Not sure why this HEB has such a low rating. It is big and has lots of produce. My first visit to this HEB at College Station was enjoyable. I also ended up buying Chinese food at a discount (the owner wanted to give away the leftover food before closing) at a restaurant inside the HEB. I am happy with this place. If I'm back to Texas A&M and need groceries (or cheap Chinese food)- I will be baaaack. Since Kaliko asked what h-e-b stands for : HEB's CEO was Howard Edward Butt who named the store after himself, hence HEB. The store's slogan is "Here Everything's Better", so many presume that this is what HEB stands for. read more

Heb! I need somebody! Heb! Not just anybody! Heb! You know I need someone! Heb! This is a very popular HEB Store on the border between Bryan and College Station, and they have a lot of good products and are a little bit more friendly than some of HEB stores in Houston that I don't like as much. It's one of the better grocery stores in the area, but it does have its issues and some things are overpriced, but generally it's better than most. read more

The young lady tonight (9:30ish) with the purple nails working self checkout by herself is the nastiest ,and rudest person. I recently lost my ID and was issued a paper one from the DMV she refused to accept it and was so disrespectful talking about me when she called her manager acting like I could not hear her.I was able to prove to her my age and I have my Aggie ring and an alternate form of ID, it truly felt like she was racially discriminating me because of her mannerisms and her attitude towards me (I am a Latina Woman). I do not understand how people like her have a job in customer service. I shop at this H-E-B regularly and think it's outstanding. Their produce is amazing. They have a sushi bar there and they will make fresh sushi rolls for you upon request. They have a decent beer and wine selection and the folks there are helpful. I also find their app to work well when I'm looking for a specific item at this location. The flower shop is wonderful and I have frequently purchased flowers there and taken them home to use at my table for Christmas or Thanksgiving dinners. Keep up the good work. read more

This has to be the worst HEB in the B/CS area. The produce section is always low or unavailable. If the produce are available, the vegetables are wet, soggy, and discolored or the fruit is bruised. The store is always have pallet people just working in the middle of the isles all the time. If you ask an employee, they don't have the slightest clue where stuff is at. The HEB app is your best friend in this store. I rather hire the app than the employees working there. The curbside is by far the most irritating of the whole operation. The location is horrible - right in front of the busiest area. The employees just throw your groceries in the back as if you have pillows in the trunk. I rather drive a little further to get better service. The ONLY good thing about this place is the Chinese restaurant located inside. Other than that, shut it down. read more

The curbside at this location is absolutely terrible, for the past 3 curbsides I've placed they've at least forgotten 2 items never fails.

The produce (fruits & veggies) are amazing at HEB with variety and robust selections. staff is friendly and approachable. I'm usually greeted with a smile. I love HEB! read more

My Southern (south-er of Dallas) friends always rave about H-E-B, and although this isn't the best one I've been to, I enjoy their selections that can, at times, outboast Walmart and the like. It's hard to find personnel to assist with questions, though. :/ read more

I've hit this HEB many times over the years and never had a complaint. It's not new and shiny like some HEB's, but it's not a dumpster fire either. If an older store is still well-run with food selection, etc, I can't fault it for being older. Same good HEB selection, same good prices, same good employees. Today I went to HEB which I dreaded but I had no choice since curbside is so bad right now with people still hoarding like it's the apocalypse. Anyway so I bought some ground beef and the color was bright red which shows the meat is for the most part fresh. However when I got home the top layer was hiding the fact that the rest of the meat was grey which indicates expiring meat. I'm appalled that in this crisis HEB would attempt to sale expired meat and cover it up. I depend on HEB for my groceries and I just find this so disappointing. read more

Two years in a row, specifically asked for a "WHITE" cake with butter creme icing, nothing fancy, just a fresh cake. Both this year and last year got home, see the label stating white cake with buttercream icing only to get home, cut cake and surprise... Chocolate cake! If you like chocolate, no big deal, no one in our house likes chocolate, so needless to say, very, very disappointed! The folks at the store last year were very apologetic, not so much this year, although they did replace the cake... All acted like what's the big deal, chocolate, white... Who cares It's a cake!? 30-45 minute wait at customer service/business center is absolutely ridiculous. Customer service is very poor. Hassle over return with a receipt for a product I bought last week. Treated rudely by 2 managers. Although, not posted anywhere, customers are supposed to know that certain items are not allowed to be returned even if defective or even if unopened & accompanied by receipt. When I asked a manager to show me where it is posted for customer to see she brought out a printed copy of store policy. How was I supposed to know the policy when I made the purchase? Rich, the store manager, rudely grabbed the paper from my hand & said the other manager shouldn't have given it to me. He refused to give me his business card when asked. What's wrong with this guy? Is a $30 return worth bad reviews, a letter to corporate, and the loss of a 20+ year customer? Hello Kroger, here I come! read more

This H-E-B seems to be contracting even more than the College Station store. After its first year, 2004, their beer section variety shrank. They haven't carried any Canadian beer for 2-2 1/2 years, and Labatt for more than 3. Albertsons on Univ. Dr. has a better selection by a wide margin. Within the last 1-2 weeks, the Caribbean section in the international foods aisle completely vanished. For some strange reason this store had a better selection of H-E-B brand gourmet coffees. That is until the C.S. store started carrying Central Market brand gourmet coffees. read more

Rude, slightly dirty store. Other HEB stores seem cleaner with a better lay-out. What's with the floor plan here?! You have to walk ALL THE WAY AROUND the center bakery and deli to grab a loaf of bread?! EXHAUSTING! Rude employees that obviously don't care about you or their "terrible job". I'm not a fan of the poor selection of products and food, I always have to go to other stores to get everything on my list. The seafood and meat just don't seem all that great. It doesn't have that appealing, clean, modern, friendly, good selection kinda vibe I'm used to in nicer HEB stores in Houston. I'm also not a fan of demographics, it's a little sketchy here. This HEB is just okay. It lacks a lot of the fancier stuff that I shop for, like fancy mustards, cheeses, soups, and stuff. It's near my house, but I'll typically go to the one in south College Station because it's (somehow) quicker to get there, the selection is way better, the lines are shorter/faster, and the employees are a lot more friendly. This one doesn't have as good a bakery selection as other HEBs, but it does have some really good stuff if you're making Mexican food from scratch, like tons of dried chiles you can't find at the other HEBs. The employees at the registers here just talk amongst themselves about weekend plans and stuff while checking you out, rather than greeting you like they do at other HEBs. They talk loudly, and laugh and junk and just have this tiny little barely-even-look-at-you "hi". Everyone whose helped me in the meat department and elsewhere on the floor has been nice and not shouted at their friends while helping me. Once, it started downpouring as soon as I walked out, and there were associates outside with umbrellas walking customers to cars. That's HEB! The other thing about this HEB is that it has long lines. It's more of a family HEB, as opposed to a student HEB like the central College Station. Like biiiig families, two cartload families. Bee line for the self checkout or an express lane if you can, the other lanes will be very slow because of giant cartloads and people dealing with kids and being inattentive. It is crazy bananas packed around food-related holidays. read more

I buy their fresh tortillas on the REGULAR. Muyyyy delicioso. Great customer service, super fresh fruits and vegetables, better meat than most, and great sushi options! The layout could use improvement with better access to the check-outs, but I definitely appreciate the selection and having a gluten free section. read more

They always close the customer service center early. I got there at 7:56 and they are already closed. So I asked if their hours changed from their sign and he said no. I said well it says you close at 8 not 7:56. He turned around and laughed and started closing the machines out. Smh. This heb is getting worse and worse by the day. read more

Ugh I'm really starting to hate this store. Unpleasant atmosphere, a sea of the sad dregs of humanity. Reminds me of NYC pre-Giuliani, and sometimes like a Walking Dead episode. Produce section is shrinking, I guess because most locals derive their nutrition from Chick fil A, Taco Bell, or Burger King. Store has become unbearably crowded and you now have to park a mile away and walk there to shop. There is an ATM machine there that charges a $4 fee, which means it is a thief, deliberately placed here to rob poors. The one star is for the long suffering and overwhelmed staff who have to put up with all this. I genuinely feel for them, I really do. Some of them look like they are ready to jump off a bridge. Sadly the new Aldi sucks too, or I'd go there. Fortunately the main CS HEB isn't too far away. read more

Looking for consumers who were defrauded by HEB stores in the Brazos Valley to join a class action suit. We contend that HEB falsely advertises the availability of Meat Department items for sale at reduced prices, advertises those prices and availability in stores and in newspapers, then does not make those items available to consumers. Nor does HEB offer to consumers a "raincheck", a common form of remedying the problem. We contend that this is a pattern of behavior by HEB, and that this tort amounts to fraud in the inception. This business practice is specifically prohibited under Texas law (Bus. & Com. §17.50). It is described in law under the named subjects of "false advertising", "bait and switch", and "low stock scam". We seek consumers willing to take the time and effort to experience the fraud, document the fraud, and provide documentation to attorneys. There is the possibility of financial compensation from the class action suit, if the complainants prevail. The amount of damages and compensation is not known at this time. This store probably goes through bag like crazy bc the girls are literally putting one item per bag. I get it that items like bread might need their own bag, but every other item? Not only that I had so many bags for my less than 30 items that the girls did not give me 2 of the things I paid for. Sad part is I didn't realize it until a couple days later bc I went shopping at 8pm and just wanted to put things away ASAP. Thanks heb, might as well call it stealing from your customers when your baggers don't give your customers all their paid for items, nor did either of them try to tell me as I was leaving or came to give it to me. Passing a kidney stone is a wonderful thing to start doing at 12:53 A.M. After 9 hours of pain, I was given medication to relax me and soothe the pain. After being prescribed my medications, I chose to go to the pharmacy here because HEB is my favorite grocery store. While the groceries might be nice, the pharmacy is not. Being drugged up and in partial pain while sleep deprived makes you quite delirious and doing normal things unusually difficult. Rather than make it easy to get my medications to help pass this and keep me sane, HEB did nothing to help. They had 3 hours to make a simple phone call to my insurance provider. I am writing this in pain, and I highly recommend going to a 24 hour pharmacy. Never go to the HEB pharmacy if it's a medical is an issue concerned with pain. read more

Worst. H-E-B. EVER. Not only is it the worst HEB I've ever shopped at, it is one of the worst run grocery stores I've ever been in. I've shopped there enough to know unfortunately. Why? Convenience. For one it's like the only time they don't stock is after hours. Obviously sick employees, shirtless employees, rude employees, open products on the shelf. Spoiled perishable items. Support pets pooping in the aisle. Pan handlers waiting at the exits. Masks? Social distancing? Haha! And probably one of the grossest, employees bleeding on your products and leaving it. Yep. That's happened, too. And I'm just one person who occasionally shops there for convenience, and there are always problems. But I don't blame the hourly workers. I blame management. Leadership sets the tone. The only thing I can figure is it is such a high volume location, the numbers must be good, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Its success masks the problems. And when no one is watching, things suffer. For example, one time a man was sleeping in the parking lot. Very obviously. Stretched out on the ground motionless. People all around, workers gathering carts, etc. I was concerned about him and called the police non-emergency line to request a wellness check. It was news to them. They were asking me where he was, what he was wearing and what not, and I began to wonder why no one else had apparently done anything. I was driving through the parking lot in a friend's vehicle. A young white kid collecting baskets/carts intentionally rammed them into my right rear tire on Saturday. I got out yelling at him, and he walked away from me. A young lady yelled at him too, and he said, "maybe you should slow down!" while continuing to walk away. This supermarket is not bad, though it's obvious it has a lot of Hispanic customers. It carries a lot of products you won't find in the other H-E-B stores, including a selection of Latin beverages. But it lacks in other things: the international section has been whittled down to very little non-Hispanic, and the self-serve bakery container has a lot of pan dulces. But it's not as upscale as even the College Station, there's no bulk items, where you can bag it yourself. It also falls prey to the "why is this item located in two different areas"--walnuts weren't in the nut aisle, it was somewhere else. I'll give credit for the "Shanghai Wok" place, it's not the best Chinese place in town by a long shot, but it's cheap and relatively tasty (provided you get the right things). I don't know if it has white rice, though. I personally think that having Shanghai Wok here pays homage to the fact that the site is a former mall, because a lot of malls have some cheap Chinese food stand. Still, I only stop here because I go to Blinn a lot, because I think that the College Station location is the best well-rounded store. read more

This was my closest HEB before we moved. I can't tell you how many times I ended up purchasing items that the packaging was already open (usually by a razor that sliced a package open when unpacking boxes). It had gotten bad enough that I would have to throughly look over an entire item before placing in my shopping cart. It wasn't until we recently moved that I realized the selection wasn't the best either. So glad we moved and Tower Point location is closer. read more
