I have the Hayward 200 Series sand filter that started leaking and needs new " 0 ring." This model has 40 bolts around the filter and when sand or "0 ring" has to be replaced, all 40 bolts must come off. I called almost every pool company on Long Island to repair/replace the "0 ring" on my filter. My filter is 25 years old and has been protected inside the shed its whole life. In all those years the "0 ring" has been replaced three times. (My husband was the only one who ever took care of the filter.) New sand replaced only when we replaced the " 0 ring." They all said the same thing to me. ----" We don't do sand filters much less one with all those bolts around it." When this filter has to be put back together, all those bolts must be TORQUED, and its time consuming to do it. So after months of looking for someone, I came across this pool company called "GZ Pool Works." Spoke to Garrett himself, explained situation, he ordered the part, and he was at my house within the week with a new "0 ring. Explained much as he was taking filter apart and what he was doing. Put in new "0 ring" and torqued all those 40 bolts, start up the filter and the darn thing started leaking worse with the new "0 ring." Garrett was at my house from 11:30 am to 2;30pm, trying to repair it. No matter what he did it just would not stop leaking. Old "0 ring had to be put back in. Didn't leak as much. My heart just went out to Garrett who spent so much time and so much effort to stop this leak and no matter what he did nothing worked. And for Garrett to spend so much time on my filter makes you know that he takes great pride in his work and will spend all his time to make it right. I praise him for that and for the fact that he didn't give up. Unfortunately the filter won the battle. Garrett thank you so much for all that you did and spending so much time with my filter. Why can't every pool company be like this. I was recommended by a coworker to GZ Pool Works. Shortly afterwords I checked Yelp to see what all the hype was about. Obviously he came highly recommended from my coworker Ryan but once I went on yelp I saw why. I was in a situation where I need my pool closed immediately because I was leaving the country and my mother had just passed away so we had nobody to look after the house while we're gone. It being this late in the pool season I expected he was going to be backed up which he definitely was. Understanding my situation and coming from another respected customer as a reference he did his best to find a spot in his route to fit me in. Not only did he provide me with an estimate of time that he would be at my home to help me get my other daily chores out-of-the-way but he was actually running a bit early and called me to make sure I was aware. I actually had to run out so I left him some money in the backyard and when I came home I realize that my safety cover was put on better than it ever has been before. He text me shortly afterwords informing me that the last pool company was obviously pretty lazy and didn't want to take the time to adjust the straps appropriately to create the proper tension. I will say that from everything being put nice and neat into my shed all of the pipes being wrapped up and winterized better than they ever were before buying any other company I have used to the adjustment on my safety cover straps I was beyond impressed with his commitment to my account even though he was just "fitting me in". To be completely honest had I known I was going to get that type of service I would've left him even more of a tip that I already did. He left me a business card magnet in my front door and even had a few laughs with my neighbor from what I heard. I can't wait to get a chance to meet him during the opening. I've been using the same company out of convenience since my pool was installed. They did the job for the most part, but always made it seem like it was a hassle to help me. When I was unable to get the filter running for over a week, they literally told me to call someone else. After a quick search, I found GZ Pools here. Without knowing me from a hole in the wall, he proceeded to help me troubleshoot via text, talking me through all the things to look out for and try to get the pool running again. Garrett is the man! He is transparent and takes the time to explain the work and pricing. He shows up on time, puts in the elbow grease, and is much easier to deal with than the larger companies.
