First off this place is spotless clean! You can gamble here if you want, four slot machines, no waiting. They have beer and wine. This place is owned and operated by proud Greeks. The gyros? OMG! I paid over $8 for a gyro no side or beverage. The gyro had 5 strips of meat. It had more tomato than anything . I been here twice in 5 years and two times it disappointed. Save yourself the hassle. Poor customer service! My family has the same order every time and this time they charged me for extra tzatziki sauce without telling me. I ask for tzatziki instead of the salad dressing (of oil and vinegar). Plus, I tell them we don't need two of the pitas that come with our order. Most places are more than willing to do simple substitutions such as sauce instead of salad dressing. (By the way, they don't have options for the dressing either.) I found out that they charged me for the sauce since they didn't bill my full order and needed to bill me for the missing item and then, I saw the original receipt. I think it's very rude that if you are going to change your policy at least let the client know that they will be charged for something. The food is okay... not the best, but not the worst in the area. I've always thought it was a little overpriced and now charging for sauce instead of dressing, confirms this! Even though I saw they charged $6.49 for a gyro, I reluctantly ordered two with extra sauce n tomatoes and one small fry. (I thought that they must be pretty large gyros at that price.) Anyway, the man at the register asked me how much extra sauce I wanted, but before I could reply, he said "Two is good?" I said, "Fine." The total bill was $22.50! I was in total shock and thought there must be some sort of mistake. Well, the only mistake was my patronizing Gyros Express in the first place. He charged me $3.60 for the sauce and $1.20 for the tomatoes. (As far as "extra" tomatoes go, they must give you only an eighth of a normal tomato slice with the regular order, because there idea of "extra" is far from generous.) I admit that the meat and the sauce were both very tasty, but the price is absolutely ridiculous. NEVER AGAIN! BTW, the fries were dry and stale tasting. read more

If you've read my Steve's Boston review...this will be the reason I can't stand Steve's. Gyro Express takes pride in it's food. The gyro is filled to the brim, fresh cut french fries are cooked to crunchy perfection, and teh Ribs....the Ribs are the secret here.....Greeks don't = ribs but these greeks know how to make ribs. I think Steve from Boston should spend a week at Gyro Express to get an idea of how great Greek take out should be. First time at Gyro Express. Food portion was big but the PRICE was unreasonable. 39.00 bucks for 2 gyro dinners, 2 pops and extra pitas. Gyro did taste good..I looked at the menu and noticed for JUST a pizza puff the price is 4 bucks!! Gyro dinner comes with 2 slices of tomatoe which were so small and only 1 pita. Usually a gyro dinner comes with more than just 1 pita. Onions were loaded on. Fries were good just the pricing stinks. The family went and got take out from here tonight. Boy, it's been awhile since we've had gyros and these certainly didn't disappoint. They were SO darn good. The meat was overflowing and the fresh hand cut fries were amazing. Gyros express is very clean. It has been spotless every time I've gone in there. The owners are always super friendly and the service is very fast. The only complaint (and reason it gets 4 stars) that I can give about this place is that it's quite expensive; however most gyro places these days seem to going that way. All well. Hands down I absolutely feel that Gyros Express has the best gyros in Du Page County. All the food I've tried here is hot and fresh. The gyro meat is sliced straight off the rack and there is just the right amount of tzatziki sauce and onions to make the prefect gyro. The hand cut fries are delicious. I've been here a few times, but not once have I seen someone use the video gambling machines. I would just as soon put a quarter into a Pac-Man game if I wanted some entertainment. Honestly the Gyros are pretty solid. But living in Chicagoland there's a ton of places that are better. Even more, there are a lot of places that are just as good but much, much cheaper. Bottom-line you're getting a slightly above average gyro, fries, etc but paying premium prices. I would skip this place and not waste your time or money. read more

These guys are pricey for falling in the fast-food gyro category. We usually get the platter for like $14 or so and its a good full meal for two people. The meat portion and fries are good...and there is just one kuboos/pita bread though. We've been here so many times so I have to give it for the taste and quality of food which has been excellent. We've had good service and the pop n son who work here do know how to deal with their customers. They are friendly and down to earth and if they are not busy, would engage in a good conversation with you rather than a usual -hi-bye-thank you-come again. The first time we went here, they gave us a free baklawa and once we were super late to pick order, and they were good enough to make it all over again and give a free baklawa. Outrageous prices. 2 chicken gyros order of fries 2 small drinks $23.00 don't know who is crazier them for ripping customers off or me for not just walking out. The gyro's was process meat not from a spit as would be expected. The meat was cold and no sauce was available other than the normal cucumber sauce. So very dissatisfied. Employees/owner rude and obnoxious talkiing on the phone so loudly I sent a look to the kid letting him know to shut up please. Let's not be quick to judge a small business seeing as the economy has put MOST of these place out of business. REALIZE when their costs go up so do their prices. This Gyros is like NO OTHER that I have tasted. It is seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The fresh cut fries are a refreshing change from the frozen at most fast food places. The pork kebobs are TO DIE FOR and the chicken salad is one dish I can gladly eat everyday for the rest of my life. The service is great. I am always greeted with a smiling face and the staff is professional and efficient. It is clear they genuinely care about your needs and do everything in their power to make you happy. LOVE IT!
