Venue 4/5 Great location and ambiance, however it is hard to book in advance and the walk in wait list is 20+ mins usually for parties of 4 or more. Easy to access via transit, or paid parking street parking and paid parking lot. Service 4/5 Service is fast and efficient, hospitality can be better. They are quite strict on their dining time too which is expected for an all you can eat place. Food and orders were quick and accurate for the most part. Just remember to order desserts within the last 15mins of your time slot. Food 4/5 3 tier menu for beef. Default is food for those new to bbq, plenty of meat options, seafood, and vegetables. You won't regret coming. Sides portions are great size so you can pair with the proteins.

Definitely one of my go-to for AYCE Japanese BBQ! Prices: Black Angus Menu: $42.99 (weekdays); $45.99 (Fri-Sun; Holidays) Silver Wagyu Menu: $95.99 (weekdays); $99.99 (Fri-Sun; Holidays) Gold Wagyu Menu (regular): $139.99 (weekdays); $145.99 (Fri-Sun; Holidays) Gold Wagyu Menu (+AYCE Japanese A5 Wagyu): $239.99 (weekdays); $245.99 (Fri-Sun; Holidays) 10% cash discount (Can't be combined with other promotions) Don't forget the 2 hour free validated parking (enter through the Hillcrest Ave) Great place to chill and get together with friends and loved ones. Service is attentive!

If you're looking for some quality AYCE DIY table BBQ in willowdale, this is the spot to go. There is another ayce Japanese spot in the neighbourhood but shinta definitely takes the cake. Literally. They specialize in Wagyu AYCE which is definitely $$$$$ at $100+ for the silver set, but if you're just looking for a more basic meal, their black menu for around $43 is what you're looking for. Despite the smaller menu, it still comes with good stuff like pork belly, prime kalbi short ribs, garlic beef brisket, and steak with sweet soy sauce. Orders are served at a good pace and they've got lot of staff doing the rounds to take orders. During this summer they have a limited time menu featuring the juiciest chicken wings and beer battered Atlantic cod among other dishes. Don't have to travel downtown or to Markham to enjoy ayce table BBQ!

This is probably the best BBQ in Willowdale. We got the Silver option and we got all the Wagyu we want and they just kept on coming. We definitely got the value of what we paid for. I also liked how their service is quick. They find the perfect time to ask if we're ready for our 2nd or 3rd order. The entire restaurant is packed so having a service like that deserves a star. At one point we thought the table was crowded but they were able to get our empty plates right away, making it more comfortable for us to move stuff in our table (and eat)

Shinta is one of the popular spots in Toronto for Japanese BBQ serving a multi selection of menu tiers to choose from with varying level of meat options. Located on the second floor of the Empress Centre. It was my first time coming to this place so this experience was all brand new to me. BBQ: Got the basic tier level of AYCE. I'm not a big AYCE person but the selection of meats was quite an interesting selection that were new to me such as the beef tongue. I was a fan of the ribs and the thinly sliced beef. The steak was tough to eat so I wasn't entirely a big fan of that. Despite being super busy on a weekday evening (especially with a large group) the meats came fast. Side dishes/Desserts: I had some small bites of other dishes too such as the karaage, and corn cheese. They were pretty standard nothing out of the ordinary but worth trying. Of course you couldn't end the meal without a dessert. They had some nice options on the menu like the mantou buns with condensed milk, watermelon, and the ice cream (soft serve or popsicle). The price was around the standard pricing compared to other JBBQ spots for dinner. If you want to have more premium meat options the higher tier levels have them. Quite accommodating to fit a large group reservation (recommend calling for the reservation). Overall, I had an amazing experience here - perfect for special occasions once in awhile!

I keep coming back to shinta in any occasions. The food is always good. The meats is fresh and tender when its cook. The have lota of options on the me u for the ayce. Staff is super friendly. The service is fast. Definitely recommended to family and friends. Always book in advance for big groups as they are always busy especially on weekends.

Chef selected wagyu cut

My partner and I had our anniversary dinner here and got the silver wagyu ayce. This location is pretty spacious, I did not expect that much seating. At each table, there is a grill and a massive vent right above the grill so the smell doesn't linger too much. It was out first times trying wagyu, we tried almost everything on the first list on the menu. Never had fois gras before, can say that it has a very acquired taste (not a big fan of it). Out of all the premium meats we had, I would say my favourite one was the chef selected wagyu cuts so I have no idea what part it was from. I found some cuts to be too fatty so I trimmed those parts. My partner's review was that he did not feel justified paying that price for wagyu and it was on par with Gyubee but it was for sure worth the try. I agree with him and think this is a good place to go to for special occasions.

Lots of variety of meat and desserts to pick from. The meat and service is always good!

Overall: 4.2/5 Food: 4.2/5 Awesome qualities of meet for a bbq place like this. I've been to Gyubee many times, but I have to say that Shinta is much better in every aspect. The only thing I like better at Gyubee than here is the bibimbap. All beef was very flavourful, I can't remember what it was called, but my favourite was the cubed beef pieces. Very flavourful! Atmosphere: 4.5/5 very grand place, nice atmosphere, you don't feel like tables are too close to each other. Perfect ambiance for what it is! Service: 4/5 very friendly waiters and waitresses. The only thing is that it sometimes took people long to come around, but it's also because they're very busy. Also, the 2 hour seating limit (which is typical for bbq places) was kind of a let down because we weren't 100% finished our food. Even though it was 2 hours, it felt shorter for some reason. Overall though, awesome BBQ place, and my favourite in the GTA so far!

You can choose from black, silver, or gold menu. With black menu being the lowest priced AYCE out of the three. The selection of meat options are great even when we opted for black menu. Customer service is exceptional. Super friendly and delivers food fast. Quality of meat is great. Taste is really good. Family-friendly place. We have been coming to this location and will keep doing so!

I got the silver menu at shinta and really enjoyed it. There was a big selection with some Wagyu options.

Went for an AYCE Sunday lunch. Pretty good selection of meat and veg. Service was quick. We came at opening and there weren't a lot of people but the crowd started trickling in. Keep in mind there's a 2 hour limit! I ordered a bibimbap and would not recommend if you're not into saucy food. The dessert selection could be better. I got a crème brûlée and the top was barely torched.

Food and service here are amazing!! I slightly like the food better at gyubee (more seasoned) but I like that they have more options on the menu like their takoyaki. The ambiance is so nice and the staff here are welcoming.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.
