The prices are reasonable and they even carry some more obscure brands of ramen and snacks I haven't been able to find in other Asian grocers in the area. Was looking for Ox Tails as my fiance loves them and I can never find them in the regular grocery store. This supermarket is amazing! I ended up finding the ox tails which were fresh and meaty, and I even got some fresh veggies as well as the selection is superb and the regular grocery store chains cannot hold a candle to the produce that Hmart has. The store is clean and neat and the different varieties of foods are amazing and everything is so fresh! A carton of jumbo eggs was $.99. Went to H Mart for the first time due to a recommendation and scored on some real great healthy tea. A Korean Apricot Concentrate Tea. Thanks to one of their great associates. They also have Lobster on sale for as low as $4.99 per lb if I'm not mistaken. This store just opened on the 9th and business is booming! Better hit this store up while you can. read more

Good place to buy everything you need about fresh food and produce cheaper than Giant. (What is a big deal for me). They have a LOT of varieties of world food (what I love!). Some another things (non fresh products) are more expensive than walmart and giant but if you have some urgency its a great store because there are different stuff to sell. Sometimes can be a struggle to find something more "special" because many products are imported from Asia and I can't read it otherwise I wanna try everything! lol read more

I've been going to H-Mart since childhood and I am so glad to have one closer to home and not have to drive all the way to Fairfax or Annandale for an H-Mart. They have a majority of the Korean go-to foods and snacks, including plenty of junk food but not everything I can find an a Super H-Mart (which is expected.) Please bring marinated bulgogi, kim bap, and Big Thunder chocolate bars to this location and I will be set! I really like that they have a restaurant and bakery inside the store, which is very typical of large Korean grocery stores. I did go later in the day, so hopefully they have more options during the day. They also have an extensive collection of household supplies for super cheap! read more

This location is so clean and big compared to my go to Hmart in Annandale. Their seafood and meat seem fresher and they have a larger selection of everything. I wish my hmart was like this one. Theres plenty of parking and they have a cafe and a restaurant inside. The cafe was just okay but the restaurant looked like they had a lot of options and they had a lot of customers. I really want to go back to try some of their soups and rice bowls. There is also a restroom near the fresh seafood section. read more

This H-mart is so much cleaner, bigger and well stocked with fresh everything than other H-marts in the area. On weekends, there are so many free sample stations, always fun to try out new delicious items. I love coming here to get all of our groceries. read more

This location is so much better than Annandale. Granted it is newer so the space is bigger and cleaner. I normally dread grocery shopping on the weekends but that's when produce is fresh and plentiful. I don't mind it so much anymore with the Burke HMart. Even when it's crowded, I don't feel as claustrophobic as I did at the Annandale location. I really like the addition of the K Town food court and bakery too. read more

One of the larger Hmarts in the area and it's clean! I really like coming here for things other than fruits and veggies because, every time, I can only find bruised items - which is disappointing. The food court offers good food too when I want pre-made food, as well as the stuff in the refrigerated section. I have not bought meat or seafood from here so I'm not sure if the quality. Considering I eat the meat and seafood from their pre-made stuff in the food court, I'm sure it's fine! I honestly come here for the snacks, which is abundant! read more

It is a grocery store and meets expectations for such. Beyond expectations it typically has some of the best produce at best prices in area. Over the years it's selection seems to have become more limited, but still varied and plenty. It has a nice cafe with tasty Korean food to ear-in, take-away, or prepared and packaged. It has a fresh fish counter, but that quality has declined from a 5 to about a 3, 3.5. H Mart is clean, most staff pleasant and helpful. We shop here regularly. Thank you for considering this review. You can certainly find a wide variety of Fresh fruits and vegetables than you would at your neighborhood supermarkets i.e. Giants, Shoppers. Their meats and seafood departments are always well stocked with fresh quality items. Of course I only go there to purchase fruits, vegetables and sea foods since their other "everyday" items are priced higher that the supermarkets mentioned. With that said I do feel that they are increasing their prices gradually. Their cashews have jumped from $3.99 (forgot the size container) to a ridiculously exorbitant $11.99 (same size) also their cut up chicken which normally averages around $5.99 a pack has slowly been increasing. While they do have items that are hard to find in other mainstream supermarkets I can't help but feel that they are sneakily increasing their prices. read more

It would be helpful if SOMEONE on staff spoke English. I'm not looking for all staff to converse in English but at least one person in the store on each shift who can be called upon to help those of us who speak English. The supermaket is new and is very clean. All of the food products were fresh but I didn't really appreciate the customer service. I bought a big bag of rice at checkout and usually at all the other grocery stores someone helps to put the rice on my cart but no one helped me in this location. So I had to struggle to carry the rice onto my cart. Also, they had a promotion to give to all the new customers but told me they had run out of all the products that day. They told me that they would give me the products once they got more but the next time I went they refused to give me the products. Clean and fresh foods but bad customer service. read more

I love this store. It's bright and clean, much nicer than the Heritage Drive location. The produce here looks fresher. Love the bakery. They have a big selection of Japanese items, which is what I'm generally looking for. I don't understand Korean, but it is helpful that the price tags on the shelf have the name of the product in English. I would probably have given this store a 5 if it had more organic vegetables. I'd like to try the restaurant or cafe. They both look very inviting. read more

I stopped in here today out of curiosity on my way back from my storage unit. This is a Korean grocery store in what used to be a Safeway. It is a full-service grocery store with both Asian and non-Asian or mainstream groceries. The best part is a deli in which you can sit down to eat or get takeout. I got beef over rice which was good. Included was a soup similar to Japanese miso soup. The service was quick and friendly. This is a good place to come in for a quick bite. read more

*The bakery refry their donuts and reuse again!! The fresh donuts are light brown and the refried are dark brown and harden. The green tea boba $4.50 is literally flavorless. It's colored green and taste like water blended with ice. Don't waste your money and buy yourself an Icee at 7-11. Restaurant: Soggy! Soggy pork tangsuyook. It was the worst. The kitchen needs to learn how to fry. What a waste of money for $13.99. I do not recommend at all. The foodcourt lady was very rude. Asking why I only ordered one dish for two people. It was the only menu option I was craving and it's none of our business. Incredibly rude!! Bakery: Please use toothpicks for your bread samples! People are using their fingers around the samples. They grab a piece and then grab another after licking their fingers. Yuck. The bakery employee lady seems annoyed by these people. Stop being cheap over supplies and use toothpicks! Admittedly, I was there opening day. It was crazy-busy. No chance of a cart or hand basket. I parked behind the store, near the loading dock. There were zero parking spaces in the rest of the center. Everything was fresh and clean, and the people were friendly. Lots of yummy free samples (I'll take free steak anytime, even if it's served in a plastic tasting cup.) it doesn't seem to be as large as the Fairfax H Mart,. The layout of this one is better than the Annandale one. There's a little cafe inside the Burke H Mart with cakes and coffee, and a Korean fast food (for want of a better term) restaurant in the back. I was impressed. If you don't like crowds, or an international vibe, just stay away. If food from the Asian diaspora appeal to you, and Wegmans sized crowds are cool with you come check it out. I love the convenience of having an Hmart so close to me now. They're particularly good when you're looking for that ONE obscure ingredient. They're fresh fruit and veggie sections are massive and well priced and you can always find something you've never tried. They always have people out sampling and there's almost always one for fruits and that's how I learned I loved the tasted of persimmon! I would have never know without her sample! I came here the other day to get rice noodles for pho I made and sure enough, they had like forty kinds. They had multiple types of everything I was looking for, which is nice if you want an option sometimes. I highly recommend the restaurant at the back of the store, I've ordered a few items and have not left disappointed. Also there little cafe has delicious and affordable drinks and all of the pastries and cakes are very yummy. I highly recommend the sesame bread. While you're here, also go to the skin care section because the face masks are great. The random item section in the back is perfect for interesting dishes and chopsticks with pretty patterns. I passed by the New H Mart on Opening Day and saw a sea of humanity and kept on my way. I did decide to go on Friday evening around 630 and had no issues parking. I was just so happy I don't have to venture out to Centreville or Fairfax. The store wasn't too crowded which was nice to move around. I bought the standard faire for my cooking: Tofu, Thai Basil, Thai eggplant, napa cabbage, lemongrass, kimchi, peppers, carrots, etc. And added some OB and Soju for fun. The staff is typical for the other H Marts. My only issue was after I checked out and got everything back home, I took a look at my receipt and noticed I paid $19 for 23.50 Lbs of carrots when I only had 2 sticks that weighed less than a pound. The following day I headed back to customer service and they were able to refund the $18. Nice store layout good selection of items. Overall OK, parking can be somewhat of a burden. read more

A small update reaffirming my concern that H-Mart is not doing business as mainstream supermarkets. I returned a small $5 unused kitchen utensil. I received a receipt indicating that the amount will be credited to my credit card. I waited three weeks and saw no credit (these things normally take 2-3 days). I went back and complained. The clerk went on the phone to the New York Headquarters and spoke Korean for a while, then came back with a lot of gibberish that "the New York office will handle this soon". I insisted on getting the credit right there and then walked away victoriously with my refund in cash. A small amount, indeed, but nobody likes being chiseled. Am I the only one who expects "normal" service at an American supermarket chain in 2019? read more

Kim Bap by JINGA, the bulgogi was rotten. The kimbap smelled off so I separated each ingredient and the meat in center smelled rotten. Please just throw away the bad meat instead of using it in the kimbap. read more

Today is November 10, 2016, just a few days after the The BIG ELECTION. And finally, they opened up the H-Mart in downtown Burke where the old dumpy Giant used to be. FINALLY! I don't know what they were doing but it took them long enough to finally open and the parking lot is during the work day like it never was before. And they have employees working all over the place. And they have a lot of customers -- for a week day. This Veterans Day weekend it should be even more crowded so I won't go wading into that ... .!!! It was all nicely laid out as H-Marts are. But it was reminiscent of the Giant layout, only newer, cleaner and gave the appearance of being even larger. (I still want to know what took them so long!?) So, I promised my wife I wouldn't buy much because she is trying to empty the refrigerator for one of her non-profit organization activities to fill up. I just bought 4 bags of fruits and vegetables that I thought were fresh and yummy looking but she's now angry with me -- go figure. They must have had about 20 or so sample stations of all types -- amazing! But, I must say, there is something wrong with these sample vendors that I have never seen at COSTCO or Safeway or Greenfest or other place where they give away samples. As an example, there was a Pokey (or pokke?) station with 3 cups of the chocolate covered sticks in them. I reached out for one of them and I was ASSAULTED. Not a body slam but my hands were slapped back like I was in TaeKwanDo class. So, I was frustrated in getting a Pokey chocolate covered stick. I asked -- "are they all the same?" somewhat sheepishly when I meant to say "What the Hell is the matter with you!?" I figured there was some reason why my hands were being slapped back but I wasn't going to ask why -- I just thought it must be a cultural thing like a greeting! "Slap! Slap! KAPOW!!! " I got an answer though! "No, there are three", and she whipped out all three types and passed them to me with her bare hands and not so much as a paper napking! God only knows what those hands had previously touched or whether I'd get herpes from it. hmmm, I wonder if the health department would allow them to hand out samples like that. I only wanted one but instead I got some hand slaps and 3 different chocolate sticks. A little more than I bargained for. I walked away sampling one of the sticks and not knowing what to do with the other superfluous two sticks. I STILL HAVEN'T figured out what that ritual was all about. I think they have their thing and they want to do it the way they want to do it without the customer getting in the way. Since there were other incidents, I'm thinking it's a power play -- they don't want customers to peck their pokey until the clerk gives the customer what they want to give the customer. In this case three served pokeys instead of one self-service pokey. I had a problem with the persimmon sample, too. I wanted TWO small pieces and the clerk didn't want to give me the second piece but finally yielded when my toothpick had already pierced the fruit and it was in mid-air on its way to my open mouth! Not sure, why they are so stingy in giving away samples -- never saw that at COSTCO or elsewhere and I'm not even sure that's why the picky pokey event occurred: If they wanted to offer 3 to the customer, then they should lay them out in threes -- all I wanted was to sample one and walk away. I followed sampling etiquette but they evidently have re-written the book. Go figure. There were other strange occurrences but I'll report them later! Today was Picky Pokey Persimmon Day! BTW, while I didn't buy the Pokke sticks, I did buy a bag of persimmons despite their stinginess in sampling because they were gooood! I'd post a photograph but there doesn't seem to be that option. read more

I spent five minutes waiting like an idiot at their seafood counter; although there were no other customers waiting and several employees behind the counter, no one bothered to serve me or even acknowledge my presence. After realizing that no one was going to help me, I went to Customer Service to complain. No one was there, either. STAY AWAY. read more

Just returned from HMart in Burke on the cold blustery day! What a nice surprise! All the employees ( and there were many) we helpful and polite. No one slapped my hands!! Very clean, produce is gorgeous! Lots of apples, tomatoes, lettuces, beautiful bananas, huge cantelope! Great prices. I am not of Asian descent, but enjoyed looking over the food items, fresh, frozen and packaged. The meats are well displayed, chicken very fresh, seafood great (absolutely no fishy smell and I am very picky!). Live Blue Louisiana Crabs. Lots of recipe ideas and tasty samples. Will definitely put this on my list in my top 3 grocery stores. Congratulations HMART! Keep the store as it is today and you will do very well!! read more
