Because my friends have been here a few years ago and loved it, we decided to come yesterday. It was my first time ever, and I was not disappointed. Upon entering, the restaurant was clean and simple. The place had a lot more seating than I was expecting, and they sold alcohol which I was happily surprised about because it didn't look like somewhere that would sell any. The cashier at the counter told us to sit anywhere we wanted. Then, immediately after sitting down, a woman who was going to be our waitress gave us our menus and quickly brought us plastic bottles filled with salsa verde and red hot sauce. She also brought a small complimentary basket of chips with salsa. She was very friendly throughout our entire visit. The menu is a little confusing because there are multiple columns without labels, and it's a bit smudged together, but it was okay, and the prices were clear, at least. I ordered a frozen mango margarita, one of my friends ordered a frozen peach one, and my other friend ordered a Corona. The margaritas were amazing! Mine was much more of a slushy consistency than my friend's, but the flavors of both were so fruity and delicious. I will order one again when I inevitably come back. As for food, one of my friends and I ordered taco dinners, while my other friend ordered a burrito with cheese on top with a quesadilla on the side. We all liked our food, especially me! The steak on my tacos was so tender and flavorful, the corn tortillas perfectly warm, and the onions and cilantro were fresh. Everything tasted authentic. My friend who ordered the tacos loved hers and especially loved the refried beans. I didn't order beans, so I was given extra rice, instead. The rice was amazing, especially with the red hot sauce doused all over it! My friend who ordered the burrito did like the chicken and everything about her burrito; however, she remembers the burritos being larger when she came years ago. They do have two different sizes (baby and regular), and even though she got a regular, she said it was smaller than she remembered. I did not try the "rice in a cup" or what we just call elote, but both of my friends did and they were a bit disappointed because there was too much cheese which made the whole thing too salty to enjoy. They also had to mix the cup for a few minutes to even get to the corn. I didn't try it, but that's just something to consider if you like elote. Maybe it was an off day, or next time, I'd ask for easy cheese. Overall, I will 100% be back here, most likely sooner than later. The food: Solid. We ordered veggie baby burritos after 11:00 in the evening, and they got to us hot. The tortillas were toasted to perfection, making them feel part of the meal instead of just a vehicle for burrito filling. We also got chips and guacamole, both of which were excellent. I still 100% love the food. The last time I came here was late last year. It's been a while because my order was wrong, that didn't really sit well with me so I gave them a break. Cheese on your tacos costs .25¢ per taco. I got six mini tacos with cheese, but they only had cilantro and onion. Again, the food is always very good. Just a big disappointment to not have cheese on my tacos when I got charged extra. Now I decided to come back again recently. This time I got six mini tacos, just cilantro and onion to be safe. Two pork, two steak, two chicken. Got back to work to eat. I was given three steak and three chicken. Chicken is very good, but the steak is almost just ground beef. A bit disappointed again my order was messed up a second time in a row. I still hope to have the pork tacos soon! Had to clean it up myself with a napkin I ordered 4 tacos, 2 pastor and 2 steak. Left and got home and had 5 chicken tacos. I don't understand how they got it so wrong. If you like enormous burritos this is the place for you! I think I had the biggest burrito of my life here, lol. Crazy tasty too! I was in town visiting friends and family. It was my first time in the Chicago area so I looked to Yelp for insight on where to go. I adore Mexican so when I saw this place was right down the road from my hotel I was I intrigued. And it's right next door to a Harley dealership, so bonus! The first thing I noticed when walking in was a poster on the wall for Elotes in a Cup! This place was a little underwhelming. The menu is not very clear on what the items are or what the cost is. I decided on the stuffed peppers, but I didn't want rice or beans, so I just ordered 3 stuffed peppers, a side "corn in a cup" (elotes), and a drink, and it ended up costing much more than I expected. I was very disappointed in the stuffed peppers because they were just (poblano?) peppers with cheese, and lightly fried. No meat, no sauce, no seasoning..very bland. The corn was pretty good, but it also took them until the end of my meal to bring it out (even though I had asked about it 3 times during the meal). I can't believe I hadn't written a review of this place for all those time I have been here in the past. This is one of my favorite places to eat and hang out. I have been going here for a handful of years now. A buddy of mine had introduced me to this place. I liked their food right away. I am a fan of their Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Chorizo, and Ground Beef. All of these meats are properly cooked and have a good flavor. Their green and red salsas are on point as well. The red salsa has a smoky flavor. That's my favorite. My go-to items to order here are their tacos and meat filled quesadillas. Those are my favorites. Their burritos, enchiladas, and tortas are good as well. In the last couple of years, they have gone through a bit of an upgrade/ remodeling where they have now installed t.v. screen for displaying their menu. They added alcoholic beverages to their menu. I also like their milkshakes. The Mamey, Mango and Papaya flavors are my favorites. I have had their Pozole as well which was really good. Flavorful and spicy. I like their service a lot. It's always been good. They take care of your special requests too. For e.g., if you want jalapenos in your food or on the side or no onions/ cilantro or whatever the case maybe. I like my food with all the items they usually add to their dishes. So for me, it's usually asking for adding jalapenos to the food or getting a side of Chile Toreados. This has been our go to Mexican food spot for years as it's really close to the house, usually open late, and prices are reasonable. Went in lateish last night to order take out. The building is an old converted Pizza Hut but the staff is always friendly and, it's clean and well-maintained. Prices have gone up recently which is standard these days. A burrito dinner, two tacos, and a baby burrito was about $35 which seemed a bit high until we got home to eat.... Let's just say the "burritos as big as your head" moniker should be in use here! I haven't seen a burrito this size in ages. So much so that I couldn't even finish it. I got the Pastor with everything which was lettuce, tomato, cheese, and beans, and the dinner came with a side of rice and beans and it was the tastiest burrito I ever had here. They must've got some new cooks because the food was much better than any of the dozens of times I've been here previously. Refried beans were the perfect consistency (they've been soupy here in the past). Wife also got Pastor tacos with cilantro and onion and she gobbled them up. The Pastor was certainly unique and very flavorful. Big chunks of tender pork with great seasoning. Kid got the steak baby burrito and remarked that it was delicious. I hope they keep these cooks because they really have taken the food up a notch! Even the green and red hot sauces, that they give you seem to be a little tastier. I was hoping this place was really good based on the input from my wife's beauty salon. They said the place looks like a dump but the food was terrific. I don't suspect they've been to many Mexican restaurants. BUT It failed because we both ordered dishes that included skirt steak which they said was GREAT. We started with Margaritas on the rocks and we both agreed that was the high point of the lunch and the reason for 2 stars. I had the steak fajitas and my wife had the Steak a la Mexicana. . chips and salsa average . green and red bottle Sauses bland . flavor of the 2 dishes was good but they cut the skirt with the grain, then in chunks instead of against the grain and it was really chewy, REALLY CHEWY . service was average at best. For a Friday afternoon not much business. Maybe 4 tables and 5 takeouts during the hour+ we were there just afternoon. To be fair if they had cut the steak properly this review would have been 3.5 to 4 stars but the meals were 19.00+ apiece so that's a problem. If you feel lucky and you're in the neighborhood, give it a try but I'd stay clear of anything with steak in it unless you're in a weight loss mode and you want to give your jaw muscles a workout. who knows other offerings may be fine. read more

I have two stories from here, when I was in high school they refused me service bc they said teens don't tip. I was waiting for my parents to join me and the waitress told me I had to leave. So I didn't want them spitting in my food and I left. Second was a couple years later, after the gym, I stopped in bc I was starving and it was super late at night. The cook was yelling curse words in Spanish and kept telling the guy at the register he's tired of "white customers" and said he was going to spit in my food so that we "get the point". I brought it to the register guys attention(some guy w a huge thick gold bracelet, maybe the owner?) that I am fluent in Spanish and he just shrugged and said his cook doesn't listen. He said it's better I leave and not deal with it. This place is gross and they treat everyone like garbage. They are obviously racist. I am mixed and would never want my children treated this way. They need to be sued or shut down. Avoid at all costs. So they allow their waitresses to turn down customers based on AGE and LOOKS. And then their cooks to determine who gets spit in their food based on the RACE and COLOR of a customers skin. That's discrimination!!!!!!!!!!! Lmk if anyone is suing and I'll join. Update, the owner replied saying they've been in business 30+ years and they r doing something right...... probably bc not all their customers fluently understand Spanish. That's disgusting if this has been going on for years. And the man w the thick gold bracket Is garbage for watching it happen. I guess that's how they stay in business, happy eating everyone! What a disappointment!! This is the first time I've ever had to throw away tacos. I ordered the steak tacos with cilantro and onions. Their version of "steak" is ground beef. There were chunks of fat that I couldn't chew through. The tortillas were old, and the ground beef was bland. The tacos were abysmal!! Not to mention, they don't thoroughly clean their onions. The service was great, as well as the portion sizes for the cost. But the flavor fell short a bit. I had el pastor and there wasn't much spice nor the traditional pineapple pieces that create the flavor. Also the chorizo and eggs were good but needs some moisture/sauce. I Should have gotten it with jalapeño added in. The flavor was good in the tamale and it was huge! Will return but I will explore the menu more.
