know what to use the extra sauce with, so I just dipped the pita type bread in it and loved it. Meal overall was very delicious - the chicken pieces were very soft (except for 1 piece). I used some the red sauce and spread it over my rice. The salad had some onions in it (not a fan of onions, so I just picked the pieces out). Service was good too. I will definitely go back and get the Chicken Kabob again. read more

I was a little bit down on this place in this review I wrote 5.5 years ago (time flies!). It's still around, and when I stopped in again they produced some decent food, most notably a very spicy hummus with an excellent smoothness, as well as grape leaves with chickpeas and rice inside. They have nice light Middle Eastern options, plenty of support for most dietary needs, and a large, quiet space for a fast service place. The food quality still wasn't up there with Lebanese Taverna's full restaurants, and it's by no means a destination restaurant, but it's a nice little quick stop. read more

I have to tell you. Lebanese Taverna - yeah, I'm a fan. I've never left a Lebanese Taverna saying, "bleh, why did I choose that," like I would say if I chose I'm usually like, " ok ok , I get it. I can dig it." Is it the best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten... no. But it's pretty solid cuisine for what it is. This past time I got the Kia's Platter which was a choice of chicken or lamb shwarma with 4 choices of mezze items. This format I love! I get a meat and a bunch of little salads and dips and two steaming hot pitas. I could do this every day for lunch. Barring the chicken shwarma being a little dry/overcooked and everything needing a little spritz of lemon - I really enjoyed my meal. I got the special hummus which had some sort of ground meat on it. It was good. I got the tabbouleh which I love there. I got the M'saka which was a delightful combination of chickpeas and eggplant in a tomato base served cold which was probably my favorite dish. I go the lebanese salad ( or Israeli salad as I know it) to me was a little too roughly cut for its own good, but had a tangy zippy dressing on it. The pita, which is shaped like a small football, is super fresh and the perfect vessel for all these wonderful treats. Fun Fact: The one in Rockville is a walk-up cafe style restaurant and the one in Bethesda is a sit down restaurant with service.
