I decided to do a solo staycation for my 26th birthday and it was the best thing ever! My room was upgraded so I had a beautiful view of uptown Dallas. I was on the 17th floor and got a corner room! I was messaging a worker there on how I wanted my room to be decorated for my birthday and my expectations were met! This hotel is so accommodating, I forgot my curling iron so I called and asked if they have one which they did and they also gave me a straightener! The room comes with a white noise and a speaker! The speaker honestly elevated this experience for me just bc music is a serotonin boost! All in all i recommend anyone and everyone to come here fancy occasion or not! I really recommend people to come for staycations and just relax the second day I stayed I didn't do anything but just admire the beautiful view from my room I'm so blessed to have stayed here and I thank everyone who helped me during my stay I appreciate you guys so much!

The Rooftop Pool! Breathtaking views! November 2025.

This somewhat-new hotel was recently awarded a Michelin Key. If you don't know what that is yet, it's new and you'll need to look it up. ANYTHING that has Michelin is a highest esteemed award, global known. This is going to be an epic review, so hang in there and let's go.... When I first arrived at this interesting building, I didn't know what to expect. I had high hopes and expectations on my stay. I stayed at the Hotel Swexan, last month for 3 nights. Front desk at check-in was pleasant and smooth, no issues there. We were immediately given our room, upon checking in at 11am. The lobby is a bit on the smallish side, but had a charming fireplace. Very immaculate and modern surroundings. Nice and classic, is my take. You'll need your room key to get to any floor in the hotel. I'm impressed with their gym on the 8th floor, extraordinary views, very spacious and luxurious, with chilled water and green apples, with towels at the tidy desk. Well maintained equipment and very clean all around. Highly recommend, if you're a gym rat! Please see my reviews on each restaurant at the Hotel Swexan. Onto my room.... My room 1504, was clean and smelled like fresh linens. What a minibar!! Snacks, water, alcoholic beverages at a hefty price. But very nice. The bed was super comfortable with excellent AC, and the bathroom is divine!!! Huge walk-in shower that's rainfall magnificent. Excellent water pressure, and an area of privacy in the toilet area. Nice touch on the Le Labo toiletries. My only irk..... too many chairs in my room. I had housekeeping remove one! Very cramped with too many chairs. The very dark hallways are supposed to be mood lighting, but it's more hard to see where you're going. AVOID: In-Room dining.... Most I've dealt with were not pleasant, and your order will arrive in 2 hours or not at all. Very frustrating. My favorite..... the rooftop bar, pool, and lounge chairs. The drinks are well worth it! Blended to perfection! The smallish pool was refreshing, but the breathtaking atmosphere and views were just as pleasing to the eye, and epic at nighttime. Go at nighttime, and you'll see why!!! During my 3-days stay, I've had issues with certain staff members. Some were friendly and helpful and some gave attitude. And this is why this review is given 4 stars! I ask you ALL Yelpers this.... When you do stay at The Hotel Swexan, or have stayed here already, do you think this place is Michelin Key worthy??? Ask yourself that question. Would I return??? Maybe or maybe not. I've stayed at some very impressive hotels in my life, and I'm blessed. I have some serious high expectations, what I look for, etc. My overall experience, nice hotel. But for the price point, and what I went through getting hassled by certain staff members, I expected better. And there's my experience......

Overall no complaints, staff is very friendly and helpful. Easy to locate, valet parking and also a parking garage directly beside the location. There is a small lounge area where they serve drinks not far from where you enter.

Hotel Swexan is excellent. My work booked this for our team. I heard nothing but praises from them and I agree. This was only a few blocks from our office. Rooms were modern and spacious. Everything felt new as they opened about two years ago. They serve food and drinks by the rooftop pool if you have a room key. There's also a bunch of restaurants downstairs. Great job everyone at Hotel Swexan.

This is such a nice hotel. From the moment you arrive, the staff is kind and attentive. The check-in process was easy, and it didn't take long. Elevators work with room keys. From the minute you walk in, it smells nice. The elevators and room floors are clean. The room isn't huge, but it's well-laid out with a small seating area upon entry. There's a bar area with great selections and snacks, as well as a coffee area directly behind it, next to the closet. There's a desk with a chair that's big enough for working, and two additional chairs in front with enough space. A beautiful view of the outside is available from both sides of the room, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also a fantastic view from the bathroom, located by the tub. And let me tell you the BED! It's so comfortable, which is a first for me. Usually, the beds in most hotels aren't great, but this bed and pillows are exceptional. There are also plugs and a USB outlet next to the bed on the nightstand, and the temperature at night was also good and remained at the selected setting. Now let me tell you about this bathroom. Everything you needed to wash your hands, hair, body, and shower cap, as well as makeup remover wipes, Q-tips, and lotion, was included, along with a bar of soap for hand washing. And they were all Le Labo, and it smells great after you shower. And the housekeeping staff was also very friendly. The note and the chocolate at night were a nice touch. I didn't get to try any amenities because it was a quick turnaround trip, but it's definitely a must if you can splurge. It's also within walking minutes to the American Airlines Center and other restaurants. Very convenient

Had a great experience here. Arnold, the valet guy even gave me a ride to Ross to get some swim gear. Super nice guy. The steakhouse was amazing. We weren't that hungry, but really enjoyed multiple apps..

Day one and, so far, Hotel Swexan is a pure delight. The staff is warm, friendly and professional. The rooms are gorgeous and well appointed - Frette linens, Le Labo toiletries, clever mini bar, extra pillows and new magazines. The high ceilings make the room feel spacious. We had cocktails at the pool bar which is lovely. Server Chris was cheerful and makes a terrific margarita. Very happy with our experience so far!

    Welcome to the Swexan

Happy Fourth of July long weekend We were looking for a family friendly, world class, wellness staycation and settled for this boutique, hole in the wall, like-new, hidden gem. What is this place doing in Dallas?! lol. The hotel construction is beautiful, the amenities are design and function driven, and the in hotel dining options alone are well worth the visit as hotel guests. We love that the Swexan supports people and families who eat together. In terms of this being a design destination, there is supposedly some Japanese and Swedish influences here also, but I had a hard time pointing anything out specifically. There were also a few hiccups with the hotel service after we checked in. Namely the in-room phone wasn't functioning properly and some of the staff don't seem that happy to be here (bummer). But we're having a great time with the best in-room dining and are jazzed to check out historic Neimans and Stanley Korshak. The wellness options are also a little old fashioned - the wet and dry saunas are clean and the roof top pool is a major plus in the summer heat, but there isn't a full service, in-house spa a la the Ritz or Crescent Court. What if you guys invested in a hyperbaric oxygen wellness chamber? Just a modern wellness thought. Aside from these very old-fashioned, historic Texas wellness compromises, we are loving our stay here and feel transported to a faraway land without having to suffer the TSA pat-downs, flight delays, and terrible airline seating we've been beaten into accepting as unavoidable in family travel.

Even if you are only stopping by for coffee/cocoa, this space is so warm and inviting. The Swexan's hot cocoa was an entire experience! Wow!!!

Came here for business trip. Stayed for 14 days…read more Coworkers recommended this location as it sits in Downtown Dallas. The hotel is nice, however outside the hotel it's not nice. There's lots of homeless people outside and not safe in my opinion. Just beware when booking. There wasn't many highly rated restaurants near Omni hotel, had to drive to places. They also host lots of events outside the hotel on their lawn. Hotel is nice. Staffs are super polite and trained. Everything is clean and super decorative. Hotel has restaurants on the first floor, they have small pool, small gym, and spa which you have to pay for. I stayed for two weeks and needed my clothes washed. The hotel does have a service where they send it out to get it washed. But it was insanely expensive. To wash a shirt was around $10. It would have cost me like $150-$200 for a week worth of clothes. I drove 20 min to the nearest coin laundry and spent couple dollars. Would love to see coin laundry in the hotel. Gym: The gym has dumbbells that only go up to 75lb. No barbells. The machine to do back, arms, etc were uncomfortable to use. Pool: Pool is on the same floor as the gym. Can see downtown Dallas. I think it's infinity pool(?) but it's pointing to the hotel building rather than facing downtown Dallas. Room: Room was super nice. The A/C is amazing, works very well. As soon as I got back to room, I set room to 62F. Then to 68F when i got cold. I stayed for 14 days and found out on my last day that there's a fridge hidden in the cabinet. I was super upset about that. The soaps, shampoo, etc are nice. The staff gives you new set even if you are using them and not empty. Price: My rate was $170 through business portal. So probably cheaper. For 14 days (13 nights), I paid little over $3000 due to various taxes and parking your rental car is like $30(?) a day. Really nice hotel, fast elevators, has gym/spa, near freeway and in Downtown Dallas. I just didn't like the environment as soon as you leave the hotel, feels unsafe.

Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing, especially considering the price we paid…read more To start, parking costs an additional $20 per night, which would be understandable if it were convenient, but it is not. The parking garage is a significant distance from the rooms, making it a long walk every time you need to get to or from your vehicle. Check-in was smooth enough, but the staff was not particularly welcoming or friendly. When we got to our first room, it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, and the air conditioning didn't appear to be working at all. The room was extremely hot. We were moved to a second room, which looked identical and had the same strong smoke odor. After two failed room attempts, we requested a refund, but were told it would have to be handled through Expedia. We were also told that Expedia typically does not issue refunds, which left us feeling like we had very few options. Since that wasn't practical at the time, we settled for a third room. The third room was slightly better, but we were downgraded from our original bed arrangement to two full-size beds. This was very inconvenient because there were three adults in our group, and we specifically booked our original room arrangement to accommodate everyone comfortably. Having to share smaller beds was not what we paid for or expected. On the first day, the toilet clogged and continuously ran, requiring maintenance. The elevator felt unsafe and unreliable, one of the escalators was out of service, and construction was taking place throughout the property. What was most concerning was that several comments from staff suggested these issues are common. The front desk agent moved us to a higher floor and stated she "normally doesn't have problems with those rooms," which implies she is aware that problems regularly occur in other rooms. When moving us to the third room, another employee said, "If you have a problem with this one too, just call so you don't have to walk all the way back down here," which again made it seem like room complaints are an everyday occurrence. The bartender was also surprisingly rude. We asked if she could make a mocktail for our pregnant friend, and her response was simply, "Just tell me what you want me to put in it," delivered with an attitude that made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. What made this even more frustrating was that the drinks at the bar were far from cheap. When guests are paying premium prices for food and beverages, basic courtesy and customer service should be expected. To make matters worse, the roof was leaking in multiple areas throughout the property, with trash cans and towels placed around to catch water. We are not people who typically leave negative reviews or complain. We even tried to speak with someone before leaving to provide feedback, but were essentially met with a quick "sorry" and nothing more. We weren't looking for free items or compensation; even a small gesture of concern would have gone a long way. Instead, it felt like nobody cared about the issues we experienced. To top it all off, after explaining everything we had dealt with during our stay, the response we received was simply, "Sorry. Make sure you leave your key in the drop box." That pretty much summed up the level of customer service we experienced throughout our stay. Overall, between the extra parking fees, inconvenient parking situation, cigarette-smelling rooms, broken amenities, plumbing issues, ongoing construction, roof leaks, the room downgrade, expensive bar prices, and the lack of customer service, this was not the experience we expected and is not a hotel we would choose to stay at again.

The reservation required prepayment, was nonrefundable, just shy of $5k per night and required additional paperwork. This was my second time reserving this room in the past year. I flew in from Fort Lauderdale, stayed in a smaller suite the first night. The following morning, I was informed that the penthouse would not be available because the current occupant had an emergency and the hotel "was obligated" to allow them to remain. I was moved to a different penthouse, given a significant discount, and treated professionally by management. However, the issue was never the discount. The issue was that the accommodation I specifically selected, prepaid for, and planned my trip around was not honored. The Loft Penthouse was nice. The staff was courteous. But after traveling from Florida for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion, I left with the understanding that even a prepaid, nonrefundable reservation for a specialty suite may not actually be secure. That's something future guests should know when making their plans. What troubles me most is that this occurred during the FIFA Club World Cup, when Dallas was hosting numerous athletes, celebrities, executives, sponsors, and VIP guests. While I have no way of knowing who remained in the penthouse, it is difficult not to notice that a reservation I made nearly two weeks in advance, prepaid in full, and completed additional paperwork for was the reservation that was displaced. If the Penthouse and Loft Penthouse were truly equivalent accommodations, there should have been no issue relocating the guest who extended their stay to the Loft Penthouse rather than relocating the guest who had prepaid for the Penthouse nearly two weeks in advance. The partial refund that was offered, does not restore the experience that I booked and planned around. What I experienced was unfulfillment of a contractual obligation from the hotel's end while I kept my end of the contractual obligation. Whether I was the least important person in the room or simply the easiest to inconvenience - What was done cannot be undone.

Floor 9 is Pop Art (bold and graphic). Floor 10 is Cinematic History (Hollywood glamour). Floor 11 is The Tina Turner Tribute. Floor 12: Skyline / Skye Ballroom event level with massive floor-to-ceiling windows. We stayed in Floor 7, which is "Literary Noir" (drama and mystery). We had a broken, blinking Neon sign, a wobbly ceiling fan, broken blinds, matchbooks full of phone numbers, an unfinished manuscript, an ashtray full of cigarettes, and a dead body in the tub. Not really. But we did have a giant seven foot "desk lamp", a paintbrush and frame above our bed, and and a carpet made from Hamlet quotes in Room 704. Dining: Hamilton's is the main on-site restaurant and bar, with a host or hostess in the lobby smiling at us when we walked in. Taco Enzo and Kolache Korner are in the refurbished shipping containers in the massive parking lot. The lobby store is small and not cheap but it beats a vending machine, especially if you want an ice cream sandwich or fingernail clippers. The "South Beach" pool is saltwater, so it's softer on the skin, eyes, and hair and avoids red eyes, green hair, and pool smell. Location: Though the Cedars district is the industrial historic heart of the Dallas arts scene, it's a bit gritty and has *freeway noise*, with gentrification friction, being a patchwork of high-end luxury lofts sitting right next to dilapidated industrial warehouses, making it feel half vibrant but half abandoned. The Walkability Score is 73, thanks to massive railroad tracks, the I-30, current construction, and inconsistent sidewalks. Be warned this isn't a tree-lined, window-shopping destination like Uptown or Bishop. Finding food, a drink, and even a movie will be much easier than groceries or a pharmacy (though drugs is a different story). Service: Everyone was awesome, especially Precious, who was, like her name Precious. That explains why they don't hire Dicks.

About the Hotel I don't know the history of the hotel but I can tell it's a well kept older hotel. I like how they kept some elements of its legacy. The lighting, the mail chute and more, add to the charm of this place. The lobby is a modern twist with an emphasis on audio entertainment. There are a lot of record albums on display as art. There's a small walk up cafe for quick bites and drinks and you can take a comfy seat in the lobby to enjoy your snack. From the lobby, you can peer down into and access the Toussaint restaurant and bar. About our Room Our room (603) was spacious and functional. It included a king bed, 2 large side tables, a round bistro table with one chair, a large flat screen TV above a long counter to drop some of your stuff onto. It had a large wardrobe for hanging clothing plus a valuable safe. It had a bar with glassware and coffee service (Keurig). The bathroom was spacious and functional, though the sliding entry door did leave a large gap, taking a bit of privacy away from the commode area. If there was a con for this room, I'd say it was lighting and lack of outlets on one side of the bed. The room did have lighting, but it was very dim. Convenience We really loved the location of the Saint Elm. It was nearly next door to the Majestic Theater where we were going for a concert. The front desk guy tells me that he's made a concoction of sorts that gets rid of mold and he's left it in my room for me to apply it in the shower. A VERY WTF moment!! Bro I don't work here, and don't know enough about this chemistry experiment you've cooked up. I go back downstairs and they finally give me a new room. I'm not much of a complainer and I have a clean new room so let's just sleep and see what the next day bring. I wake up and decide to hit the breakfast. I grab some undercooked bacon and potatoes, as I'm grabbing juice I notice the employees were closing everything down (five minutes early but I get it) the really weird/annoying thing was that they were turning the lights off on all the people still eating. It felt like last call at a seedy dive bar. Like I said, I understand wanting to go home but turning the lights out on your guests was a complete and utter FAIL. My last notch in the complain column is that the building itself could really use some attention. When it was raining the ceiling by the front door was flooding like a TLC song. The elevators never seemed clean either. So if I'm going all Final Justice on my review why did I give it a three star and not a one? All the positives come from the front desk agents. Jasmine was the best agent I've had the pleasure to deal with in almost a decade. She was warm, welcoming, and quick as a whip. Every day that I came downstairs she had a different suggestion on where I should go and what I should eat. Honestly if I was building a management team from the ground up, I would poach Jasmine in a heartbeat. So yes on the strength of one employee a hotel gained two stars. Otherwise I can't really recommend stay here until they make some major changes
