We are longtime customers of H mart and I really wanted to love this supermarket. But more than once I got frozen foods that were already spoiled and that was just complete waste of money. Also the price tags they have on shelf are not always accurate. There were a few times that I was already at check out and saw different prices after they scanned the products. Instant noodles, snacks, canned tuna, coffee mixes, marinades, rice, kimchi and other pickles/fermented stuff, meats, seafood, frozen pancakes, etc! They stock not just Korean products but also uncommon items from other Asian cuisines. They also have a home goods section that is the hubs' favorite place to browse. Membership perks include discounts on marinated meats ready for grilling. Aisles are neatly stocked and organized logically. Free parking for an hour in the structure. Love this place for all my Korean needs, some Japanese. They now carry Tokyo banana, little bit pricey than if u go Japan but just to know they have it. Service is great, cashiers are nice. Place is bright so makes everything very visible. I wish they would have this store on the east side. Dadas chicken upstairs in the food hall is my place to go for the fried chicken. It's $9.99 a pound and I usually get two pounds. Shipment comes at random times, so it's hard to know when they have it. Luckily, my homie does security here. He calls me when it's in. They sell produce and meat like any other grocery store. They also sell poke and sashimi. It's ok, but not the best. I love Korean ice cream. They have a whole section full. read more

You can park in H-Mart customer parking stalls in the parking structure at 440 Keawe St or find street parking. For the parking structure, the first hour is free with validation. The store entrance is on the makai side of the building, which is next to the parking structure. Even though this H-Mart feels initially underwhelming, it's on-par with my experience in the mainland. H-Marts in Seattle were small and cramped feeling but the ones outside of the city (ex: Lynnwood) were much bigger and had more selection. This H-Mart does have a decent selection of produce, frozen items, meats, cookware, small electronics, etc. There is a seafood counter where you can order fresh/previously frozen whole fish. You can have them prepared in different ways (I forgot to take a photo of the sign that shows examples). There is a very small heated cabinet with bento and grab-and-go foods on the first floor. Otherwise, if you want something hot and filling to eat, you will need to check out/pay for any items first before heading to the second floor where the food court is. It's kind of awkward because you have to walk in a circle since the stairs/elevator to get to the second floor is in the middle of the building but I get that they're trying to prevent thefts. We stopped by at around 11:30am on a weekday. Surprisingly, Giovanni's (like the shrimp truck) was the only vendor that seemed to be very busy with lots of customers! I didn't walk around but it seemed like the rest of the food vendors were Asian food themed, including Ireh, if you're familiar with their restaurant. If you're in the mood for something sweet/cold, there's a desert place next to the stairs that serves milk tea, donuts, shave ice, etc. I feel like Palama Market has more selection, wider aisles, and it's closer to me. I would come back to this H-Mart again if I was in the area, though I wish they had more grab-and-go foods, bentos, and fresh banchan available. read more

This is one of my go to store if I'm in need of ramen, snacks, precut meats for yakiniku, shabu shabu, hot pot, BBQ, sukiyaki, you name it, they might just have it. They also sell seafood such as periwinkle, fish, squid and huge clams! They are almost her size of my palms. The vegetables are fresh but a bit pricey. H Mart is also one of the few stores that sells fresh quail eggs. I got to the store before 9:00 am so it was nice and quiet. It was the perfect serenity for buying what you need and getting out before the crowds makes you forget that you came for ;) The cashier aren't too friendly but it's ok. They are the last people you encounter just before you exit. It would be nice if they said hello or thank you or something. I'm giving them a 4 stars for the wide selection of items they import from food to drinks to snacks, ready to eat meals and housewares. And if you love tteoks (Korean rice cake) like I do, this is one of the place that carries a variety from garaetteok (plain, cylindrical rice cake, mujigaetteok (tri-colored rice cake), chapssaltteok (glutinous rice cake with filling), baekseolgi tteok (white snow rice cake), and so much more. It is so nice to have an Asian grocery store and food court located in the heart of downtown Honolulu. In a pinch when I can't make it to the grocery store I can easily walk to H mart to purchase my ingredients. The downstairs location is filled with many types of seafoods, drinks, vegetables and sauces! You can wander the tight aisles for a while examining the different ingredients. The prices for the grocery items are fair and not outrageously pricey. However, upstairs food court is another type of surrounding. The area is spacious with plenty of seating and there are a few restaurants from fried chicken, desserts, drinks, local fare. The prices for the lunches are a bit higher but I think it's because of the monopoly of Asian food court in the area. A lot of these establishments are serviced by small business owners. Very no frills and not too helpful. I did order Korean fare on my last trek there and thought spending $30 for 2 dishes a little not worth it. I would like to return another day to try Giovanni shrimp or ice cream or the mochi donuts! read more

Where to begin!? We love love love our visits to town because it means a trip to HMart! This is hands down our go to place for frozen dumplings! Our obsession first began by watching Strictly Dumpling on YT. He does a ton of reviews on HMart products... dumplings, noodles, Kim chee, rice cakes. Drool city! This location does NOT disappoint! They don't have ALL the products that may be shown in some review videos for the overall chain but with sooooo many amazing options, we don't mind! They also have an amazing selection of frozen Korean corn dogs and specialty drinks. We discovered basil seed drinks here but we haven't been able to find them anywhere since COVID so we worry they may not be produced anymore. Boo. Sadness. Oh but the corndog selection? Potato covered (my favorite cuz it's like having French fries with each bite... YUMMERS), fish cake filled, cheese ones too! Seaweed salads and Kim chee in soooo many variations! It's a tad tight in the aisles but it's still spacious enough for me to maneuver with my smallish electric scooter or wheelchair. There's an elevator in the middle of the store to get to the food court on the 2nd floor. Local brewery and Black Sheep Creamery for afternoon cravings. If you love coffee ice cream, the BSC Mojo Jojo is AMAZING!!! Hubs always grabs a Giovanni hot dog... they are straight up addicting with extra sauce!! The store has a wide variety of items for any Asian product you might need. Their produce section was small and limited. The isles felt so packed that it was hard to get two carts to go past each other. Plus if they were stocking shelves with a large cart it created such a backlog. They have an array of fresh, frozen, non perishable food items along with a section of dishware like food grade containers or those cute little golden pots you see on social media. Towards the back is their seafood counter with fresh fish and even live lobster and crabs. It was very busy checking out and they definitely need to keep all lines open. Upstairs they had eateries and the bathrooms. The bathrooms are really nice. The food we have tried and it was nice and open. Parking garage next door has a free one hour validation for hmart and even that was difficult for us to meet just shopping. There is street parking but at 2 on a Saturday it was packed. If we were to eat and shop, we probably couldn't do that in just an hour. read more

If you're into Asian goods and mainly food, then come to H-Mart in Kaka'ako. Located on the corner of Kaewe and Pohukaina with access to parking on Pohukaina, and being street parking is very limited around here, park in the structure and get your parking validated in the store. This location as 2 floors, where all the goods and groceries are on the 1st floor and the food court is on the 2nd. Access to the food court is either by elevator or stairs close to the kitchenware Items. Let's lay out the negatives and the reason for 4 stars. Parking or access to this location by vehicle is one of the 2 downsides to this location. Street parking is really convenient, if you can find one. The parking structure is a little small and tight to maneuver through, park and even to exit. But, if you can get through this hurdle then you face the next negative, the prices. The Asian goods are competitive but the local produce is a hit or miss and most times higher than other groceries joints. Their seafood and meat sections are also competitive, but are still a little higher than others. Besides those 2 main drawbacks, this place is a trip to Asia very time I walk in. My main objective when I do shop here is for the Asian goods. Banana milk, Strawbeery milk, Ramyeon, Makgeolli, or anything that I had in either Korea and Japan that tasted ono. The other bonus to this place is the food court. If you love the garlic shrimp from the north shore, or ice cream from central side, just come to H-Mart. I'll have to write those separate reviews for the joints in the food court, but Giovanni's, Black Sheep Cream, Left Wing, Ireh are just a few of all great places to snack at, and yes, they do charge a premium, but you do get what you pay for here. Seating is pretty ample and restrooms are located here also. Remember, you can NOT bring any UNPAID items from the 1st floor. Service here is friendly and approachable, and also helpful, compared to the ones I've visited in California lol. You will also find mainstream items at this location, but don't expect them to be competitive in price. One thing for sure, you are paying for the convenience to not go anywhere else but H-Mart. A nice place for lunch on the 2nd floor food court! Also downstairs shopping market for Korean and other oriental food! A pretty good selection of about half a dozen Korean food stalls, and Giovanni Shrimp. Had a place for Black Sheep (ice cream, but it wasn't open). Maybe for the after hour crowd... beer by the ounce! Looks like you can get a glass, swipe your card and enjoy a variety of beers! Also got a small bar area too! So definitely I will be visiting this place more often as it is a 5-6 minute walk from my work place! read more

The only reason why my gang and I stopped here was to check out the food court upstairs. It wasn't as impressive as how it was told to me by a coworker which was disappointing. It's a pretty sizeable area but there were only maybe six food stalls in operation including a bar and ice cream shop. Food selection wasn't thrilling either, so we decided to eat elsewhere and headed downstairs to check out the grocery store before leaving. An offensive smell of seafood smacked us in the face as we descended the stairs, reminiscent of Takamiya Market on Maui. The place is jam-packed with mainly Korean grocery items, a lot of them unrecognizable (to me) and undecipherable as they're written in Korean. Since my suitcase had room to spare, I figure I'd purchase something to try which ended up being a pack of instant noodles which I've heard is wildly popular in the motherland. There were a lot to choose from but I ended up selecting Ottogi brand's Snack Ramen (5-pack for $6.99). I have no idea what flavor it is (and haven't opened it yet), but the picture depicts a bright orange broth with mushroom garnishments. PARKING: Prized street stalls are few but there is a garage on Pohukaina St. I believe the first 30 minutes are free. I love coming here - I find new things hidden all the time. Went here last week saturday cause felt like eating kalbi and i know they have some premarindated meats. I always walk through every aisle to see what they have. They produce they have is really nice. I bought some really nice looking baby bok. I found a rose tteobokki for my daughter in the frozen section. Sometimes i get overwhelmed cause they have a lot of the same products but not sure which one is good to buy, for example dumplings. What is going on with this place? We went Sunday 4pm February 23. The onions were all rotting and one was openly rotting in a bag. All the onions were soft. The Ice cream section was all over frozen and covered in inc, meaning it was this way for a long time. Ketchup was all sold out, things did not have prices like the fries and chicken. When at the register, yet again, no greeting or thank you when done. Other cashiers were standing around talking to the security. The security was swearing loudly the F word over and over. It was totally disgusting. Literally everyone here should be fired. read more

I used to love coming here, but some things changed, I do not feel welcomed anymore. I am not talking about friendly greeter or anything. My ideal grocery experience is I push the cart around, grab what I like and need, and if I see something unique, it would be exordinary. I push my cart to cashier to pay, experienced courtesy clerks would help pack the bags according to item categories so when I unpack, I won't need to go back and forth to different locations. Finally, push my cart full of grocery back to my car and load into trunks, and as common courtesy, I push the cart to where it belongs. At H Mart... yes, they got fresh produce, yes they got unique items, but what really pushes me away is... no one helps with bagging, thats fine, a ding. THEN you can't even push the cart to your car! You have to haul cartful of groceries bags in 2 hands to your car! Sure you can ask the security to let you push the cart to your car... then you are told to bring it back to the store. How about bring a grocery cart? You can, but there's a sign says you can't put items in it unless purchase... so you gotta push a cart and pull a empty cart around the whole store? What that really tells me is... I am not suppose to buy too much, and the store is only meant for people who lives near by who would buy 1 or 2 bag of grocery. Quality/Quantity - Probably due to the food court upstairs, they have much less prepared foods sold in the supermarket. So for our second lunch today... Atmosphere - Plenty of food court tables and seating. Bathrooms need attention. Service - Below average, not sure why at both places the employees did NOT seem happy, borderline rude. Well it's almost two years and my how this has been the go to place for everything essentially needed that saved the day. I've just been impressed with H Mart variety with all thing asian...food, drinks, snacks, kitchen goods, and household items with aisles filled neatly, clean and organized from fresh produce at the front to fresh fish and meats in the back with an impressive selection of frozen items you'll sure to find what you need with some great deals. Speaking of deals I recently learned they have "Smart Card" which is their version of a point card system. You earn $10 for every $1000 spent, it's all completely free and all you do is register at their customer service or through their app which is super convenient as it will list their current sales and store hours. This visit was shrooms for $1.49, Garlic Baguette Sun Chips and an unusual foot massager caught my eye. Omg though I've gotten many massagers I love in Japan and a couple for my feet...this one is so different as it massages the side of your foot and with my ankle problem it was the absolute perfect solution and has given me some comfort as it rolls around my ankle it gives the pressure that's difficult to achieve and reach. Take a wander as it offers so much as some may be a tad pricy I agree it's items that are not found easily and not easily achieved. I was talkin' to my coworker about HMart, as I've seen this store in Kaka'ako, but didn't know what an HMart was. Best way to describe an HMart store...........if you ever been to a Don Quijote store, HMart is the Korean version of Don Quijote (which sell Japanese & American goods). I gotta say, if you like ramen? HMart has CHOKE ramen!!! I've never seen so many different versions/flavors! Lol! The store is well stocked but I think they actually could use more space, as the store kinda felt cramped when you shop inside. This is the cleanest and most well organized H Mart I have ever been in. Love it! Parking structure could be better. Upon entering the structure, I was almost hit by a car exiting. Driver was driving fast and in the middle of the lanes to boot! Did they not notice that it was two way upon entering? Although I did enjoy the one hour grace period with validation, I did not like the limited available parking. Glad I brought my smaller car. Beware that customer parking is only on the first level. Second level and above is reserved parking. I browsed the aisles during the 20 minute wait for my Sun Tea Mix order. I was amazed at the quality of the produce sold here. Everything was in date and fresh. I only purchased the Kiku apples that I discovered at a Seattle farmers' market and QFC. The ones in Seattle were organic and much smaller and very tasty. I have never been able to find Kiku apples anywhere else. Hope these are delicious! Only complaint with the apple display is that the apples are placed in a slanted box. Upon picking one up, the apples in the back roll forward. Explains why a lot of the apples had dents & bruises. I will definitely come back to this H Mart (on a less crowded weekday) as I saw some items I am excited to try. Update: tried the Kiku apples. They were not good...powdery & not crisp.
