I am so thankful for this location and that they are open early. A very clean store. One stop shopping for me; breakfast, lunch, dinner, animal needs, medical supplies, groceries, fresh pastries in the bakery, hot food in the deli at 6:30am, daily. There is nothing better than a freshly baked bagel, except a fresh chicken musubi. I do enjoy the furikake being mixed into the rice and not clumped up under the meat. The chicken is boneless white meat, lightly seasoned, lightly hand breaded and fried. So lovely for breakfast! Definitely NOT a Foodland Farms, with a salad bar, hot bar, juice bar, etc..but a much loved store in the Dillingham area. If you're a tourist and haven't heard of Foodland you're absolutely missing out on what the locals get for lunch! Theres many poke options for you to choose from and they pack the bowl to the BRIM! Came here for the poke primarily. You can't beat the price for how much poke you get. There's probably more poke than rice, and nothing else, so if you're looking for other sides, might want to buy some more and dole them out. Instead of buying two servings of the poke bowl, I think we would have been better off sharing because eating the whole bowl as is, got tiring for us. We also did have another poke place earlier that day and felt Foodland's poke was not as fresh. Service was ok, wished they would have explained the menu a bit, but maybe this is more for locals. Since this was in supermarket, ambiance for eating isn't really a thing here. I do wish they had some seating inside or even outside to enjoy. This Foodland location isn't too far from the airport and in between the Honolulu Airport and Costco. While waiting for one of our friends to land, we grabbed some groceries and of course had to grab our fix of poke. They also have hot food like fried chicken, tots, and other things to eat too. It's a grocery supermarket store that all of the locals also go to and it's a quick in and out to grab your stuff. I like to get their fried chicken. My friends like to get their poke- salmon, tuna, mussels, octopus, kimchi, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, garlic, and a side of rice. You can choose what size portions you want as well. The cashiers and workers are friendly, if you want to use the restroom the workers will escort you to the back of the store. Super friendly and helpful. I walk past the meat section to buy some fresh corned beef. I went up and down the Isle twice. Didn't see it, so I asked the butcher, which was doing some stocking. He walked me over to the cold cut and Hotdog section. Then I went to get some miso paste. While going down the aisle, a worker asked me if he I needed help in finding something. Foodland at Dillingham has convenient location if in the middle of road work central can be considered convenient. Lots of parking stalls available. Only been here a few times but they once sold Pepsi Nitro Draft Cola from oe of their myriad coolers and that was my introduction to draft soda from Pepsi. They don't offer as many food options that the consumer can expect from a Foodland Farms, e.g. in Kahala or AMC. But they offer a decent selection. I usually go in the morning, so it's not very busy. I don't have to wait too long at the checkout, as a result. Prices are a bit higher than other grocery stores. read more

Very rarely come to this foodland and now wont return. Was on a quick lunch break wanted to grab something to eat and asked if I could use restroom, was told to go to customer service waut in line. Who then had to make an announcement over the intercom which was beyond embarrassing telling me to wait to the side like I am an issue. I told her I didn't realize using the restroom was such a problem and I was very sorry she then rolled her eyes at me said somebody would help me if they had time. I waited a few minutes then apologized explaining I'd rather just shop and go home. I didnt expect than be treated poorly just for asking to use the bathroom especially being a customer. Our go to place to get poke in Oahu! I think this is our first stop when we land, our mid trip stop, and our last stop before the airport. There are definitely some amazing poke places around this island but Foodland is quick, they have a lot of options, and they're consistently delicious. There are also so many locations that you can easily stop by, pick up your favorite poke and head to the beach or the park. I'm a salmon lover so the shoyu salmon is usually my go to but we also throw in a pound of tuna for a balanced diet. That's when I stock up on baking ingredients - especially Nata de Coco (coconut gel) for almond float! This location has the green colored coconut gel - it's good for the holidays and for variety! One should always support the local supermarket chain when travelling! It might lean on the more expensive side for some basic items (e.g. water), but everything is more expensive in Hawaii than what us Mainlanders are accustomed to. They do seem to have specials and limited discounts for members/ locals, as a random factoid. Do your grocery shopping, but you'll most definitely want to check out the poke located in the back of the store. Order poke by the "lb." or opt for a poke bowl. If ordering by the pound, most selections under 2lbs are $12.99. If you want your rice, a small bowl for $7.49 will net you 0.33lb of a choice poke. Incredibly fresh with firm fish to satisfy any lover of poke. Ahi limu is ever the classic along with shoyu ahi and all the mayo based selections. Delicious! I came to this location straight from the airport and picked up some salmon poke, wasabi salmon poke, ahi California roll, and ahi Limu poke. It was all fresh and delicious! I also picked up a six pack of Hawaiian Sun Liliko'i Passionfruit, fresh butter mochi, and a few insulated grocery bags. They have very cute reusable bag designs and the bags were on sale for a great price of $3.99 each. The butter mochi was okay. It wasn't as soft as I like, but still good and I'm glad I tried it. The only slightly negative aspect of shopping here was that the line for poke was really long (it was lunchtime) and there was only one worker. All of the staff were very nice. read more

A foodland located in dillingham.... I live in Kalihi so this location is convenient but it is a bit ghetto so I avoid going once sun goes down. Parking here has a huge lot! But it's in this little street that you have to be careful turning out due to all the cars parked on street. Inside it's not as big as the other foodland which make things much easier and quicker to find. Poke area is in the back and they have an imaginary line and usually just one worker but they are usually very friendly. Cashier Service here is rude so don't expect someone to be friendly as you're paying. read more

But we like this one because of the delicious Poke and the amazing rice (sticky) The folks that work here are pretty friendly and ready to help and it's a close by location for us (5 min by car) near our work place, so this is a regular place for us to get some bomb poke. FoodLand Dillingham location what can I say in the heart of kalihi. SEAFOOD DEPT - Dammmm whoever orders the OYSTERS for this particular foodland location isn't doing a good job. So I have bought oysters 2x from this foodland and their oysters SUCKS..... so DISAPPOINTING thumbs down, their oysters shell is so big but when you pop open the oyster shell the OYSTERS are so small like a mussel (shaking my head) so 1st time I bought them I cooked them and actually after cooking them I decided to get my money back and return them back to the store. So again I said let's try this oysters again I figured it be a lot better then the 1st time I bought them, but no SAME STORY big shell small oysters UNREAL. Who ever is taking care of the orders for the oysters need to change distribution company of the OYSTERS. This review is specifically for this location's Seafood Cove aka "Hawaii's Home for Pokē ". This older location reminds us a bit of those "old poi shops" that were formerly run by moms and pops. Much like Kapahulu Poi Shop or Young's Fish Market (when it was on Liliha St). Its ambiance is an old school supermarket, sort of small and dingy but the folks are friendly and helpful. Of course, Foodland is a local supermarket chain so there's so much more in here. Traditional pokē originally served as snacks to the local fishermen who would just season the cut-offs of their catch, traditionally aku (skipjack tuna) or he'e (octopus). Pokē in its traditional form of gutted, de-boned and filleted fish was only seasoned with sea salt, limu (a type of algae), inamona (kukui nut or candle nut) and seaweed. But, with changing times, the variations of cubed seafood fillets or shellfish have been influenced by other Asian flavors (Japanese and Korean). Even Western tastes have been incorporated with the addition of avocado, tomatoes and jalapeño chili peppers. I don't know what it is, but, whoever makes the pokē at this market really knows how to do it right. The cuts of fish are nicely cubed, very rarely do we find pieces of fish with that tough sinew and though some of the fish may have been previously frozen, all of their pokē tastes fresh and seasoned well. We usually will come here to get spicy ahi pokē, smoked salmon pokē or Hawaiian-style tako (octopus) pokē and some garlic edamame to munch on with poi and lau lau. The prices are not outrageous and being that the pokē is sold by weight, you can "control" your purchases. The pokē counter workers are always smiling and friendly. They're always ready to help you make a decision on which item fits your taste buds. Often, they'll even offer you a sample of most of their items if you're unsure. Additionally, they not only sell the pokē but will assemble a pokē bowl (pokē of your choice atop steamed rice) or plate (pokē, steamed rice + fried chicken) for you as a quick meal for around $10. Eating raw fish or meat is nothing new and has existed in other World cultures. For example, in Europe, you may have heard of "tartare" or "carpaccio"? Or ever heard of Korea's "Hoedeopbap" which is also marinated raw tuna served over steaming hot white rice or Japan's "sashimi"and "nigiri sushi"? Yup...eating raw fish or meat is not only in Hawaiian culture. read more
